Congrats everyone...I have a question though. The tiebreaker was closest without going over(Price Is Right Style)where when someone thinks everyone went over they bid 1$ to 100% not go over.

The four of us on Ohio State all went over which should make the tiebreaker most 3* wins.

Sharkbite8,TheMoneyShot,and Invasor all had 4 wins 3* while Team Final Four had 3 wins.

Shouldn't our three teams have tied then for 6th,7th,and 8th?

I tried VERY hard to have SBR clarify that poorly worded tiebreaker rule...

I thought the same thing, until I double checked the rules last night. The 3rd bullet point explains the over/under tiebreaker rule.

    Contest rules

    • Each entry/team captain picks 15 sides from lines posted in an official thread on December 17. Lines will not change. Pick denominations will be: Five 3*'s, Five 2*'s, Five 1*'s.
    • All players MUST enter a 16th and final pick on the BCS Championship game. The pick denomination will be 4*. An official thread collecting the 16th pick will be posted Monday January 5. The final pick is due by Friday January 9 at 11:59PM ET.
    • Along with the 16th pick, players must enter the total # of points scored in the BCS championship to serve as primary tiebreaker. Closest without going over wins. If two or more teams are still tied, the most # of 3* wins is backup tiebreaker. If still tied, prizes split.
    • Pushes will return half of your bet. For example, if USC (-3) wins by 3, and they were a 2* play, you receive 1 star.

Yeah closest without going over...We all went over

To be scored the way they did it should say closest without going under

Either way I'm not going to make a big fuss.Would just like a decision.

if everyone went over it goes to 3 star plays

imo the tb should be 3 star plays to begin with

    not some random total

they need to list everyone who had 22 points or more...list the score, the first tiebreaker total, the second tiebreaker 3 star wins for all to see if they even have this list correct per the published rules on tiebreakers.. not so sure..

We are sorry you feel the rule was worded ambiguously. When players all go over the total, the closest to the actual total is the winner. 3* plays only break the tie when the TB score is identical.

contest started off great, wish I could say it ended that way in light of developments.

whomever is running this thing should have their job on the line. Nothing personal but multiple times posters asked questions and received no answers. Resulting in a big mistake.

Just hope next year there is some actual clarity and what is the most important rule. Either unlimited teams or set a limit(an actual number, not just the word limit)

You worded it incorrectly. And were asked to clarify multiple times.

    Then why stipulate this

    Closest without going over wins.

    Instead of

    Closest to the total wins

you are sorry I feel that, thats nice of you to say.

I asked twice in the Q&A rules section before people needed to put in tiebreakers and got no reply.

    http://www.sportsbookreview.com/foru...l#post23392433

..that is a bad ruling but the way on how you graded that on your made up extra rule.

but very generous prizes and people had lots of fun, lots of threads, lots of sidebets and good handicappin all bowl season...

not replied to or rules changed prior to tiebreaker picks.

I have a question on the total points tiebreaker..its clear but in a way perhaps one detail not clarified..

    • Along with the 16th pick, players must enter the total # of points scored in the BCS championship to serve as primary tiebreaker. Closest without going over wins. If two or more teams are still tied, the most # of 3* wins is backup tiebreaker. If still tied, prizes split.

CLEAR: closest without going over rule....

if the game ends with 80 points scored

and the following people are tied for points after the 16th pick these 6 teams are all tied for 4th...with these tiebreakers what is the order..

    person A 81 tiebreaker and #3 stars right 3
    person B 88 tiebreaker and #3 stars right 4
    person C 79 tiebreaker and #4 stars right 4
    PErson D 79 tiebreaker and #4 stars right 4
    PErson E 64 tiebreaker and #3 stars right 3
    PERson F 64 tiebreaker and #3 stars right 4

    is the final order
    tie 4th player C
    tie 4th player D

    6th Player F
    7th Player E

    8th Player B
    9th Player A

Im mostly wondering about 8th and 9th place per the rules.......

    thanks..

    Hi guys,

We apologize for whatever ambiguity there was with the tiebreaker rule. However, all tied contestants in the money went OVER the total, so although the rule stated "closest without going over", we applied the tiebreaker to reward the "closest". In the one instance where contestants had the same TB, we followed the posted rule of checking the # of 3* star wins before dividing the prize equally.

In other words, it's a wash, but we appreciate the feedback.

Probably my favorite contest on SBR. The way it's set up, even in losing, I was able to win. Hedged about $1400 on Ohio State. Could have won 1st and last if Oregon covered. I didn't have a good feeling about them covering. Probably will have a celebratory points give away bonanza soon and drop the hammer on the SBR Book posters parlay style

SBR Forum - Clearly the rules stated that if everyone went over with the totals... you then go to the most 3* selection.

There would of been a 3 way tie for 6th place. Therefore... you would add the payout for places 6th, 7th, 8th spot. A total of 65k points should of been divided by 3.

6th place tie Invasor 21,666 pts
    6th place tie Sharkbite8 21,666 pts
6th place tie TheMoneyShot 21,666 pts
9th place Team Final Four 15,000 pts

That's how it should of been done. Seems like someone was lazy.

This is all according to all of your tie breaker rules.

I don't think it's fair for anyone when you change the rules.

nice work. I was sitting pretty myself.

If oregon had cover all 4 of the teams I was on would have cashed in the top 10 so after hedging it was real nice to sit back.
