Skating at home in the MCI Center, play the Washington Capitals tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Tampa Bay has dropped eight of their last nine games while Washington has won seven of their last nine.
The Lightning (14-17-2) come into this one on a 4-game skid with losses to Anaheim and Carolina sandwiching road defeats at Toronto and Montreal. Winger Martin St. Louis has been virtually a one man show of late with 11 points in his last five games, and leads the team in goals (20), assists (23) and points (43) on the season.
The Caps (15-10-7) currently sit second in the Southeast Division, five points behind the Atlanta Thrashers. Goalie Olaf Kolzig is coming off a solid effort in Washington's 4-1 win over the Flyers, stopping 21 of 22 shots on goal. Like Martin for the Lightning, Alexander Ovechkin leads the Capitals in goals (22), assists (21) and points (43).
Over the past two seasons, Tampa Bay is 6-13 ATS in December games, 5-14 ATS on Tuesday nights and 12-24 ATS after scoring two goals or more in the third period of their last game. Take Washington!
