Tim Thomas made 27 saves to backstop the Bruins to a 3-0 win over the Penguins. It was the first time that Boston shut out the defending Stanley Cup champion since Jan. 14, 1993, when the Bruins routed Pittsburgh, 7-0, at Boston Garden. The Bruins' goaltender that night was John Blue, playing only his fourth NHL game. It was the first, and, as it turned out, only shutout of Blue's three-year NHL career.
