Ben Burns: Hawks & Canucks Over 5½

    Hawks & Canucks Over 5½

    Game Time: 2/7/2007 10:00:00 PM
    By: Ben Burns

Look for an over this evening when the Chicago Blackhawks head out on the road to face the Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks began February by playing a pair of high-scoring games. They combined with the Oilers for eight goals on Feb 1, and with the Flames for seven goals two nights later. The Black Hawks have also been playing high scoring games recently as they have seen eight of their last 12 games, including three of their last four on the road, finish above the total.

These teams both come into this one off upsets in the province of Alberta last night. The Canucks were in Edmonton while the Hawks visited Calgary. That's worth mentioning as both teams have shown a strong tendency to play high-scoring games when playing their second game in two nights.

In fact, the Canucks have seen the over go a profitable 13-6 the last 19 times they played the second of back-to-back games. Meanwhile, the Hawks have seen the over go 8-3-1 the last 12 times they played the second of back-to-back games. That includes a perfect 3-0 mark in 2007 with those three games averaging a whopping nine goals each.

This should be another relatively high-scoring affair. Consider a play on the over.

I feel the only way you really could consider playing is the over.
