for example most of their spreads/totals open up at -105 on each side. However depending on action, they will move it, whether its -106/-104 ,-110/+100 etc. As long as the line doesn't change what is the reason for this movement? If they get heavy action on 1 side but don't wanna move the line is the side with the heavy action now made -110 in hopes of people betting the better line on the other side?
Also with other books from time to time their are -105/-115 lines. Considering a 1/2 point movement of the line might me too much, do they have this line because they think the odds of the -115 side is more likely or is their another explanation before it.
It's all based on incoming money. If you bet max on a fresh overnight line you will move the line about 4-5 cents. Once it reaches certain break points, the line hops up half a point.
