    line movement

a lot of sharps like to jump on the overnight lines when the book first post them up. that makes me thinking. when you study line movement, do you put more weight on movement aroudn the opening lines or the closing lines? closiing line movement usually indicates new information released before the start of the game.

how would you feel if the line movement is one directional? for example, lions +5...moved to lions +5.5 to lions +6.5 at the close.

how would you feel if there is a reversal? for example, lions opened at +5.5...moved down to +3.5 then came back to +4.5 right before the start of the game.

Opinions vary, but personally I think early movement is more important. I think that a lot more sharps bet early than late.

So for instance on tonights game. I see that clevland opened at -7 and quickly jumped to -2. I take it that SHARPS ate up that +7 in a heartbeat.

This game never under any legitimate circumstance opened at Cleveland -7.

That's clearly bad data from pinnacle. It opened at cris at -2

I thought it was kinda weird also... but I thinks sportsbook and pinnacle is where the lines are showing opening up that high.

scoresandodds.com always has some opening lines that I never see anywhere else.

pico, what do you mean by "putting weight on" line movement? There is certain movement that is clearly a reaction to an injury. And when I see strong movement that isn't a reaction to an injury that surprises me, I do look into what might have caused that movement.

If I don't understand strong movement at any time, I want to know why. But I would say that in general, strong early movement is sharper than strong late movement.
