Im a new gambler i play my own picks with ok luck and follow some cool ppl on here but i have seen people who say they figure out the line on there own and compare it to what vegas has set and they play that way, what all info do they use or you use doing this?

Often when people use that terminology, they are talking about modeling. No one is going to tell you the exact formulas they use in their model, as it takes a lot of time and effort to develop a successful model, and the more people that are using the model, the less of an edge the modeler has. Justin made 2 videos a while back which explain the basics of it:
In practice, though, there are other ways people set their own line, for example, people sometimes make a bet at a square book because it is 'off'. They are essentially using the no-vig line at sharper books as the 'true' line.Comment -
