I don't see how they can sell that many season ticket packages, when its largely a tourist city.

    1) They already have. A lot of displaced northerners escaping the weather and downturns of their cities live here.

    2) Casino hosts have bought up everything they could get their hands on. A lot of their clients aren't even fans, but want to take in a hockey game in Vegas in that arena next time they're in town. Never underestimate that part. This is a hot ticket.

Do you think once the novelty wears off the interest will stick for a Pro Hockey franchise, I think it would have made alot more sense if you had gotten the Raiders in Vegas personally.

It will be a social event above anything else. Will always draw opposing fans.

And more proof that you don't really live here, Hockey season is right in the heart of our busiest months. Room rates will already be sky high, and fans will pay for them.

Like I was telling 3rd shift jj, it won't matter. It will be a social event, and will be a big draw for all opposing fans. 10K+ season tix already sold. Every game for pretty much forever against LA, ANA, and PHX will be a sellout, and that's a good portion of the away season. We have direct flight to everywhere in Canada now, so they'll parlay their yearly visit with the game. Why wouldn't you? We have an advantage over every other team out there as far as being able to sell tickets.

People have never gotten to come to Vegas and watch a pro sporting event, until now. And as I said before, people with casino hosts who have no interest in hockey already want their hosts to get them tickets.

Gonna be big. NHL asking for an exorbitant amount of money for this, and the local owners can't give it to them fast enough.

Ralphie has a real positive take, I like it

    But-

I can't go along with it if it turns into a burden on taxpayers.

Oakland Raiders want 750 million from tax payers and I'm already against that.

If the NHL wants to pay for all of it-then do it.

Pretty sure the taxes are on the proposed stadium for football. Not sure what we're paying for the NHL team, if anything.

Brock, who cares , what the people really want to know is when will Sunrise Debt Solutions be back in business? Over the years not a day goes by I don't thank you for getting me out of debt and repairing my credit. If it wasn't for Sunrise , I have no idea where my life would be. May Jesus Christ Bless you!

Expansion makes no sense when the teams in Carolina, Florida, and Phoenix are losing money hand over fist, and there no reason Vegas should have gotten a team instead of Quebec.

It's going to be tough for the players to maintain the discipline to stay away from the off ice shenanigans. Think the LA Kings, only instead of 4 coke fiends they will have an entire team of them.

Hockey players already party the hardest of any pro atheletes, Vegas will be amazing for them (maybe not their careers so much).

Just yet another piece of evidence of how retarded Bettman is. It will be a fantastic day when he gets the penetrate gone and hopefully the league hasn't been ****** beyond repair then.

NHL to Vegas is definitely an interesting route for the NHL to take. Not sure how they plan on filling the arena but I guess only time will tell...I'm sure they have some sort of plan? right? Would have loved to see Quebec get a franchise, hopefully they will in the near future. I can't think of one city that would benefit the NHL more than a Quebec team imo.

    Remember Robin Leach?

“Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous?” Champagne wishes? Caviar dreams?

    Hockey insider?

Yes, the man who used to bring you glimpses of golden toilets in Beverly Hills is now breaking hockey news, potentially. Leach, who writes a society column for the Las Vegas Review Journal, tweeted this week:

“First solid Wicked Whisper of name for our new NHL expansion hockey team to be revealed officially Tuesday: expect DESERT KNIGHTS.”

Well, there you go. Case closed.

OK, maybe not exactly closed. There’s no question “Desert Knights” is the popular guess for the new NHL team’s nickname, which will be revealed at an event in Las Vegas on Tuesday featuring NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

It’s the overwhelming favorite among readers of the Review Journal, who were asked which name will end up being chosen. The colors on a recent press release published by The Sin Bin have them thinking Desert Knights as well. Speaking with insiders around the NHL, they seem to think Desert Knights too, although that could be an echo chamber.
