The Winnipeg Jets (22-23-4) host the Anaheim Ducks (26-14-9) at the MTS Centre in a Monday nighter. The Ducks are first in the Pacific Division while the Jets are in a cluster of teams fighting to get back into the playoff conversation.


Quack attack


Although they lost 5-3 in Minnesota on Saturday, the Ducks are the hotter team heading into the game. The Ducks have won five of their last seven games and are 8-3 in their last 11. And on the road, the Ducks have been holding their own with a 10-9-6 record.
The Ducks will have the advantage if special teams plays a factor in the game. The Ducks are 8th in power play goals this season and while the Jets are 26th in the league on the penalty kill.


WJ Squadron


The Jets are on a two-game winning streak but the third game has eluded them thus far this season. They haven’t managed a three-game winning streak all season. The Jets have had a tough time stopping the ducks. Although this is a large sample dating back to ’99-’00, the Jets are 9-14 against the Ducks, 3-8 when playing at home, and 2-4 as the home favourite against them.


As it has been since its opened, the MTS has provided an advantage for the Jets. They are 13-9-1 at home


The Final Breakdown


The Jets are banking on the stellar play of Ondrej Pavelec to continue after being called up from the minors. The Ducks are a tough test and will be a reality check for the netminder. Although so far it seems that a less-than-stellar Johnathan Bernier will be getting the start, the Ducks still seem to be the right play.
