    ? For NHL Guys

On pure talent alone, is Jason Spezza the best in the game today?

Spezza definitely has more pure talent than 99% of NHLers or more. I would argue that Spezza actually has more talent than Crosby. What Spezza doesn't have is Crosby's work ethic and dedication. And that is probably why we'll see Spezza with a 'great' career, but never have a shot at the HoF.

I'd go with Datsyuk is the P4P champ of pure talent. He can do it all. Best stick handler and puck controller I've ever seen and he plays a great defensive game as well.

Spezza is an amazing hockey player... If he could add a bit of toughness to his game he might be the best

I would add a +1 to Datsyuk. He can play in any situation and excel. He could probably play every segment of the All Star Skills Competition and do well.

But don't get me wrong, Crosby is without a doubt a better player than Spezza. There is a difference in being the better player vs being the more talented player though. Crosby does put a Brind'Amour/Roberts type effort off the ice and that's what makes him a top 5 player and Spezza a top 30 player. Spezza relies on talent, Crosby relies on being a workhorse (and tonnes to talent, too).

Spezza is for sure in the top 10 most talented players in the NHL today. On the other hand I am a huge Sens fan but that has nothing to do with his talent.
