    AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2013 CONTESTS - Sponsored by bet365

    As always there will be a separate contest for the men's and women's singles. For those of you who may not have entered one of my contests before, here are the rules:

    1. This is a bracket contest - think NCAA Basketball - which starts at the First Round of the AUSTRALIAN OPEN. The draw will be released FRIDAY JANUARY 11TH local time with the first match commencing at 11am local time MONDAY JANUARY 14TH (subject to change). This is SUNDAY JAN 13TH 7pm EST in the US. I will create contest threads with the draws and the format when they're available. This is not a quick contest to enter - although if you use the bracket software I suggest in the contest threads it'll help a lot - so allow yourself some time to figure out your picks.

    2. Each person is to PM ME the winners of each match all the way through from the First Round until the Final BEFORE the first match commences. Just to be clear: You have to figure out the winner of each 1st round match, carry them over to the 2nd round and decide who'll win, and so on. All of this before the first match is played. I'll post everyone's picks at some point in the day so all of us can follow along.

    1st. 1,500 SBR FP

    4th. 500 SBR FP
    5th. 350 SBR FP

    haha I was thinking as I made this thread that no matter how much I swear each time this is the last time we'll run these contests when I'm scoring the first round, at least I won't have to put up with his same robotic bitching for the 4th year in a row.

    I can't wait to see what people pick this year. I always do mine first and then slot them in and am sometimes shocked or saddened when I see my favourite posters way opposite.

    But I think this year it's going to be bizarro world. Way wacky people making it further than they should. We'll see.

    If SBR had the contest software set up for tennis I'd be using it. But most of use just bracket software anyway and then copy and paste. I even provide the format and a sample entry so it's not as big of a deal as it may seem.

    of course it would be easier if there would be a software for the contest instead of Shari doing a lot of work, but this has already been discussed a lot of times already and at the moment is not possible ... Shari is doing a great job with these tennis contests and if not for her we would probably not have any tennis contest ... she is tying to improve this contests each time and now the prizes are better and maybe if more and more people will join these contests then we might have soon a software for it ... but be sure that your work to "keep track of the winners and PMing them" is nothing compared to the necesary work needed to update the contest after each round

    You dont have to pm every winner of each match, you just have to send in one entry that has your tournament picks. Shari usually puts up an example of the format and you can cut and paste that format and put in your own picks in that format or you can just use the bracket software online and cut and paste in the proper format.

    It takes awhile but its worth all the time you spend on this contest, you will find some some obscure 1st/2nd round matches you may never have looked at and some great spots to wager on by studying all these matches and entering this tourney. Its worth the time to enter this contest if you are wagering on the event.
