Dustin Penner is expected to return for the kings tonight and will play on a line with Mike Richards. That only bodes well for a team that is 6-2-1 in their last 9 in Jersey and beat them 3-1 in LA last October. Anze Kopitar appeared to be clicking on all cylinder's in Europe after last season's disappointing campaign. Beyond Kovalchuk and Parise, the Devils do not have scoring depth. (Mattias Teddenby is a good young player to watch however.) It's unclear yet who will be in goal tonight for the Devils but regardless, the Kings look focused, rejuvenated and determined after a disappointing season last year. The Devils will probably finish last in the Atlantic this year. LA wins 3-2
Hockey News picked the Blackhawks to go to the Stanley Cup this season. That may or may not be true but there is no doubt this is deep and talented Chicago team. Bolland, Kane, and Sharpe all have 2 points in the first two games and they should continue to build off of a 5-2 win over Dallas against a downright bad Winnipeg team. The Jets will fight, scrap and claw for points this year with a host of high character and high energy guys on their roster, led by Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien. But in the pro's, heart and soul only get you so far. This is an NHL team getting ready to embark on a quest for the Cup they won 2 years ago vs. an NHL team with an AHL roster getting settled into a new town. CHI wins 5-1
