Manually adjusted vs automatically adjusted odds

In sportsbooks, are odds automatically adjusted or manually adjusted? I would guess that different books may use different methods. It may be an advantage to know which books manually adjust their odds. Given this information, and the time zone the book is based in, one could identify the time of the day when the lines are more likely to be stale. Your thoughts on the subject are great appreciated. Thanks.

Probably the most straightforward way to locate stale odds would simply be to look for books (esp. "recreational"-type books) with off-market lines.

The times you'd most likely see this would be during off-peak hours following line movement at the major market players.

That's what steam betting's all about.

That'd be a function of the sport/matchup/time-of-year in question.

This really is a good question. I wish that the books would chime in so we knew which books were doing what. Recreational books are auto adjusted looking for 50/50 action.

Small market, low limit is also auto adjusted for the most part. Once the limits are raised high enough that's when the line man really comes into play because they may adjust on air or to a respected player.
