    Calgary

Trades 5th round pick to Wahington for Dennis Wideman then signs Wideman to 5 year deal 5.25 million per year
    Way to overpay Calgary

Think too much money but thought that about a few signings. Some free agents are gonna cash in big

Makes me wonder what kind of money Ryan Suter is offered when free agency starts

Wideman at anything over 4M is atrocious. I'd actually just prefer not to have this player on my roster as I think he's a gigantic liability. But eating up prime position cap space for Dennis Wideman is just a terrible decision. There's a reason he's been with something like 5 different organizations now within the last 4 or 5 years. He bleeds many more goals against than he creates. Something that you pay 1.5 million for and hide on your 3rd pairing with powerplay time, not something you pay 5.5 million over lengthy term to anchor your blueline.

Crazy $ unless he gets a front loaded deal.

Calgary is a tough city to attract people too. It's a gigantic shit hole The team itself is not exactly very appealing either. They seem to be in a constant state of rebuilding but not really. They need to blow that team up and start from scratch like the Oilers have been doing.

I agree they need to start from scratch. This isn't a good start
