    TWG's 2009-10 NHL Thread

Hello everyone! Welcome to my 2009-10 NHL season-long thread! Throughout the season I'm going to be discussing hockey in any way, shape, or form. On top of all of that, I will have season long picks that I will start tracking with a spreadsheet (Unlike I did with my end of MLB thread).

I will use a $200 bankroll for hockey this season. They will be small wagers anywhere from $25, all the way up to $100. I probably won't have picks everyday, but when I do, expect at least 2, but no more than 3 a day (sometimes I might just make a $100 wager on one team). I will provide an explanation with a good amount of statistical analysis, along with some of my own insight. Just a little background on me, I have been following hockey for about 13 years now and I am a die hard Blues fan. Hockey is my 2nd favorite sport, next to baseball.

Also, if you want to bet against any of my picks, you can wager me betpoints, Straight up. Just make sure that I have enough points to wager with you and odds are I will take you on.

Anyways, I hope alot of you take a look at this throughout the season and put in your $.02 cents here.

to a great hockey season, filled with success!

Best of luck this season! Once I have adequate betpoints, I'll be happy to wager with you!

I'm a huge Canucks fan. Canucks/Blues games will be a good opportunity to wager...

Canucks fan huh? I'm pissed we ran into you guys the first round of the playoffs. But yeah I'll totally be up to bet some betpoints on those games.
to you having a good season! (except when betting against me on Blues/Nucks games )

    10/1/09 Opening Night!
    Two picks:
    1. Sharks -1.5 (+165) (Risking $25; to win $41.25)
I'm expecting the Sharks' offense to tear apart which is supposed to be one of the worst teams in the league yet again this season. I don't see the Avalanche winning this game, I almost took the ML but expect the Sharks to take this one easy.

    2. Canadians/Leafs O 6 goals (-115) (Risking $25; to win $21.74)
Opening Night. Two powerful teams playing each other. I'm expecting the defenses to have quite a few holes and look for each team to jump on them. Over 6 in this game.

    Sharks PL Got hammered! -$25
    Habs/Leafs +$21.74

    NHL: 1-1-0
    -$3.26
Not a bad start for getting my feet wet on the season.

    Picks for October 2, 2009:
    1. Wings/Blues O 5.5 (-115) (Risking $50; to win $43.48)
The Wings have a potent offense and the Blues have an offense with a bunch of youngsters who are looking to (and probably will) breakout. The defenses will have some holes probably cause it's the first game of the season and its overseas. Osgood tends to be inconsistent and i'm sure Mason will give up 2-3. Look for around 6-8 goals in this game.

    2. Blues ML (125) (Risking $25; to win $31.25)
The Blues with another season under Andy Murray's tough system should look to break out against the Red Wings, especially with Paul Kariya and Erik Johnson finally back and healthy. Mason was solid last season down the stretch and expect the same this season. The Blues should be able to get to Osgood. Like I said, both defenses will make some mistakes, but I see the Blues winning this game either in OT/shootout, or by 1 goal in regulation.

Just following my 2 favorite sports. Baseball and hockey. I'll probably just tail on NBA, NCAAF, and NFL. This
is gonna be a season long thread of my picks, including a spreadsheet!

To be honest, I was kind of expecting it. After the first period, I didn't expect them to stop pressuring the Bruins or stop playing pretty good D. I'll admit the Bruins took a couple personalities they shouldn't have, but Ovechkin and co. were a bit too much for the Bruins. Also, the Caps have a better team than the Bruins, IMO.

Yes it is, especially when you want to look back at your old picks and you don't have to go through your entire thread.

Almost game time for me here. Cannot wait to see hockey again for the STL blues. Also, I will be making a blog about the NHL in the early morning.

I made one yesterday on the MLB postseason and i'm featured on the www.sportsbookreview.com front page! Check it out!

Hey, don't put too much faith in me. I got lucky for the most part. I don't want to feel bad causing you to lose G's by tailing me right off the bat. I'd wait a few days to see how things pan out for me.

Just kidding bro, I am not gonna put more than 5 units a game until I feel like I really have this thing figured out, first year wagering on hockey!

The Canucks and Avs screwed me over this afternoon, but the Bruins are helping me out a little bit.

I also jumped on the Kings ML (Risking $50; to win $31.75)

I'm going on the Devils ML tonight, but that seems like a solid pick on the Rangers.

And I'm with you on the Nucks.

    Official Picks:
Devils ML (Risking $130; to win $100)
Canucks ML (Risking $25; to win $16.13)

I'll be posting my blog with my reasons here in about an hour or so.
