NFL Player News - Week 4

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley injury timeline update

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) is expected to be sidelined anywhere from four to eight weeks - with the longer timeline being the more likely of the two outcomes - with the high-ankle sprain he suffered in Week 3 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

High-ankle sprains are known to linger if not given enough time to properly heal. The Giants will move forward with Wayne Gallman as their starter while Barkley is out. They have Elijhaa Penny on the roster too, but he's a fullback. They should sign another back or two to the active roster. Jon Hillman and Austin Walter are on their practice squad at this time. We'll see if they promote from within or sign someone off the street.

CAR - QB Cam Newton ruled out for Week 4

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) will not play in Week 4 against the Houston Texans.'What Cam needs right now is time and rest for his foot. We want him at 100 percent when he's ready, so there's no exact timetable for his return. At this point, we're going to go forward with Kyle (Allen) as our starter,' head coach Ron Rivera said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's quick, but the team needs to do everything possible to make sure that Newton is as close to 100 percent as he can be before his return. Allen had a good debut for the Panthers on Sunday. He threw for four touchdowns in the Panthers 38-20 victory over the Cardinals in Week 3.

CIN - WR A.J. Green not returning in Week 4

    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) will not return to practice this week or play in Week 4 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Zac Taylor.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Who knows how long it's going to take for Green to return to the field. He may not return until he's 100 percent healthy because Green is in the final year of his contract. The Bengals move on with Tyler Boyd, John Ross and Auden Tate as their top trio of wide receivers.

NE - No major injury for WR Julian Edelman

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating an earlier report, New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (chest, rib) is reportedly not dealing with a major injury after leaving the game for good in Week 3 versus the New York Jets, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see what Edelman can do this week in practice. X-rays came back negative and there is some hope he may be able to play in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills.

ARI - WR Michael Crabtree cut

    Source: AZCardinals.com

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Crabtree was released Monday, Sept. 23.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crabtree didn't do much in his brief time with the team. He played 32 snaps, was only targeted five times and caught four passes for 22 yards. The Cardinals move forward with Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk as their top wide receivers. Damiere Byrd is the team's No. 3 receiver and has played 206 snaps in three games this season. Rookies Keesean Johnson and Andy Isabella will compete for snaps too.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold progress update

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

Updating a previous report, New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) will begin cardio this week and is hoping to play in Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles. While his spleen has shrunk 'a little' as his body continues to fight mononucleosis, it still is not where it needs to be to gain medical clearance.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on Darnold next week in practice. The Jets have a bye in Week 4 and they'll be preparing for an Eagles team coming off a long week (Eagles play on Thursday night this week).

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton update

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) aggravated the quadriceps injury he had coming into the game Sunday, Sept. 22.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just as the Colts offense seemed to have more life on Sunday. Keep an eye on this situation as the week goes on. Hilton re-injured his quad a couple of plays before he scored a touchdown, but he didn't want to leave the game before the drive was over because he knew he wasn't coming back. He'll have tests done for re-evaluation.

LAC - WR Travis Benjamin may miss Week 4

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (quadriceps) is considered questionable for Week 4 because of a quadriceps injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin is the team's No. 3 wide receiver behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. He doesn't get that many looks with those two dominating the targets. He's been targeted 10 times in three games and has only four catches for 17 yards in 2019.

LAC - TE Virgil Green day-to-day

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers TE Virgil Green (groin) is dealing with a groin injury and is considered day-to-day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers have Lance Kendricks as the main receiving tight end with Green banged up and Hunter Henry out with a knee injury. Until Henry returns (maybe in 2-4 more weeks) we won't be too excited about a Chargers tight end.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs may see more targets

Source: The Athletic - Jimmy Durkin

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs is a player that the team would like to get more involved in the passing game, according to head coach Jon Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jacobs could use more work in the passing game. He's a talented back and he's no slouch as a receiver out of the backfield either. Jacobs, a 2019 first-round pick, has only been targeted three times in three games so far this season.

BUF - No timetable for TE Tyler Kroft

Source: The Athletic - Joe Buscaglia

Buffalo Bills TE Tyler Kroft (ankle, foot) does not have timetable for his return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kroft has yet to play a game this year. He was trending in the right direction but suffered a setback in practice last week. He missed Week 3 and his status going forward has no timetable. Dawson Knox, their rookie tight end from Ole Miss, is the lead pass-catcher at the position.

ATL - Atlanta RBs banged up

Source: The Athletic - Jason Butt

Atlanta Falcons RBs Ito Smith (concussion) and Kenjon Barner (concussion) are in the league's concussion protocol, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Falcons have Devonta Freeman as their lead back but they could use guys like Brian Hill or Qadree Ollison with Smith and Barner banged up.

PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery a good bet to play Week 4

Source: NBC Sports Philadelphia - Reuben Frank

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (calf) stands a good chance of playing in Week 4 after missing Week 3 with a calf injury, according to comments made by head coach Doug Pederson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good news for Carson Wentz and the Eagles passing game. We'll see if Jeffery can get a full practice in at some point early in the week. The Eagles travel to play against the Packers on Thursday night in Week 4.

    Wednesday Update

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton unsure about readiness for Week 4

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quad) missed the second half of the game in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons after injuring his quad late in the first half.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation as the week of practice goes on. The Colts offense finally showed more life in Week 3, and QB Jacoby Brissett had a fine game. It would be great if they could continue to build cohesion on offense with Hilton out there as the top target. While Hilton believes he's feeling better, he isn't ready to say if he'll be able to play in Week 4 versus the Oakland Raiders.

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley seeking second opinion

    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) underwent testing and was examined recently by team consultant Dr. Martin O'Malley - an ankle specialist at Hospital for Special Surgery.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A high-ankle sprain can linger if not given enough time to heal. The reports from around the team indicate we could be looking at a 4-8 week absence (with the longer time period more likely) for the talented back. Barkley is also scheduled to meet with Dr. Robert Anderson for an additional opinion Wednesday, Sept. 25.

CAR - QB Cam Newton out indefinitely

Source: The Athletic - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) is out indefinitely with a Lisfranc injury in his foot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reports coming out of Carolina suggest that surgery will not be an option here. That means Newton could miss anywhere from 4-8 weeks as he recovers. The Panthers have a bye in Week 7, and they might not bring Newton back after that. We'll see how he progresses and if they feel like a return in November is possible. Kyle Allen continues as the starter for the Panthers.

PIT - TE Vance McDonald in doubt for Week 4

    Source: DKPittsburghSports.com - Dale Lolley

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (shoulder) was spotted at the team's facility with his arm in a sling Tuesday, Sept. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McDonald has talent and seems to be a favorite target of QB Mason Rudolph...but the guy is always banged up. He played in only 15 snaps against the 49ers in Week 3. Xavier Grimble and Zach Gentry would get more work for the Steelers if McDonald has to miss time.

HOU - RB C.J. Anderson working out for HOU

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Free-agent RB C.J. Anderson (Lions) is working out for the Houston Texans Tuesday, Sept. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the first known interest for Anderson. He's a veteran back who can step in and start if a team needs. The Texans already have Carlos Hyde but they may feel that Anderson's experience, intelligence and rushing ability would be an upgrade.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson likely out again

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (groin) is expected to miss another game in Week 4, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Earlier reports speculate that Jackson is out until Week 5 at the earliest. We'll see how he continues to recover as the team monitors his injury closely.

NYG - NY Giants take a look at two running backs

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Free-agent RBs Fozzy Whittaker and Zach Zenner recently worked out for the New York Giants.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is also taking a look at Benny Cunningham. They need to add another running back to the active roster. Wayne Gallman is the only healthy running back with Saquon Barkley banged up. Elijhaa Penny is a fullback and the team has two running backs (Jon Hillman, Austin Walter) on the practice squad.

MIN - Chad Beebe to need 1-2 months to heal

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Minnesota Vikings WR Chad Beebe (ankle), who was placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Sept. 24, is expected to need one to two months of rest and rehab to recover from torn ligaments in his ankle.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beebe was carted off in Week 3 against the Raiders. He's opting to not have surgery and will instead let the ligaments heal naturally.

PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery logs full practice Tuesday

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (calf) fully participated in the team's walkthrough Tuesday, Sept. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery should be good to go for Thursday night's game against the Packers. He missed Week 3 against the Lions but will be their No. 1 wide receiver in Week 4.

TB - QB Blaine Gabbert headed to IR

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Blaine Gabbert (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gabbert was week-to-week with this shoulder injury but the team decided to shut him down. Ryan Griffin will continue to be the backup to Jameis Winston.

GB - QB cites need to get WR Davante Adams more looks

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams saw only four targets in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos - his fewest in a game in nearly three years - and QB Aaron Rodgers has made it clear that Adams needs to be more opportunities.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos made it difficult for Adams to get open. Rodgers had plenty of time to throw as the Broncos didn't get a sack and barely made him feel any sort of pressure. Teams are trying everything to slow down Adams and make Rodgers go elsewhere with the ball. However, we should see the team work to get him more involved. He's still a WR1 for Fantasy GMs every week.

PHI - TE Dallas Goedert expected to go

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (calf) is expected to play in Week 4 Thursday, Sept. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles are playing on Thursday night against the Packers and having Goedert would give the offense yet another weapon. He only played nine snaps in Week 3 against the Lions.

    Thursday Update

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon to report Thursday

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon plans to end his holdout and report to the team Thursday, Sept. 26, according to sources. He will not play in the team's Week 4 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon will be back for the team's Week 5 game against the Broncos. He may be eased in upon his return. Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson should both get plenty of work against the Dolphins in Week 4. When Gordon is in there, Ekeler becomes more of a flex play, Jackson goes to the bench and Gordon has RB1 potential when he's up to full speed.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon won't play this week

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating an earlier report, Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon isn't expected to play in Week 4, even if he reports this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things are getting closer for Gordon, so plan accordingly. If he shows up this week, he could play Oct. 6 against the Denver Broncos.

CLE - WR Odell Beckham takes part in practice

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hip) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Browns take on the Ravens in Week 4. Beckham is a top-notch WR1 in a game the Browns need to win in a bad way.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews misses practice

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (foot) didn't practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andrews could be limited by this foot for the entire week. Let's see if he can practice by Friday.

DAL - WR Amari Cooper undergoes MRI

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (ankle) underwent an MRI Wednesday, Sept. 25, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The report says that this examination was just precautionary and the veteran receiver is fine. Cooper is a top-10 fantasy wide receiver against the Saints in Week 4.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton sitting out

    Source: NFL.com

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

His status for Week 4 is up in the air. Check back on Friday to see if he can at least be a limited participant in practice.

PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery off injury report

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (calf) was removed from the injury report Wednesday, Sept. 25, and is good to go for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery will be back on Thursday night against the Packers. He's going to draw tough coverage from an improved Packers defense. That makes Jeffery more of a WR3 or flex play in our eyes this week.

PIT - Shoulder sprain for TE Vance McDonald

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (shoulder) is dealing with a shoulder sprain but isn't expected to miss an extended amount of time, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's an interesting news item considering the Steelers just traded Seattle for Nick Vannett. The Steelers might just be covering their bases in case McDonald needs to miss more time than they are anticipating.

LAC - WR Mike Williams misses practice

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams has been a bit banged up in recent weeks. Make sure he practices on Friday before considering him for Week 4.

GB - RB Jamaal Williams fully practices

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (neck) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is going to split time with Aaron Jones on Thursday night against the Eagles. That makes Williams more of a deep flex play and Jones more of a RB2 for Fantasy GMs in Week 4.

GB - RB Aaron Jones ready to play

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is good to go for Thursday night against the Eagles. He's splitting time with Jamaal Williams, and that makes Jones more of a RB2 for Fantasy GMs in Week 4.

HOU - RB Carlos Hyde practices in full

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hyde is the lead back for the Texans and that has fantasy value but perhaps not as much as one would think. We see him as a RB3 against the Panthers in Week 4.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker doesn't practice Wednesday

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Check back to see if Walker can get a practice in by Friday. He's a low-end TE1 against the Falcons in Week 4.

ATL - RB Ito Smith doesn't practice Wednesday

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Smith is down for Week 4, more work would be on the plate for Devonta Freeman. Watch to see if a guy like Brian Hill gets more work as a reserve if Smith misses time.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary doesn't practice Wednesday

    Source: Patriots.com

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary can have plenty of fantasy value, even with a limited role. We'll see if the talented rookie can get back to practice by Friday.

NE - WR Julian Edelman on the field Wednesday

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (chest) is participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's a good sign for Edelman's availability in Week 4. Make sure to monitor his status as the week of practice rolls on.

PHI - TE Dallas Goedert on track to play

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert (calf) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25, and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Having another weapon for Carson Wentz will help. However, Fantasy GMs aren't expecting much from Goedert as the No. 2 tight end behind star player Zach Ertz.

KC - RB Damien Williams not on field

    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams could miss another game with this knee injury. Monitor his practice status as the week goes on...and put in a waiver claim for Darrell Williams or Darwin Thompson.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (hip) didn't practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Check back on Friday to see what Godwin's practice status is. The Bucs could use all the help they can get in Week 4 as they travel across the country to face the Rams.

    Friday Update

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon will reclaim starting role

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon will regain his starting job once he's ready to return to the lineup, according to head coach Anthony Lynn Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Austin Ekeler was still a solid flex with RB2 upside in PPR leagues last year, and Gordon isn't the most durable back, especially at the end of the season. Perhaps the early time off will help his longevity this year, but it's also possible that Gordon is less prepared for the rigors of the season after taking time off.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton sidelined again

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (quadriceps) missed a second straight day of practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton hasn't ruled out playing, but the Colts don't need him to beat the Raiders and they shouldn't risk a longer absence after he already had to be pulled once because of this injury. There's no obvious wide receiver to turn to in fantasy leagues if Hilton is out, but tight ends Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle could be better choices.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews does not practice

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andrews is probably on track to play, but he hasn't been as effective getting downfield since this injury surfaced. He's a boom/bust play and Nick Boyle might be a solid replacement for fantasy lineups if Andrews can't play.

DET - WR Danny Amendola sits again

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Danny Amendola (chest) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Amendola could be set up for a big game vs. Kansas City if he can play, but it looks like he might not. If he's out, TJ Hockenson should be a bigger part of the passing game in a matchup that will likely force Matthew Stafford to throw the ball a lot.

PIT - TE Vance McDonald misses practice

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nick Vannett is a brand new Steeler, but he could start at tight end this weekend. Rookie Zach Gentry is the team's only other option at tight end if McDonald is out. He isn't a viable play until Mason Rudolph gets it on track anyway.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary limited

Source: The Buffalo News - Jay Skurski

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 26, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary needs to get in a full practice tomorrow to have a good chance to play, but he'll still be very risky against a tough Patriots defense. He's able to create fantasy points with a smaller role behind Frank Gore because of his big-play ability. We'd have Singletary as a deep 'what the heck' flex if he plays in Week 4.

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley avoids surgery

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) received a second opinion, which didn't recommend surgery on his ankle.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surgery and no Injured Reserve designation for Barkley according to Giants head coach Pat Shurmur. Look for Barkley to return at the latest around Week 12 (the Giants have a Week 11 bye). In the meantime, Wayne Gallman will be their lead back although we don't think he's getting a Barkley-like workload.

LAC - RB Justin Jackson limited Thursday

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Justin Jackson (calf) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Jackson isn't a full participant in practice tomorrow, it might be time to downgrade his sleeper status. There's not reason for the team to risk a worse injury in garbage time. Troymaine Pope is also on the roster. We'll know whether Jackson is a safe flex play based on whether Pope is active.

LAC - WR Mike Williams stays sidelined

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) didn't practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers don't need him to win on Sunday in Miami. Look for Dontrelle Inman to possibly get the start with Travis Benjamin also banged up, making him a DFS sleeper because of the matchup.

DEN - RB Royce Freeman remains limited

Source: The Denver Post - Kyle Fredrickson

Denver Broncos RB Royce Freeman (shoulder) remained limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Phillip Lindsay is hot and could handle more of the work with Freeman nursing this issue that he left the game for briefly last week.

NYG - WR Russell Shepard lands on IR

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants WR Russell Shepard (foot) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Sept. 26, due to a sprained foot. RB Jon Hilliman was
    promoted from the practice squad.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilliman is worth tracking in deep dynasty leagues but was a nondescript prospect who had a good enough camp to land on the practice squad. The Giants must not have liked the veteran backs they worked out earlier this week.

KC - RB LeSean McCoy returns to full practice

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) was back to a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy is safe to fire up as your RB2 this week. He'll get most of the calls in the red zone for an offense that puts up over 30 points a game.

CLE - WR Rashard Higgins misses practice

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Higgins is struggling to get back on the field after a Week 1 injury. Baker Mayfield has excellent chemistry with him and probably misses his presence, but it doesn't look like he'll be back this week vs. Baltimore.

ATL - RB Ito Smith upgraded to limited

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith (concussion) was upgraded to limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 26, as he progresses through the concussion protocol.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Smith is back, Devonta Freeman's outlook takes a hit, lowering both his floor and ceiling against a stiff Titans run defense.

ATL - WR Calvin Ridley still limited

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley (hip) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 26. It was his second straight day with the designation.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ridley slowed down last year after he landed on the injury report. He's got more of a bust now in the weekly boom/bust profile in light of this designation.

WAS - WR Terry McLaurin listed as limited

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no reason to think McLaurin will be out on Sunday, but his practice participation tomorrow is key. If he can't go, Paul Richardson will get even more looks against a weak Giants secondary, and Trey Quinn could also be a bigger part of the offense. Look for Kelvin Harmon to get some more snaps if fellow rookie McLaurin is out.

CHI - TE Trey Burton practices for second straight day

    Source: ChicagoBears.com

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) got in another full practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burton might work out as a PPR play vs. Minnesota with Mitchell Trubisky throwing more near the line of scrimmage.

CHI - WR Taylor Gabriel remains sidelined

    Source: ChicagoBears.com

Chicago Bears WR Taylor Gabriel (concussion) remained out of practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gabriel might miss the Minnesota game after the game of his career against Washington on Monday. Anthony Miller and Javon Wims might see more time if Gabriel isn't cleared for Sunday.

DAL - WR Amari Cooper limited in Thursday's practice

    Source: NewOrleansSaints.com

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (ankle) was limited in practice, Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper is on track to play after getting an MRI earlier in the week. He'll draw a lot of Marshon Lattimore in this one, but is difficult to bench after his strong start.

TEN - No practice for TE Delanie Walker

    Source: TitansOnline.com

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker is a solid start as long as he is active and should get veteran deference in both practice rest and lineup setting.

NE - WR Julian Edelman a limited participant

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (chest) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Signs point to Edelman playing and he's a solid WR2 if he is on the field vs. Buffalo.

NE - RB Rex Burkhead listed as limited

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (foot) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead hasn't stayed healthy for long stretches so it's concerning to see him on the injury report. James White and Damien Harris could gain value if this becomes a bigger issue for Burkhead. He's a what the heck flex vs Buffalo with Sony Michel struggling, but there's more risk now.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen remains limited

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (back) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Olsen will likely play and be a solid TE1 option. He is holding value through the quarterback change, but probably has a higher injury risk than his peers because of his age.

KC - RB Damien Williams out again

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) was not scheduled to participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

LeSean McCoy should start and has RB2 value this week, but Darrel Williams should also get flex consideration with some extra upside if McCoy hurts his ankle again and has to leave the game for the second straight week.

TB - WR Chris Godwin out of practice

    Source: PewterReport.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (hip) remains out of practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Godwin is considered day-to-day with this hip injury and could be a game-time decision for Week 4. It's a tough matchup against the Rams this week, so make other plans if you have Godwin.

Depends on the names out there. With McLaurin dinged up. Paul Richardson may be a good play.

    Saturday Update

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon may play Week 4

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon may be active for the team's Week 4 game since RB Justin Jackson (calf) has been ruled out. Head coach Anthony Lynn said the team will be careful with Gordon's snaps if he plays.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson is possibly out for multiple weeks. Gordon should be eased back in and not trusted in fantasy lineups this week, but he will also make Troymaine Pope a less attractive sleeper if he is active.

GB - WR Davante Adams undergoes MRI

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) underwent an MRI on his injured toe Friday, Sept. 27, but the injury is not believed to be serious, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Exhale if you have him on your team. He might miss some time, but the hope is that he won't be affected by this injury when he returns. He has more risk in his profile going forward as toe injuries rarely get better except with rest.

DET - Questionable tag for QB Matthew Stafford

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hip) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 27, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We expect Stafford to play but we never like to see a player pop up on the injury report on Friday. We'll watch his performance closely, but he is still a high ceiling streamer in a potential shootout with the Chiefs.

NE - WR Julian Edelman not a lock to play Week 4

Source: NFL Network - Michael Giardi

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (chest) is preparing to travel with the team, but he is reportedly not a 'lock' to play in Week 4 versus the Buffalo Bills. However, he has definitely been trending in the right direction, according to a source via NFL Network's Michael Giardi.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman will be a solid WR3/Flex start if active against the Bills. UDFA rookie Jakobi Meyers will get an extended look if Edelman is out.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews says he'll play

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (foot) said Friday, Sept. 27, he's getting closer to 100 percent while dealing with what coach John Harbaugh said is a non-structural foot injury and missing practice Wednesday and Thursday. Andrews added that he has no doubt he'll play in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andrews ceiling is lower, but he's still a boom/bust TE1 option and the best Ravens tight end to plug in this week. The Ravens bye is not until Week 8.

KC - RB Damien Williams remains out

Source: The Athletic - Nate Taylor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (knee) is not practicing Friday, Sept. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

LeSean McCoy will get the start and deserves RB2 status this week. Darrel Williams will also get enough work to be a flex option this week.

DAL - Optimism surrounds WR Amari Cooper

Source: 105.3 The Fan - Mike Fisher

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (ankle) should be ready to play in Week 4 despite dealing with an ankle issue this week, according to team owner Jerry Jones. 'Yes, I feel very good about that,' Jones said of Cooper on 105.3 The Fan on Friday, Sept. 27. 'I think we're in good shape.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper is a must start, but he is facing Marshon Lattimore and the team might be downplaying his injury. Devin Smith and Randall Cobb have a little more upside in light of Cooper's MRI earlier this week.

SEA - Questionable tag for RB Rashaad Penny

    Source: Seahawks.com

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 27, but is listed as questionable for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny has a chance to play, but is more a threat to Chris Carson's value than a strong play. He could gain value if he doesn't aggravate his injury and Carson fumbles again.

DET - WR Danny Amendola's status in question

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Danny Amendola (chest) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 27, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Amendola could play, but if he doesn't TJ Hockenson should be a big part of the passing game. He might be anyway with the need to open up the offense to keep up with Patrick Mahomes.

PIT - TE Vance McDonald sits again

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 27.

McDonald has a chance to play Monday night according to the team, but this isn't looking good. Get your Week 4 starting tight end from somewhere else.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary listed as questionable

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 27, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary should have a smaller workload this week if he is active and is not a safe play against the stout Patriots defense, but he shouldn't be on any waiver wires.

LAC - Week 4 injury report for LA Chargers

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers PK Mike Badgley (groin), TE Virgil Green (groin), TE Hunter Henry (knee), WR Mike Williams and RB Justin Jackson (calf) did not practice Friday, Sept. 27, and have been ruled out for Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. WR Travis Benjamin (hip) did not practice for a third straight day and is listed as doubtful. CB Casey Hayward (back) and LB Drue Tranquill (ankle) returned to a limited practice Friday and are listed as questionable. CB Michael Davis (hamstring), LB Denzel Perryman (ankle) and C Mike Pouncey (not injury related) fully participated in practice and have been removed from the injury report.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sean Culkin will get the start at tight end with Green out. The Chargers are clearly treating this as a get healthy week against the Dolphins and resting anyone who isn't 100%.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker is the only safe play in the Titans passing game and will face a Falcons defense that just lost Keanu Neal.

    Sunday Update

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon joins active roster

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon was added to the 53-man roster Sunday, Sept. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon is likely to play in Week 4 against the Dolphins. He's going to be limited as he's eased into action after holding out. Gordon has 'what the heck' flex value in a game against the Dolphins the Chargers should be able to win easily.

PIT - TE Vance McDonald likely will miss game

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Vance McDonald (shoulder) did not participate in practice Saturday, Sept. 28, and is listed as doubtful for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Without McDonald (and Xavier Grimble) the Steelers could turn to new addition Nick Vannett.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert ready to play

    Source: Bengals.com

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (non-injury) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Eifert is healthy and he's an effective player for the Bengals offense. He's a TE2 with upside for Fantasy GMs against the Steelers this week.

CIN - WR Tyler Boyd excited for homecoming

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd is amped for the team's Week 4 Monday night game in his home state of Pennsylvania when the Bengals visit the Pittsburgh Steelers. 'I'm excited because I haven't played on that field the past two years, and for me to finally get out there and show the people where I'm from how good of a player I still am is going to mean a lot,' Boyd said. 'It's Monday night and no one wants to put nothing bad on TV, so I'm going to go out and play my tail off.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Boyd can get into the end zone this week. He's been leading the team in targets but has yet to score a touchdown in 2019. Boyd should be in line for around 10 targets once again in Week 4. We see him as a WR2 with upside against the Steelers.

CHI - WR Anthony Miller could see more reps

    Source: NFL.com

Chicago Bears WR Anthony Miller could see more offensive snaps in Week 4's game against the Minnesota Vikings, as a result of WR Taylor Gabriel (concussion) being ruled out, according to head coach Matt Nagy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller has talent but this year he's not getting used that much. Over three games, Miller has run 43 routes, been targeted five times and only has two catches for 17 yards. We'll see if the team does use him more with Gabriel banged up. As a rookie in 2018, Miller caught 33 passes for 423 yards and a whopping seven touchdowns.

SEA - RB Rashaad Penny a game-time decision

    Source: NFL.com

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (hamstring) is considered a game-time decision for Week 4's game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carroll said there's a 'good chance' that Penny is going to be available for the game against the Cardinals. If he does play, the role should be smaller as the team leans on Chris Carson as their lead back.

    Monday Update

NYG - RB Wayne Gallman accounts for two TDs

    Source: NFL.com

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries against the Washington Redskins in Week 4. He also caught six passes for 55 yards and one touchdown during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gallman was more effective than his earlier stints on the field, and finished drives well for the Giants. The team shouldn't be inclined to sign a veteran this week, leaving Gallman as a volume RB2 against the Vikings next week.

CLE - RB Nick Chubb runs wild in Baltimore

    Source: ESPN

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed 20 times for 165 yards and three touchdowns in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens and he added three receptions for 18 yards on four targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chubb was a week winner and broke the back of the Ravens. He is hitting his stride heading into a trip to San Francisco.

CLE - QB Baker Mayfield throws for 342 yards

    Source: ESPN

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield completed 20-of-30 passes for a season-best 342 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens. He was also sacked just once, a season low.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mayfield was much better in this one against a Ravens defense that has been on the ropes the last two weeks and didn't exactly shut down Kyler Murray in Week 2. Cleveland faces an underrated and rested San Francisco defense next week while the Ravens go to Pittsburgh. Mayfield is at least a streamer going forward after doing this while getting very little from Odell Beckham in this one.

DET - QB Matthew Stafford tosses three TDs

    Source: ESPN

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 21-of-34 passes for 291 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs while adding 18 rushing yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford was reportedly playing in pain with a hip/back issue, but you couldn't tell from his play. He could have had an even bigger day were it not for numerous team miscues in the red zone, including his own fumble and a Kerryon Johnson fumble that was returned for a score. The rest of the bye week will be helpful as Stafford arguably outplayed Patrick Mahomes in this one.

KC - No touchdowns for QB Patrick Mahomes

    Source: ESPN

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 24-of-42 passes for 315 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions. He also ran six times for 54 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs scored on the ground three times and once via the defense, so Mahomes didn't get in on the action, but he still wasn't a bust. This will be one of his low points this year and this game just shows how his floor is higher than his peers. He'll get the Colts next week.

BUF - RB Frank Gore hits the century mark

    Source: ESPN

Buffalo Bills RB Frank Gore rushed 17 times for 109 yards in Week 4 against the New England Patriots and he did not have any catches on one target.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gore had two long runs in this one and was the embodiment of the Bills determination despite the loss. If Devin Singletary isn't ready to face the Titans next week, Gore will remain a flex or emergency RB2 option.

NE - RB James White leads way with eight grabs

    Source: ESPN

New England Patriots RB James White posted team highs with eight catches, 57 yards and 10 targets in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White was the only thing in the Patriots offense that was working with any consistency in Buffalo today. He could go back to being a low ceiling PPR option against a Washington team that will have trouble competing next week.

OAK - QB Derek Carr undergoes X-rays

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Scott Bair

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (undisclosed) underwent precautionary X-rays after suffering an undisclosed injury during the Week 4 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mike Glennon is a solid backup, so if Carr is iffy at all for next week's game vs. Chicago, they should err on the side of giving Carr rest. It sounds like he should probably be ok.

ATL - WR Julio Jones has decent outing

    Source: NFL.com

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones caught four passes for 52 yards against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. He was targeted seven times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones was a nonfactor as Matt Ryan rarely got time to throw downfield. He is still one of the most valuable players in fantasy and will likely bounce back vs. Houston next week.

ATL - Nine receptions for WR Mohamed Sanu

    Source: NFL.com

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu caught nine passes for 91 yards against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. He was targeted 12 times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanu came up big because the Falcons passing game couldn't attack downfield with effectiveness. He's a high floor PPR bench depth option. This will likely be one of his high water marks on the season.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey totals 179 yards

    Source: ESPN

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed 27 times for 93 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against the Houston Texans and he added 10 grabs for 86 yards on his 10 targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another Sunday and another day of incredible production from McCaffrey.

CAR - Kyle Allen doesn't do much in win

    Source: ESPN

Carolina Panthers QB Kyle Allen completed 24-of-34 passes for 232 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 4 against the Houston Texans while also losing three fumbles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen was the victim of timely strip sacks, but he moved the offense well and didn't look overwhelmed despite the step up in defensive quality from the Arizona matchup last week. He hasn't lost in three career starts and could be a viable QB2/Superflex next week against Jacksonville, especially if Jalen Ramsey doesn't suit up again.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman posts 100 total yards

    Source: NFL.com

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman caught eight passes for 72 yards against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. He also rushed for 28 yards on 12 carries during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Freeman's numbers came as a function of the downfield passing game fizzling and Matt Ryan settling for short passes. Ito Smith got the goal line opportunity again and converted, so Freeman has a low weekly ceiling to go with his low weekly floor. He's only a flex option against Houston and his value is not rising despite the good result.

ATL - QB Matt Ryan throws for 397 yards

    Source: NFL.com

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 35-for-53 for 397 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ryan was constantly under pressure and didn't play as well as his numbers suggest. He was settling for short passes most of the afternoon and never got anything going in the downfield passing game to Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones. Next week, he'll face a Texans defense that made some timely strip sacks against Kyle Allen today.

HOU - Eight total touches for RB Duke Johnson

    Source: ESPN

Houston Texans RB Duke Johnson rushed six times for 56 yards in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers and he added two catches for 22 yards on three targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson actually got more snaps in this one and had the biggest play for the offense this afternoon, but he is still getting fewer opportunities to touch the ball than Carlos Hyde. He's only bench depth to hope for growth in opportunity, and not an essential hold heading into what could be a productive game vs. Atlanta.

TEN - WR Corey Davis finds end zone

    Source: NFL.com

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis caught five passes for 91 yards and one touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4. He was targeted six times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis had one of his 3-4 good games this year that will come in random weeks. Next week will bring a Bills defense that shut down Tom Brady today, so Davis is best left on the bench if you want to claim him on the waiver wire or are relieved that you don't have to drop him this week.

TEN - RB Derrick Henry rushes for 100 yards

    Source: NFL.com

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed for 100 yards on 27 carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Henry had an ideal game script. but never had the back breaking run that puts fantasy teams over the top. He has been a pleasant surprise considering the choppy waters his team has created, making him a solid RB2 despite the tough matchup with the Bills next week.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews finds the end zone

    Source: ESPN

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews posted four grabs for 31 yards and a touchdown on eight targets in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andrews has been missing practices and residing on the injury report, but bounced back this week after a down Week 3. He should remain in lineups against the Steelers next week.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard catches seven passes

    Source: NFL.com

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard caught seven passes for 76 yards against the Washington Redskins in Week 4. He was targeted nine times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shepard has quickly become Daniel Jones favorite target. He may lose some targets when Golden Tate comes back next week and the Vikings are a tough matchup, but he should still be in WR3/Flex consideration.

CLE - WR Odell Beckham nearly invisible in win

    Source: ESPN

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. posted two receptions for 20 yards on seven targets in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham was quiet in this one, but the Browns didn't need him to make plays because so many of his teammates did. He'll probably bounce back in a big way against San Francisco under the Monday night lights.

NYG - QB Daniel Jones throws for 225 yards

    Source: NFL.com

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones went 23-for-31 for 225 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Washington Redskins in Week 4. He also rushed for 33 yards on five carries during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones had a few mistakes in this one but mostly took advantage of a poor Washington defense, albeit to a middling fantasy result. Next week against the Vikings will be tougher, but he will get Golden Tate back. Jones is more viable in 2QB/Superflex in typical leagues now that he has cooled off.

CHI - QB Mitchell Trubisky injured

Source: Chicago Tribune - Rich Campbell

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (arm) left the Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings due to a left arm injury in the first quarter. He went to the locker room and has been replaced by QB Chase Daniel.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The pass offense is crisper and more effective with Daniel and the offense might not be hurt all that much by Trubisky's departure. The Raiders are up next week and Trubisky could be looking at an extended absence.

WAS - HC won't commit to QB Case Keenum

    Source: ESPN

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum might not be the starter going forward, as head coach Jay Gruden said Sunday, Sept. 29 that he isn't sure what he'll do heading into Week 5. He said QB Dwayne Haskins won't necessarily start just because of his draft status, though. 'You're not handed the keys because of where you're drafted. You have to earn the right,' Gruden said. Keenum was 6-of-11 for 37 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Week 4 against the New York Giants.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington plays New England next week so they might want to let Haskins have another week to learn on the bench.

BUF - QB Josh Allen in concussion protocol

    Source: Buffalo Bills PR

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (concussion) left the Week 4 game against the New England Patriots in the second half and is in the concussion protocol. Allen was having a disastrous day before leaving, going 13-of-28 for 153 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions with one rushing score.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen was going for the first down on a third down scramble and left himself open for the huge hit. While he was struggling, he would have given the Bills a better chance to win than Matt Barkley did. Allen will get the Titans next week if he can clear protocol.

DET - TE T.J. Hockenson injured

    Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson (head) left the team's Week 4 game early and is being evaluated for a concussion.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He suffered a concussion but will have a bye week to recover from the scary looking injury. He broke a fall from a hurdle attempt with his head. He was on his way to a big game and his arrow is still pointing up out of this game.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry may have concussion

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Andrew Gribble

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (head) left the Week 4 game early and is being evaluated for a concussion.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Landry was having a breakout game with Baker Mayfield before leaving. His outlook is brighter going forward but he could miss next week's game at San Francisco, but he does have an extra day to clear protocol since the game is Monday night.
