NFL Player News - Week 16

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

LAR - RB Todd Gurley dealing with inflammation

    Source: TheRams.com - Myles Simmons

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) is dealing with some knee inflammation but is expected to be fine, according to head coach Sean McVay. Gurley will be considered day-to-day this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Relatively good news for Gurley here. We'll be staying on this one for you this week.

PHI - QB Nick Foles expected to remain the starter

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles will likely continue to start at quarterback for the rest of the season, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carson Wentz is not being shut down for the season but Foles will remain the starter. The Eagles are still in the playoff hunt and we can't imagine Wentz returning to the field unless they're in the postseason.

LAC - TE Hunter Henry on the field Monday

    Source: Chargers.com

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee) participated in practice Monday, Dec. 17. He is still on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stephen A. Smith has to be excited about this news. Now that Henry is back at practice, it opens up a 21-day window for the Chargers to decide whether or not to activate him or shut him down. We'd be shocked if Henry returns to the field in the regular season but a return in the postseason is not outside the realm of possibility.

KC - WR Sammy Watkins day-to-day

Source: The Kansas City Star - Brooke Pryor

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is considered day-to-day at this point and his status for Week 16 is uncertain.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watkins is day-to-day but the Chiefs just might shut him down until the playoffs. Fantasy GMs have different/better options out there.

KC - RB Spencer Ware making progress

Source: The Kansas City Star - Brooke Pryor

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury and is considered day-to-day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ware can take all the time he needs. Damien Williams proved to be a great lead back for the Chiefs in Week 15. Darrell Williams does a nice job as a power/reserve back and Charcandrick West is a capable receiving back.

GB - RB Kapri Bibbs claimed by Packers

    Source: Packers.com

The Green Bay Packers claimed RB Kapri Bibbs off waivers from the Washington Redskins Monday, Dec. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bibbs was a receiving back for Washington while Chris Thompson (ribs) was banged up. He could provide the same type of help for the Packers now that they're likely moving on without Aaron Jones (knee sprain) for the rest of the season.

ATL - RB Jeremy Langford to be promoted?

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons RB Jeremy Langford could be signed off the practice squad this week in light of RB Ito Smith (knee) going on the Reserve/Injured list, according to ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Langford was just signed to the Falcons practice squad less than a month ago. A fourth-round pick out of Michigan State in the 2015 NFL draft, Langford has 210 carries for 737 and 10 rushing touchdowns during his career...but the last time he carried the ball was in 2016 for the Bears.

ATL - RB Ito Smith done for the year

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Will McFadden

Atlanta Falcons RB Ito Smith (knee) will undergo surgery this week and is being placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith got some work for the Falcons after Devonta Freeman was lost for the season. He finishes his rookie season with 90 carries for 315 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Smith also chipped in with 27 catches for 152 receiving yards. With Tevin Coleman likely to move on this offseason in free agency, Smith should have the leg up to win the backup job to Freeman in 2019.

GB - WR Randall Cobb in protocol

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (concussion) is in the concussion protocol.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is Cobb's first known concussion of his career. The Packers aren't going to the playoffs, so they may just shut Cobb down for the rest of the season.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon to be limited Monday

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (knee) is expected to get in a limited practice and was close to playing in Week 15 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, according to head coach Anthony Lynn.'If we would have played that game on Sunday, he probably would have played,' Lynn told ESPN's Eric D. Williams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon was close to returning last week and we're expecting him to play in Week 16 against the Ravens. It's a tough matchup but Gordon is a RB1 for Fantasy GMs if he plays. We should have a better feel about his status for Saturday in the near future.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen expected to make full recovery

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) underwent surgery on his foot in the last week and is expected to make a full recovery, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Panthers and the veteran tight end here. Olsen is under contract through the 2020 season and has a cap hit of $7.1 million. So long as he's healthy, Olsen could still be a TE1 for Fantasy GMs in 2019.

MIA - RB Frank Gore unlikely to play again in 2018

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Miami Dolphins RB Frank Gore (foot) is expected to miss the rest of the season with a sprained foot, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy GMs will be looking to see if rookie Kalen Ballage is on the waiver wire for Week 16. Ballage came through with 12 carries for 123 rushing yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the Vikings.

HOU - D'Onta Foreman could be active Week 16

    Source: HoustonTexans.com - Deepi Sidhu

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') 'could' see his first action of the season in Week 16 versus the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foreman is a grinder who can wear down a defense. If active, Foreman would be worked into the mix behind starter Lamar Miller. Reports indicate that Miller's ankle injury is not serious. Foreman might get some short-yardage or goal-line work due to his size and powerful running style.

NYG - QB Eli Manning to make another start

Source: The Athletic - Patricia Traina

New York Giants QB Eli Manning will remain in the starting lineup in Week 16 versus the Indianapolis Colts, according to head coach Pat Shurmur.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shurmur believes that Manning gives them the best chance to win. The Giants had rookie QB Kyle Lauletta as a healthy scratch on Sunday and it doesn't seem like they'll turn to him at any point this season. Shurmur also said that Manning has 'years' left as a starter in the league. That's nice he said that, but we still expect the Giants to upgrade the quarterback position this offseason.

NYG - WR Odell Beckham Jr. could return Week 16

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (quad) is 'doing everything he can to get back,' and the team is hopeful he'll be able to return from a two-game absence in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts, according to head coach Pat Shurmur.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants don't need to rush Beckham back into the lineup since they're out of the playoff race. Check back on Wednesday as we'll get the first clue about Beckham's status then.

PHI - QB Carson Wentz will not go on injured reserve

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com - Dave Spadaro

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (back) is being considered 'week-to-week' and will take back starting quarterback duties when he is healthy, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wentz is not going to be shut down for the year and it might be because of positive information about his injury...and the fact the Eagles are still in the playoff hunt. We will see Nick Foles as the starter in Week 16 and we can only imagine Wentz returns if the Eagles somehow make it to the postseason.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette not benched in Week 15

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette was not injured in Week 15 but ran only one time in the second half - for 25 yards - so the coaching staff could get a closer look at David Williams, according to head coach Doug Marrone. Fournette also served as the kickoff returner in Week 15 after not having played that role since he was a freshman in college.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams was plucked from the Broncos practice squad earlier this year and he's an interesting prospect but there's no way he should be getting carries over Fournette. The Jaguars are a mess right now, and Fournette is no longer a lock for RB1 production when healthy. Consider him more of a RB2 against the Dolphins in Week 16.

LAC - RB Austin Ekeler could be ready for Week 16

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (neck) has a 'legitimate chance' to play in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Ekeler can get onto the practice field at some point this week. Melvin Gordon may be able to return for the Chargers this week, and that would be a boost for the offense as they face a tough matchup against the Ravens in Week 16.

CIN - WR Tyler Boyd has MCL sprain

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd (knee) suffered a low-grade sprain of his medial collateral ligament in Week 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a sprain, and those type of injuries usually take a couple of weeks to heal. Boyd could be done for the season as the Bengals lose yet another starting wide receiver to injury. A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Boyd had a breakout season in 2018 with 76 catches, 1,028 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns so far. The Bengals could move forward with John Ross and Cody Core as their top two wideouts.

LAC - WR Keenan Allen could be ready

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hip) could be ready to play Saturday, Dec. 22, against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a tough matchup for the Chargers as they play the Ravens at home in Week 16. Allen may not be 100 percent healthy, but the team is competing for the no.1 seed in the AFC and they may push him out there at less than full strength. Fantasy GMs should look at Allen at least a WR3 or flex play.

ARI - QB Josh Rosen will start in Week 16

Source: The Athletic - Scott Bordow

Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen will serve as the team's starting quarterback in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams, according to head coach Steve Wilks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals were down 40-7 in the fourth quarter so Rosen was benched or 'rested' or whatever you want to say. Things have been rough for the rookie this year, but it's part of the growing pains when you go with a young quarterback. In 2018, Rosen has 10 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. If the 2019 NFL draft was today, the Cardinals would have the no.1 overall pick.

There is a chance Newton is out for the season, keep an eye on that.

    Wednesday Update

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon practiced fully but not 100% healthy

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (knee) practiced at full speed Tuesday, Dec. 18, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. He did however say he was not 100%.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon was close last week but didn't play. This time around it looks like Gordon is going to be available to play for the Chargers. It is a tough matchup at home against the Ravens, but Gordon is a RB1 for Fantasy GMs when on the field. He's said he's not 100% but at this time of the year, few players are 100%.

PIT - RB James Conner's status still in question

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) continues to rehab his ankle injury and his status for Week 16 is up in the air. 'Hopefully (Conner's rehab work) sets the stage for a productive Wednesday (practice), and we'll go from there,' Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said at his weekly news conference Tuesday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy GMs are just going to have to wait until later in the week to see if Conner can practice. He seems close to returning but nothing is guaranteed. We'd feel better about his status with a full practice on Friday. Stay tuned.

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers suffered a groin injury

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (groin) suffered a groin injury on the final play of the first half in Week 15. Rodgers and interim coach Joe Philbin expect him to play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There are some rumblings that Rodgers will be shut down for the rest of the regular season. Expect the veteran superstar quarterback to be limited at best during the week of practice. We'll know more about his status for the Week 16 game against the Jets in the near future.

CAR - QB Cam Newton battling chronic soreness

Source: Charlotte Observer - Jourdan Rodrigue

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) said he has been battling shoulder soreness that hasn't gone away or gotten worse for several weeks. 'It doesn't matter how much you push,' Newton said. 'Ice, anti-inflammatories you take... I mean, trust me, I did it. Acupuncture. Massages. It's just not been a time that (a) night has gone by without me getting some type of work done on my arm. We just don't have the strength, from the range of motion. Obviously my arm hasn't allowed me to do a lot of practice. I've been on a pitch count. That's not a scapegoat. That's not something I want people to bail me out on. It's just reality.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton just doesn't look like himself and the Panthers head coach Ron Rivera hasn't ruled out shutting down Newton for the season. The team should do what's best for Newton's long-term health and that could be ending his season on Injured Reserve. Stay tuned.

WAS - RB Adrian Peterson limited

Source: The Washington Post - Kareem Copeland

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (shoulder) was limited in practice Tuesday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson's shoulder has kept him limited in practice but it doesn't keep him from playing. Washington travels to play Tennessee in Week 16 on Saturday, and Peterson should project as a RB2 or flex play.

LAC - No practice for WR Keenan Allen

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hip) was not able to practice Tuesday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers are at home to face the Ravens on Saturday in Week 16. There's a good chance Allen is a game-time decision for that contest. Fantasy GMs have to have other options at the ready in case we don't get any clarity on Allen's playing status until right before kickoff.

LAR - RB C.J. Anderson joining Rams

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Free-agent RB C.J. Anderson (Raiders) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday, Dec. 18, according to a source. Anderson will serve as backup to RB Todd Gurley (knee).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson lasted a week with the Raiders but finds a new home quickly. Gurley has been dealing with knee inflammation and the team might decide to give him some rest. The Rams travel to play a hapless Cardinals team in Week 16. Anderson could get some work early with his new team if Gurley sits this week. Rookie John Kelly is there to get some snaps too if Gurley doesn't play.

GB - RB Aaron Jones an IR victim

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones sees his 2018 season cut short once again. He was suspended the first two games of the season and saw action in 12 contests this year. Jones finishes the season with 133 carries for 729 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns, plus he added 26 catches for 206 receiving yards and 1 receiving touchdown. The Packers move forward with Jamaal Williams as their lead back for the rest of the year.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson may play

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (thumb) is hopeful to return this week after missing the last three games with a left thumb injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson will have to show the ability to cleanly catch the ball in practice if he wants to play. The Bucs travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in Week 16 and Jackson would be merely a 'what the heck' flex if he plays.

NE - RB James White in line for more touches?

    Source: NESN.com - Zack Cox

New England RB James White needs to get the ball more often, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Tuesday, Dec. 18.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep this in mind if you're considering White a RB3 or flex play in PPR leagues. In games when White has had at least 13 rushing attempts/targets this season, the Patriots are 9-0 and 0-5 when he's had 12 or fewer.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker awaiting clearance

Source: The Athletic - John Glennon

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) is no longer wearing a walking boot or cast and was cleared to walk on a treadmill 10 days ago he said Tuesday, Dec. 18. He is awaiting clearance to run.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker wants to make it back if the Titans make the postseason again this year. He's done for the regular season and if he's still waiting for clearance to run, then it seems like a longshot for him to return for the postseason.

Cam Newton and Aaron Rodgers both downgraded to Questionable this week, would not be surprised if each of them has played their last game of 2018.

That means the New Orleans Saints are guaranteed home field advantage. They play Carolina in the last game of the season. They do not have to worry about Pitt this weekend. This also helps Pitt a lot.

Confirmed: Newton to be inactive rest of season

As for Rodgers, he insists he is playing while Coach Philbin was non-commital. Game has been taken off the board on a lot of books.

Yes, Gurley expected to start but not fully healthy,

Also, Melvin Gordon and Keenan Allen now both upgraded to Probable for Chargers.

    Thursday Update

LAC - Full practice for RB Melvin Gordon

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon should be back for the Chargers this week and he's got a couple of games to knock off the rust before the playoffs. Against the Ravens we feel Gordon could put up RB1 numbers.

PIT - RB James Conner unable to participate

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Many thought Conner would be back this week but not practicing on Wednesday is not a good sign for his availability. We may see Jaylen Samuels again as the lead back for the Steelers as they travel to New Orleans to play the Saints in Week 16.

CAR - QB Cam Newton being shut down

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) is not practicing Wednesday, Dec. 19, and will not play again this season with the Panthers being out of playoff contention.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A good move for the Panthers here. Newton just wasn't himself and it was painful just watching him try to throw the football with a messed up shoulder. We'll have to wait and see if this latest shoulder injury will require surgery. Taylor Heinicke will start the Panthers' final two games at quarterback with Newton done for the year.

LAR - No practice for RB Todd Gurley Wednesday

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gurley should play this week but the team might choose to limit his reps. We'll know more about his status later in the week.

NYG - No practice for WR Odell Beckham

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (quadriceps) was held out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham hasn't been on the field over the last two games and the Giants have not shut him down for the year. If he plays on the road against the Colts in Week 16, Beckham should be projected as a WR2 due to this injury. We'll know more about his practice status later in the week.

CAR - QB Cam Newton not going on IR

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) will not be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton won't be playing in the final two games of the year and we are waiting to see if he needs another surgery on his injured shoulder. He finishes the 2018 season with 3,395 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions...plus a career high 67.9 completion percentage. Taylor Heinicke will start the Panthers' final two games at quarterback with Newton done for the year.

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers will play

Source: The Athletic - Josh Tolentino

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (groin) will take the field this week despite speculation that he would be shut down while he deals with a groin injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Packers aren't going to the postseason but Rodgers wants to get out there. Fantasy GMs may be hesitant starting him this week due to the groin injury but if he's out there then he's a QB1. Rodgers cited his leadership and competitiveness as the primary reasons he wanted to play.

SEA - RB Chris Carson limited Wednesday

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (non-injury) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carson is just getting a bit of rest here. He's a RB2 with upside against the Chiefs in Week 16.

SEA - WR Doug Baldwin sits out

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin (hip) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Baldwin can practice later in the week. He's got WR2 upside if he plays against the Chiefs in Week 16.

NYJ - RB Elijah McGuire takes part in practice

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire (ankle, quadriceps) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McGuire should once again be the lead back for the Jets in Week 16. That's worth RB2 or flex status for Fantasy GMs as the Jets are at home playing the Packers.

LAC - WR Keenan Allen a limited participant

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen seems like he's on track to play. Don't lock him into your lineup now but wait until later in the week to see if his practice status changes.

LAC - RB Austin Ekeler remains sidelined

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (neck) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Melvin Gordon should return this week for the Chargers....we're not so sure about Ekeler. Make other flex options.

ATL - TE Austin Hooper limited in his work

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle) took part in practice as a limited participant on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hooper is not himself with these various injuries. Fantasy GMs have other options out there even if Hooper plays against the Panthers in Week 16.

SF - RB Matt Breida has limited practice

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Breida has been bothered by this ankle injury and has seen his touches limited. Check back on his practice status later in the week as he's got RB2 potential in PPR leagues when near full strength.

MIA - RB Kenyan Drake able to go full

    Source: MiamiDolphins.com

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake (shoulder) took part in a full practice session Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Drake...but it would be better news if this coaching staff seemed to trust him more. When Frank Gore goes down last week it didn't lead to more touches for Drake, and instead we saw rookie Kalen Ballage get featured. Drake has low-end RB2 or flex value this week in PPR leagues.

MIA - RB Kalen Ballage goes full Wednesday

    Source: MiamiDolphins.com

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (hip) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ballage could be in line for a featured role in the Dolphins backfield...depending on what they want to do with Kenyan Drake. The rookie from Arizona State had a big game last week after Frank Gore went down and he could produce like a RB3 with upside for Fantasy GMs this week.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy has limited practice

    Source: Patriots.com

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like McCoy might be ready to return this week for the Bills. We'll know more about his status on Friday.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette practices in full

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (foot) was able to practice in full on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a great matchup for Fournette this week provided he's not pulled for David Williams again (WTH?). Over the last three weeks, the Dolphins defense ranks 29th in the league by giving up an average of 165.0 rushing yards per game. Fournette is a RB2 for Fantasy GMs in Week 16 with the upside to finish as a RB1.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton unable to practice

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19 as he is nursing an ankle ailment.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton didn't practice at all last week but was able to play. The team might follow suit with the veteran receiver this week as well. Stay tuned to his practice status on Friday.

IND - TE Eric Ebron nursing quadriceps injury

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19 due to a quadriceps injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron is getting some rest but he should be out there on the field for the Colts in Week 16. That means he's a TE1 for Fantasy GMs.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay limited in practice

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (chest) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Not much has gone right for the Lions this year but Golladay is a bright spot. He's got a tough matchup against the Vikings in Week 16 but should post WR2 numbers for Fantasy GMs.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota upgraded

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (foot) put in a full practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Don't get too excited about Mariota's fantasy potential this week at home against Washington on Saturday. The offense is going to feature RB Derrick Henry as much as possible. That doesn't leave a lot for Mariota and the Titans passing game.

WAS - RB Adrian Peterson still limited

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (shoulder) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson is going to be limited by this shoulder injury, especially in the middle of the week. Washington plays on Saturday against the Titans and Peterson should lead the way on the ground. He's an RB3 for Fantasy GMs in Week 16.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon limited by wrist issue

    Source: 1 No Source

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (wrist) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19 due to a wrist ailment.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They're just giving Mixon a bit of rest here. Most likely without WR Tyler Boyd in the latest injury to an offensive starter, the Bengals should lead on Mixon more than ever. We've got him as a volume based RB2 with upside against the Browns in Week 16.

CIN - No practice for WR Tyler Boyd

    Source: Bengals.com

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19 and he is uncertain for Week 16 and beyond due to a sprained medial collateral ligament.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bengals are likely to be without Boyd. That means John Ross and Cody Core would be their top two wide receivers with Alex Erickson mixed in.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson limited

Source: The Athletic - Calvin Watkins

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (thumb) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson might actually return to action this week. He hasn't played since Week 12 against the 49ers due to this thumb injury. If Jackson is out there for the Bucs in Week 16, we've got him as a 'what the heck' flex against the Cowboys.

CLE - TE David Njoku limited in practice

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (knee, thigh) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We should see Njoku limited on Wednesday with a chance to be a full participant on Thursday or Friday. We like him as a low-end TE1 against the Bengals in Week 16.

PHI - TE Zach Ertz limited

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ertz was a disappointment in Week 15 (like multiple fantasy starters) but he should produce like a TE1 in Week 16. Check back on Friday just to make sure this ankle problem is not more severe than most think.

PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery doesn't practice

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (illness) was not able to practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery should be feeling better by the end of the week. Against the Texans in Week 16, Jeffery should produce like a WR3 or flex play for Fantasy GMs.

OAK - QB Nathan Peterman on practice squad

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders QB Nathan Peterman was signed to the practice squad, not the 53-man roster, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

On the practice squad Peterman can develop for Jon Gruden. Dynasty GMs have long ago moved on from any Peterman stock.

GB - No practice for TE Jimmy Graham

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers TE Jimmy Graham (knee, thumb) missed practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's Wednesday, so Graham should just be getting some rest here. Aaron Rodgers is set to play at quarterback against the Jets this week but Graham is just a TE2 for Fantasy GMs if he's out there.

GB - WR Randall Cobb doesn't practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cobb is in the league's concussion protocol. He'll have to clear that protocol in order to play on the road against the Jets in Week 16. Fantasy GMs have other/better options out there.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed still sidelined

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ankle, foot) did not practice for a second consecutive day Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'd be surprised if Reed is out there on Saturday against the Titans. Fantasy GMs have other options.

MIA - RB Frank Gore to IR

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Miami Dolphins RB Frank Gore (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 19.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We hope this isn't the last we see of the veteran running back. He ran hard this year for the Dolphins, finishing the 2018 season with 156 carries for 722 rushing yards and 12 catches for 124 receiving yards. The Dolphins move forward with rookie Kalen Ballage and Kenyan Drake working in some sort of duo at the running back position. Against the Jaguars in Week 16, Ballage is a low-end RB3 or deep flex while Drake is a low-end RB2 in PPR leagues.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman done

Source: 92.9 The Game - John Fricke

Updating previous reports, Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (groin) will not return this season, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Freeman injured his groin back in Week 5 and decided to undergo surgery. He was eligible to return this week but that's not going to be the case. Without Freeman, the Falcons roll forward with Tevin Coleman, Brian Hill, and Jeremy Langford in the backfield.

DET - RB Kerryon Johnson done for season

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 19. He should make a full recovery in the offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson began the year in a rotational role with the Lions. When they eventually figured out he should be a featured back (what a concept!), Johnson came through with a few strong performances (two, 100-yard rushing games). The 2018 second-round pick finishes his rookie season with 118 carries for 641 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He also added 32 catches for 213 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. Johnson will be the lead back for the Lions in 2019. For the rest of this season, the Lions will go with LeGarrette Blount and Zach Zenner in a competition for carries. Theo Riddick continues as their primary receiving threat out of the backfield.

Keenan Allen looks like he’s going to play so I’m plugging him into my flex spot over Peterson. Neither option is great but I trust Peterson less so I’m rolling with Allen if he plays.

Maybe even more, he makes for a nice safety valve when QB is under pressure.

Besides, McCaffery has reached the point where he has become defense-proof in fantasy, i.e., if you have him, use him no matter what. (unless you somehow have 4 legit RB1s LOL)

    Friday Update

NE - WR Josh Gordon officially suspended

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon was indefinitely placed on the Reserve/Commissioner Suspended list for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This might be it for Gordon in the NFL. They've given him multiple chances to clean up and Gordon has yet to beat his demons. Football doesn't even matter at this point as his long-term health and mental health is much more important.

PIT - RB James Conner 'not ready yet'

Source: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) indicated he is 'not ready yet' to return to action during comments made on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Conner noted he is not walking with a limp, but the issues come when he tries cutting on the field.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy GMs can't count on Conner this week. At this moment it seems like Conner is going to miss another game. Check back on Saturday to see if his status changes and have Jaylen Samuels ready to start as a RB2 if Conner can't go in Week 16 against the Saints.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon not on injury report

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fire up Gordon for your Week 16 lineups if you were able to survive not having him thus far in the fantasy playoffs.

LAC - Questionable tag for WR Keenan Allen

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is on track to return this week but he will be at risk of in-game aggravation and missed time. He's still a strong WR2 with WR1 upside.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster listed as limited

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (groin) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith-Schuster suffered the injury in practice and didn't finish. There was some assurance that he would play Sunday, but we might have to wait until game time to be sure and he has a late afternoon start time.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy fully practices

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy should return to the lineup for the Bills this week. We're not going crazy to get him back in our lineups during championship week. Consider the veteran back a RB4 or deep flex option if he plays in Week 16.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota has full practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (foot) was a full practice participant Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Mariota here..and for the Titans. For fantasy GMs? We don't see too many players starting Mariota this week. The Titans are running Derrick Henry early and often, so that doesn't leave a lot of room for Mariota and the passing game.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey not practicing

Source: The Charlotte Observer - Jourdan Rodrigue

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (rest) was held out of practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCaffrey has been carrying a huge workload this year for the Panthers. Any extra rest is a great idea. With Cam Newton done for the year, the Panthers should feature McCaffrey even more if that's even possible. He's his usual RB1 for Fantasy GMs in Week 16.

CIN - WR Tyler Boyd sidelined

Source: The Athletic - Jay Morrison

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd (knee) was absent from practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bengals are likely to be without Boyd in Week 16 against the Bengals. That leaves John Ross, Cody Core and Alex Erickson as their primary WR corps.

LAR - RB Todd Gurley expected to play

    Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) is expected to be available to play in the Week 16 game, according to head coach Sean McVay.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Rams have the Cardinals in Week 16, a game that they could win easily without Gurley. He may be in line to play Sunday but perhaps the Rams choose to limit Gurley's touches with the postseason coming up. At this time, Gurley is going to play and we're going to start him as per usual. That may change if more information about his status or role in Week 16 comes out. Stay tuned.

SEA - RB Rashaad Penny sits again

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny is probably going to miss Sunday night's game against the Chiefs, which makes Chris Carson a must play this week in a good matchup with the Seahawks likely looking to control the clock.

GB - RB Jamaal Williams a limited participant

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (toe) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams should be a solid RB2 option this week as the Packers starter in a winnable matchup against the Jets with Aaron Rodgers likely to start at quarterback.

OAK - WR Jordy Nelson takes part in practice

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Jordy Nelson (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nelson is a solid WR3/Flex PPR option with his recent performances and Derek Carr's track record at home this year.

SF - RB Matt Breida limited again Thursday

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Breida hurt his problem ankle again last week. Between that and the tough matchup against the Bears, he's only a what the heck flex this week.

KC - RB Spencer Ware remains limited

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ware is on track to return this week, but he might not be the primary back after Damien Williams impressed last week. There's also risk of re-injury to his hamstring in-game. If he's a game-time decision, we won't know his status until all but one other game (Denver at Oakland) kicks off this week.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette fully practices Thursday

    Source: NFLCommunications.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (foot) was a full participant in practice for the second day in a row Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette is the starter, but the team showed an inclination to rest him in the second half last week to get rookie David Williams more work. That makes Fournette a risky RB2/Flex this week.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski limited Thursday

    Source: NFLCommunications.com

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (ankle, back) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gronkowski had a glimmer of a return to form in Week 14, but quickly went back to being a fantasy dud in Week 15. He's still a start this week because of brutal tight end has been this year, but one with low expectations.

HOU - Limited practice for RB Lamar Miller

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like Miller is going to return after missing most of Week 15. He's still a very risky start with the possibility of a re-injury and a history of not playing well through injuries.

MIA - Full practice for WR DeVante Parker

    Source: MiamiDolphins.com

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Parker is clearly on the outside looking in for snaps and targets in Miami. Here's hoping he finds a new team this offseason that can attempt to get more out of his considerable talents.

MIA - RB Kalen Ballage a full participant

    Source: MiamiDolphins.com

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (hip) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ballage is a boom/bust RB2/Flex this week in a tough matchup against the Jaguars. The Dolphins appeared to favor him over Kenyan Drake after Frank Gore went out last week.

LAC - RB Austin Ekeler doubtful for Week 16

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (neck) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20, and is listed as doubtful for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like it will be Melvin Gordon starting with Justin Jackson backing him up on Saturday against the Ravens.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay remains limited

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (chest) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay is a boom/bust WR2 this week likely facing Xavier Rhodes, but also coming off of a big game against another tough matchup in Buffalo.

IND - TE Eric Ebron back on the field

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

Good news for Ebron and the Colts here. He's a TE1 for Fantasy GMs in Week 16 against the Giants.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton sits again

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton didn't practice last week but he played and posted five catches for 85 yards. This week Hilton might be a game-time decision again but we're expecting him to play. Hilton is a low-end WR1 against the Giants.

WAS - RB Adrian Peterson fully practices

    Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (shoulder) participated fully in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson has been limited by this shoulder injury for some time. A full practice on Thursday is a great sign for his availability in Week 16. Peterson is a RB3 with upside against the Titans on Saturday.

BUF - RB Chris Ivory takes part in practice

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB Chris Ivory (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ivory should be back this week for the Bills. With LeSean McCoy back in action this week, Ivory is in line to be his primary backup against the Patriots in Week 16.

CLE - Full practice for TE David Njoku

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (knee, thigh) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Njoku is a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs this week against the Bengals. Currently, the Bengals are 29th in the league in terms of pass defense. They allow an average of 270.6 passing yards per game. Expect the Browns to attack them through the air on Sunday.

CIN - WR John Ross listed as limited

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Paul Dehner Jr.

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ross could be the Bengals lead receiver this week. Tyler Boyd is out, so the Bengals are going to roll Ross, Cody Core and Alex Erickson out there at the wide receiver position.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon limited again

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Paul Dehner Jr.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (thigh, wrist) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon is going to get the ball more than ever this week. At least that's the way it's shaping up. The team is down Tyler Boyd at the WR position, and they lost A.J. Green some time ago. Mixon is a low-end RB1 with upside for Fantasy GMs just based off the number of touches he should get against the Browns on Sunday.

PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery still out with illness

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (illness) on Thursday, Dec. 20, missed a second straight day of practice as he deals with an illness.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery should be able to get a practice in later in the week. If he practices on Friday we'll feel better about his status for Sunday against the Texans. Jeffery is a WR3 in Week 16.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson making strides

    Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (thumb) did more in practice Thursday, Dec. 20, after being limited the previous day and looked fine, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like Jackson should be back this week. He doesn't have great chemistry with QB Jameis Winston and in his first week back we like Jackson as merely a 'what the heck' flex.

KC - WR Sammy Watkins a no go

    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (foot) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We may not see Watkins until the playoffs. Fantasy GMs are already making other decisions at the WR position.

    Saturday Update

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster questionable

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (groin) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith-Schuster did not speak to the media in an ominous turn to this situation. James Washington would become a WR3/Flex consideration if Smith-Schuster is out, but Ben Roethlisberger's outlook would take a hit.

PIT - RB James Conner to sit Week 16

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jaylen Samuels is facing a good rushing defense this week, but his receiving prowess keeps him in the strong RB2 tier at New Orleans.

LAR - RB C.J. Anderson next man up for LA Rams?

    Source: TheRams.com - Clarence Dennis

Los Angeles Rams RB C.J. Anderson could play a role as early as this week, according to head coach Sean McVay, and 'all indications' point to Anderson being the first back off the bench if Todd Gurley is unable to play in Week 16 against the Arizona Cardinals.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This has been confirmed by multiple beat writers. Anderson, not John Kelly, is the back to carry and plug in if Gurley is ruled out Sunday.

SEA - RB Chris Carson on track to play

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carson is a strong RB2 play this week with Rashaad Penny not 100% and the Chiefs defense struggling to stop the run at times.

LAC - RB Austin Ekeler a no-go for Week 16

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (neck) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Justin Jackson will back up Melvin Gordon, but he's only a deep desperation play this week.

ATL - WR Julio Jones will be game-time call

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Will McFadden

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip, ribs) will be a game-time decision in Week 16, head coach Dan Quinn said Friday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Jones can't go, Matt Ryan will take a hit, but Calvin Ridley moves into WR2/WR3 range - he scored in the first matchup - and Mohamed Sanu and Austin Hooper also look like better plays.

NYG - WR Odell Beckham Jr. to miss another game

    Source: Giants.com

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (quadriceps) on Friday, Dec. 21, was ruled out for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sterling Shepard could be a decent play at Indianapolis this week with Russell Shepard also out, and Evan Engram is a top tight end play with Beckham on the bench.

SEA - Full practice for WR Doug Baldwin

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Baldwin seemed to have mounting injuries a few weeks ago, but has gotten healthier and comes into a great matchup with Kansas City with his best game of the season last week vs. San Francisco big in the rear view mirror.

GB - QB Aaron Rodgers set for Week 16

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (knee, groin) practiced in full for a third straight day and he is off the injury report.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rodgers still not an obvious QB1 after the recent slump of the Packers offense and Rodgers erratic performances as a passer.

GB - WR Randall Cobb doubtful for Week 16

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (concussion) did not practice Friday, Dec. 21 and he is listed as doubtful for Week 16 against the New York Jets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rookies Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown should get more snaps with Cobb out, but only Davante Adams is startable from this pass offense.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller questionable for Week 16

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) was limited in practice for a third straight day Friday, Dec. 21 and he is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller isn't trustworthy coming off of a game that he left early and getting in no full practices this week. It is still possible that he is inactive and Alfred Blue gets the start, but Blue has a low ceiling as a runner.

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins does limited work

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 21 and he is considered questionable for Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopkins is likely to play and certainly not a player that should ever be on the bench when active. As he said last week, one leg or not, he still has two hands.

OAK - WR Jordy Nelson practices in full

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Jordy Nelson (foot) was able to practice in full Friday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nelson could be a solid WR3/Flex in PPR leagues this week. He and Derek Carr are riffing well and Carr was very accurate against a much better Broncos pass defense in Week 2 on the road.

SF - RB Matt Breida a limited participant

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Breida has a tough matchup against the Bears, but should be worth a flex start with his iron man constitution and fit in the Kyle Shanahan running game.

DET - Limited work for WR Kenny Golladay

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (chest) was able to practice on a limited basis Friday, Dec. 21 and he is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay bounced back in a big way last week, but will have a tough matchup against Xavier Rhodes this week. His demonstrated upside still merits a WR3/Flex start at worst as long as he is active.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette not on injury report

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette is still a risky RB2 this week despite the great matchup. The Jaguars offense has been sputtering and the team showed an inclination to play rookie David Williams in the second half last week.

MIA - RB Kalen Ballage on track to play

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ballage is a boom/bust RB2 this week in a tough matchup against the Jaguars. He showed last week that he's explosive enough to take any touch to the house.

IND - TE Eric Ebron not on injury report

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron was a dud in a low volume and poor execution game last week, but is still a strong TE1 this week in a good matchup against the Giants.

CLE - TE David Njoku on track to play

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (knee, thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Njoku has a good matchup against Cincinnati and deserves low TE1 consideration for the finals.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy ready for Week 16

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is 'ready to go' in Week 16, head coach Sean McDermott said Friday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy was productive as a receiver in the first matchup and he also has been good against the Patriots during his time as a Bill. He'll be worth flex consideration this week.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen not at end of line

Source: The Athletic - Joe Person

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot), currently on the season-ending Reserve/Injured list with a foot injury, spoke with head coach Ron Rivera on Friday, Dec. 21, and gave every indication that he plans to keep playing

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Don't drop him in dynasty leagues and get Olsen if he was dropped after his season ended. Ian Thomas 2019 stock has a shadow over it now.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton back at practice Friday

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (ankle) returned to practice Friday, Dec. 21.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton is questionable, but it would be a surprise if he didn't play. He's a "if he's active you play him" level performer.

CIN - WR Tyler Boyd out for Week 16

    Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd (knee) on Friday, Dec. 21, was declared out for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

CJ Uzomah is a better tight end streamer for the finals, but Jeff Driskel is almost unusable with Boyd out.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson set to return

    Source: PewterReport.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (hand) will be active for Week 16 versus the Dallas Cowboys, according to head coach Dirk Koetter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bucs pass offense is in a slump and now the targets will be further split. Only Mike Evans is startable in this passing game at Dallas.

MIA - RB Frank Gore will avoid surgery

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Miami Dolphins RB Frank Gore (foot) will not need surgery on his injured foot, according to a source, and is expected to be 100 percent in a few weeks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gore's undeniable desire with the ball in his hands is a welcome sight on Sundays. He could still play in 2019 if his tape this year is an accurate indication of his enduring level of play.

WAS - QB Colt McCoy hopes to play in Week 17

Source: The Washington Post - Les Carpenter

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (fibula) has been doing some running and hopes to be ready for the team's Week 17 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Washington can pull off the upset at Tennessee this week and the Cowboys get knocked off by the Bucs, McCoy could be playing with a chance of a playoff berth.

    Sunday Update

LAR - RB Todd Gurley a game-time decision

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) will be a game-time decision for Week 16's game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Sean McVay.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gurley will take part in pregame warmups Sunday, Dec. 23, to determine if he will be able to play. Fantasy GMs had better have other options at the ready. The Rams are one of three afternoon games on Sunday, plus the Sunday and Monday night games. Options could be limited so make sure to stay on top of Gurley's availability on Sunday.

OAK - WR Jordy Nelson off the injury report

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Jordy Nelson (foot) practiced in full Saturday, Dec. 22 and he was lifted from the injury report leading up to the Week 16 game Monday, Dec. 24 against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nelson and the Raiders passing attack will be going up against a banged up Broncos secondary. We're not crazy about Nelson's potential this week but he should produce like a low-end WR3 or flex play in Week 16.

NO - Tre'Quan Smith might see less targets

Source: The New Orleans Advocate - Nick Underhill

New Orleans Saints WR Tre'Quan Smith is likely to be impacted by the return of WR Ted Ginn Jr. (knee) in the Week 16 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith has flashed big time ability during his rookie year at times. Too often though he is inconsistent with his effort and production. We love him in dynasty formats but in redraft leagues Smith is difficult to trust on a weekly basis.

NO - WR Ted Ginn Jr. activated from IR

Source: The New Orleans Advocate - Nick Underhill

New Orleans Saints WR Ted Ginn Jr. (knee) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 22.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for the Saints passing game here. They've been missing a consistent target at the wide receiver position behind Michael Thomas. Ginn is expected to be active in Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, his first game action since Week 4.

DEN - WR Courtland Sutton ready to play

    Source: DenverBroncos.com

Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Saturday, Dec. 22, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sutton has not had a real breakout game for the Broncos since they traded Demaryius Thomas away to the Texans. They are out of the playoff picture but it would be nice for Sutton to show off no.1 wide receiver ability since he's considered the future at the position...and he's the no.1 wideout now with Emmanuel Sanders out for the year.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster expects to play

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (groin) said he expects to play in the team's Week 16 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers are traveling to play the Saints on Sunday and they need Smith-Schuster on the field. He was a late-week downgrade and that's usually not a positive sign. Smith-Schuster is going to play even though he's not 100 percent. Fantasy GMs need to consider him a WR2 with risk if he is out there against the Saints on Sunday.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller to miss Week 16

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) will not travel with the team for their Week 16 game and has been ruled out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans have the goal of a deep postseason run, so giving Miller some rest is a good idea. They'll shut him down this week but he could return in Week 17 just to shake off some rust before the playoffs. While Miller is out, the Texans turn to Alfred Blue as the lead back. We could see D'Onta Foreman get some work too.

PHI - QB Carson Wentz sought second opinion

    Source: NBCPhiladelphia.com - John Clark

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (back) received a second opinion when the team visited Los Angeles last week, in an attempt to receive clearance to play through a stress fracture in his back. However, the doctor agreed with the team's medical staff that rest would be the best course of action right now.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wentz needs to rest and get better so he can return at full strength in 2019. He doesn't need surgery so he should be ready for OTAs in the spring.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey to be busy?

    Source: ESPN.com

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey faces the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16, and he has caught 24 passes in three games against Atlanta, catching 14 passes in the first meeting this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCaffrey is the centerpiece of the Panthers offense. That's going to be even more of the case with QB Cam Newton out. Fantasy GMs know that McCaffrey is a must start every week.

    RUNNING BACK

    TODD GURLEY | KNEE | QUESTIONABLE | GAME-TIME DECISION

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

Gurley is listed questionable and Sean McVay told reporters the team would work Gurley out before the game before making a decision on his availability. However, nothing about Gurley's progress this week suggests he'll play.

Gurley's knee condition doesn't appear to be significant. There are no reports of a single event causing the injury. The Rams cleared him to return after he spent time on the sideline with a wrap on his knee last week. Ian Rapoport reported that Gurley was dealing with "inflammation" in the knee. And nothing the team has described is consistent with a multiple-week concern.

Yet, Gurley was unable to practice this week. The team -- already without back up Malcolm Brown -- added veteran C.J. Anderson to the roster early this week. Most notably, McVay told reporters the Rams were "not going to do anything that isn't smart for Todd." The Rams have clinched their division title but not a bye yet. And it's possible Gurley's injury is so minor that they're resting him in practice with the full knowledge he'll be playing this week. But that's very unlikely.

Expect Gurley to be inactive this week. If he is active, he'll be at risk of leaving the game and missing extended snaps with any game script that allows the Rams to rest him.

Sunday Update: Adam Schefter reports Gurley "wants to play but the Rams want to be smart about it" and the team "would like to get him rest if there are any concerns." That leaves room for Gurley to be active. However, not practicing all week suggests there are "concerns" with Gurley and every update through the week suggests the Rams will choose to be cautious with him today.
Ian Rapoport tweets the same, noting the team "won't do anything to put him at further risk of injury."

Well I'd be sick if I were the guy who lost Gurley in week 16. It wouldn't have mattered for him as he got destroyed and would have anyway with Gurley, but I'm sure it killed many fantasy owners hopes for a championship after they depended on Gurley all year long.

    Monday Update

HOU - WR Demaryius Thomas carted off

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Houston Texans WR Demaryius Thomas (Achilles') was carted off the field after suffering what is believed to be a torn Achilles' tendon during the Week 16 game, according to a source. He is scheduled to undergo tests to determine the severity of the injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is likely going to be a free agent with 14 million dollars due to him in 2019 and no cap hit if he is cut. The Texans need Keke Coutee now more than ever, and UDFA Vyncint Smith will also be called on after scoring a key touchdown today.

NYG - Solid game for TE Evan Engram

    Source: ESPN.com

New York Giants TE Evan Engram caught all six of his targets for 87 yards and rushed twice for 26 yards in a 28-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Engram has been a strong play while Odell Beckham has been out, but it's still difficult to know if he'll be consistent with Beckham on the field. He'll still be among the top 6-8 tight ends drafted next year.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott totals two touchdowns

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott complted 20-of-25 passes for 161 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while posting a rushing touchdown in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Prescott had a solid fantasy outing, but not a week tilter. The Cowboys have nothing to play for next week, so he should sit for most or all of the game.

NYG - QB Eli Manning tops 300 yards

    Source: ESPN.com

New York Giants QB Eli Manning completed 25 of his 33 passes for 309 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 28-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16. He also added a rushing score.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning is doing enough to make the Giants entertain keeping him next year, which might not be seen as a great outcome by some (or all sane) Giants fans.

TB - WR Adam Humphries snags 10 balls

    Source: 1 No Source

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Adam Humphries registered 10 receptions for 79 yards on 12 targets in Week 16 against the Dallas Cowboys.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Humphries will be a free agent this year and could be a high volume receiver in the right offense.

TB - QB Jameis Winston goes over 300 yards

    Source: 1 No Source

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston completed 34-of-48 passes for 336 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Winston had a nice game on volume, but who knows where he will play and if he stays in Tampa, what the offense will look like next year.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay targeted 15 times

    Source: 1 No Source

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay finished with six receptions for 58 yards on 15 targets in Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay's result was acceptable in PPR leagues, but still a letdown considering the number of targets he got. He has a good matchup against the Packers next week, but his quarterback Matthew Stafford is wearing down.

NE - Six receptions for WR Julian Edelman

    Source: NFL.com

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman caught six passes for 70 yards and one touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Edelman had a good day because of a long touchdown that only happened because the Bills thought he was down in the tangle of bodies after the reception. He's the only part of the Patriots passing game worth a start against the Jets next week.

NE - RB James White finds end zone

    Source: NFL.com

New England Patriots RB James White rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown on eight carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16. He also caught two passes for 13 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White isn't playing a big role in the passing game most weeks now, but he did have a long touchdown run to justify any flex starts this week. He'll be a what the heck flex again next week vs. the Jets.

MIN - TE Kyle Rudolph goes off in victory

    Source: 1 No Source

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph registered nine receptions for 122 yards and two touchdowns in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rudolph caught a hail mary and was otherwise featured in a bigger way than he was at any point this year. He could be a streaming consideration against the Bears next week on the heels of this massive game.

NE - RB Sony Michel rushes for 116 yards

    Source: NFL.com

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Michel had big holes to run through all day as the Patriots offensive line gouged the Bills defense. He'll likely be a central part of the game plan again next week against the Jets.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook totals 108 scrimmage yards

    Source: 1 No Source

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook ran 16 times for 73 yards in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions and he added three grabs for 35 yards on three targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook was strong against a good Lions run defense. He has come on late to show why he was so highly drafted in fantasy leagues, but faces a tough Bears defense next week.

NE - QB Tom Brady has disappointing performance

    Source: NFL.com

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady went 13-for-24 for 126 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Buffalo Bills in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady wasn't sharp and his arm wasn't the focal point of the offensive game plan for the second straight week. He's not a QB1 against the Jets next week and he's not going to be drafted as a QB1 next year at this rate.

SF - RB Matt Breida heads to locker room

Source: NFL Network - MJ Acosta

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) left the Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears in the first half due to an ankle injury and he was taken to the locker room. Breida is questionable to return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is seemingly a weekly occurrence with Breida. The 49ers should rest him next week against the Rams for his own sake.

PHI - TE Zach Ertz has giant game in Week 16

    Source: 1 No Source

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz registered 12 receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns on 16 targets in Week 16 against the Houston Texans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ertz seemed to be moving into the second tier of Eagles targets last week with Nick Foles, but ended up squarely at center stage in this one, while breaking the NFL record for catches in a season by a tight end. He'll be vying with Travis Kelce to be the first tight end off of the board next year.

PHI - WR Nelson Agholor posts 116 yards, TD

    Source: 1 No Source

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor registered five grabs for 116 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Houston Texans on seven targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Agholor got free for an 83-yard score to key his day. He is still too inconsistent to carry over much value into Week 17 against Washington, but could be in a solid role next year if Golden Tate isn't signed in free agency.

BUF - QB Josh Allen posts 247 total yards

    Source: NFL.com

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen went 20-for-41 for 217 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the New England Patriots in Week 16. He also rushed for 30 yards on five carries.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen was contained as a runner and didn't do much as a passer until garbage time. After a solid run in fantasy leagues, he was a letdown in Week 16, but will be drafted next year in many leagues because of the weekly upside he showed.

PHI - QB Nick Foles passes for 471 yards in win

Source: NBC Sports Philadelphia - Reuben Frank

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles completed 35-of-49 passes for 471 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in Week 16 against the Houston Texans for his fourth 400-yard game, most in franchise history.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

When Foles is good, he's historically good. He was a fantasy MVP for any team that had to plug him and he is showing a real talent for keeping the Eagles alive. He made himself some offseason money with this performance.

HOU - D'Onta Foreman gets into end zone

    Source: 1 No Source

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman posted seven runs for minus-1 yard in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but he stepped up with two receptions, 28 yards and a touchdown.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foreman should get the most touches of any Texans running back next week if Lamar Miller can't go, but the running game is in a ditch on the side of the road.

HOU - DeAndre Carter steps up to fill void

    Source: 1 No Source

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Carter posted six receptions for 61 yards on seven targets in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carter could be a huge part of the Texans passing game next week if Keke Coutee can't go against the Jaguars. He'll have sleeper appeal for Week 17 Super Bowls.

CLE - RB Nick Chubb surpasses 100-yard mark

    Source: NFL.com

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed for 112 yards on 19 carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chubb could have had a much better fantasy day, but the passing game accounted for all three touchdowns. He'll have a dimmed outlook against the Ravens next week, but still needs to be in lineups.

HOU - RB Alfred Blue does nothing in loss

    Source: 1 No Source

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue ran four times for 14 yards in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles and he added four grabs for 26 yards on five targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans running game has come to a screeching halt in the last two weeks. Blue could get another start against the Jaguars but has little fantasy value in Week 17 Super Bowl.

HOU - DeShaun Watson has huge performance

    Source: 1 No Source

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson completed 29-of-40 passes for 339 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles and he rushed for 49 yards and two scores.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watson was a fantasy MVP today, but the Texans defense kept his efforts from being enough to hold onto the #2 seed in the AFC. He'll have a tougher draw against the Jaguars next week in a game the team must win to secure a division title.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman injured

    Source: NFL.com

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (groin) suffered a groin injury during the Week 16 game and is considered questionable to return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman wasn't the most durable earlier in his career but had done a good job staying on the field this year. His first chance as a true lead back was today and this won't help his free agent market. Brian Hill was impressive in relief of Coleman and could start in Week 17 at Tampa.

IND - TE Eric Ebron out with concussion

    Source: Phillip B. Wilson - Indianapolis Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron (concussion) will miss the second half of the team's Week 16 game Sunday, Dec. 23, after sustaining a concussion in the second quarter.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron is no sure thing for next week in a quasi-playoff game against the Titans. He had a tremendous fantasy season despite some ups and downs and is back on the upswing after a disappointing four-year stint in Detroit.
