NFL Player News - Week of 7/2/18

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

TEN - WR Dez Bryant unlikely an option for TEN

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) does not appear to be a target for the Tennessee Titans, in the opinion of TitansOnline.com's Jim Wyatt.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans have Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor on the rise, and may not want to slow down their growth on the field to add Bryant's questionable value at this point in his career - especially in new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur's system.

NYJ - RB Thomas Rawls' roster status in question

    Source: NJ.com - Darryl Slater

New York Jets RB Thomas Rawls is not a lock to make the final roster, according to Darryl Slater of NJ.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets have a trio of backs they like in free agent pickup Isaiah Crowell, Bilal Powell, and Elijah McGuire, and they also drafted Trenton Cannon in the sixth round. Cannon can return kicks and that means Rawls will have to show he can recapture his rookie form to win a roster spot. He has no guaranteed money on his one year, 705,000 dollar contract.

KC - Patrick Mahomes gaining support

    Source: NFL.com - Bucky Brooks

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is a 'complete player,' according to free-agent LB Tamba Hali (Chiefs). 'He can throw the ball,' Hali said. 'Athletically, he's gifted. You don't have to coach it. In practice, I'd watch him just look guys off.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs offense lost Alex Smith, but it's possible that Mahomes actually increases the deep ball production despite Smith breaking through as a downfield passer last year. Mahomes has more upside than his current ranking indicates, and he could increase the productivity of the entire Chiefs offense, although he comes with the risk of inexperience.

NYJ - WR Devin Smith, WR Charone Peake on the bubble

    Source: NJ.com - Darryl Slater

New York Jets WRs Devin Smith and Charone Peake appear to be facing long odds to make the final roster, according to Darryl Slater of NJ.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets spent draft picks on both, but Smith suffered multiple serious knee injuries and Peake hasn't distinguished himself. The roster is crowded with receivers and both have an uphill battle to make it.

BAL - Tim White frontrunner for return job

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink

Baltimore Ravens WR Tim White remains the lead candidate to be the starting kick and punt returner in 2018, according to special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White was building buzz last summer before hurting his hand and could force the Ravens to carry seven receivers if he repeats his performance this year. He's one to track in return yardage leagues.

    Tuesday Update

GB - RB Aaron Jones has added weight

    Source: Packers.com - Wes Hodkiewicz

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones said he's bigger all around this offseason after spending more time in the weight room. Bulking up was a priority for Jones in an effort to improve his pass blocking and to sustain the wear and tear of the NFL. Neither Jones nor running backs coach Ben Sirmans believe more pounds have slowed down Jones.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is still going off early draft boards at 39, so in general this news like news we've seen about Jones before, isn't really moving the needle for Fantasy owners. We are still not sure how the backfield shakes out here, so if you're drafting this early you're going to either have to avoid it or roll the dice and hope whichever guy you get - Jamaal Williams or Jones - is the right pick.

ARI - Elijhaa Penny may be FB

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Kyle Odegard

Arizona Cardinals RB Elijhaa Penny is expected to be more of a fullback in the team's new offensive scheme but could receive some work as a running back.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nobody is taking reps away from David Johnson, so Penny is better off playing fullback because it gives him a better chance to stick on the roster. It can't hurt for Johnson to have an extra Blocker on inside runs either. Johnson is going to be a top fantasy back yet again this year.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota holds workouts

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota worked out with some of his pass catchers in Nashville this past weekend.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mariota threw more interceptions than touchdowns and regressed in yardage and yardage per attempt totals but a new coaching staff is installing a quicker offense. We think Mariota has a shot to do some good things, but right now he's no more than a mid-range QB two.

CHI - QB Mitchell Trubisky talks new offense

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky said the team plans to spread the field and use all of their offensive weapons under head coach Matt Nagy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

While we like to hear they are using all their weapons, there's not exactly an overabundance of them. That and his inexperience make Trubisky no more than a QB3 as we head into training camp.

CLE - WR Jeff Janis will need to earn roster spot

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Jeff Janis will need to be one of the standout performers during training camp if he wants a chance to make the 53-man roster.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Josh Gordon, Jarvis Landry and Corey Coleman all assured spots -- and targets -- there's only so much room and so many scraps for the other eight receivers. Janis has had moments, but he's going to have to be consistent to keep his roster spot. From a fantasy standpoint, there won't be much impact from any of the receivers past Coleman on the depth chart, barring injury or another Gordon suspension.

DET - Teo Redding may have edge for No. 5 WR job

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Detroit Lions WR Teo Redding may have an edge over WR Jace Billingsley for the No. 5 receiver job entering training camp because of his size and versatility.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Size and versatility could mean red zone threat but these two are so far down the roster that Redding and Billingsley are kind of irrelevant right now. It's not worth having either in early drafts.

I had high hopes for Mariota last year. Took him late in several leagues. Watched many of his games and he was just plain bad.

Not sure I can do this again.

I'm not sold on Mariota at all, fantasy or otherwise..

I would never draft him as my starting qb.

Not big on Mariota either, but his saving grace is he doesn't turn it over in the red zone.

    Thursday Update

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski rested and ready

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski said he feels 'refreshed' and 'super ready' for the upcoming season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's early July. But we'll take "thumbs up" talk from Gronkowski whenever we can get it. We currently have Gronkowski projected as our top TE .

JAX - More big plays from QB Blake Bortles?

    Source: MMQB - Albert Breer

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles has earned the trust of offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, and Hackett said Bortles' improved decision making will allow him to be 'a lot more aggressive' with his play calling.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A consistent OC is an underrated aspect of QB play and after a rocky start to his career in this area, Bortles seems to be getting comfortable with Hackett. And Hackett seems to feel the same way towards Bortles. Stay tuned.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger feeling his age

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger said he is walking a 'fine line' between resting his body and working out to prepare for the upcoming season. 'My trainer will get me as prepared as I can be,' Roethlisberger said. 'But it is a fine line of what you can do at this age.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At first blush, this isn't exactly encouraging. But the reality is this is just truth with veteran players. Roethlisberger's a savvy vet at this point and knows his body. All players walk this balance between rest and work and this case is no different. At this point, you know what you're getting with Roethlisberger.

NE - WR Cordarrelle Patterson could see more snaps

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots WR Cordarrelle Patterson is a wild card to see more snaps in WR Julian Edelman's four-game absence.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

New England's tough enough to predict pass distribution already. Edelman's absence doesn't help a lot. We'll be doing all we can to peer into the crystal ball this summer to see how this will shake out.

NE - WR Malcolm Mitchell poised for more snaps

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee) is expected to see more snaps in the slot in WR Julian Edelman's absence. Mitchell's knee injury will require maintenance, though.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Same story as with Patterson. We'll be digging into this one for you this summer.

i so no because most of the league goes for his knees when trying to tackle him. it's almost once a game i think he's not going to get up after a shot to the knees. somehow he does though.

when he's healthy, he's an absolute beast.

    Friday Update

CLE - WR impressed with QB Tyrod Taylor

    Source: NFL.com - Herbie Teope

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry said QB Tyrod Taylor was very impressive during offseason workouts and showed good accuracy and leadership during practice. Landry said he believes Taylor will be the starting quarterback this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

So far, Taylor's ADP for the position is a rock-bottom No. 27, and it's likely due to a mixture of doubts about him, doubts about his team and excitement for Baker Mayfield. But Mayfield is reportedly not ready as of early July, and adding Landry to the dynamic Josh Gordon and a hopefully ascendant Corey Coleman could produce some solid results. We still say proceed with caution, and right now that QB3 ADP feels right, but he has upside and might be worth a flier late.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster should be popular target

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster is expected to receive at least 100 targets this season, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith-Schuster is a tough, hard nosed route-runner who can make big plays. Now that the Martavis Bryant Experience has ended, there's very little behind Antonio Brown, and Smith-Schuster has first crack at taking advantage of Brown's double-coverage. His ADP is at 22, which makes him tracking as a high-end WR3 with upside. We think that's value and he could easily end up a very strong WR2 most weeks.

DEN - Royce Freeman signing contract

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos RB Royce Freeman is signing his four-year rookie deal Thursday, July 5, according to a source. The deal includes a $997,020 signing bonus, but other financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's a path for Freeman to win this job with only Devontae Booker ahead of him. Freeman works well in space, but also can fight for the hard yards, and catch the ball. Booker has not shown the consistency to assume he can hold onto the job, or stay healthy. So while Freeman might start as Robin to Booker's Batman, he might find himself driving the Batmobile sooner than later. His ADP is tracking as a solid RB3 right now but we think that needle moves towards "ascending" by year's end.

CAR - Ian Thomas may have role

    Source: Panthers.com - Bill Voth

Carolina Panthers TE Ian Thomas impressed the coaches during offseason workouts, and the team hopes he will be able to contribute as a rookie.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers are still going to roll with Greg Olsen, but the veteran tight end isn't getting any younger. So at some point there will be a new guy to start taking some of the load up. While we wouldn't draft Thomas at this point, it's worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses to get an indication of what the future may look like.

    Saturday Update

TEN - RB Derrick Henry to lead team in carries?

    Source: TitanInsider.com - Terry McCormick

Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry could lead the team in rushing attempts and rushing yards this year, according to Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com, but McCormick said it 'isn't out of the question' that RB Dion Lewis finishes with more total yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lewis has been incredibly productive when healthy, and he appears to be healthy. So McCormick has a good point that while Henry could get more carries, Lewis could have more combined yards given his ability both running and catching the ball. Henry is tracking with an ADP of 17th back off the board while Lewis is going three rounds and ten backs later in drafts. It sounds very much like Lewis could have a lot of value based on position.

CHI - QB Mitchell Trubisky has more command of team

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky has more command of the team going into his second year, according to RB Jordan Howard. 'He asserted himself a lot last year, but I definitely feel like a lot more people are listening to him,' Howard said. 'He has a lot greater command of the locker room and stuff because he's the quarterback for sure now.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If the Bears are going to take a step forward, they'll need Trubisky to take command. That said, the lack of weapons to throw to, the shaky defense and Trubisky's own likely learning curve make him no more than what his ADP is sitting at right now, which is the 25th quarterback off the board in fantasy drafts.

LAC - Busy season for WR Keenan Allen?

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen will be relied on more heavily in the red zone and on third down this season because of the injury to TE Hunter Henry (knee), according to Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Last year we saw what Allen can do when healthy. Now he just has to stay that way, and it's even more critical due to the injury to Hunter Henry. That makes his ADP as No. 7 receiver off the board and 17th player off the board overall. It's possible given the situation that he could be even more productive than his ADP in point per reception leagues where all those extra catches will really add up.

HOU - RB Alfred Blue has good chance to make roster

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue likely will make the 53-man roster because of his special teams play, in the opinion of the Houston Chronicle's John McClain.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Third man on the totem pole behind Lamar Miller and D′Onta Foreman, special teams is definitely the way he's staying on the team. The thing to remember is that Foreman is not healthy, and may not have healed enough from his ACL tear to be ready Week 1. That could also factor in on Blue's ability to stick. That said, we don't expect Blue to have a role in the backfield worth drafting him for, barring massive injuries.

NE - RB Mike Gillislee feels good but fighting for a role

    Source: MassLive.com - Nick O'Malley

New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee reported to spring workouts at 216 pounds after playing the 2017 season at 212 pounds. He reportedly feels better this year than he did in 2017 but he's still fighting for a role.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gillislee was underwhelming last season even before he got hurt. His 3.7 yards per carry wasn't anything to write home about. With a first round pick Sony Michel in the house and a healthy Rex Burkhead, chances are that Gillislee will be buried on the depth chart, assuming he even makes the roster.

NYG - Two WRs may need strong preseasons

Source: The Bergen Record - Art Stapleton

New York Giants WRs Roger Lewis and Travis Rudolph may need strong preseasons to make the 53-man roster because they have not excelled at special teams like they were expected.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shephard, Evan Ingram and Saquon Barkley in front of anyone else fighting for the ball, battles like this are just not compelling. Neither of these guys are too attractive in most leagues.

NYG - NYG expected to use two-TE sets

Source: The Bergen Record - Art Stapleton

New York Giants TEs Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison likely will be on the field at the same time this season because the team is expected to use more two-tight end sets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Engram had a tremendous rookie year and wasn't even fully formed. He should be better this year, but now he has more competition, as Odell Beckham Jr. has returned, and Saquon Barkley was drafted. We'll keep an eye on him and see how he looks in camp, but we feel his ADP of No. 6 tight end off the board is right on.

NYG - RB Wayne Gallman could be returner

Source: The Bergen Record - Art Stapleton

New York Giants RB Wayne Gallman could be used as a kick returner this season so the team can increase his game day value. He also has a chance to have a bigger role on offense.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It may be bigger but unless Saquon Barkley faceplants, Gallman won't be generating much in the way of fantasy points. If you want to handcuff him to Barkley, that's one thing, but wait until late in the draft.

NYJ - WR Andre Roberts has edge for returner job

    Source: NJ.com - Darryl Slater

New York Jets WR Andre Roberts appears to be the leading candidate for the punt returner job entering training camp but will compete with WR Lucky Whitehead and RB Trenton Cannon during camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

None of those three players are likely to factor into the offense much beyond special teams, although it's not like the Jets are top heavy with receiving talent. In general, and especially until we see a quarterback emerge, we are avoiding this offense as expectations are that they will struggle.

HOU - WR Braxton Miller on the bubble

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans WR Braxton Miller will need to stay healthy and produce consistently if he wants to make the 53-man roster, in the opinion of the Houston Chronicle's John McClain.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller has had limited impact since joining the team in 2016, and while he was still transitioning from quarterback to receiver in his rookie season, he should be further along. Injuries have held him back, but if he's healthy, he had better produce as the Texans seem to be short of patience with him.

OAK - WR Ryan Switzer working in the slot

    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Scott Bair

Oakland Raiders WR Ryan Switzer has been a 'force' as a slot receiver in addition to his work as a kick and punt returner, according to head coach Jon Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if he can make any headway in this crowded group, which contains Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant. For now, we expect him to mostly have impact on special teams and wouldn't bother drafting him in early drafts.

    Sunday Update

PIT - Le'Veon Bell probably will skip camp

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell probably will skip training camp if he does not receive a long-term contract before the July 16 deadline.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We aren't terribly worried about that and neither are fantasy owners given the fact that his ADP is as the second pick overall. He can run the ball any way you need him to, he can catch it, he can score from anywhere on the field - the sky is always the limit with Bell. We'll see if the holdout moves Fantasy GMs away from him, but we suspect his ADP will not drop at all.

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott brings consistency

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has rushed for at least 80 yards in 23 of the 25 games he has played.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Grabbing Elliott last season meant you had a beast during a lot of the fantasy season, only to lose that beast as you hit the playoffs. With no suspension looming and the Cowboys adjusting to a world without Dez Bryant and Jason Witten, Elliott is going to be a focus of the offense and a hot commodity - and one of the top running backs again - in the fantasy community.

PIT - QB Landry Jones preferred as short-term option

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Although the Pittsburgh Steelers view QB Mason Rudolph as their quarterback of the future, the team prefers QB Landry Jones as the short-term backup to QB Ben Roethlisberger, according to Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It makes a lot of sense since it's unlikely that Rudolph is anywhere near ready to take over in the event of an emergency. Jones has the experience and even if he's not the future, he's the reliable one right now.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas still confident

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he needs to clean up some drops but still views himself as a No. 1 receiver.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Last season, Thomas had his streak of 1,000-yard seasons snapped because the quarterbacks throwing him the ball were beyond bad. While he's not the receiver he used to be, we think the addition of Case Keenum will be a big help. That won't vault him back to WR1 status, but could put him in a low-end WR2/high end WR3 category.

CIN - WR A.J. Green wants to bounce back

    Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he feels he had a 'crummy' 2017 season but expects more consistency this year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green simply wasn't healthy last season, coming on the heels of an injury-shortened 2016. We feel he should have a bounce-back season, even if Andy Dalton continues to be an up and down signal caller. Consider Green a top-tier receiver for fantasy purposes.

BAL - WR Michael Crabtree brings experience

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR Michael Crabtree's 579 career receptions are more than the rest of Baltimore's receivers combined, and Crabtree's eight touchdown receptions last year were just three fewer than all of Baltimore's receivers combined.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Even though Crabtree had a poor 2017 due to injury, he still has plenty of ability, not the least of which is his route running, a nice addition to the Raven's offense. His ADP of 26th receiver overall sounds about right and we do feel he could end up producing more than that.

BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin expects to be busy

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Dominic LoVallo

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin said he expects to receive 'number one targets' this year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Really, considering the alternatives on the team, who else would they give that role to? Frankly, we're not sure what that role is worth, given the uncertainty of the offense. So while he could get a lot of targets they may not be quality. His ADP is 43 right now, and we think that sounds about right. It could change when the quarterback is named, but probably not much.

CLE - WR Josh Gordon impressing fellow WR

    Source: CBSSports.com - Kevin Skiver

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry called WR Josh Gordon 'unstoppable' after watching him during spring practices. 'The size that he has and his ability to be able to get in and out of cuts, I think that's one of the most impressive things I've recognized and noticed about him,' Landry said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We know how good Gordon is, it's just been a long time since we've seen him on the field. When he returned from suspension last season, he was very effective and with an offseason worth of work, we think he could repeat the numbers he flashed in 2012 and 2013. Tyrod Taylor is an improvement over any quarterback he's worked with in the past, but we still aren't sure how much to trust the offense overall. He's going off early boards as the No. 16 receiver and we think he should be able to produce numbers to back that. Of course, he's also one off-field mistake away from a suspension again, but right now he seems to have turned his life around, so that bodes well for anyone who wants to draft him or the odd Fantasy GM who might still have him on a dynasty roster.

CHI - WR Allen Robinson should be ready for camp

    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

The Chicago Bears expect WR Allen Robinson (knee) to be a full participant once training camp begins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bears needed a big-time receiver for second-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky, and the team hopes Robinson will be that guy. The former Jaguar is coming off knee surgery, and has not been tested in a game since it healed. If back to full health and if he hasn't lost a step, he is a deep ball threat and can out-jump a lot of defenders. We'll see soon enough how he looks in action. This is likely to be an offense with a healthy dose of run, so we'll see what that does for his production. Right now he is the twentieth receiver coming off the board in drafts.

PIT - Jaylen Samuels could have solid role

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Samuels could be featured on third downs and in short-yardage situations this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Samuels is a versatile back who can also double as an H-back or tight end. He excels as a short and intermediate receiver, especially as an H-Back and Ben Roethlisberger has needed an emergency option when the pocket collapses since Heath Miller left. Samuels won't be a big-time starter with Le'Veon Bell in Pittsburgh, but he could have some flex appeal in PPR leagues either off the waiver wire or very late in drafts.

NYJ - Offense needs WR Robby Anderson

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson brings 'a unique dimension to the offense,' according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com, and Cimini believes Anderson could develop into a 'true No. 1 receiver' this year.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As of right now none of the Jets receivers seem like a great option. That may change a little bit once we know who is under center. We agree that Anderson is probably the top option here, which tracks with his ADP in the mid-30s.

Wow, a Tyrod Taylor and Cleveland Brown update all in one. An NFL quarterback accurate in Spring practice is big news.
