Jerimjob's NHL, MLB, NFL, and more thread

    Hey everyone,

Decided to sign up and start my own thread. I’ve been capping games for a couple years now, and have made a bit of coin in the process. I mostly bet on hockey, baseball, american football, and tennis. I will bet on other sports as well if certain matches catch my eye.

I bet in $100 increments and will keep track of my record for all to see.
I’ll also try to provide a short reasoning for my picks whenever possible.

BOL to all, and let’s make some money.

    Thursday, December 5, 2013 – 2 NHL plays

    Boston Bruins at Montreal Canadiens
    Pick: Boston Bruins (-130)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $153.85

Boston has not played since Saturday, and are a well-rested team. Montreal just squeaked out 2 victories over the NJ Devils in the past couple days where they were outshot both games. Montreal just played last night in New Jersey, and got a lucky win. They had to travel back to Montreal where Boston has been waiting, and will be playing the second half of a back to back. Boston is a far superior team than New Jersey and play a physical style. I believe they will wear down a tired Habs team. I expect Boston to come out flying tonight, and come out with a big win.

    Chicago Blackhawks at Minnesota Wild
    Pick: Chicago Blackhawks (-130)

    Risk: $100
    To win: $76.92

Chicago will look to bounce back from a loss where they outshot their opponent 50-18 but lost the game. They dominated the game, but Corey Crawford had an off night. I expect him to bounce back and beat the Wild. Chicago is the better team, and I like them to rebound with a victory.

well, definitely not the start I was looking for on here.
like most people, surprised Bruins couldn't pull off the W
Hawks blew it late, but oh well....

    0-2 record overall
    -$300

    Friday, December 6, 2013 – 2 NHL plays

    Colorado Avalanche at Calgary Flames
    Pick: Colorado Avalanche (-140)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $142.86

After getting embarrassed last night to the Oilers, I expect a bounceback game from the Avs.
Flames are the inferior team, and I expect a good performance from Colorado.

San Jose Sharks at Carolina Hurricanes
    Pick: San Jose Sharks (-175)

    Risk: $300
    To win: $171.43

Similar to the Avs, Sharks got pumped last night and should have a good bounce back game against a weaker team who also played yesterday. It's a lot of juice, but Sharks should win big here.

Rough start on this board, but what can ya do...

    Overall record 1-3
    - $457.14

Toronto Maple Leafs at St Louis Blues
Pick: St Louis Blues -1.5 (+120)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $240

Leafs traveling for the second half of a back to back. No Phaneuf again. St Louis is the superior team, and expect them to win by 2 or 3.

Columbus Blue Jackets at New York Rangers
    Pick: Under 5 goals (-115)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $173.91

Both teams missing key offensive players. Should be a defensive minded game with not many chances to score.
I can see this being a dull 2-1 type of game

    Good luck to all

Went 1-1 yesterday for small profit

    Overall record of 2-4
    - $417.14

    Only one NHL play today.

New Jersey Devils at Pittsburgh Penguins
    Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins (-180)

    Risk: $400
    To win: $222.22

Pittsburgh are strong at home. New Jersey are not very good on the road. Crosby and Malkin both playing. Pens have some injuries but are the superior team, and well rested. I expect them to win in regulation, but will just bet them on ML.

    Good luck to all

Good win yesterday. Thought it would be a blowout after 3 early goals, but the Pens hung on for the win

    Overall record 3-4
    -$194.92

2 games tonight that I like.

    Boston Bruins at Vancouver Canucks
    Pick: Vancouver Canucks (-115)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $173.91

Canucks are on quite a roll. They've been looking forward to this game for a while and even though they're playing the second game of a back to back, they were able to rest players in the 3rd period last night and roll 4 lines, so fatigue should not be a factor. Bruins are playing the final game of their roadtrip and are probably looking forward to being back home. They're banged up and will be without McQuaid, Kelly, Eriksson, Paille, and Hamilton. Plus no Thornton due to looming suspension. I expect the Canucks to play well and come out on top.

    Carolina Hurricanes at Phoenix Coyotes
    Pick: Carolina Hurricanes (+140)

    Risk: $100
    To win: $140

This is more of a gut feeling than anything. Carolina has lost 3 in a row, but are due for a positive outcome. They are healthy now with Semin back. I like the price here, and think this one will be a 1 goal game either way.

For those into the NFL, playing a 4 game sweetheart teaser that should definitely hit.

    San Francisco +7
    Seattle Seahawks +6
    Jacksonville Jaguars +15
    Carolina Panthers +2

    Risk: $500
    To win: $416.67

Good luck to all this weekend

Good start to the weekend with 2 wins yesterday night.
Nucks dominated and the Canes pulled off the W on the road.

    Overall record 5-4
    +118.99

Only one NHL game tonight, to go with my NFL parlay:

    LA Kings at Chicago Blackhawks
    Pick: Chicago Blackhawks (-140)

    Risk: $100
    To win: $71.43

Chicago got embarassed last night by a weaker Toronto team. I think Chicago will come out hard tonight. Both teams played yesterday, so neither team has an advantage in terms of rest/fatigue.

    Good luck to all

Great weekend with another couple wins yesterday. Went 5-0 total for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

    Overall record 7-4
    + $607.09

Will post a couple picks later, but leaning towards the Jets and Pens.
Malkin looks questionable tonight, so will wait and see how that plays out

A couple NBA games caught my eye too, but will post in a few hours.

Taking the night off of hockey.
    Not crazy about anything tonight.
Going to do another 4 game sweetheart teaser parlay; this time in the NBA for anyone that's interested:

    Chicago Bulls +3
    Utah Jazz +23
    Brooklyn Nets Pick
    Indiana Pacers -1

    Risk: $200
    To win: $166.67

    I use Bodog.

I made the bet earlier in the day, but just checked now, and you can still have Indiana at -1.
You have to do a NFL/NBA 4 team teaser parlay to get Indiana at -1 right now

    Hope that helps

No offense taken... those teasers are not for everyone. I've had good luck with them picking my spots, but don't do them all that often.

Pacers shit the bed and lost their first home game of the year... good timing to bet on them haha... oh well..

    Overall record 7-5
    + $407.09

Like 3 games tonight in the NHL, but don't have time to dissect them as much.
    Hopefully they all hit:

Florida Panthers at Toronto Maple Leafs
    Pick: Florida Panthers (+110)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $220

    Calgary Flames at Boston Bruins
    Pick: Boston Bruins -1.5 (+145)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $290

    Phoenix Coyotes at Montreal Canadiens
    Pick: Phoenix Coyotes (+110)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $220

Also liking the Canucks, Jets, and Blues but did not pull the trigger on them

Also adding a 4th game for tonight.

Anaheim Ducks at Detroit Red Wings
    Pick: Anaheim Ducks (-120)

    Risk: $300
    To win: $250

Too many injuries for Detroit. No Zetterberg, Howard, DeKeyser, Nyquist, Franzen, Abdelkader, Weiss, and Helm.

Too bad Phoenix couldn't hold their lead in the 3rd and choked. Could have been a nice sweep.

What's the thinking behind the Mass pick? Ohio have been playing well too and winning games easily at home. Should be very close no?

I think if it wasn't for Ohio's great home record, it would be UMass -6 or more... I think they're the better team

Ohio runs a 4 guard set and will be playing against a huge team in Mass.
They have no one to match up with Cody Lalane (6'10" center). Then there's Sampson Carter (6'8" forward) and Raphial Putney (6'9").

The Bobcats have played no one, while UMass has beaten LSU, BYU, New Mexico, Clemson and Nebraska to name a few. UMass will want to prove they're for real, and beat Ohio at home.

I could be wrong, but I like UMass winning by 6 or more

Gonna go with 4 games tonight on the NHL board.

    Minnesota Wild at Pittsburgh Penguins
    Pick: Minnesota Wild (+120)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $240

As far as I’m aware, the Pens should still be without Malkin tonight. Also no Letang, Martin, Orpik, Scuderi, Megna, Glass. Pens somehow won last night with tons of rookies in the lineup, however I don’t see them beating the Wild, who are healthy for the most part. Fleury also has the night off, so Zatkoff is in net. Minnesota at plus money is good value.

    Vancouver Canucks at Dallas Stars
    Pick: Vancouver Canucks (-115)

    Risk: $200
    To win: $173.91

I like Vancouver to bounce back. They're playing really well right now, and don't think the SO loss to Minny will slow them down.
Lehtonen hasn't played that well lately letting in at least 3 goals in the last 5 games (including 6 in his last start). Probably has a bit to do with Daley and Robidas out. Vancouver is also a good road team.

Parlay Boston Bruins to beat Buffalo Sabres and St. Louis Blues to beat Montreal Canadiens

    Risk: $200
    To win: $305.56

Boston is just a far superior team to Buffalo. Not much more to say about that. St. Louis is great at home, and even without Backes, I believe should beat the Habs.

    Good luck to all

Agreed except I am on the Pens, because I think the odds are generous with them being at home. Waiting to hear about the St Louis injuries before backing them.

Fair enough about the Pens pick... I think it's a toss up because of the injuries to Pitt, so I took the plus money with the Wild.

No Briere for Montreal which is not a huge loss right now. Projected lineup for the Habs:

    Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher
    Galchenyuk - Plekanec - Gionta
    Bourque - Eller - Prust
    Bournival - White - Moen

For St. Louis, looks like no Sobotka and Backes. Jayden Schwartz returns to lineup.
Hopefully brings the team energy and they come out on top.

Yep, I won't be shocked if Minny does win, because of the injury situation of the Pens and it's a back to back...I know my play is risky but hope it pays off!
