the Montreal Canadiens are 5-1 W/L lifetime vs Vegas Golden Knights

Max Pacioretty played for Montreal over 10 seasons, and is now on the Vegas roster. Could he share some tips of wisdom with his teammates as to the goaltending tendencies of Carey Price?

A fair amount of criticism has been lobbed at the Tampa Bay Lightning as they enter the Stanley Cup Semifinal round Sunday against the New York Islanders for the way they were able to use Nikita Kucherov's offseason surgery and subsequent placement on long-term injury reserve to get under the salary cap before the start of the 2020-21 regular season and Kucherov's return for the opening game of the playoffs when there is no salary cap.

I thought the Isles would give the Lightning some problems so I can't say I'm surprised they won. I'm just a little ticked I didn't take a shot with the Isles in game 1 and instead went with the Over which didn't come close to getting there. I think the Isles play solid Defense and both goaltenders in this series are solid so I might tread carefully when looking at the totals going forward.

Yep it looks like a total mismatch here. Montreal finally played a real team tonight and got their ass kicked like everyone expected.

TB will really play hard to even up series. NYI just too juicy a dog tonight! Will be adding live if TB scores first. Hoping NYI can pull off the unthinkable 2-0 jump start.

But the trade market is where the most exciting action could unfold, and the biggest name in the rumor mill is Buffalo Sabres superstar center Jack Eichel.
"And while I’m not saying the star center will get traded before the end of the playoffs, what I’m hearing is that conversations between the Buffalo Sabres and other interested teams are getting more intense and serious," Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic wrote Wednesday.

Definitely a huge victory for Montreal. Now they get 2 at home and one thing tonight did is it sent a message to Vegas that this is going to be a long series. Can't wait until the next game this series is getting exciting.

Islanders coach Trotz complained about a penalty call in Game 2 that enabled Tampa to score making it 2-1 in that game, and play with the lead from that point onward.

Refs did the same thing towards the end of 2p in tonight's Game 3, right after the Islanders tied the game 1-1, they called a weak Interference call against the Islanders, and Tampa took the lead 2-1 again in the game.

Ironic it was Boston coach Cassidy complaining about calls in the previous series which the Islanders beat the Bruins.

Dominique Ducharme tested positive for COVID-19 and will not coach the Montreal Canadiens against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Semifinals on Friday.

The Canada government on June 6 allowed cross-border travel for the final two rounds of the playoffs. The border had been closed to nonessential travel since March 19, 2020.

"He's doing fine. He's at home. It's hard to tell how long he'll be out. We are dealing with Health Quebec and NHL protocols."

According to those protocols, Ducharme must isolate from the team. Luke Richardson will coach the Canadiens in Game 3, assisted by Alexandre Burrows and director of goaltending Sean Burke.

Ducharme is "involved with anything that might happen related to the game plan" and will be involved in the preparations for Game 4 on Sunday, Montreal general manager Marc Bergevin said.

The Canadiens were 15-16-7 under Ducharme after Claude Julien was fired Feb. 24. Montreal (24-21-11) was the No. 4 seed in the Scotia North Division, won the final three games in the best-of-7 Stanley Cup First Round to eliminate the No. 1 seed Toronto Maple Leafs, and swept the No. 2 seed Winnipeg Jets in the second round.

The seven-game winning streak was their longest in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 1993, when they won 11 straight winning their most recent Cup championship. Montreal reached the third round for the first time since the 2014 Eastern Conference Final, a six-game loss to the New York Rangers.

Nobody gave them any respect this year. Hell some people didn't even think they'd make the playoffs but here they are two wins away from the Stanley Cup Finals.

    Did You Know....

The Montreal Canadiens have by far the most Stanley Cup Wins since 1915-Present (the "Finals" era)

24 wins, 9 losses in the Final

Including a total of 34 appearances..... huh? something wrong with math??

    No....

There were 2 years when the Stanley Cup was not awarded. Montreal was involved in one of them.

1919, because of the Spanish flu pandemic, and 2005 because of the NHL lockout.

    Pandemic sound familiar?

The 1919 Stanley Cup Finals was the ice hockey play-off series to determine the 1919 Stanley Cup champions. No champion was declared; the series was canceled due to an outbreak of Spanish flu after five games had been played. It was the only time in the history of the Stanley Cup that it was not awarded due to a no-decision after playoffs were held.

Hosting the series in Seattle was the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA) champion Seattle Metropolitans playing off against the National Hockey League (NHL) champion Montreal Canadiens.

Both teams had won two games, lost two, and tied one before health officials were forced to cancel the deciding game of the series. Most of the Canadiens players and their manager George Kennedy fell ill with the flu and were hospitalized, leaving only three healthy players.
