NFL Player News - Week of 6/11/18

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott to see more work as receiver?

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott should be in line for even more touches - especially in the passing game - following the departures of Jason Witten and Dez Bryant, according to John Machota of The Dallas Morning News.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The move to get Elliott more involved as a receiver makes a lot of sense. In two seasons as a pro (25 games), Elliott has 58 receptions for the Cowboys. It wouldn't be a shock to see him reach 50 receptions just this year with an extra emphasis on getting him the rock in any way possible. He's a top four pick in fantasy drafts of any format in 2018.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon lacking efficiency

Source: ChargersWire - Will Reave Jr.

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon has never averaged more than 3.9 yards per rush in his first three NFL seasons.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gordon's 2.08 yards-before-first-contact-per-rush average ranked 31st in the NFL last year. The team gave him plenty of carries (284) but they need to create more room for him so he can get to top speed and gash defenses on a larger per-carry basis. He could do a little better after contact to boost that number as his 1.81 yards-after-first-contact average ranked 25th in the league in 2017. Gordon is still the centerpiece of the Chargers offense, and they should work to create more space and more big-play opportunities for him in 2018.

DAL - TE Rico Gathers added weight

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jori Epstein

Dallas Cowboys TE Rico Gathers said he bulked up to 282 pounds in order to be more effective as a blocker. 'Now coming off, I'm delivering the blow,' Gathers said. 'I'm delivering the shot.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gathers is a basketball convert who has never caught a pass in the regular season. He was tearing it up in the preseason last year before a severe concussion ended his 2017 season, and now Gathers is back with a larger opportunity after the retirement of Jason Witten. If you're in a deep enough draft, we'd nab Gathers as an upside play on the chance he hits. But understand there are major questions around him still. We're leaning towards none of the Dallas TEs being significant contributors this year. But again, it's just June.

PIT - RB James Conner shows well in OTAs

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner caught the eye of QB Ben Roethlisberger during the team's recently completed OTAs, telling the Pittsburgh Tribune Live's Joe Rutter that Conner is 'looking really well right now' and that '(Conner) has gotten a lot better (since his rookie season).'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good news for the second-year pro and for fantasy owners who have Conner in dynasty leagues. In deeper leagues where RB handcuffs are the rage, Conner is the one to attach to Le'Veon Bell in later rounds. He's not as versatile as Bell (few are), but Conner could be a thumper for the Steelers with a larger role.

NYG - WR Cody Latimer pushing to start

Source: New York Post - Paul Schwartz

New York Giants WR Cody Latimer could emerge as the No. 3 receiver and the kick returner this year, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Latimer has always been a 'what if' player in the NFL. A second-round pick out of Indiana in 2014, Latimer failed to build strong chemistry with QB Peyton Manning early in his days with the Broncos. Injuries plagued his game along with inconsistency even after Manning retired. With a fresh start in 2018, Latimer is out to prove he can play up to the potential he displayed for the Hoosiers in college. We'll see if he can connect with Eli Manning to win the no.3 job for the Giants behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard.

HOU - QB Deshaun Watson won't be reeled in

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson's (knee) running ability won't be suffocated, according to quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan. 'You never want to take that away, his instincts, his ability to make plays,' Ryan said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watson was setting the league on fire before a knee injury cut his rookie season short. This type of report has been coming out of Houston all offseason long. We get it -- the Texans (and Bill O'Brien) won't hold this potential superstar back in 2018. Fantasy owners certainly feel strongly about Watson as his current ADP of QB2 (4.11 in 12-team PPR leagues) is too rich for some out there.

CLE - Nick Chubb to open year as the backup?

    Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb will likely spell RB Carlos Hyde early in the year, in the opinion of Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This report is likely correct as Hyde is the seasoned veteran and Chubb is the talented rookie. However, Hyde is known to get a bit banged up and that could open the door for Chubb to start. He's got the type of natural running ability that can shine through if he only gets an opportunity. If he gets a shot, Hyde may not get the starting job back. We'll watch this competition unfold in training camp and the preseason.

CLE - RB Carlos Hyde to lead backfield?

    Source: ESPNCleveland.com - Tony Grossi

Cleveland Browns RB Carlos Hyde will likely open the year as the starter, in the opinion of Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hyde is going to be pushed in a big way this year by rookie Nick Chubb. We'll see if Hyde can hold the talented second-round pick off while getting enough work to be a RB3 for fantasy owners. The Browns won't have a lot of positive game scripts in 2018, so Hyde's early down work could be limited. They've got Duke Johnson Jr. to work as the primary receiving back.

Houston could make some serious noise if Watson stays healthy.

Not going out on a limb there, they are 2nd choice to win AFC I think.

    Tuesday Update

NE - QB Tom Brady, TE Rob Gronkowski skipping OTAs

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski do not plan on participating in organized team activities this week after attending the mandatory minicamp last week, according to source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gronkowski has been waiting to get a new contract, and reports indicate that is coming at some point in the future. Brady skipped voluntary work earlier this offseason, then he showed up for mandatory work, and now he's back to missing work when he doesn't have to be there. When things are mandatory (training camp), Brady and Gronkowski should be there.

NYG - Odell Beckham reports for physical

    Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. reported to the team facility Monday, June 11, for his physical, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

His participation level is unknown at this time. Beckham had his 2017 season cut short due to an ankle injury, and there's no reason for him to push it at this point in the offseason. He's showed up at voluntary OTAs as a good faith move since he wants a new deal. Beckham is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2018.

NE - New deal likely for TE Rob Gronkowski

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski likely will receive a new contract at some point but no deal is imminent at this time, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gronkowski was eligible for a new contract in late May, and he's been waiting patiently for that bump in pay. The team should be working on this deal with no hurry as the regular season awaits.

ATL - No minicamp for WR Julio Jones

Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones will not attend mandatory minicamp this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is holding out for more money, as he's currently ranked as the 8th-highest paid WR in the NFL. The Falcons released a statement that said the following. "We have been in contact with Julio and his representation. We will not discuss those conversations publicly except to say we feel they have been productive and constructive. We understand the concerns and thoughts from their perspective. Although not ideal, Julio informed us today he would not be attending mini-camp."

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon may see more targets

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon could receive a bigger role in the passing game this upcoming season, according to offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That makes sense for the Chargers, especially considering they lost TE Hunter Henry (knee) for the season. Gordon had a career high 58 catches in 2017, and he could push that number near 70 in 2018 if the team does make him more of a target in the passing game.

SEA - WR Doug Baldwin, QB Russell Wilson locked in

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin and QB Russell Wilson are the 'tightest they've ever been,' according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's great news for the Seahawks, especially with all the changes on that roster. Those two need to be dialed in with players like TE Jimmy Graham and WR Paul Richardson moving on in free agency. With Seattle's defense in rebuild mode there might be more pressure on Wilson to carry the team. That's a reason why fantasy owners are currently taking Wilson at QB3 (5.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

TEN - WR Dez Bryant welcome in Tennessee

    Source: The Dallas Morning News

Free-agent WR Dez Bryant (Cowboys) is 'most definitely' welcome on the Tennessee Titans roster, according to TE Delanie Walker. 'It's another element if they was to bring him to the team,' Walker said. 'If he can help us out, gladly I would welcome him with open arms.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans may not have room (or not want) a veteran receiver like Bryant. Other than turning down a deal from the Ravens, Bryant hasn't gotten much interest since the Cowboys released him earlier this offseason. We think Tennessee is good with guys like Rishard Matthews, Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor as their top three wide receivers.

GB - RB Ty Montgomery to have big role?

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery seems to be set for a big role in 2018, according to ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky. Head coach Mike McCarthy said the offense is suited for Montgomery's skill set and the Packers need to take advantage of that. Nevertheless, McCarthy admitted that he will continue to take a committee approach with the backfield with RBs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams included.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams could be the lead back for the Packers, mostly because of his size and ability to grind opponents down. Montgomery, a converted wide receiver, could get work as a pass-catching back and could get plenty of work when the Packers use a 'fast break' offense. Both ADPs for Williams and Montgomery are close at this time. Williams is going off the board at RB42 (9.06) and Montgomery at RB45 (10.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.

NE - WR Phillip Dorsett finally comfortable

Source: The Providence Journal - Rich Garven

New England Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett said he has found a 'comfort level' with the offense after having an offseason to run routes and study film.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dorsett has tons of speed but he's never put it all together on the field. The Patriots have a packed WR corps, and even with Julian Edelman's four-game suspension we'll see Dorsett have a hard time finding playing time or getting targets.

ARI - Josh Rosen struggling in red zone

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen needs to 'take what the defense gives us' in the red zone, according to head coach Steve Wilks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rosen is a bright quarterback, and he may just be trying to do too much in offseason work. He is a quick study and should learn not to make the same mistakes twice.

The AFC title could well be decided on 12/16 when the Pats go to Pitt. The winner has a great shot at winning home field advantage. A loss hurts the Pat's chances, but cripples Pitt's chances because they go to New Orleans the following week.

    Wednesday Update

IND - QB Andrew Luck resumes throwing

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) threw a football for the first time since October of 2017 on Tuesday, June 12. Luck reportedly threw about 10 passes at Tuesday's mandatory minicamp, none for more than 10 yards. The Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer reports he'll ramp up his regimen over the next six weeks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Luck is making progress as he was throwing a high school ball in minicamp on Tuesday. After practice, Luck said that he had been throwing an NFL ball "The Duke" but is working back up to that in a formal setting. Colts owner Jim Irsay swears up and down that Luck is going to be a 'full go' for training camp, but we'll take a wait-and-see approach. This is good news, but it's far from over for the Colts franchise quarterback.

HOU - No brace on QB Deshaun Watson

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) practiced without a brace on his injured knee Tuesday, June 12. He did not participate in team drills but did do some individual drills and 7-on-7 drills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

By all accounts, Watson is ahead in his recovery from the knee injury that ended his rookie season. The team is saying they're not going to limit Watson this year and that his rushing ability will be part of what they do on offense. Fantasy owners are over the moon about Watson as he's currently QB2 (4.10) in 12-team PPR leagues behind only Aaron Rodgers.

ARI - RB David Johnson holding out

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson is holding out during the team's mandatory minicamp this week, according to sources. The two sides have been in discussions on a new contract, and they are hopeful it can get done.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A third-round pick in 2015, Johnson is heading into the final year of his rookie contract. He missed most of last year due to a wrist injury, but everyone knows he's going to be the centerpiece of the Cardinals offense in 2018. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the two sides are hopeful a new deal will be reached before the start of the season.

NO - New Orleans to host RB Jamaal Charles

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB Jamaal Charles (Broncos) is scheduled to visit the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, June 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They just want to see what Charles has left in the tank. He seemed to show flashes last year with the Broncos, but Charles never got a chance to really show what he can still do. The Saints may be looking for help in the backfield and a veteran presence to have behind Alvin Kamara...especially since Mark Ingram is suspended the first four games of the regular season.

NO - RB Mark Ingram shows up for minicamp

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram is taking part in mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 12, after skipping the team's voluntary workouts earlier this spring.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Set to be a free agent in 2019, Ingram is reportedly unhappy with his current contract. It doesn't help his case that he's been suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season, and having Alvin Kamara emerge with star production doesn't help either. Ingram, even though suspended to start the regular season, can still practice with the team and even play in the preseason.

BUF - Josh Allen to see first-team reps

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Buffalo Bills first-round pick QB Josh Allen will see some repetitions with the first-team offense this week, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen has been working with the third-team offense and getting reps behind A.J. McCarron and Nathan Peterman up to this point. The Bills franchise quarterback of the future, Allen is going to push for the starting job as soon as possible. While many point to his accuracy issues in college at Wyoming (65.0 percent), we think the biggest thing Allen needs to improve is his ability to handle pressure. Too often when under duress, Allen would have poor mechanics and try to jam passes into windows best left unchallenged. We'll see if he can earn the starting job at some point this season.

    NYG - Odell Beckham update

    Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson

Updating an earlier report, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) preferred to avoid team repetitions, but there was hope he could participate in some during minicamp. There was discussion Monday, June 11, about announcing medical clearance for him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham wants a long-term deal with the Giants, so he's not going to risk things in a June minicamp. He's doing individual work and skipping team drills as a precaution.

OAK - QB Christian Hackenberg waived

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Oakland Raiders QB Christian Hackenberg was waived Tuesday, June 12, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hackenberg was a second-round pick of the Jets in the 2016 NFL draft and now he's been waived by his second team. The Raiders had him for less than a month and decided to move on.

NO - RB Terrance West will visit Saints

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB Terrance West (Ravens) is scheduled to visit the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, June 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West had three visits last month (Colts, Jaguars, Eagles) but is still available to sign. The Saints are just kicking the tires on him, perhaps only updating their emergency list at the position.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas has minor foot issue

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (foot) tweaked his foot at minicamp Tuesday, June 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas has been looking good on the practice field up to this point. Nagging injuries have always been something Thomas has dealt with and played through...mostly at a high level. The team will take it easy on him with the plan to have him ready full speed at the start of training camp.

NO - WR Michael Thomas excused Tuesday

    Source: NFL.com - Herbie Teope

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (undisclosed) was excused from the first day of minicamp Tuesday, June 12, according to head coach Sean Payton.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This doesn't sound like anything major. Thomas should once again be the leading receiver for the Saints, and he's a WR1 for fantasy owners in any format.

NO - NO taking a look at RB Tim Hightower

Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein

Free-agent RB Tim Hightower (49ers) is participating in minicamp with the New Orleans Saints on a tryout basis, according to Josh Katzenstein of The Times-Picayune.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hightower was out of the league in 2017 after the 49ers released him at final cuts. He spent two seasons with the Saints and could give them veteran depth behind Alvin Kamara, especially since Mark Ingram is suspended the first four games of the 2018 regular season.

    Thursday Update

IND - QB Andrew Luck makes some progress

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) threw 15 to 20 passes during practice Wednesday, June 13, including a 20-yard pass to RB Jordan Wilkins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is what the Colts need to see from Luck as he returns from his shoulder injury. He was throwing a high school football earlier in minicamp, but on Wednesday Luck was throwing an official NFL football during practice. He is not scheduled to participate in practice Thursday, June 14.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert could miss cam

    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert's (back) status for training camp is unclear at this point, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lewis was non-committal when asked about Eifert's availability for training camp...and for good reason. If it's not one thing, it's another for Eifert in recent years. He's only played 10 games over the last two seasons and cannot be relied on. Tyler Kroft and C.J. Uzomah will get more work while Eifert is out.

NO - RB Terrance West joining Saints

    Source: NFL.com - Herbie Teope

Free-agent RB Terrance West (Ravens) is signing an undisclosed deal with the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, June 13, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West finally finds a home as he wasn't getting a ton of interest on the open market. A few teams (Eagles, Colts, Jaguars) brought him in to work out, but West gets a chance with the Saints now. The team is looking for veteran depth at the position behind Alvin Kamara...especially with Mark Ingram suspended the first four games of the regular season. West will compete with guys like Jonathan Williams to establish a pecking order at backup running back.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster has knee issue

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) has been limited this offseason by what he referred to as a frustrating injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers are going to be cautious with the talented second-year pro. Smith-Schuster has not participated in team drills during OTAs or minicamp, but he does expect to be ready when training camp begins.

NYJ - Sam Darnold on his way to starting?

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold will be the starting quarterback by Week 1 if he is able to handle everything the Jets are throwing at him, according to offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Darnold is the quarterback of the future for the Jets, and the faster they can get him up to speed the better...for the team and the coaching staff. Jets head coach Todd Bowles has previously praised Darnold for being an outstanding learner. Darnold said he's focused on learning as much as he can in a relatively short amount of time. Teddy Bridgewater and Josh McCown will compete with Darnold for the top spot in training camp.

NO - RB Mark Ingram explains absence

Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram explained Tuesday, June 12, his absence from voluntary minicamp by stating he was in South Florida working with a personal trainer to improve speed and route running. 'I'm not angry with my contract,' he added. 'I wasn't holding out. I'm in the last year of my deal; of course I'd like an extension, but that's not the reason I wasn't here.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was a ton of speculation that Ingram wanted a new deal...which seems ludicrous given the fact that he's suspended for the first four games of 2018 and Alvin Kamara has emerged as a top weapon for the Saints. Ingram will miss the first month of the season, then he should resume work as the team's no.2 RB behind Kamara.

BAL - Coach happy with WR Breshad Perriman

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens wide receivers coach Bobby Engram said he has been happy with how WR Breshad Perriman has caught the ball during offseason workouts but said Perriman needs to continue his development.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick in 2015, Perriman has only played in 27 games over the last three seasons. Reports out of Ravens camp indicate he's dropping passes too often...at least in the media portion of practice. Perriman is owed a $650,000 roster bonus on the third day of training camp and is certainly no lock to make it that far in the revamped Ravens WR corps.

BAL - WR John Brown misses practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR John Brown (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, June 13, because of a knee injury he suffered Tuesday, June 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown is a seasoned veteran, so the team will monitor his progress closely. He's got the speed to be a 'lid lifter' at the WR position and could become a favorite deep target of QB Joe Flacco this year.

NYJ - WR Robby Anderson does not expect suspension

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson said he does not expect to be suspended by the NFL for his off-field issues.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He is still facing a misdemeanor reckless driving charge in one case, but the charges in the other case have been dropped. Fantasy owners are taking Anderson at WR41 (9.01) in current 12-team PPR drafts.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas sidelined by toe

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (toe) has not been allowed to participate in minicamp because of a sore toe. He wanted to practice Wednesday, June 13, but head coach Vance Joseph did not permit him to do so. Thomas will not practice Thursday, June 14, either.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All reports indicate this is not a big issue. The Broncos want to be cautious with Thomas and not rush him out there for a June minicamp. Thomas is a seasoned pro who almost had 1,000 yards receiving last year even though the Broncos had a clown car at quarterback with guys like Trevor Siemian, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch. With Case Keenum entrenched as the starter, we could see Thomas get back to his 1,000-yard ways (with perhaps 90 catches). He's a WR2 for fantasy owners in 2018.

NO - RB DeMarco Murray says no to NO

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB DeMarco Murray (Titans) declined an invitation to work out for the New Orleans Saints, according to a source. Murray preferred not to work out with a large group of running backs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray isn't getting much interest on the open market, and he didn't want to be part of the group of RBs the Saints brought into minicamp including guys like Terrance West and Jamaal Charles. He may have to wait for injuries to hit in training camp before latching on with a new team.

    Friday Update

PIT - No talks between Le'Veon Bell, Steelers

Source: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is not having contract talks with the Steelers at this point.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's hard to know how the Steelers will play this for sure, but a new contract doesn't seem to be in the offing. It's a dangerous bit of chicken, because there are few backs in Bell's league and they can only franchise him so many times. If he has a big season, it will cost the Steelers. Bell should be a clear-cut RB1 in fantasy drafts this season.

CLE - Baker Mayfield not ready for top spot

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield is making good progress but has a long way to go before he is ready to compete with QB Tyrod Taylor for the starting quarterback job, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The winner here could be a sneaky - albeit low-end - QB2. There are plenty of potential weapons and a solid offensive coordinator. We wouldn't go early on either guy, but it's worth keeping an eye on, especially as Taylor in particular is going at an ADP of 27th quarterback off the board. He could be a real value pick.

KC - RB Kareem Hunt to participate at camp

Source: Chiefs Digest - Matt Derrick

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt (hamstring) will be fine for the start of training camp, according to head coach Andy Reid. He has missed a large portion of the offseason program with a hamstring issue.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt will undoubtedly be the starter here, but there are questions. Did he improve in pass protection? How healthy is Spencer Ware, who is good in pass protection? How will Pat Mahomes change the offense? While the answers to those questions are still to be written, we feel Hunt's floor is low-end RB1. That makes him a solid first round choice.

KC - Patrick Mahomes, WR Sammy Watkins connecting

    Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and WR Sammy Watkins already appear to have a good rapport. Their connection has been a 'consistent sight' throughout the offseason program. WR Chris Conley said Watkins has been picking up the offense quickly and CB Steve Nelson added that Watkins has been putting in more time to work out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's hard to believe in Sammy Watkins, but this seems like a promising sign we'd like to see more of. We'd also need to see the Chiefs do what the Rams and Bills couldn't or wouldn't -- use him as a total receiver and more than just a deep threat, without ignoring that part of his game. Right now we are seeing him go as the No. 27 receiver off the board, which isn't bad value.

HOU - QB Deshaun Watson sheds sleeve

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) shed the sleeve on his knee this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watson seems to be right where he should be. If he's healthy, and the Texans don't reinvent the wheel by changing the offense which worked so well last season -- partly because it was close to what he did in college -- then he's a decent QB1 this season.

SEA - RB Chris Carson working with the starters

    Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has been working with the first-team offense and ahead of rookie RB Rashaad Penny during minicamp. Carson earned praise from head coach Pete Carroll during OTAs as well.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The expectation is Penny will turn up and take the starters job in camp, but this is a battle worth watching. Penny's biggest hurdle is pass protection, which Carson can do. There's a good chance the various members of the backfield -- including C.J. Prosise, J.D. McKissic, and Mike Davis -- could eat each other alive and keep everyone's production down.

CLE - WR Corey Coleman entering important year

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman is entering a make-or-break season and has been working hard during offseason workouts, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Coleman has been lined up as an outside receiver when the team is in three-receiver sets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coleman ha missed a bunch of games and now that the team has brought in Jarvis Landry and reinstated Josh Gordon, he's got more competition than ever. He's got a lot of talent but can he stay on the field? We're dubious and while we like the guy, his ADP of 76th receiver off the board seems dead on.

NYJ - Coach high on RB Elijah McGuire

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets running backs coach Stump Mitchell said he has been impressed with RB Elijah McGuire this offseason and believes he has a similar skill set to former NFL RB LaDainian Tomlinson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

High praise, but he's stuck behind Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell. That's a lot of mouths to feed and McGuire is going to have to really stand out to grab a significant share.

NYJ - WR Terrelle Pryor hopes to be ready for camp

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Terrelle Pryor (ankle) said he hopes to be ready for the start of training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's an intriguing option for the Jets, who don't have a lot of intriguing options. That said, we've been waiting for his big moment to come and it's been a while since we've seen him flash that potential he had. Add in the fact that the quarterback situation is unsettled and we'd pass on him in any draft.

TB - Ronald Jones inks contract

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones signed his four-year rookie deal Thursday, June 14. Financial terms were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The second round pick could step right into a significant role, but is that an indicator of production? The Buccaneers offensive line wasn't great last year and everyone struggled. Jones is the more explosive player in the backfield, but does have some issues in pass protection -- which could keep him off the field on some downs. He also has great field vision and speed. And while he didn't catch much at USC, he showed some playmaking ability on occasion when they asked him to. We think the line is his biggest challenge, and that is what keeps him from being higher than an upside RB4 and definitely makes him a guy to watch this summer.

NYJ - QB Josh McCown will start at camp

Source: The Athletic - Connor Hughes

New York Jets QB Josh McCown will begin training camp as the starting quarterback, according to head coach Todd Bowles. The starter for Week 1, however, is up in the air.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've heard a ton of buzz about Teddy Bridgewater and rookie Sam Darnold, but the Jets know that being good in shorts and a t-shirt is different than good against a real pass rush. Both quarterbacks will have to earn a starting spot, and while we don't think McCown will hold both off, the Jets are wisely making no promises save to give the best guy the job. Whether that's McCown, Bridgewater or Darnold, from a fantasy perspective we are avoiding this group, given the uncertainties of each and the limitations of the offensive skill players around them.

DAL - WR Terrance Williams should be ready

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota

Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (foot) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The wide receiver group is a bit disheveled right now, with no real clarity about where Williams fits, save that he is not Dez Bryant's replacement. Allen Hurns and rookie Michael Gallup both look like candidates to be ahead of Williams. We aren't bullish on him and are passing him by in drafts.

BUF - WR Zay Jones ready for camp?

Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Vic Carucci

Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones (shoulder, knee) could be healthy enough for training camp as head coach Sean McDermott said he has 'no reason not to believe' Jones won't be ready.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They need him to be, as there aren't a lot of good options on the roster beyond him and Kelvin Benjamin. Jones is a solid route runner when healthy, but the question mark under center and the ones on the offensive line are bigger concerns. We're staying away.

BAL - WR John Brown returns

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens WR John Brown (knee) returned to practice Thursday, June 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown was exceptional once upon a time, but three injury filled years later, he's nothing to hang your hat on. He could bounce back but we will wait to pick him up off the waiver wire if he suddenly produces.

    Saturday Update

ARI - QB Sam Bradford likely to be Week 1 starter

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals QB Sam Bradford likely will be the starting quarterback for the team's Week 1 game even though QB Josh Rosen performed well during offseason workouts, in the opinion of AZCardinals.com's Darren Urban.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's what most expect, but we haven't even got to training camp. Bradford is the seasoned vet who could begin the year as the starter but we all know Rosen is the quarterback of the future. Rosen is known as a quick study and should be properly challenged by Cardinals OC Mike McCoy.

SEA - RB Chris Carson most impressive RB in Seattle?

    Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has been 'the most impressive of any running back (in the team's offseason practices) this summer', and general manager John Schneider has said that at times Carson looks like the best player on the field, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carson has been getting a lot of hype this offseason. It will be an interesting battle between Carson and 2018 first-round pick RB Rashaad Penny. If Penny struggles with pass protection early (as many rookie RBs do), then perhaps Carson could take on a larger role to begin the season.

DAL - TE Rico Gathers not seeing much work

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Kate Hairopoulos

Dallas Cowboys TE Rico Gathers 'didn't get many chances to catch the ball in practice' during OTAs, according to The Dallas Morning News' Kate Hairopoulos, who added 'it remains to be seen if the coaches believe he's absorbed the all-around duties of the position.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gathers has the most hype around him of the TEs leftover in Dallas with Jason Witten retiring. He's got the hype because of his size (6'8" 275 pounds) and skill set as a former basketball player. Geoff Swaim, Blake Jarwin and rookie Dalton Schultz are competing to replace Witten as the Cowboys top tight end.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster likes playing inside

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster said he likes playing in the slot because it fits his aggressive style of play. 'I like playing inside,' Smith-Schuster said. 'I just love the physicalness of being in the box with the bigger guys.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith-Schuster has been limited to individual drills in OTAs and minicamp due to a lingering knee issue. He's expected to be a full participant once training camp rolls around. Right now, Smith-Schuster is going off the board at WR20 (4.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

ARI - Chase Edmonds saw time with starters

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds received some snaps with the first-team offense when RB David Johnson was not at offseason workouts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch out for the Fordham rookie (fourth-round pick) in deep dynasty formats. Edmonds is compact, measuring in at 5'9" 205 pounds but he's got the willingness to run inside. Even though he's not a pile pusher, Edmonds can break arm tackles and has some burst at the second level.

ARI - Several options for No. 2 WR job

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals WRs Chad Williams, JJ Nelson, Brice Butler, Greg Little and Christian Kirk could all be candidate for the No. 2 wide receiver job during training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals have a talented group of WRs behind Larry Fitzgerald. Nelson can take the top off the defense, but so can Butler with his trademark speed. Williams has the size/speed combination to be a problem in the red zone. Kirk, the team's second-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, is the prototypical slot receiver. We'll watch this battle unfold in training camp with Nelson perhaps having a slight edge as the incumbent.

MIA - Several TEs work with starters

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins TEs Mike Gesicki, A.J. Derby, MarQueis Gray, Durham Smythe and Gavin Escobar all received snaps with the first-team offense during offseason workouts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Dolphins don't have a clear picture at the TE position. Derby is an interesting 'F' tight end who can be used as a receiver only. Gesicki, the rookie second-round pick from Penn State, is also an 'F' tight end and a larger target than Derby...and likely more athletic. He can be groomed as the TE of the future, but Gesicki may take some time to develop in the pros. Gray is a physical player with surprising athleticism (former quarterback), while Smythe (2018 fourth-round pick) is your traditional 'Y' tight end with an all-purpose skill set.

MIA - QB Brock Osweiler has problems with accuracy

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins QB Brock Osweiler struggled with his accuracy during offseason workouts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This headline could be from any year of Osweiler's pro career. He's bounced around the league during his short time in the NFL with two stops with the Broncos where he failed to grasp the long-term starting job. Looking for a second chance with the Dolphins, Osweiler will compete with David Fales for the backup job behind Ryan Tannehill in 2018.

BUF - QB Nathan Peterman making push to start

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills QB Nathan Peterman has looked sharp during offseason practices and 'should be considered a serious contender for the starting job,' according to ESPN's Mike Rodak.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterman had a disastrous rookie season for the Bills in 2017. He replaced Tyrod Taylor as the starter for a brief time, only to lose his opportunity due to multiple interceptions (five INTs in Week 11 vs Chargers). Peterman now is competing with free agent addition A.J. McCarron and 2018 first-round pick Josh Allen to be the team's starter.

MIN - WR Laquon Treadwell turning a corner?

    Source: ESPN.com - Courtney Cronin

Minnesota Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell spent spring workouts running with first-team offense and reportedly feels as if he is working smarter in his third season than he has before, putting him in the conversation to challenge for the No. 3 receiver role, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick in 2016, Treadwell has looked like a bust over the last two seasons. If he's turned the corner and is playing up to his potential, then Treadwell could be a nice third WR for the Vikings behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. He's competing with free agent addition Kendall Wright for that spot.

CHI - WR Kevin White a pleasant surprise during spring

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White is to stay healthy throughout the off-season program and 'looked better than expected,' according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White's game has been set back by injury in the pros. A first-round pick in 2015, White has appeared in only five games with the Bears. If they get anything from him in 2018 that's a bonus. White is competing for a spot on the depth chart behind Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel and rookie Anthony Miller.

IND - Nyheim Hines lining up everywhere

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts RB Nyheim Hines has been lining up in the backfield, in the slot and out wide in practice. Hines was among the most active players on the offense through spring and summer workouts, a clear indication that head coach Frank Reich and offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni have big designs for him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on Hines this year, as he was one of the most explosive players in the 2018 NFL draft. Hines is a compact runner at 5'8" 198 pounds with the quickness and agility to create his own space. He's not proven as a receiver and needs to work on that part of his game. Hines has the makings of a good change-of-pace back, and that could have some flex appeal in deep PPR leagues. Stay tuned and monitor his progress through training camp and the preseason.

NYJ - RB Elijah McGuire pegged for third downs

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Elijah McGuire is expected to be the third-down back, in the opinion of beat writer Manish Mehta.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A sixth-round pick for the Jets in 2017, McGuire can make plays as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. McGuire played a part-time role as a rookie, compiling 315 rushing yards, 177 receiving yards and two touchdowns. With Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell ahead of him on the depth chart, McGuire might not do much more than he did last season.

CAR - D.J. Moore ready to make an impact

    Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson

Carolina Panthers WR D.J. Moore is 'more than ready to contribute' for the offense, according to Max Henson of Panthers.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 24th overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Moore has a bit of Stefon Diggs (Vikings) to his game. Like Diggs, Moore is supremely athletic with great concentration. Moore has incredible foot frequency which he uses to get open on underneath routes. He's a weapon from the slot who should quickly become a favorite of QB Cam Newton.

ATL - Calvin Ridley adjusting well

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley has impressed head coach Dan Quinn with his performance in OTAs, particularly his football IQ.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ridley is an exciting rookie wide receiver who gives the Falcons yet another Alabama weapon at wideout (like Julio Jones). He's known for being a quick study and a fantastic route runner. Ridley may not be Marvin Harrison in terms of getting open with his technique, but the fact that he's sometimes compared to the Hall of Fame WR shows what kind of natural talent could be there.

NE - New England leaning on WR Chris Hogan

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Howe

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan will be asked to shoulder a bigger load in the offense in 2018.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hogan could be a huge play for fantasy owners over the first month of the season while Julian Edelman serves his four-game suspension. After that, Hogan could continue to be a strong play in PPR formats. Hogan has a current ADP of WR27 (6.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

DEN - TE Jake Butt impressing coach

Source: The Denver Post - Kyle Fredrickson

Denver Broncos TE Jake Butt (knee) is 'obviously a playmaker,' according to head coach Vance Joseph, and Joseph said he is 'very excited' with Butt's progress.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Butt is your classic 'Y' tight end with an all-purpose skill set. He missed all of his rookie season in 2017 while recovering from a knee injury suffered in Michigan's bowl game. The former Wolverine has a dash of Kyle Rudolph to his game, which is potentially great news for QB Case Keenum. We'll monitor Butt in dynasty leagues.

PIT - Mason Rudolph pushing for backup gig

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mason Rudolph has lived up to expectations, according to offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner, and could open the year as the No. 2 quarterback.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Landry Jones is not an exciting option, but he's been okay (kind of/sort of) for the Steelers as a reserve. Rudolph could be groomed as the quarterback of the future behind Ben Roethlisberger.

SEA - Rashaad Penny earning trust

    Source: Seahawks.com

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny looks 'comfortable' in pass protection, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny isn't really able to show much in pass protection until we get to training camp and the preseason. The rookie first-round pick could win the starting job for the Seahawks if the team likes the way he protects the quarterback.

CAR - WR Curtis Samuel back at practice

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel (ankle) participated in practice Thursday, June 14. He sat out practice Wednesday, June 13, because he is recovering from an ankle injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This isn't going to help him earn a bigger piece of the pie. We don't expect Samuel to have a big impact this year as it is, but he needs to be on the field to get any targets at all.

    Sunday Update

NYG - Odell Beckham to report on time

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. said he plans to report to training camp on time and will not be holding out because of his contract situation.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham has been showing good faith towards the Giants this entire offseason. He wants a new deal, and he could become the highest paid WR in the league...although reports from Giants beat writers indicate the two sides are not even close in negotiations. Beckham is recovering from the ankle injury that shortened his 2017 season and should be back to his top-5 WR ways for fantasy owners in 2018.

LAC - Dylan Cantrell staying at WR

    Source: Chargers.com - Ricky Henne

Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco said the team is not considering moving WR Dylan Cantrell to tight end.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A sixth-round pick out of Texas Tech in the 2018 NFL draft, Cantrell measures in at 6'3" 226 pounds. He's not overly quick or fast, but Cantrell knows how to use his frame to box out smaller defenders. He also has good concentration when the pass is coming in. Cantrell is an interesting dynasty prospect in deeper leagues, and this year he's competing for a spot on the roster in a jam-packed Chargers WR corps.

JAX - WR Rashad Greene impressing

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Rashad Greene has been the 'most consistent and best receiver' during OTAs and minicamp, according to Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft, Greene missed all of last year with an undisclosed injury and only has 24 catches in the two seasons that he did play. Injuries have held Greene back as a pro, and we'll have to see if he can stay healthy and continue to impress. Right now, Greene is fifth on the Jaguars depth chart at best.

BAL - WR Chris Moore carving out role

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR Chris Moore has carved out a role as a downfield threat and a kickoff returner, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, but Hensley believes Moore is still fourth on the depth chart.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That sounds about right for Moore's skill set. A fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Moore was a deep target in college at Cincinnati. He's not much of a route runner and doesn't have blazing speed, but he does have long arms and quality ball-tracking ability.

BUF - Brandon Reilly running with top unit

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills WR Brandon Reilly has spent time working with the first-team offense during OTAs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Undrafted out of Nebraska in 2017, Reilly (6'2" 200 pounds) spent most of his rookie season on the Bills practice squad or inactive when he was on the 53-man roster. The Bills don't have an overly talented WR corps and there is an opportunity here for Reilly. His best spot might be as a slot receiver.
