Gary Bettman-The Worst Commissioner In Sports?
Looks like a lockout for the NHL.
Two sides, far apart, each wanting more of the money and bigger slice of the pie.
If it happens, this will be the 3rd lockout under Bettman's "leadership".
Which brings up a good question.
Is Gary Bettman the worst commissioner in pro sports?
I think, at this point, if there's another lockout, it would have to be almost undeniable.

Bettman makes 8 mill a year himself. Who is he to tell players what they can and can't make. He does nothing but hand the cup out at the end of the season.

Been commish almost 20 yrs though, so he knows whose dick to suck
his even worse than david stern if their is another lockout NHL is done for. The only people that will still watch once it comes back is the loyalest fans and these days theirs not much of those left. The general public will completely forget about it and people will not even realize that its hockey season. Unless they wanna lose a ton of revenue and a large part of their fan base I suggest they work out a deal. I wanna be there for opening day for the Devils.
He takes his orders from the owners and if you think any different you're sadly mistaken. I have no problem with Bettman. There will be hockey this season.
A lockout would be devastating to the sport after the traction made since 04-05. Hopefully it'll work itself out.
And gets heartily "BOOOOOOO'D" whenever the little turd appears in front of the fans.

if you ask all the sports fans in the us who has won the last 2 stanley cups i doubt even 10% would get it right

really hard to make that claim. As a Canadian I would definitely agree with you but most wouldn't.
Being totally objective though, I think I can make a serious case that the Stanley Cup tournament is the toughest championship to win of any sport.

No lockouts prior to that either between 1913-1993.
If there's an NHL lockout it will give further reason for the best European/Russian players to stay at home and play. KHL salaries are nothing to be laughed at and they want Russian talent to stay in Russia.
It's sad how the Phoenix 2012-13 season tickets sold out almost immediately when they were released. People get excited when their team does well. If there is a lockout the fans will simply forget about the team and any gains in popularity will be lost.
The owners/gms signing players to 10 year contracts are the idiots. They are the ones to blame. You can't blame the players for taking these guaranteed deals.

Stern gave him his first sports business job with the NBA.

Not all the fault of greedy owners. Not many people watch hockey on TV anymore. League doesn't make as much money as you thought. That's why the players dont make as much. Nobody watches hockey anymore. It's a damn shame.
