Hypothetical scenario

If you could work 25 hrs a week and make $85k/yr or 40 and make $110k/yr what would you choose? Obviously, hourly, 25 is better per hour. Same time, $2k extra per month, or maybe $1,400 after taxes, is nothing to cough at.

85k and 110k is too small to choose. If you have a family, kids, home, student loans, you are basically just barely getting by so you have to take the more money option. You dont have a choice

Personally, I could have a lot of finer things in life... travel more... etc. I'm humble enough to be happy for what I have... and work less amount of time. I feel so many things you see on FB... people look like they are REALLY LIVING IT UP!! But... it's called credit. If they lost their job tomorrow... they don't even have a cushion to last 2 months before going UNDER. What kind of life is that though???

I'd rather have a paid off home... paid off car... money in the bank... and live a conservative life. So, the answer is simple... study how to save money... remove the things that waste your money.... that you get NO ENJOYMENT out of OVERALL. You take the job that you work only 25 hours a week.

But... some people love the life "ON THE GO". They get restless when they feel there's nothing to do... probably make more mistakes during this condition. You just need to understand your do's and don'ts.

I had the life earlier.... that I needed to work 60+ hours a week to pay for everything. You aren't going to have that type of energy at 50 years old. I started losing energy at about 38 years old. You never know when your health is going to slip a bit.

I have friends who make $250,000 a year... their wives spend it on useless sh##. Spends so much... doesn't have dikk in the bank. But on FB it looks like they live like celebrities.... its called high cc debt.

That was sort of the point though. If you can make enough just for the essentials but have more time/freedom, or become a 9-5er but end up in that drone sort of state of just going through the motions until work tomorrow to have a little more money to buy a nicer car, house or material stuff, which side do you prefer.

If salary were double for a little more time I think most it is no question. At 300k could retire early if you live a conservative life and invest well. Then all your time is free.

Yes, can always get credit and live like a rockstar. I agree, many people have borrowed so much they have zero room to maneuver. Bankruptcy is simply a matter of time. Life is short though, and as you said you could have health issues or die tomorrow so I can't blame them for living it up on the banks buck trying to run out the clock.

Money, is everyone's girlfriend. She comes, she goes, she comes back. Yao ming. Time never comes back. In my experience I've noticed that when I have money, I spend more. If a friend or family member asks for a loan. I don't think twice. Like Trinity mentioned above money doesn't make you happier. It allows you to buy more material things but once you purchase it, it's on to the next one. I would take the 25/hrs a week or 20 hours/week. With the rest of the time being able to do as I choose.

This is totally true. I took a promo for 3000 a month more than I was making. I had to move to swingshift. I loved my day shift job. Hated the swingshift position. Paid off my house, bought some property, invested and gave up the position after 5 years. Went back to dayshift for less money.

I was debt free though and still relatively young. I totally enjoy my time and freedom from debt right up until today. I learned to never regret any of my decisions.

In essence, money made my life easier and I'm thankful I was afforded the time to enjoy it.

I just spent 2 weeks in a 3rd world nation where I'm sure the guy who was basically assigned to me as a whatever I need guy was making maybe 10,000 a year if he was lucky. Time is always more important than money, so you may be making 15 bucks an hour but your time is more valuable than that. i will always opt for more time than money.

we neeed money to live pay bills buy food etc... im working now but investment strat paying me monthly by jan and every month so i can sit back n collect a few thousand a month and reinvest in sercuities with hihg % like some are at 3%

blew it years ago big win in casino $2500 i should ve started then be penetrating wealthy now no more next big win gets invested

but rather do it by working make like $350 - $450 a week invest half in one stock each month got one strtaed now bought it for $150

so in nove i grab another then dec so they pay every 3 months and the first one pays me n jan then 2nd one pays in feb then 3rd one pays in march with 1st one so after 6months im doubling up every 3 months 2 - 5 thou then more

40 hours is a long week? I owed side business for 20 years and never had a job that was only 40 hours

Tough to choose from those two scenarios.

I will say there’s hope for the ambitious entrepreneurs out there. First two years worked almost 7 days a week building the biz and now I spend somewhere around 25-30 hours a week but try and make every hour spent working on the biz/developing team. Main goal is to live a quality life—time with fam, doing what I want, feeling free, and make great income.
