Forwards
* Phil Kessel, Boston’s number one pick in the 2005 entry draft, will be making his NHL debut this season. He opted to leave college and play in the big leagues. Last season, while playing for the University of Minnesota, Kessel had 51 points in 39 games. I’m still not sure what to expect from him in the NHL this soon.

* Patrice Bergeron signed a five year deal with the Bruins. That was a good pick up. Last year, Bergeron recorded 31 goals and 42 assists in 81 games.

* Brad Boyes had an excellent rookie season (69 points in 82 games), earning NHL all rookie honors. Look for him to just get better this season.

* The Bruins also signed center Marc Savard over the summer. Last season Savard played with the Atlanta Thrashers getting 28 goals and 69 assists.

Defense
* The Bruins brought in big man Zdeno Chara during the offseason. The 6’9" defenseman signed a 5-year, $37.5 million contact. Chara will be a huge addition on the ice as well as a veteran roll model to the younger Bruins defensemen.

Goaltending
* Tim Thomas signed a 3-year extension with the Bruins, and Hannu Toivonen will battle it out for the number one spot.
