    vassman's NHL Picks

Hey guys, I figured I'd start up my own thread to see how well I fare at capping NHL games. I've been doing good and decided it wouldn't hurt to track my record.

    ATL/BUF over 6 -115, risking 230 to win 200
-Both teams are hot right now and have proved that they can put up some goals
-The over is 7-2-1 in their past 10 meetings

    ATLANTA +135, risking 100 to win 135
-ATL is 7-2-0-1 in their last 10 meetings, and they swept the series 4-0 last season
-Lalime is supposedly starting. Lalime went 5-13-0-3 last year for Buffalo with a 3.10 GAA
-over 65% of bettors are on the Sabres, yet the line is moving down

    CHICAGO -185, risking 370 to win 200
-Hawks swept the season series 4-0 last year (and won by two or more goals in all four games)
-Stars are on the tail end of a B2B, and had to make the flight to Chicago as well

Eugh, Chicago, what the heck... oh well, tomorrow's another day.

    1-1-1 -2.35 units

    EDMONTON -115, risking 115 to win 100
-Oilers are playing much better hockey than the Canucks overall
-At the moment, I feel Khabibulin will outperform Luongo
-Putting my play in tonight, as I anticipate the line will rise by game time.

    NY RANGERS - 118, risking 236 to win 200

-Dropping this play due to Lundqvist potentially sitting out

I have a lean toward Dallas -135 for tomorrow as well. The Kings are on their last of a six-game road trip and are averaging less than 2 goals per game over the past 5 games. Stars are also better on the PP, and PK. I'll ponder about it and decide whether or not to make a play by game time.

I dont like Edmonton for tonight as i dont like Vancouver either i think this game is a real coin flip.. i dont see much value .
I dont think khabi outperform luongo(even if Luongo have a carrer losing record in october)
If i had to pick a team in this game i would pick Vancouver.

1-0 +1.00 unit. Bad call on the line movement as the line actually dropped dramatically right before game time. Could've had the Oilers at +105 on my book, but I'll take the win anyway.

    ATLANTA +109, risking 100 to win $109
-Riding out the Thrashers and their hot streak. They've also won by 2 or more goals in all of their wins this season.
-Canadiens are just horrid so far this season and have not given bettors any reason to bet on them.
-Price and Halak are combining for a 0.884 SV% and 3.37 GAA
-Thrashers PP unit is the best in the league
*I'd advise against betting on the total. Thrashers have gone over once, and pushed four straight times.

    DETROIT -130, risking 130 to win 100
-Wings simply own the Coyotes, 9-1 in the past 10 games
-Datsyuk is expected to make his return into the line-up tonight
-Even though Phoenix is playing good right now, Detroit can beat them, and I'll take the Red Wings with the line so low

    PHILADELPHIA -1.5 +190, risking 100 to win 190
-I expect Philly to win this one outright tonight, it's just a question of how many goals they'll win by
-Boston is on the tail end of a B2B
-Boston is playing without Marc Savard, whose a big part of their offensive game
-I see Philly stepping up their game, and pushing the pace against a tired Boston team in order to get the two points

    EDMONTON -115, risking 230 to win 200
-Columbus on the tail end of a B2B
-Line dropped from Oilers -130 to -103 to -115, where I caught it
-70% of the betting public is on Columbus, which leads me to believe the sharp money is on EDM

NY RANGERS -119, risking 119 to win 100
    DALLAS +119, risking 200 to win 238
-Line movement is suspect with 83% on the Blues, yet barely any movement in their favour
    SHARKS/THRASHERS over 6, risking 118 to win 100
