Ahhh what a night. Saw a great Comedy show in Toronto tonight, hard to stay focused with all the action on my ScoreApp but it was a good one either way. Good thing I went with small plays tonight, not a great turnout.. but down less than 1 unit, so not too worried about that. Not sure why all 3 of my ML plays were dogs.. that lost.. and then my ML parlay with TB/BOS wins.. but I didn't single those?? Was feeling a little rushed while picking.. Didn't really get to break it all down and plan the betting pattern like I usually do but.. That is why I use this thread as a sort of journal, that I can look back on and learn from.

Glad I didn't touch the LEAFS. Was thinking I should have.. when they were up 2-0 going into the 3rd but they pulled a classic let down. Dodged..

Phoenix is coming off a nasty OT loss to the Sens on Tuesday and will be looking to bounce back strong against the first period specialists in Anaheim. Not a whole lot to say here except that Phoenix is a solid team and can definitely win this game.

STL vs. WPG(ML) @+105 x2u WIN
Jets got shutout by the Habs on Tuesday at home and are now coming off 2-days rest to face a team that just went to a shootout late last night with the Blackhawks. I would have liked to see the Jets at +115 or +120 as the blues are still a far better team in my opinion. But with Elliot in net tonight and the boys in blue a little tired, I still think the jets have a good chance of pulling off the minor upset here.

That is the rebound night I was hoping for coming off of two minor dents in an otherwise skyward flow. PHX just about pulled it off but the Ducks found Mike Smith's weakness and crammed it high glove the whole shoot out!

TODAY/TONIGHT'S PLAYS
DET(ML) vs. PHX @-110 x2u LOSE
This used to be a division match-up before the re-alignment, these two teams know eachother well and while I would usually take the dog in this situation (PHX imo), the juice is even on both sides which I believe gives great value to the Wings. No play on the (In Reg.) win as this game could easily go to extra time.

MIN(ML) vs. FLA @-135 x1u LOSE
I bet against Min on their last game and it paid off, but the truth is that Minnesota is a great 2nd tier team who I think will definitely be in the playoffs or at least making a serious push for it. Florida is still a junk yard squad who is capable of winning big games against teams like PIT/BOS/TB and plays a great upset pick for such games, but in closer games like this where the chalk is less than -170 against them, FLA is just what you'd expect, a dump house.

BOS(ML) vs. TB @-115 x1u WIN
Tampa Bay has been impressive but I think they will find the Bruins are too much to handle tonight. BOS is easily one of the top 4-5 teams in the league so when I see them listed at -115, I pounce on it.

NYR vs. NJ UNDER5.0 @-105 x1u WIN
This game has snooze fest written all over it. A few key players missing for the Rangers in Nash/Callahan, and NJ just stinks on offence. NJ is still looking for their first win of the season and the Rangers have had a rough start. To me, that makes this a "try not to lose game" for both teams, as oppose to "try to win". In such situations, I find the under cashes in more often than not. Good chance that this bet pushes anyways, but I thought I'd hop on anyhow.

EDM vs. OTT UNDER5.5 @+100 x1u WIN
Matinee games are lower scoring in general, and I don't think ALL of EDM games can go over the mark, making today the spot where I take them on the UNDER. Lehner is a solid tender for OTT and Dubnyk.. well.. lets just say I have him in my fantasy pool and am hoping he can deliver ONE game where he only lets in 1-2 goals... Lets see.

BOL today RM. I've enjoyed reading your thread this season...I find our thinking is very similar on many of the games. I love your Detroit pick today with them playing very well of late, and Phoenix having a tough SO game last night, I agree that it's a great spot to take them. I also agree with your NYR/NJ under. No fire power for the Rangers and Jersey just trying to hang on for their first W. Like you said, could push, but worth a shot imo. I also like the EDM/OTT under as well. Robin Lehner is a very quality back up and I feel Edmonton tightens things up today as well.

Thanks SP, glad to hear that you're following along, the more people reading/responding to the thread, the better chance that I stay on track for the full season! After this hot start, my main goal is to finish the season + money.. don't care if that means slowing down a bit during slumps or whatevs.. just as long as I don't tilt out and blow the BR I'll be happy Saw yer thread, good that you started one, it really helps keep things organized and profitable.

Brutal ADD bet today on the Penguins (In Reg.).. I'll have to double check but I'm pretty sure my record for plays that I ADD after the initial plays, is in the redzone big time...

EDM pulled it off as expected, and Dubnyk almost got his first SO of the season save for a poop goal from Neil near the end of the 3rd.

Not a bad start to the day at all, would have been nice If I stayed away from the PEN (In REg.) and just stuck to them with ML.. but whatevs.. 80% of the day still to be determined.

SJ is the heaviest chalk on the board, so I had to go with the PL here. Such a mis-match however between these teams, I would honestly not be thattttt surprised if CGY pulled the upset.. Far to "easy" a play to be easy... Having said that, I would predict the final score being somewhere around 5-2 or 4-1 for SJ. so.. We'll see..

What a day. Started off golden and looked like I was gonna roll with +units until the 3rd period in DET where PHX blasted back to steal the prize. Jeeeeeez. Soooo weak, and the ADDED plays have almost all been brutal.. See I usually come up with my "Plays" in a very particular way, and with careful planning on the units etc.

Sometimes however, I get excited during games, or after winning a play, then I want to ADD via my phone to juice the action. The problem is I usually don't consider how that added play will factor into the rest of the unit's/action on the day. None of this would be an issue if my Added plays were winning, but for now, they're just brutalizing my otherwise big win days.

Example being that IF DET would have won, today would have ended around +7 units.. instead, -1 unit. That swing is too big to hinge on one team... Usually in planning the plays I don't let that happen, but the added DET action was quick junky phone action. Gotta clean that up!

On a lighter note, it was a great day for fantasy hockey and I'm up 7-3 going into the final day of the week. That makes this sour DET bed-shit, not so sour...
