If Your Not Tracking Wagers Your A Casual Player

    Nothing wrong with it

Pros have notes on every game they bet

Knowing how much you are betting/winning/losing is the first bit of data everyone needs.

    Casual or serious.

Not knowing that accurately is inviting problems.

    Correct.

I keep journals on everything in life, not just sports.
By doing so it's the perfect place to start when you're trying to figure out what exactly went wrong.

Ask any top-rated pro poker player if they keep journals on the hands they played and then ask them if they refer to that journal if a hand they played went south and lost a big pot.

Tel me what their reply would be?

Not tracking your results is recommended for losing players like me. It's easier to justify continuing to gamble.

Results are just one thing to track.

Track your bets and why you made them.

Tracking your bets/models is 100% a no-brainer. How else can you spot bias in your own modeling/decision-making? More importantly, how can you see your own or the Vegas line's mean square error? Even if I'm not betting for a specific period of time, I still track everything. Getting closer and closer to the Vegas numbers is more important to me than even winning percentage at this point. That's how you get there, in my opinion. Get as close to the Vegas number as you possibly can, and when you differ, figure out if it's your fukkup or theirs, and play accordingly.

Just look at your book balances. Either the balances are going up or down over time. That's the best tracker and what really counts.

Keep your worthless gambling spread sheets I say unless you're touting or trying to best another gambler. Waste of time otherwise IMO, what is in the past stays in the past and you can't change that.

Works for me threw the years. Different strokes for different folks. Capping sports daily and winning is all that you need to do to be successful. Spread sheets not that important in the end. If it makes you feel better then do it.

Studying trends and what players and teams are hot and not is what needs to be done.

Just my opinion. I've been sports gambling for 30 years now and I do ok..

JJ you like to show off your spread sheets only when you are losing. Who's cuckoo now? If your gonna have spread sheets present them only when you are winning. Makes your pecker look bigger!!

Another example would be laying ridiculous juice.

Like laying -130 on a team not to make the playoffs on a future bet when the correct odds would be +150.

Too many volume bettors here that lay ridiculous juice and then wonder why they live in a shot gun shack.
Too many insecure bettors are afraid to bet + money dogs because they have no confidence in what they are doing.
