Strategy you numbskulls. You put one in momentum swings. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. 2 goal lead is the worst lead in hockey. 3-1 now you have momentum, players and coach playing it safe and you're unraveling. Now 3-2 you're second guessing and still just protecting. Now you're on your heels.

I actually really like that he does that. It gives more of an opportunity to come back. Having more men on the ice is an "advantage" granted no goalie is s disadvantage. But end of day Roy thinks. If I lose 3-0 or 24-0 it's just one loss.

Like Deuce said....trying to score a goal quickly is the strategy here. You punch one in right away, and then the whole game can change.

And Jay...this isn't NCAA football, pal. A loss is a loss. You don't get style points for losing by 3 as opposed to 5. No one gives a fukk how many you lost by.

Deuce and Opie said exactly what I was going to say. I think Goal Differential comes in as a a tie-breaker somewhere way down the tie-breaker list - but I concur w/ others - I agree with it. You have likely already lost the game - why not try and do something different to win. There are models you can run that show the optimum time to pull a goalie given a score.

Only reason people on here are upset is because it makes it harder to cap - which I agree it does - but if we take out the gambling side - strategically it wasn't a bad play. Didn't work out but likely wasn't going to work out either way. I hate coaches that give up when there is still time on the clock.
