    SBR Book rejecting Bruins Wager

8 mins before game starts, won't take the wager; telling me the event started.

Unless the Bruins don't win of course, which they will ...

SBR took line down 10 minutes before the puck dropped, which was only 1 minute after the scheduled start time.

well you have to look at the start time listed in the SBR Book and then subtract another three minutes because SBR has its clock fast for the book and contests

Often the games start late but that isn't SBR's fault (if a game is listed as "3:30" and actually starts at 3:40).

Yis: Have very much noticed that SBR's clock is far ahead. However, the fact here is, the game was scheduled to start at 3:35 PM. At 3:25 PM I was logged in, had the line, placed the wager, and at exactly 3:27 PM SBR rejected the wager saying event was closed. That is all SBR's fault

4seasons, the sbr book probably listed the start time as 3:30

obviously they should fix their clock but the start time listed isn't really up to them

Classic that Minny can't beat anyone lately 'til the 1st place defending champs come to town, then they'll get a shutout even when giving up 48 SOG.

Foolish me letting SBR get me off my game. Tough price to pay for being upset, and huge lesson learned and paid for thanks to SBR's weak ass book policy.

Though they saved me 200 points in the SBR Book, instead of posting my play as 10 Units for my spreadsheeet (which tracks all of my posted plays on this site for this calendar year), I ignorantly read into being shutout as a good sign and made my posted play 100 Units (which I had only done 3 other times this year, post 100 Unit plays: Australian Tennis Final, Super Bowl & a Lakers at home). If my 200 point play gets accepted by SBR, I then go post the play as 10 Units. Instead, my 200 point play is rejected, and I post 100 Unit play which otherwise would have never happened. That is on me, and I blame myself for that, and have noted that when making wagers do not be on tilt.

So yes, ok, I can be happy I saved 200 points. However, am not happy that cannot rely on the SBR Book to make wagers until not only the game actually starts, but even before the scheduled start time. They take the lines down far too early, and wasn't happy with myself that what was a 10 Unit play, became a 100 Unit play on allowing an outside influence. Have to remember to stay focused at ALL times, but most importantly, at the precise time a wager is being placed.

I think they pull down games a bit early to prevent Pre-Game steam chasing.

The SBR Book is obviously not run like a real, reputable Book. No quarters, no halves, no 1st periods, lines come down way too early, etc. 99% of my wagers are placed within 10 minutes of the actual start time. The most important info isn't available 'til then, such as listening to pregame shows, and following late line movements. For SBR to operate their Book this way is real cheesy.

On the other hand, no cash is needed to play, so you have nothing to lose except your time for choosing to participate on this site. I've always backed the Book's being able to run their sites however it is they choose to do so. It's their business, and they can run them anyway they like. My only gripe is if the sites do not openly disclose without any misrepresentation their policies. Thus, if the SBR Book wants to take all lines down 10 minutes before scheduled start times, then they can do whatever they want. All I ask is that they clearly and publicly state the policies, so as to avoid any last minute surprises.

Negative. Had nothing to do with points. Had everything to do with getting rejected 10 minutes before the game started. The line being taken down 10 minutes early freaked me out, not that I couldn't place a silly 200 point wager.

4seasons, they do not take them down 10 minutes before the scheduled start times.

The start times listed in the book are publicly available. They are up and available to bet on until 3 minutes before whatever is listed.

Now obviously many games start a few minutes later than the scheduled start time, but that has nothing to do with this.

    For example:

    Feb 20501ATLANTA+10˝-110o181-110+550
    4:00 PM 502CHICAGO-10˝-110u181-110-700

Start time listed as 4 PM. It may start at 4:05 or even 4:10, but the official start time is 4.

You will be able to bet until 3:57 PM Eastern.

Yman: Thank you for the insight, however, the discrepency for the most part appears to be the scheduled start times listed. For example:

A conservative book like Bovada, and a liberal book like Heritage have tonight's NHL game properly list with a start time of 7:35 PM ET as follows:

Even the last 3 sites I checked (sbgglobal, betphoenix & justbet) ALL have the scheduled start time of 7:35 PM ET. That's about as diverse a selection of Books you can find. They ALL list 7:35 PM ET.

The SBR Book is the only one that lists the scheduled start time at 7:30 PM ET

    Date#TeamSideTotalM LineNATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE -
    Feb 20Feb 2053WASHINGTON-1˝+245o5˝+110-120
    7:30 PM 54CAROLINA+1˝-285u5˝-130EV

Thus, there's 5 minutes being shaved off the scheduled start time. And then, if they shave 3 more minutes off of that, you can clearly see that it's at least 10 minutes you have to say to yourself to place your bet with SBR if you want to get it in.

Then of course the game may not actually start for sometime after the scheduled start time, which routinely occurs. For the Book to close the event down before the game actualy starts, is a major disadvanatage to the gambler. MAJOR!!! That's why I choose Books that hold the line open 'til the game actually starts, and at the very least, do not ever routinely shut lines down before the scheduled start time. Don't you think that's better?

I hope this proves the fact that the SBR Book is shutting lines down BEFORE scheduled start times. Forget about holding lines open 'til the event actually starts, with the SBR Book you need to figure 10 minutes BEFORE the scheduled start time if you want to be sure to get your bet down.

As posted earlier, if that's how SBR wants to operate, it's a cheezy policy which seriously hinders the member's plays and which no real Book employs. However, it's their site, and they can run it anyway they like. I only ask that whatever the policy is, the policy is openly and publicly stated without any misrepresentation. Why not act like a real Book, or simply state the lines close 10 minutes (or 8 minutes, whatever) early?

Don't employ weak policies, and then if you do, conceal the material to try to make yourself look better. You won't look good having the weak policy. You look far worse having the weak policy, and trying to obfuscate.

They're getting their times from a provider. I don't know which one.

They aren't deliberately setting them early.

I understand what you were saying about the line closing down being the idea and take back my insult. Most of the books move in concert so I guess you could always see if others are down-if not you can probably guess it's something particular to that site. Cheers
