Major neck issues for him also imo. That was nasty!

That coming from a MMA fan. That was one of the ugliest KO's I've ever seen.

Clean...head was down. 5 minute penalty to appease Boston fans. Refs want to maintain control.

That wasn't Horton, it was Seguin.

Nice try though. All the fake hockey fans come out this time of year.

Now I know you're a moron. Rome WILL be suspended for Game 4 at the very least

Vancouver didn't send him to the dressing room, the refs gave him a game misconduct. Don't be stupid, man.

I don't think he'll get suspended...wasn't a match penalty...Horton unfortunately wasn't looking up and Rome just came straight at him, wasn't a blindside hit.

They said on the local post game show that Horton thought he was in Vancouver as they were taking him off the ice.

He will get a suspension since there is a hearing for 11 am. 2 games max, but since he missed pretty much all of game 3, he will get 1 game. Personally, I don't think this is a huge loss for Vancouver, as Ballard can step in or the young kid Tanev who is just as good or better then Rome.

This hurts Boston way more as Horton is gone for the season more then likely and that is a key gog in the wheel they don't have now.

Very big loss for the bruins. In my opinion Horton is their best scorer (maybe 2nd to Krejci). according to ESPN, hortno suffered a concussion. He is going to miss the remainder of the playoffs. Very big loss for the bruins. This is like Vancouver losing Kessler or daniel sedin.

Nathan Horton should have had his head up. If Horton had his head up, he would have seen the hit coming, prepared for it, and wouldnt have gotton a concussion. You have to keep your head up when you're skating. Otherwise you're not going to see the hit coming and are going to take these hits. however, in horton's defense the hit was a second late. I do not think it was a dirty hit. I just think it was a late it. It's a routine hit (if not late). It looks like a high hit because horton had his knees bent and was skating somewhat lower to the ice. If horton had his head up, he could have stood up a little taller and avoided this. It's a hard hit. no question about it. If this hit wasn't late, there'd be no penalty. i dont think rome jumped in air and left feet prior to the hit. It was a hit to the head because Horton didn't have his head up, and was on his outside edge turning, about to cut to the right side of the ice. You're going to take hits like that if you dont keep your head up. i think that Claude Julien said Rome left his feet prior to hitting him. and that it was a hit to the head. After watching the replay, it does not appear that Rome left his feet prior to the hit. The collision with horton knocked him back a little, causing him to lose balance and slightly leave feet. And was it a bit high? perhaps. but Horton was not standing up tall and didn't prepare himself to take the hit. Blindsided? yes, but only because horton didn't have his head up and stand up tall, preparing for the hit. If horton wasn't staring at Lucic on the left side of the ice, and was looking at where he was skating, this wouldnt have happened. Horton skated right into him. but it was a late hit.

So, yes, i think the hit was late. But other than that, i don't think it's that dirty. It was a huge hit, certainly. But huge hits are allowed barring that they are in compliance with rules. Horton should have kept his head up. If he did, this wouldnt have happened. And i'm a bruins fan who's admitting this.

People are free to disagree. If you do, i would like to hear your opinions. think this could be a good discussion going here. I'm not always right. Heck, i thought that having one skate over the line before the puck crosses was offside.

I think the hit was late and he did target the head because it was the first point of contact in my opinion. Don't know about a suspension though because he almost missed an entire game when the incident occurred. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets 1/none..

rome suspended 4 games.... seems heavy handed considering previous rulings

"Two factors were considered in reaching this decision," said NHL senior vice president of hockey operations Mike Murphy. "The hit by Rome was clearly beyond what is acceptable in terms of how late it was delivered after Horton had released the puck and it caused a significant injury."
