    NHL Monday :

The Ottawa Senators will try to stop their 4 games losing streak at Madison Square Garden tonight. Goalie Alex Auld expected to be in goal. Big no 1 line has been reunited at practice, enforcer Chris Neil is out, Christophe Shubert (healthy scratch).

The Rangers are on a 2 game winning streak. Center Scott Gomez remains out, goalie Henrik Lundquist expected to go.

The Senators have won 6 of the last 7 meetings against the Rangers. Ottawa is 3-5 on the road this year, the Rangers 8-4at home.

Oddsmakers making the Rangers (-145,-150) fav at most Sportsbooks tonight, could get a little better at some places. Well, you can thanks Ottawa recent record against the Rangers for this line. New York is amoung the top 10 teams of the NHL this year, Ottawa is in the bottom 10 th team in the NHL or mid 20's if you prefer. For some reasons Ottawa still getting ton of respect from oddsmakers because they have 3 offensive superstars making headlines. But the reality on this team this year show a team with a defensive corps below NHL average, average goaltending, no secondary scoring on second and third lines and suspect coaching. Forget the powerful Senators of old without Zdeno Chara, Wade Redden and Dominik Hasek.

The 2008-2009 edition of the Rangers matchup well against the Sens in my opinion. New York is playing a tight defensive and physical game. Ottawa has not shown they want to get their nose dirty this year. This team is soft and you can have success playing physical against them. The NY Islanders have exposed the Sens holes in the last 2 games. Opposition is better tonight.

I like the Rangers chances, I think big men like Brandon Dubinsky, Aaron Varos and Colton Orr could have a good night hitting and banging the Sens players. Indeed, Ottawa is without their tough guy Chris Neil, add the absence of physical defenseman Christophe Shubert out of the lineup. . Sens not scoring much lately, outscored by avg. of 1 full goal in last 5 games. You have 15-20 cents value here in my opinion.

    NY Rangers (-142)

The Boston Bruins will try to rebound from a tough and hard to swallow 3-2 shootout loss in their last game. Bruins blew a late third period 2 goals lead to the NY Rangers. Boston allowed more than 1 goal for the first time in 4 games.

Toronto is coming from 3 games West Coast trip where they had poor goaltending. Leafs lost to Calgary, won against Edmonton and lost to Vancouver. Both Leafs goalies with a save % below .880 this year.

We have a team coming from a West Coast trip where they played in differents time zones and getting only one day rest to fight the jet lag and time change. Energy may be a factor here for the Leafs, Bruins rested and on eastern time zone mode. The Leafs won the first meeting of the year (4-2 on oct. 23) between the two teams when Toronto were surprising opponnents early in the season, Leafs came back to earth since. Bruins took the second meeting easily 6-2 on nov. 6. I like the Bruins chances, they are getting better goaltending than the Leafs right now. Toronto penalty killing in a slump (only 63.7 %) last 5 games, Bruins power play clicking (26.3%) last 5 games. Bruins PK impressing (95 %) last 5 games.

    Boston (-119)

We have a revenge factor in the San Jose-Nashville matchup. The Predators took a 4-3 OT game in San Jose on nov 11. Nashville goaltender Dan Ellis stopped 54 of the 57 shots of the Sharks to steal the game.

Tough assigment tonight for Ellis and Nashville. Conditions are not easy, team is playing home for the first time after long road trip and 14 days away from family. Third game in four nights plus trip back home and only one day of rest.

I like the Sharks chances here. San Jose playing second game in two days but had two days off before yesterday game. Nashville is also playing through tougher conditions. I think the Nashville 3 game winning streak is a mirage, opponents took shooting clinics against the Predators defense in their last 3 games (57 shots, 35 shots, 34 shots), Dan Ellis stood on his head and played over it... and stole 6 pts ! San Jose in a revenge situation and in a scoring frenzy, 12 goals in last 2 games, 8 power plays goals in 15 chances. Sharks top defenseman Dan Boyle missed the first meeting (childbirth) will be in the lineup tonight. Winger Jonathan Cheechoo also missed the game and he will go tonight.

    San Jose (-140)
