NFL Player News - Week 9

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

ARI - RB Chase Edmonds likely out multiple games

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds (hamstring) is expected to miss 'a few weeks' with a hamstring strain, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The hamstring injury is fairly serious, so the team is shutting him down for a bit. That's why they went out and traded for RB Kenyan Drake on Monday. Drake could be the starter for the Cardinals in Week 9 on Thursday night against the 49ers.

ARI - RB Kenyan Drake headed to Cardinals

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake was acquired by the Arizona Cardinals Monday, Oct. 28, in exchange for a conditional 2020 draft pick.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals needed help in the backfield with David Johnson and Chase Edmonds both banged up. It's a short week for the Cardinals as they play on Thursday night in Week 9, so Drake only has a few days to get up to speed. He could be in for a heavy workload in his first game with his new team.

CHI - Chicago sticking with QB Mitchell Trubisky

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky will remain the starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, according to comments made by head coach Matt Nagy on Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Trubisky is their starter but he's not playing well. They'll stick with him because he was such a high draft pick in 2017, but Trubisky has clearly taken a step back in his third year of starting.

DEN - QB Joe Flacco injury update

Source: The Athletic - Nicki Jhabvala

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco (neck) is dealing with a herniated disc in his neck, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flacco is going to miss Week 9 against the Browns. The Broncos have a bye week after that, then we'll see if Flacco can return to the field. The possibility of him ending his season on Injured Reserve is there but we'll have to wait to see if that happens in a couple of weeks.

JAX - QB Nick Foles expected to stay with team

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles is not expected to be moved before the trade deadline even with QB Gardner Minshew's solid play this season, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone has not yet thought about the quarterback situation. He doesn't need to right now with Foles still injured and Minshew playing good football. We'll see if Foles can get back to the field in a couple of weeks and if the Jaguars would put him on the bench.

CAR - Another start for Kyle Allen

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Carolina Panthers QB Kyle Allen will be the starting quarterback against the Tennessee Titans in Week 9, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers made quick work of the Allen-led Panthers. That is not changing the team's mindset about Cam Newton's recovery. Rivera said Newton (foot) is in the middle of his rehab.

ATL - QB Matt Ryan should return after bye

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Kelsey Conway

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (ankle) should be ready to play after the team's Week 9 bye, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Ryan likely would be able to play if the team had a game this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matt Schaub will go back to being the backup to Ryan. We'll know more about his playing status after the team's bye week.

TB - TE O.J. Howard unlikely to be traded

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (hamstring) continues to be a hot topic in trade circles as multiple teams have inquired about him, but ESPN's Jenna Laine has been told it would require 'a substantial offer' in order for him to get dealt before the trade deadline on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard has talent but he's not getting showcased with the Buccaneers. We'll see if some team like New England or Seattle makes a stronger move for the talented young tight end before the trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon.

NE - QB Cody Kessler back with New England

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent QB Cody Kessler (Patriots) signed an undisclosed contract with the New England Patriots on Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kessler has bounced on and off the Patriots roster more than a couple of times this year. He'll work in the quarterback rotation behind Tom Brady.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders expected to be fine

Source: The Athletic - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (shoulder) may be limited in practice somewhat during the week, but he 'won't miss time' after receiving good news after undergoing tests Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders made some big plays for the Eagles on Sunday. We'll be curious to see if the rookie back starts getting more work in the Eagles backfield going forward. Expect him to be limited somewhat in practice this week.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson ready to ramp things up?

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) will reportedly get incorporated into practice 'a little bit' on Wednesday, Oct. 30, according to comments made by head coach Doug Pederson during his press conference Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team has been patiently waiting for Jackson's return. His deep speed and presence as a big-play target has been sorely missed on offense. We'll see what kind of work Jackson can get in during the week.

DEN - RB Royce Freeman has shoulder issue

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos RB Royce Freeman (shoulder) was favoring his shoulder after the game Sunday, Oct. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Freeman is limited during the week of practice. The Broncos are at home to play the Browns in Week 9. Phillip Lindsay is the starting running back, but Freeman gets plenty of work (including goal-line work) in the Denver backfield.

    Wednesday Update

CIN - QB Ryan Finley named the starter

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Cincinnati Bengals QB Ryan Finley was named the starting quarterback Tuesday, Oct. 29.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The move to the rookie has been expected for some time now. Andy Dalton goes to the bench since the team isn't winning, and the Bengals get to take a look at Finley to determine whether or not he could continue to be a starter in the future. They are looking at a premium pick in the 2020 NFL draft and could be in the market for a premium passer. Finley is a big, tall, pocket passer with the arm strength to hit all throws required in the NFL.

ARI - RB David Johnson, RB Chase Edmonds remain sidelined

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RBs David Johnson (ankle) and Chase Edmonds (hamstring) did not practice Tuesday, Oct. 29.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a short week for the Cardinals as they play against the 49ers on Thursday night. We'll see new addition Kenyan Drake get some work with Johnson and Edmonds banged up.

ARI - RB Kenyan Drake to get eased in Week 9

    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake will reportedly be given a 'manageable workload' against San Francisco 49ers in Week 9, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a short week for the Cardinals...and Drake was just traded to the Cardinals on Monday. Both David Johnson and Chase Edmonds are banged up, but with an 'eased in' role Drake might not perform like anything more than a deep 'what the heck' flex in a bad matchup.

DEN - QB Joe Flacco out 5-6 weeks

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco (neck) could be out five or six weeks, and he'll receive a second opinion. Surgery is unlikely, and his career is not in jeopardy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flacco has not been playing well for the Broncos this year. They will go with Brandon Allen as their starter in Week 9 against the Browns and he will be able to run more bootlegs than Flacco did (which was basically none). Allen is a deep add for Fantasy GMs in start-2 QB leagues or deep streaming leagues.

SF - RB Raheem Mostert, RB Matt Breida sit Tuesday

Source: The Athletic - Matt Barrows

San Francisco 49ers RBs Raheem Mostert (quad) and Matt Breida (ankle) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Oct. 29.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a short week as the 49ers play against the Cardinals on Thursday night. We'll see what the practice status is for these two on Wednesday but it's looking like another big week for Tevin Coleman.

ATL - Younghoe Koo signs with Falcons

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent PK Younghoe Koo (Patriots) signed an undisclosed deal with the Atlanta Falcons Tuesday, Oct. 29. PK Matt Bryant has been released.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Koo will get his shot for the Falcons with Bryant out.

PIT - RB James Conner has sprained AC joint

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (shoulder) left the stadium in a sling Monday, Oct. 29, due to a sprained AC joint.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Conner is going to be monitored closely as the week of practice goes on. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that Conner does not need a full week of practice in order to play on Sunday. If Conner can't play in Week 9, the team would turn to Jaylen Samuels as their starter.

    Thursday Update

ARI - Questionable tag for RB David Johnson

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a short week as the Cardinals play against the 49ers on Thursday night. Johnson's status will be finalized before game time. It's a tough matchup so don't expect a lot if Johnson does play.

ARI - RB Chase Edmonds ruled out for TNF

Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano

Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds (hamstring) was ruled out for Thursday, Oct. 31's game against the San Francisco 49ers, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newly acquired Kenyan Drake should get some work on Thursday night. We could also see David Johnson play even though he's a little banged up. It's a bad matchup against a tough 49ers defense no matter who plays at running back for the Cardinals.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey limited

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers are just giving McCaffrey some rest here. This minor knee injury is something to keep tabs on, but McCaffrey should practice fully later in the week.

NYJ - WR Demaryius Thomas limited

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets WR Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This hamstring injury is going to be lingering with Thomas as it has been for some time. The veteran receiver could use a break on Wednesdays so don't get too excited about this report.

NYJ - TE Chris Herndon listed as limited

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets TE Chris Herndon (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're still waiting for Herndon to actually play this year. Suspended for the first six games of the season, Herndon has been cleared to return for a few weeks but this hamstring injury has kept him on the sidelines.

OAK - WR Tyrell Williams a limited participant

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Tyrell Williams (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is likely to be limited for some time ...especially on Wednesdays...with this foot injury. He was back out there for the Raiders last week and he played 50 snaps against the Texans in Week 8. Barring setbacks, Williams should be good to go for Week 9.

LAC - WR Keenan Allen limited

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is a little banged up at this point of the season. Watch to see if he can practice fully later in the week. He was injured last week but still played in Week 8 against the Bears. Allen was targeted 10 times even though he didn't play the usual amount of snaps. He should be fine this week provided there are no setbacks.

KC - Limited practice for QB Patrick Mahomes

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mahomes was working as the No. 2 quarterback in practice. He may not be back this week, but it looks like Mahomes should be the starter in Week 10. We'll see if his status updates during the week.

MIN - WR Adam Thielen listed as limited

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thielen should be good to go this week. The Vikings had a short week last week and that's why Thielen didn't play. Start him as you normally would provided he practices fully on Friday.

SF - Raheemm Mostert listed as questionable

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

San Francisco 49ers RB Raheem Mostert (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a short week for the 49ers as they play on Thursday night against the Cardinals. If Mostert (and Matt Breida) can't play, then Jeff Wilson could get some work behind starter Tevin Coleman.

SF - RB Matt Breida questionable

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Breida and Raheem Mostert are banged up this week. With a Thursday night game, the team might shut both down. We'll see what their status looks like on game day.

HOU - WR Kenny Stills practices in full

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A great sign for Stills here. He should get plenty of work as the No. 2 receiver opposite of DeAndre Hopkins.

WAS - QB Case Keenum limited in practice

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (concussion) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keenum needs to be cleared from the concussion protocol if he wants to play against the Bills on Sunday. We'll see how his body responds to this limited participation on Wednesday.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker misses practice

    Source: TitansOnline.com

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker may be forced to miss more time with this ankle problem. If he doesn't play, then Jonnu Smith would get a larger role again.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson gets in limited practice Wednesday

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson could be back this week for the Eagles. His deep speed and play-making ability has been sorely missed in the Eagles offense.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders misses practice

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (shoulder) didn't practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders might be able to practice later in the week. The team has Jordan Howard as their lead ball-carrier but Sanders can get worked in more as a runner and receiver out of the backfield.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry gets in limited practice

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Landry always has WR2 upside in PPR formats. Against the Broncos on Sunday, Landry could get plenty of targets from QB Baker Mayfield.

CLE - WR Odell Beckham Jr. limited Wednesday

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (groin) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham is going to get a tough draw this week with Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr. tasked with covering him. He's still worth starting for Fantasy GMs but lowering expectations would be wise in Week 9.

PIT - RB Jaylen Samuels takes part in practice

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Samuels (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Samuels could be in line to be the Steelers lead back in Week 9...depending on the health status of James Conner. If Conner has to miss time, then Samuels would get a large workload and have plenty of value for Fantasy GMs.

PIT - No practice for RB James Conner

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on Conner's practice status as the week goes on. If Conner can't play in Week 9, Jaylen Samuels would be the starter and perform around RB2 levels for Fantasy GMs.

MIA - TE Clive Walford signs with Miami

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Free-agent TE Clive Walford (Dolphins) signed with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walford has never played up to his potential no matter where he's played. He was cut in late August after spending the offseason and training camp with the team.

MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick still the starter

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starting quarterback, according to head coach Brian Flores.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins aren't winning but they're looking for their best chance to get in the 'W' side of the column. Fitzpatrick gives the team 'the best chance to win,' Flores said.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard cleared for contact

    Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) practiced without his non-contact jersey for the first time Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants have been wisely cautious with Shepard as he's worked back from his second concussion of the year. Shepard would get a larger role upon his return. That would lessen the snaps/routes/targets for a guy like Darius Slayton.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold to practice

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (thumb) will fully practice with a splint on his left thumb Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Everything is cool here with Darnold...and he does have a good matchup against the Dolphins this week. That makes Darnold an option in start-2 QB leagues or he's a streaming option for Fantasy GMs in Week 9.

    Friday Update

NE - WR Josh Gordon waived from IR

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) was waived from the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Oct. 31, and is now subject to waivers, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon is probably going to be claimed by a team near the bottom of the league, making his speculative fantasy value not too exciting.

LAC - WR Keenan Allen upgraded to full

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) was upgraded to a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen still had seven catches last week and he dropped a touchdown. It sounds like his injury is getting better and he's on track to be the #1 in what should be a high-scoring game against the Packers.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton misses practice

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hilton has played, and played well, with little to no practice, but his status for this week is still up in the air. The Colts already have a tough matchup against the Steelers, losing Hilton would make it an uphill struggle.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (shoulder) was held out of practice for a second straight day on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Conner is shaping up as a game time decision at best this weekend. Jaylen Samuels is the healthy after minor knee surgery and he should be rostered in every fantasy league.

Case Keenum is still in concussion protocol, although he has extra time to get out of protocol compared to a typical week because he played on a Thursday last week. If Haskins starts, the Buffalo D/ST becomes an even better play.

MIN - WR Josh Doctson targets Week 10

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Minnesota Vikings WR Josh Doctson (hamstring) is targeting a Week 10 return against the Dallas Cowboys, which is when he is eligible to come back from the Reserve/Injured list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We can't imagine Doctson having a ton of fantasy value when he returns. He's competing for the No. 3 or No. 4 receiving job with the Vikings behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. The Vikings like to run the ball a lot and that doesn't leave much for wide receivers further down the depth chart.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders practices

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders should be on the field against the Bears. He's a what the heck flex with his big play upside, especially in the passing game.

DEN - RB Phillip Lindsay gets in full practice

    Source: DenverBroncos.com - Aric DiLalla

Denver Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay (wrist) was upgraded to a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lindsay should be a big part of the offense on Sunday with the Broncos rolling out a quarterback who hasn't thrown a pass in an NFL regular season game.

GB - WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling stays limited

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Green Bay Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (ankle/knee) remained limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Valdes-Scantling has blended into a wide receiver committee since he got banged up. He's just a desperation play unless he re-emerges as the clear #2 again.

WAS - RB Chris Thompson sits again

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins RB Chris Thompson (toe) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It doesn't sound like Thompson will return in time to get cheap PPR points against the Bills this week, but he could be back in Week 11 after the bye.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry remains limited

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Landry could be Baker Mayfield's top target if Odell Beckham is shadowed by Chris Harris in Denver.

OAK - WR Tyrell Williams practices in full Thursday

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Tyrell Williams (foot) was upgraded to a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams foot injury didn't hold him back last week. He has a matchup against Detroit secondary that was very weak against the Giants last week.

DET - RB Tra Carson listed as limited

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions RB Tra Carson (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch this as Carson was the starter last week, but if he's not 100%, Ty Johnson could get the start we expected last week, and in an equally good matchup against the Raiders.

PIT - RB Jaylen Samuels fully practices

    Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Samuels (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Samuels is ready to roll and the Steelers would be smart to employ a committee with him and James Conner even if Conner is able to play. Conner has had four different injuries so far this year and we're only halfway through the season.

BAL - WR Marquise Brown remains limited

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown isn't a sure thing to return for Sunday night, but he should be active, even if he is only a decoy that can take Stephon Gilmore away from the active. His schedule gets a lot better next week with Cincinnati up.

IND - TE Eric Ebron not on field

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jack Doyle would elevate to startable if Ebron is out. Mo Alie-Cox would also get more snaps. If TY Hilton is also out, Doyle might be Jacoby Brissett's top target.

CAR - WR Curtis Samuel logs full practice Thursday

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 31, after failing to practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It looks like the missed practice was just to give him some rest. He could come through with a big play against the mediocre Titans corners if Kyle Allen plays well on Sunday.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker sits out again Thursday

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) practiced in pads for the first time Thursday, Oct. 31, since suffering his turf toe injury Sept. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams is possibly on track to return this weekend, but we'll have to check in on Sunday to be sure. He has a late game start time to complicate things and would see a lot of Casey Hayward. Adams should still be lineups as long as he is active.

WAS - RB Adrian Peterson remains sidelined

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 31, for the second straight day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson ran hard last week against his old team on a Thursday, but will have to push to be ready for the game at Buffalo this week. Derrius Guice will likely return in Week 11 after the bye to turn this into a committee.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) missed practice again Thursday, Oct. 31, to rehab his injured foot indoors.

DEN - QB Drew Lock update

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock (thumb) is slated to return to practice in Week 11 in the lead up to the team's Nov. 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to general manager John Elway.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team wants to see if Lock can improve reading the middle of the field. The rookie has raw mechanics but the athleticism and strong arm are there to make him an intriguing prospect. Elway added that the decision whether or not to reinstate Lock from IR would come down to how well he's 'mentally adapting' to the offense. Brandon Allen starts for the Broncos in Week 9 with undrafted rookie Brett Rypien backing him up.

    Saturday Update

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton likely out a month

Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (calf) has been ruled out for Week 9 and is expected to miss three to four weeks with a calf injury, according to head coach Frank Reich.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Zach Pascal, Chester Rogers, Deon Cain, and Parris Campbell will try to pick up the slack, although Eric Ebron is also a candidate to get more targets with Hilton out. Jacoby Brissett's value takes a hit, as does Marlon Mack with the offense less likely to sustain drives without Hilton.

SEA - Seattle lands WR Josh Gordon

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent WR Josh Gordon (Patriots) was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, Nov. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Russell Wilson is the big winner here, and Tyler Lockett might also get more quality looks with another credible outside receiver on the roster. Don't bail on DK Metcalf, as Gordon won't play this weekend and the rookie gets the weak Bucs secondary.

PIT - RB James Conner unlikely to play Week 9

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (shoulder) did not practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jaylen Samuels should get the start and Trey Edmunds will be his backup. Samuels was productive in place of Conner last year and should be considered a strong RB2.

WAS - QB Dwayne Haskins to make first career start

Source: NBC Sports Washington - JP Finlay

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins was named the starting quarterback for Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills on Friday, Nov. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a hit for his collegiate teammate Terry McLaurin and really the whole Washington offense, not that it was that robust to begin with. Haskins has looked overwhelmed in previous stints during the regular season.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) took QB2 reps behind Matt Moore during individual drills in practice Friday, Nov. 1.

It seems like the plan is for Mahomes to rest one more week and return to face Tennessee next week.

NYJ - WR Demaryius Thomas' status in question

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle, hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There are no signs that Thomas will miss the game, but check back Sunday morning to make sure he's active before plugging him in as a WR3/Flex. The Dolphins secondary is very generous to opposing wide receivers and they just put Xavien Howard on injured reserve.

NYJ - TE Chris Herndon listed as questionable

New York Jets TE Chris Herndon (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Herndon is on the doubtful side of questionable. Even if Herndon is active, Ryan Griffin is still a good streamer coming off of a two touchdown performance.

TB - Questionable tag for TE Cameron Brate

    Source: Buccaneers.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (ribs) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 1, but is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brate is a good streamer against Seattle, who gave up two scores to Vance McDonald and Gerald Everett's biggest game of the season.

MIN - WR Adam Thielen listed as questionable

    Source: Chiefs.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Treat Thielen as a game time decision, but expect him to play. We will need to check back Sunday morning, but he should be a strong start for fantasy against the Kansas City secondary.

JAX - Limited practice for WR Dede Westbrook

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook (neck, shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Westbrook isn't trustworthy this week, but he could still go off against the vulnerable Houston secondary this week and help Gardner Minshew's bottom line. If Westbrook is inactive, Chris Conley becomes a stronger play.

NE - RB James White questionable

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB James White (toe) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There are no signs that White is going to miss this one, but we'll monitor the situation to be sure. He has been a steady 10-15 point PPR presence in lineups all season.

NE - Questionable tag for WR Julian Edelman

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (chest, shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This has been the drill with Edelman for weeks now, and he continues to produce and play well with the questionable designation. He'll surely be a frequent target against the Ravens Sunday night.

BAL - WR Marquise Brown listed as questionable

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown (ankle, thigh) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown is expected to play despite missing practice, although he'll be a risky start in fantasy because of the matchup vs. the Patriots historic 2019 defense.

GB - WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling practices Friday

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (ankle, knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Valdes-Scantling is getting healthier, but he is also in a committee that is about to get fewer snaps and targets with the impending return of Davante Adams. He's not an essential hold in short bench leagues.

GB - WR Davante Adams listed as questionable

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (toe) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams has an afternoon start, so we can't be certain, but all signs point to him playing in Week 9. Have an afternoon or night game hedge on your bench just in case, but tentatively expect to have Adams this week.

LAC - WR Keenan Allen on track to play

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen's hamstring injury shouldn't limit him as much this week and it appears that it is not going to cloud his rest of season outlook.

CHI - TE Trey Burton listed as limited

    Source: ChicagoBears.com

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, but is not on the injury report for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burton probably isn't going to be 100% this year no matter how he is listed on the injury report. He's not worth rostering in typical leagues.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders not on injury report

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders shoulder injury ended up being minor as he and the team indicated after his strong Week 8 performance. Consider him a big play what the heck flex this week, or a bye RB2 in PPR leagues.

CAR - Questionable tag for WR Curtis Samuel

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Samuel is on the probable side of questionable according to the team, so he is still likely playing, and in a good matchup against the Titans cornerbacks. Consider him a boom/bust WR3/Flex.

DEN - QB Joe Flacco headed to IR

Source: The Athletic - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco (neck) and LB Corey Nelson (bicep) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Nov. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That probably marks the end of the Flacco era in Denver. Brandon Allen will start this week, but we could or even should see Brett Rypien or Drew Lock before the end of the year.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson plans on playing

    Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) said Friday, Nov. 1, he expects to play Sunday, Nov. 3 against the Chicago Bears. 'That's the plan right now,' Jackson said Friday.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson has more tactical value than fantasy value right now, as he carries a re-injury risk since he didn't have his injury surgically repaired. His presence should still help Carson Wentz and the Eagles tight ends vs. Chicago.

    Sunday Update

KC - QB Patrick Mahomes has chance of playing vs. Vikings

    Source: ESPN - Ed Werder

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) has a chance of playing Sunday, Nov. 3, against the Minnesota Vikings, sources told ESPN's Ed Werder Saturday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They say that, but the reality of the situation is that Mahomes may be better off just missing another game. Matt Moore showed last week the offense wouldn't go under without Mahomes, but it certainly is not the same without the superstar quarterback. We'll see if the team actually gets Mahomes back in the starting lineup in Week 9. Fortunately, it's a 1:00 PM kickoff so we'll have official word early.

MIN - WR Adam Thielen a game-time call

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Ben Goessling

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) will be a game-time decision Sunday, Nov. 3, as the Vikings visit the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thielen was limited in practice this week. He's pushing to get back out there but Thielen is no lock to play. Check his status before the game against the Chiefs and lower expectations if he does play at less than 100 percent. Thielen should be considered a low-end WR2 or flex play if he does play in Week 9.

DAL - WR Michael Gallup set for Week 9

    Source: DallasCowboys.com

Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (knee) remained a full participant in practice Saturday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Against the Giants on Monday night, Gallup can produce like a WR2. Fantasy GMs should consider him a low-end WR2 or nice flex play in Week 9.

DAL - WR Amari Cooper good to go

    Source: DallasCowboys.com

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (ankle) practiced in full Saturday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper could turn in a fantastic performance on Monday night against the Giants. Fantasy GMs should consider him at his normal WR1 levels, and a top-5 finish in Week 9 is possible based on this matchup.

DET - RB Tra Carson lands in IR

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions RB Tra Carson (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions problems at running back continue with Carson now joining Kerryon Johnson on Injured Reserve. Paul Perkins was added to the active roster. Ty Johnson is the lead back for the Lions and has flex appeal in Week 9 against the Raiders.

GB - TE Jace Sternberger activated from IR

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers TE Jace Sternberger (ankle) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 2

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sternberger was a third-round pick out of Texas A&M in the 2019 NFL draft. He shines as a pass-catcher and can be a weapon down the seams. Sternberger will be mixed into action behind Jimmy Graham and one day take over as the starter at the position. We love him in dynasty formats but are just monitoring him in deep re-draft formats.

PIT - WR Donte Moncrief waived

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Donte Moncrief was waived Saturday, Nov. 2. RB Tony Brooks-James was promoted to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moncrief did not do much for the Steelers other than drop passes early in the season. The Steelers move on with Diontae Johnson and James Washington working in the mix behind JuJu Smith-Schuster. We'll see if Moncrief gets some interest now that he's available.

NE - RB James White makes trip

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots RB James White (toe) is listed as questionable for Week 9 but did make the trip Saturday, Nov. 2, to Baltimore.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White always has plenty of flex appeal in PPR leagues. If he plays against the Ravens, White could perform like a low-end RB2 for Fantasy GMs. Make sure to double-check his status if you're considering the Patriots back on Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Chad Henne (ankle) on Saturday, Nov. 2, was activated from the Reserve/Injured list and is listed as questionable for Week 9. In other moves, DT Joey Ivie was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster while OT Greg Senat (unspecified) was placed on the Injured/Reserve list and QB Kyle Shurmur was waived.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Patrick Mahomes likely down again this week, Henne will serve as the backup to Matt Moore.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard has no concerns

    Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) researched concussions and sought out legal supplements during his three-game absence but has few concerns going forward. 'I don't need to play this game if I can't go out and be the player that I am,' Sherpard said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shepard has been concussed twice this season, and that's why he's missed a handful of games. He's back this week for the Giants, but we can only trust him as a WR3 or deep flex play against the Cowboys on Monday night.

NE - N'Keal Harry coming off IR

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

New England Patriots WR N'Keal Harry (ankle) is being activated off the Reserrve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Harry has been back at practice the last two weeks for the Patriots. Their first-round pick out of Arizona State in 2019, Harry is a big receiver who has a game that thrives off of his run-after-the-catch ability. We'll see what kind of a role he can carve out in a WR corps that features Mohamed Sanu and Julian Edelman.

NFL - RB Alex Collins suspended three games

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent RB Alex Collins (Ravens) has received a three-game suspension from the National Football League for violating the league's personal conduct policy after being arrested last spring, according to multiple sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if some team takes a chance on Collins in the near future or on a futures contract for 2020. He eventually received probation in his legal situation. Collins is also recovering from a broken leg sustained in mid-July and is expected to receive medical clearance next week.

    Monday Update

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard to miss Week 9

    Source: Giants.com

New York WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) is back in the concussion protocol and has been ruled out of the team's Week 9 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is a setback for the Giants offense and worrisome for Shepard's 2019 outlook.

JAX - Jacksonville to make QB decision during bye

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) is expected to return for the team's Week 11 game, and head coach Doug Marrone said he will take the bye week to decide whether Foles or QB Gardner Minshew will be the starting quarterback for that game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Minshew had been playing well enough for the Jaguars to string together a few wins going into this week, but Foles experience will probably win out.

IND - Knee injury for QB Jacoby Brissett

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett (knee) suffered a knee injury during the Week 9 game and did not return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brian Hoyer is one of the most experienced backups in the league, so the Colts offense will at least be functional without Brissett.

MIN - WR Adam Thielen leaves game

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) left the Week 9 game early because of a hamstring injury and did not return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thielen might have re-injured the hamstring and he certainly has to be considered very doubtful for next week vs. Dallas and could easily be out through the Week 12 bye. Laquon Treadwell and Olabisi Johnson will get more snaps with Thielen out.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay shreds Oakland

    Source: ESPN.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay caught four of his seven targets for 132 yards and a touchdown in a 31-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay continues to be a big-play threat and clearly has chemistry with Matthew Stafford.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill post 140 yards, score

    Source: ESPN

Kansas City Chiefs QB Tyreek Hill posted six receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 against the Minnesota Vikings and he had a run for five yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill set the tone with a fantastic score early and was a factor for most of the game.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook held mostly in check

    Source: ESPN

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook rushed 21 times for a mediocre 71 yards in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He added four catches for 45 yards on seven targets, too.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook had a floor game and a lot of credit should go to the Chiefs beleaguered defense. He'll face the Cowboys dynamic linebacker duo next week.

MIN - QB Kirk Cousins tosses three touchdowns

    Source: ESPN

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins completed 19-of-38 passes for 220 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cousins failed to lead a comeback win yet again as a Viking. He was still a strong fantasy play and not really the reason the Vikings lost. They'll have another tough road game at Dallas next week.

PHI - TE Zach Ertz goes over the century mark

    Source: ESPN

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz finished with nine receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ertz is back and fantasy teams that doubted him today will regret it. The buy low window is closed heading into the bye. The wide receivers continue to play at an underwhelming level for the Eagles, so Ertz will be key to the second half push.

MIA - TE Mike Gesicki posts 95 yards

    Source: NFL.com

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki caught six passes for 95 yards against the New York Jets in Week 9. He was targeted six times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gesicki showed signs of life earlier in the year, and this week was the first time that the superior athleticism he possesses showed up play after play on an NFL field. The Jets are certainly a matchup to exploit with Evan Engram and the Giants up next, but Gesicki is in streaming consideration against the Colts next week.

MIA - Three touchdowns for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

    Source: NFL.com

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick went 24-for-36 for 288 yards and three touchdowns against the New York Jets in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This team wants to win with Fitzpatrick as their leader despite the odds that have been stacked against them. They'll be a game unit against a Colts team that is unlikely to blow them out of the water next week, so Fitzpatrick is establishing himself as a streaming option.

CHI - RB David Montgomery finds end zone twice

    Source: ESPN

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery posted 14 runs for 40 yards and two touchdowns in Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles while posting three grabs for 36 yards on four targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Montgomery got free for a few nice gains and scored twice from short range, but never really got in a groove despite the good fantasy result. This will give us hope to play him against Detroit next week.

PIT - RB Jaylen Samuels is beast in pass game

    Source: ESPN

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Samuels spun his wheels with eight runs for just 10 yards in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts, but he posted 13 receptions for 73 yards on his 13 targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Samuels had a costly fumble but was helping move the chains all day in a very conservative pass offense. If James Conner is out next week as expected, Samuels will be an excellent PPR RB2 and worthy nonPPR flex.

BUF - RB Devin Singletary plays well in Week 9

    Source: NFL.com

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries against the Washington Redskins in Week 9. He also caught three passes for 45 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary got the ball in space and turned those opportunities into nice games. The team emphasized him in the game plan, a great sign for sustained value heading into a matchup with the Browns.

WAS - RB Adrian Peterson plays well again

    Source: NFL.com

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson rushed for 108 yards on 18 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 9. He also caught one pass for 22 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson is leaving everything on the field even though his team is going nowhere. He'll likely be joined by Derrius Guice after the bye, which deflates what little value he generated in a hopeless situation.

IND - QB Brian Hoyer tosses three TDs in relief

    Source: ESPN

Indianapolis Colts QB Brian Hoyer completed 17-of-26 passes for 168 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in relief of the injured QB Jacoby Brissett (knee).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Colts offense was functional with Hoyer and he should be able to exploit the Dolphins defense if Brissett can't go next week. The Colts lost a heartbreaker in a situation where this outcome could end up being the difference between a playoff spot and staying home, although they should be able to recover in the standings next week.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson leaves game

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) left the Week 9 game because of an abdomen injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson joins Adam Thielen on the injured player who stayed injured list today. He can be dropped after a long fruitless wait for his return.

JAX - Four turnovers for QB Gardner Minshew

    Source: NFL.com

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew went 27-for-47 for 309 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions against the Houston Texans in Week 9. He also lost two fumbles during the game and rushed for 34 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Many feel the team will switch back to Foles once he's healthy. Minshew had time to operate but failed to make plays against a secondary that has been in free fall lately.

HOU - Eight receptions for WR DeAndre Hopkins

    Source: NFL.com

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins caught eight passes for 48 yards and one touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. He was targeted 11 times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans didn't stretch the field, but Hopkins still scored and racked up some PPR points. He'll continue to draw an outsized target load while Will Fuller is out.

HOU - RB Duke Johnson reaches end zone

    Source: NFL.com

Houston Texans RB Duke Johnson rushed for 13 yards and one touchdown on seven carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. He also caught five passes for 68 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson gobbled up yards on a few catches when the Texans had a long ways to go for a first down and won a collision at the goal line to score in his best game of the season. He's an emergency play with upside worth rostering through the bye in PPR leagues.

HOU - RB Carlos Hyde rushes for 160 yards

    Source: NFL.com

Houston Texans RB Carlos Hyde rushed for 160 yards on 19 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. Hyde did lose a fumble during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hyde got free for a couple of long runs against a Jacksonville defense that was worn out from defending Deshaun Watson. He remains a matchup flex heading into the bye.

    Wednesday Update

CAR - QB Cam Newton to IR

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 5, which will end his season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton's Lisfranc injury was not getting better as the season wore on. He met with foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson last week and didn't receive good news on his recovery. Kyle Allen continues as the starter for the team, and we may have seen the last of Newton in Carolina. He's owed a non-guaranteed $19.1 million in 2020.

JAX - QB Nick Foles to start

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) will return as the starter after the Week 10 bye.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foles is healthy and ready to go against a huge divisional game in Week 11 against the Colts. He's got a big contract and it was only a matter of time, regardless of the hype around Gardner Minshew. The Jaguars are in win-now mode as they try to make a playoff push.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson to IR

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) was officially placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson's season is over and it's disappointing as he barely saw the field in 2019. Under contract through the 2020 season, the Eagles could really use his deep speed on offense next year.

MIN - WR Adam Thielen likely out Week 10

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is unlikely to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thielen aggravated his hamstring injury in Week 9 and will already be declared out (according to this report) for Week 10. The team needs to be cautious with their star receiver, especially with a Week 12 bye coming up.

IND - QB Jacoby Brissett optimistic about Week 10

Source: The Herald Bulletin - George Bremer

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett (knee) said his knee is feeling better, and he remains optimistic about his chances to play against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's the Dolphins, so the Colts don't need to rush Brissett out there. They could easily win against Miami if Brian Hoyer was in at quarterback. We'll know more about Brissett's availability later in the week.

PIT - RB James Conner improving

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Gerry Dulac

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner (shoulder) is expected to 'perk up' as the week goes on, according to head coach Mike Tomlin, and Tomlin said he is 'optimistic' that Conner will play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Conner missed Week 9 but he is on the right track. We'll know more about his status on Friday. We might see more from Jaylen Samuels and Trey Edmunds again in Week 10.

JAX - WR Dede Westbrook eyeing Week 11

Source: 1010XL AM - Hays Carlyon

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook (neck, shoulder) is expected to return to practice following the Week 10 bye, according to head coach Doug Marrone.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see what Westbrook can do next week in practice. We will then see what he can do with Nick Foles at quarterback as he is going to be back for the team in Week 11.

MIA - TE Mike Gesicki turning it on

Source: Palm Beach Post - Joe Schad

Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki has impressed the coaching staff with an improved work ethic in practice, and he has been volunteering for reps with the scout team for additional work.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gesicki is there to help Fantasy GMs as his role is growing with the team. He's huge and can outmuscle smaller defenders. Consider him a streaming option or TE2 going forward.

OAK - RB Josh Jacobs a full go

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A good sign for the rookie here. The Raiders are at home to take on the Chargers this Thursday night.

MIA - WR Preston Williams placed on IR

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins WR Preston Williams (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sad to see the undrafted rookie see his season end this way. He should be back in time for the start of the 2020 regular season.

SF - TE George Kittle sits out practice

Source: San Francisco Chronicle - Eric Branch

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (knee, ankle) was not participating in practice Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers play on Monday night in Week 10 against the Seahawks. We've got to see what Kittle should do later in the week, specifically on Saturday.

PHI - WR Jordan Matthews visiting Philly

    Source: PhillyVoice.com - Jimmy Kempski

Free-agent WR Jordan Matthews (49ers) is visiting the Philadelphia Eagles for a physical Tuesday, Nov. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With DeSean Jackson injured, the team needs to find more help at the wide receiver position. Matthews is a seasoned veteran who has plenty of experience with the Eagles in most of his career.

HOU - WR Will Fuller making progress

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (hamstring) is making progress, head coach Bill O'Brien said Tuesday, Nov. 5, but O'Brien said he is still unsure if Fuller return after the Week 10 bye.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fuller might be out there on your waiver wire if somebody was frustrated by his injury and let him go. His return would give another big-play weapon for QB Deshaun Watson.

PIT - RB Benny Snell out for Week 10

    Source: Steelers.com - Missi Matthews

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Benny Snell (knee) won't play against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Snell hasn't played since Week 8 due to this knee injury. Jaylen Samuels and Trey Edmunds got most of the work in Week 9 against the Colts. Mike Tomlin is optimistic that James Conner will be back in Week 10. Watch the practice status for the Steelers backfield during the week.

CLE - TE David Njoku making progress

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Marla Ridenour

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (wrist) had his cast removed from his broken wrist, and he still hopes to return this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Week 12 against the Dolphins is the earliest that Njoku could return for the Browns. He should be one of the 'designated to return' players for the Browns.

NYG - TE Evan Engram has sore foot

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants TE Evan Engram (foot) came out of Week 9 with a sore foot that the team will monitor this week, according to head coach Pat Shurmur.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch Engram's progress as the week of practice goes on. Rhett Ellison would get more playing time if Engram can't play.

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell is OK

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) is not dealing with a serious injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Jets here...and for Fantasy GMs who took a chance on Bell this year. Bell had an MRI on Monday and the results were quite positive. He's getting a sizable workload but Bell has only performed like a low-end RB2 each week. We'll see if more production comes along with further playing time.
