NFL Player News - Week 9

SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo acquired by 49ers

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo was acquired by the San Francisco 49ers Monday, Oct. 30, in exchange for a 2018 second-round draft choice, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An upgrade for the 49er receivers and obviously a big uptick for Garoppolo who goes from backup to soon to be starter.

DAL - Judge denies retraining order for RB Ezekiel Elliott

    Source: NFL.com - Austin Knoblauch

A federal judge denied the NFL Players Association's request for a preliminary injunction in the Ezekiel Elliott case on Monday, meaning the Dallas Cowboys running back's six-game suspension will be reinstated.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There will be a 24 hour window for an appeal but if that's not successful, Elliott will begin his suspension immediately. Reports are that Dallas would use a committee approach for RB if Elliott were to miss with McFadden, Morris and Smith seeing work.

CHI - TE Zach Miller has successful surgery

Source: Chicago Tribune - Rich Campbell

Chicago Bears TE Zach Miller (knee) is no longer in danger of losing his leg due to complications from his knee injury, according to head coach John Fox. Fox said doctors feel good about Miller's status.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was serious concern that Miller could lose his leg, but it sounds like his doctors have prevented that from happening. Miller will stay in the New Orleans hospital to undergo further testing.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed unlikely to play

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) is not expected to play in Week 9, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners who drafted Reed are already prepared for him to miss time given his long injury history. We'll see Vernon Davis start for Washington in Week 9, and he's certainly got TE1 upside.

DET - WR Calvin Johnson rumors swirl

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Retired WR Calvin Johnson, whose rights the Detroit Lions own, has been the subject of trade calls from two teams over the past week, according to sources. Figuring they had nothing to lose, the Lions told teams to reach out to Johnson to gauge his interest, but so far it has been noncommittal at best, diminishing any hope for a deal, sources said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It's great to think about Johnson returning to the football field, but the reality of that happening is likely slim. Several teams would love to add Megatron, and reports/rumors seem to indicate the Eagles and the Jaguars could be most interested. We'll see if anything happens before the Tuesday trade deadline at 4pm ET.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen has target date

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) said he is looking at Week 12 against the New York Jets as a possible return date.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That sounds about right given his current timeline as long as there are no setbacks. Olsen said he will slowly return to practice over the next few weeks.

NYJ - RB Matt Forte limited Monday

    Source: NFL

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee) was limited during the team's walkthrough Monday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Forte is likely to be limited with this knee injury all year long. If he plays, then consider him a 'what the heck' flex in Week 9 against the Bills on Thursday night.

OAK - RB Marshawn Lynch activated

Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal - Michael Gehlken

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was activated from the Reserve/Suspended list Monday, Oct. 30. The team also waived RB Elijah Hood.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch is back, and the team is trying to find their way after dropping another game in Week 8. The Raiders are 3-5 and Lynch's role has not been as large as some originally thought. He's averaging about 10 carries per game, and we'll see if the team expands that role now that he's back and they need to get on the winning track with the season slipping away.

DAL - Concussion for WR Cole Beasley

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley (concussion) is in the concussion protocol and is considered day-to-day, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch Beasley's progress as he works through the protocol. This injury might open the door for rookie WR Ryan Switzer to do more.

JAX - WR Dede Westbrook designated to return

    Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook (core) has been designated as one of the players to return from the Reserve/Injured list this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A move that was expected when Westbrook was initially put on the Reserved/Injured list. Westbrook is electric with the ball in his hands and gives the team another playmaker on offense. He'll work his way into the no3 WR position behind Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee. The Jaguars will have three weeks to add Westbrook to the 53-man roster.

BAL - QB Joe Flacco has chance to play

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com
Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (concussion) is not dealing with any concussion symptoms and appears to have a good chance to play in Week 9, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch Flacco's progress as the week of practice goes on. Even if Flacco does play, he's not much of an option for fantasy owners.

NE - RB Dion Lewis won't be traded

Source: NFL Network - Michael Lombardi

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis has received trade interest from several undisclosed teams, but he is not expected to be traded, according to NFL Network's Michael Lombardi.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The trade rumors have been swirling about Lewis, especially with the return of RB Rex Burkhead, but it looks like there will be no such deal. The Patriots have a nice collection of multi-talented backs but it looks like Lewis is staying put.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker sits out

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans had a bye in Week 8, so we'll see if the extra rest helped Walker deal with the bone bruise on his ankle. We'll know more about his status later in the week with Friday being the day to determine whether or not he can play in Week 9.

TEN - WR Corey Davis practices

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (hamstring) participated in practice Monday, Oct. 30.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis hasn't played since Week 2, but he had seven catches for 73 yards in those first two games. When fully healthy, the talented rookie WR should be a big part of what the Titans do on offense. Check the waiver wire to see if he's been dropped and stash him if you can.

BUF - TE Charles Clay sitting out Monday

    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) is making progress but will not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 30, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills have a short week as they play against the Jets on Thursday night. Clay is unlikely to play in Week 9, so the Bills continue to go with Nick O'Leary and Logan Thomas at the TE position.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman nursing shoulder injury

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Kelsey Conway

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (shoulder) will be limited in practice this week as he deals with a shoulder injury, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The team will monitor Freeman as the week of practice goes on. It's early, but Freeman should be available to play in Week 9 against the Panthers. Hopefully the team starts using him more going forward.

I'm sure Calvin Johnson wouldn't come out of retirement to play with Blake Bortles. Carson Wentz may persuade him on the other hand.

    Wednesday Update

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott's request denied
Source: USA TODAY Sports - A.J. Perez
Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott was denied a request for an emergency stay filed by the NFL Players Association.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
He's not yet suspended. Elliott now awaits a decision on an appeal by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

CAR - WR Kelvin Benjamin traded to Bills
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin was traded to the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, Oct. 31, according to a source.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Panthers didn't think Benjamin was worth keeping around, especially with his contract coming up. Benjamin is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in 2019 as his $8.4 million fifth-year option was picked up for 2018. Without Benjamin, we'll see more targets for Devin Funchess.

ARI - RB David Johnson unlikely to return
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson (wrist) is not expected to return this season, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is the way things have been trending for Johnson. The Cardinals offense is a hot mess right now with QB Drew Stanton under center. It looks like they'll continue with Adrian Peterson as their lead back for the rest of the season.

BAL - RB Danny Woodhead back at practice
    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com
Baltimore Ravens RB Danny Woodhead (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday, Oct. 31, for the first time since suffering a serious hamstring injury in Week 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Ravens seemed intent on making Woodhead a big part of their offense before his injury. Now that he's close to returning it's time to pick him up. He is eligible to return in Week 11 and has RB2 or flex value in PPR leagues.

MIA - Miami trades away RB Jay Ajayi
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
The Miami Dolphins traded RB Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2018 fourth-round pick, according to a source.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Dolphins move forward with Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake in the backfield. Williams has over 20 receptions each of the last three years and has some PPR value. Drake has straight-line speed and can be dangerous in space, plus Dolphins head coach Adam Gase called him the no2 back earlier this month. It's a RBBC either way, but it looks like Drake may be the lead back in this situation.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch not in running to start
    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis
Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (shoulder) will not be a candidate to start in Week 9 because he has not practice enough due to his shoulder injury, according to head coach Vance Joseph.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Lynch has only a small handful of practices since returning from his injury. It looks like we could see Brock Osweiler named the starter some time this week. Joseph said it would be unfair to throw Lynch out there with such little time to prepare.

OAK - RB Marshawn Lynch not at practice
    Source: ESPN.com - Paul Gutierrez
Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch was not present for the Raiders' walkthrough practice Tuesday, Oct. 31.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Raiders coach Jack Del Rio admitted he expected Lynch to be there following the running back's one-game suspension. Check back to see if Lynch is out at practice on Wednesday. He'll be a low-end RB2 or flex play in Week 9.

SEA - QB Russell Wilson restructures deal
    Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson's contract was recently reworked in order to create more salary cap space for the recent signing of OT Duane Brown, according to a source.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Wilson and the Seahawks converted $6.26 million of his 2017 base salary into a signing bonus. That money is now prorated over the remaining three seasons of his contract. The restructured deal freed up $4.17 million against Seattle's 2017 salary cap.

PHI - RB LeGarrette Blount to remain the starter?
    Source: NJ.com - Eliot Shorr-Parks
Philadelphia Eagles RB LeGarrette Blount will remain the starting running back despite the addition of Jay Ajayi, according to vice president of football operations Howie Roseman.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We'll see if that's the case, although it's difficult to believe that Blount would remain at the top of the depth chart. In Week 9 against the Broncos, we're not encouraged about any Eagles running back. Ajayi will take some time to get up to speed, and we expect him to be the starter.

PIT - WR Martavis Bryant to be involved in Week 10?
    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant will be part of the team's Week 10 game plan, according to multiple sources.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bryant was a healthy scratch for Week 8 against the Lions. We saw rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster go off with seven catches for 193 yards and one touchdown. With Bryant more involved that will take some targets away from Smith-Schuster, but we still like him as a flex option. Bryant is more of a 'what the heck' flex in deep leagues until we see that he's focused and actually used in the offense. He's only been targeted 36 times so far in 2017.

IND - Indy works out four quarterbacks
Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson
Free-agent QBs Matt Barkley, Matt McGloin, Josh Johnson and Connor Shaw worked out for the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It's not a good sign for Andrew Luck's recovery if the team is looking at free agent QBs. Luck has already been declared out for Week 9 and there continues to be a growing possibility that we don't see him at all in 2017.

NE - WR Chris Hogan avoids surgery
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Updating previous reports, New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) will avoid surgery, according to a source.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
New England will reevaluate Hogan after the Week 9 bye. We'll know more about his status when the Patriots get back on the practice field next week.

SEA - Hope that RB C.J. Prosise practices this week
Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is hopeful that RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) will return to practice this week ahead of their Week 9 game Sunday, Nov. 5.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
There's no need to rush out there on the waiver wire for any Seattle running back. If healthy, Prosise would be the change-of-pace back and have a tiny bit of value in PPR leagues.

SF - QB Brian Hoyer cut
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
San Francisco 49ers QB Brian Hoyer was released Monday, Oct. 30, according to a source.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The 49ers move on from Hoyer after trading the Patriots for QB Jimmy Garoppolo. Now without a backup quarterback, the Patriots might consider Hoyer as he began his career in New England and knows the system.

Broncos have big problems if they're starting Osweiler. New England always ends up getting the better end of the deal in their backup Qb trades, this may be no different.

    Thursday Update

CLE - WR Josh Gordon reinstated on conditional basis
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot
Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has been reinstated by the NFL on a conditional basis and will begin practicing with the Browns starting Monday, Nov. 20.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
He can immediately take part in meetings and individual workouts and can be added to the active roster Monday, Nov. 27. That makes him eligible for a return to the field in Week 13 of the regular season. Gordon led the league in receiving in 2013 (1,646 yards), but that was years ago and he hasn't played in an NFL game since 2014. All that being said, fantasy owners should add him in all formats due to his tremendous upside and the Browns need at the position.

SEA - Big role for RB Eddie Lacy?
    Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson
Seattle Seahawks RB Eddie Lacy will play a big part in Seattle's Week 9 game plan, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
He's big and he'll have a role, but does that mean Lacy will have a big role? Against Washington in Week 9, Lacy is a RB4 or deep flex for fantasy owners. The Seattle backfield is not exciting at all, and it would be nice to see someone emerge as fantasy worthy.

DEN - QB Trevor Siemian benched
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian was benched for Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Siemian needed to be benched after his recent play during the Broncos 3-game losing streak. He's shown the skill set of a decent backup quarterback, but that's about it. The Broncos still feel like they're in the playoff hunt and are turning to veteran Brock Osweiler as the starter.

BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin passes physical
Source: The Buffalo News - Vic Carucci
Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin passed his physical Wednesday, Nov. 1, and his trade to the Bills is official.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Benjamin had some weight problems (in addition to some nagging injuries) during his time with the Panthers. The Bills have a short week as they play against the Jets on Thursday night, so Benjamin won't be up to speed with the full offense in Week 9. That being said, we still like him as a WR3/WR4 or flex play for fantasy owners against the Jets.

IND - QB Andrew Luck seeking additional opinions
    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen
Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is seeking more opinions to determine why his surgically repaired right shoulder hasn't healed as expected, according to a team source.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Luck was supposed to be back by now, and things are trending towards him not even suiting up for one game in 2017. The Colts just need to get this right as Luck is one of the best young QBs in the league and they don't want to ruin his career. Fantasy owners should just assume Luck is going to miss this season and Jacoby Brissett will continue as the team's starter.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders limited

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Reports indicate Sanders looked good at practice on Wednesday. It looks like his speed and burst is back after missing some time with this ankle injury. Sanders is likely back for Week 9 against the Eagles 26th ranked pass defense. He had a great connection with new starting quarterback Brock Osweiler back in 2015, and we'll see if they can rekindle that connection.

BUF - WR Zay Jones on track to play
    Source: BuffaloBills.com
Buffalo Bills WR Zay Jones (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jones should play on Thursday night against the Jets. He's not doing much during his rookie season, and he should get fewer targets with WR Kelvin Benjamin added via trade earlier this week.

Source: NBC4 Washington - Heather McDonough
Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Kelley should be able to practice fully later in the week. He's a RB3 or flex option in PPR leagues if he plays against the Seahawks.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) was not able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Things are trending towards Reed missing time with yet another injury. Vernon Davis should start for Washington and has TE1 upside in Week 9 against Seattle.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller limited in practice
    Source: HoustonTexans.com
Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Miller should get a full practice in later this week. Against the Colts in Week 9, Miller could pay off in a big way for his fantasy owners as a RB1.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman limited
    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure
Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (neck, shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Freeman is a little banged up and the team will give him rest. As he deals with these injuries, the Falcons might mix in a little more Tevin Coleman.

    Source: DolphinsWire - Antwan Staley
Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (ribs) was able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and he is expected to be ready to play in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
With six teams on bye, there might be some fantasy owners desperate enough to start Cutler. It's best to consider Cutler a QB2 in his first week back...and the team's first game without RB Jay Ajayi (Eagles).

Fournette is back after missing a game in Week 7 due to this ankle injury. The team had a bye in Week 8, and Fournette (barring setback) will be out there against the Bengals on Sunday.

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Shepard should be on the field for the Giants in Week 9. He's the best wide receiver on the Giants roster and his role alone gives him WR3 fantasy value.

DAL - WR Cole Beasley not cleared to practice yet
Source: NFL Network - Jane Slater
Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol and will not practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. NFL network's Jane Slater reports Beasley hasn't had many side effects or symptoms and has been involved in team meetings.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Beasley's playing status for Week 9 is unknown. If he doesn't play, the Cowboys could use rookie WR Ryan Switzer a bit more in his place.

NE - QB Brian Hoyer returns to New England
Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Free-agent QB Brian Hoyer (49ers) is set to sign a three-year contract with the New England Patriots on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
After trading away Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers, the Patriots were without a backup quarterback. It was an easy call to go back to Hoyer. He began his career in the NFL as an undrafted free agent for New England back in 2009. Hoyer spent a couple of seasons with the Patriots before bouncing around to six other NFL teams.

JAX - WR Marqise Lee out of practice

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (undisclosed) is out of practice Wednesday, Nov. 1.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Check back to see if Lee can practice on Friday. If he plays in Week 9 against the Bengals, we can only recommend Lee as a WR3 or flex play.

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) has been ruled out for Week 9.

No surprise here. The Bills have a short week as they play against the Jets on Thursday night. Without Clay again, the team continues to use Nick O'Leary and Logan Thomas at the TE position.

    Friday Update

HOU - QB Deshaun Watson's torn ACL confirmed

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson's (knee) torn anterior cruciate ligament has been confirmed, according to a source. He is out for the rest of the season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is awful news, and confirms that Watson is done for the season. We're not excited by Tom Savage, and what he could do with DeAndre Hopkins either. This represents a severe hit to the Texans playoff hopes and offensive output, though Lamar Miller could see more work out of the backfield, which could make him more productive.

IND - QB Andrew Luck will not play this season

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Nov. 2, effectively ending his 2017 season. Luck will cease throwing activities and will continue his rehabilitation. The ordeal is not career-ending and Luck is optimistic about his future.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This isn't surprising, and it feels like the writing was on the wall weeks ago. Luck is desperately in need of a lot of rest and hopefully he can recapture his mojo next season.

SF - WR Pierre Garcon headed to IR

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

San Francisco 49ers WR Pierre Garcon (neck) will be placed on injured reserve, according to general manager John Lynch. This will end Garcon's first season in San Francisco.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Given the state of the quarterback position right now, Garcon won't be missing much in fantasy value. Marquise Goodwin, Trent Taylor, and Aldrick Robinson will attempt to fill the void, but you should avoid this situation completely.

DAL - RB Alfred Morris to receive start

Source: NFL Network - Jane Slater

Dallas Cowboys RB Alfred Morris will be the starting running back for the Cowboys in Week 9, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We like Morris, but he's no Ezekiel Elliott. Morris is a solid runner and we think he could be very effective, but against a tough Kansas City defense and with the potential Rod Smith or Darren McFadden could see significant work, we see him as a decent RB3 option.

MIA - RB Kenyan Drake will be lead back

    Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake will be the lead back with RB Damien Williams serving as the goal line back, according to offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drake will get to split carries with Damien Williams, and Williams is likely to get the goal line looks. This offense has been pretty rough, so we're not terribly excited by either runner. Consider either one somewhere around a RB4 and if you have to start them with a bye week issue, hope for the best.

CIN - Bengals work out three kickers

Source: NFL Trade Rumors - Nate Bouda

The Cincinnati Bengals hosted tryouts with free-agent PKs Jason Myers (Jaguars), Andrew Franks (Dolphins) and Marshall Koehn (Vikings) Thursday, Nov. 2, with PK Randy Bullock (back) dealing with an injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no reason to have Bullock in your lineup this week against the stifling Jaguars defense anyway. Drop him for another kicker to avoid a surprise on Sunday.

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Graham is one of our top fantasy tight end plays. Get him in your lineups.

ARI - RB Andre Ellington limited again at practice

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (quadriceps) was a limited participant in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adrian Peterson has taken over the backfield, so Ellington's value is pretty low. Peterson is worth a RB1 start against San Francisco, though.

SEA - RB C.J. Prosise limited

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Nobody here in Seattle's backfield is very inspiring. Eddie Lacy is our top back, and really he's not much to speak of. Until Prosise is healthy - and we see if Duane Brown can salvage the offensive line play at left tackle - Prosise should be kept on the shelf.

MIA - QB Jay Cutler practices in full again

    Source: MiamiDolphins.com

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (ribs) was a full participant at practice for the second day in a row Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cutler was a mess before his injury and things haven't improved since either for himself or the offense. If you need a bye week fill-in, he'll serve but his ceiling is pretty limited to low-end QB2 status.

TEN - WR Corey Davis practices in full

    Source: NFL

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he plays, Davis could get involved immediately. The passing offense has some issues and he should be part of the solution. We see him as a solid WR3 this week against a shaky Baltimore team.

MIA - Another full practice for WR DeVante Parker

    Source: MiamiDolphins.com

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) was a full participant at practice for the second day in a row Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This whole offense is suspect, but we think Parker could help make it at least serviceable. His ceiling isn't too high coming out of the gate, but he should be a decent WR4, something a lot of Fantasy GMs with bye week issues will be happy to have.

DAL - WR Cole Beasley practices Thursday

    Source: NFLMedia.com

Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley (concussion) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think he's likely out this week, and aside from a big game in Week 5, has been forgettable this season. He's only worth a spot on deeper rosters.

BAL - QB Joe Flacco takes part in practice

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flacco has been average to bad this season, and has yet to break the 250 yard mark. He's also thrown just six touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He hasn't been a good fantasy start in some time and even if he plays this week, he still isn't worth starting.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant upgraded to full practice

    Source: NFLMedia.com

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Ezekiel Elliott suspended again, the Cowboys are going to throw more, so expect Bryant to be more involved. He's been well targeted lately anyway, and scored touchdowns in two of his last three games. He's a great WR2 start with WR1 upside.

BAL - WR Mike Wallace limited

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Mike Wallace (back) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As long as the Ravens offense is a mess, Wallace's production will be as well. Aside from Week 5, his yardage has been consistently low and he's not worth starting as more than a WR6 and a bye week flex option.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin listed as limited

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin, like the rest of the Baltimore offense, is unreliable and a bit of a mess. He's had more than 50 yards just once this season, but he has scored touchdowns three out of six games. Maclin is your best et in this passing offense, but that's damning with faint praise and he is no more than a WR4.

BAL - RB Terrance West continues to sit

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West is far behind Alex Collins and Javorius Allen, who are a low-end RB2 and a solid RB3 respectively. West has been so banged up this season there's no real expectation he can catch up.

GB - RB Ty Montgomery practices in full

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Aaron Jones is now the lead back in Green Bay, and looks like he's not going anywhere. We're not saying cut Montgomery, because Jones is a rookie who could wear down and the Packers also seem to be snakebit in terms of injury. That said, he's not anyone you can risk starting as long as Jones is effective.

ATL - WR Taylor Gabriel logs full practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (tooth) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It seems like the surge Gabriel had last season was a mirage and he's not much of a part of an offense which has had some issues overall. He's not worth a start this week.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman limited Thursday

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (abdomen, shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 2, with what is now listed as abdomen and shoulder injuries as opposed to neck and shoulder injuries.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not worried and he should be a 'go' this weekend against Carolina. We like him as a solid RB1 this week, but he's been pretty unreliable. Last week he was out-touched by Tevin Coleman and he's been shaky all season. He's not an every week start right now, but he should do well this week.

GB - TE Martellus Bennett misses practice

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Green Bay Packers TE Martellus Bennett (shoulder) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bennett has been terribly disappointing this year, and now that Aaron Rodgers is out, it looks as if he will never get on track. Add in this shoulder injury and we wouldn't start him even if he was active.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay remains sidelined

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Briefly everyone was excited for Golladay but he's spent so much time on the trainer's table he's long since lost his luster. He's not worth rostering at this point, especially with Golden Tate back.

WAS - RB Rob Kelley limited

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't love Kelley this week, and have him rated as a RB4. You can get away with him in a pinch but his upside isn't great. Chris Thompson looks like a better bet, mostly because of his prowess catching passes out of the backfield. We don't expect either back to have much luck on the ground though.

WAS - WR Jamison Crowder does not practice

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowder could be a game time decision, and his absence would bump up Terrelle Pryor's value. Crowder would be a decent WR5/flex play, but if he's out again on Friday, we have to consider dropping him down.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller limited

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We are expecting Miller to play and with the injury to DeShaun Watson, get a significant number of carries. He's a solid RB2 start this week, and we're hoping he gets a full practice tomorrow, though we also won't hesitate to start him if he's limited.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders should return

Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) is expected to return to action this week against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Vance Joseph.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders, whether it's Brock Osweiler or a beer vendor, should be a solid WR2 start this weekend. The Eagles are good, but Sanders is better.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart takes part in practice

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart is firmly behind Christian McCaffrey now, and relegated to RB3 status. It seems like the Panthers have figured out how to use the rookie, and he should see a lot of work now that Kelvin Benjamin is gone.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard upgraded to full

    Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With nobody but rookie tight end Evan Engram to throw to, Eli Manning could toss a lot of balls Shepard's way. This offense is ugly though, and limits him to no more than a decent WR3 play, even if he's likely to lead in targets.

WAS - WR Terrelle Pryor healed up

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins WR Terrelle Pryor (foot) said his reduced role the last two weeks allowed two bad bruises on his right foot to heal. He played a combined 48 snaps in the last two games.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's going to have to fight his way in to the action, as Josh Doctson and Jamison Crowder got most of the targets the last few weeks. It may not be terribly hard as neither one is lighting the league on fire. We're not sure if Pryor is healthy enough to depend on, though, so this week we'd pass on him.

    Saturday Update

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott cleared to play

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott received a stay from the 2nd Circuit of Appeals Friday, Nov. 3, which makes him eligible to play in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Get him back in your lineup and Alfred Morris out. There will be a hearing on the merits, possibly as soon as next week, so we can't count on Elliott playing in Week 10. If his suspension is reinstated next week, he will not return until Week 16.

WAS - QB Kirk Cousins leads shorthanded offense

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins will be facing the Seattle Seahawks in Week 9, but he will not have two tight ends, two starting offensive linemen, a key reserve lineman and he might also be missing his top wide receiver.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks will be without Earl Thomas and Sheldon Richardson, Jeremy Lane and Bobby Wagner are questionable, but the losses on Washington's side are much more significant.

KC - Two young WRs could see bigger role

Source: The Kansas City Star - Blair Kerkhoff

Kansas City Chiefs WRs Jehu Chesson and Demarcus Robinson could be in for larger roles in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys with WR Albert Wilson (hamstring) out. Head coach Andy Reid said Friday, Nov. 3, the team is unlikely to summon help from the practice squad.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robinson had a productive game against the Raiders and the Broncos matchup last week was a tough one for wide receivers. He's a viable desperation WR3/Flex because of the matchup against the Cowboys and the potential for a high-scoring game.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay out again

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

TJ Jones will be a desperation WR3/Flex coming off of a 4-88 line against the Steelers last week. The Packers secondary is vulnerable, so Jones is viable.

MIA - QB Jay Cutler questionable

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (ribs) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 3, but is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cutler is actually a viable bye week coverage play facing a decimated Oakland secondary and with no viable starting quality back in his backfield after Jay Ajayi was traded.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin listed as questionable

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 3, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin should play and might be Joe Flacco's #1 target against the Titans. He's a desperation WR3/Flex this week.

WAS - WR Jamison Crowder likely to sit Week 9

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (hamstring) is listed as questionable on the team's Week 9 injury report, but told reporters Friday, Nov. 3, he doesn't want to aggravate his hamstring injury any further and 'have it linger the rest of the season.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Even if Crowder is active, he might not play very much. Washington has so many injured players that they are likely to have some active players who aren't going to play. He's too risky to trust in Week 9.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker questionable

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (ankle) returned to practice on a limited basis Friday, Nov. 3, and is listed as questionable on the team's injury report ahead of Week 9 versus the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Walker is worth a TE1 start if he plays, but he will carry some risk. If Walker is inactive, rookie Jonnu Smith could be a sleeper in deeper leagues.

TEN - WR Corey Davis cleared for Week 9

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (hamstring) practiced again without incident Friday, Nov. 3, and will return to the field following a five-game absence in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis is a boom/bust WR3 this week as the Titans gave him a big role in Week 1 despite missing most of the preseason and camp with his hamstring issue, so they could give him a big role if the hamstring tests out well early in the game.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed ruled out

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (hamstring) will not play in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Niles Paul is also out, leaving Vernon Davis as the only top three Washington tight end to be able to go on Sunday. Davis is a good bye week fill-in and could be a Top 10-12 fantasy tight end for as long as Reed is out.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders questionable for Week 9

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) is listed as questionable on the injury report for Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Sanders is fully expected to play and should get a lot of targets against an Eagles defense that is very tough on the run and usually draws higher than average pass attempts.

DET - RB Ameer Abdullah hoping for more red zone work

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah recently told reporters while he has no plans to ask Otis for a bigger role in the red zone, he is more than willing to help the team improve on its last-place ranking in short-yardage conversions (33.3 percent conversion rate on third- and fourth-and-1, far below the NFL average of 66.5 percent).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Abdullah has a decent matchup against a Packers defense that has been giving up a lot to opposing running backs since Aaron Rodgers went out. He might be worth a flex play this week with six teams on bye.

Peterson is a borderline RB1 this week with six teams on bye and a very favorable matchup against the 49ers banged up defense.

    Sunday Morning Injury Updates

    QUARTERBACK

JAMEIS WINSTON | SHOULDER | QUESTIONABLE | EXPECTED TO PLAY

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full
Last Friday, Winston's shoulder injury looked to be a minor issue. After a limited week of practice, Winston worked out on Friday, then completed 32 of 44 passes for 384 yards on the road in Week 7. One week later, there's much more concern. Dirk Koetter told Sirius XM radio Winston aggravated his shoulder sprain in Week 7 and was also receiving treatment for a bruise in his deltoid muscle. Winston's poor performance against Carolina -- 21 of 38 for 210 yards with multiple poorly thrown passes -- raises concerns about whether his shoulder injury/aggravation or a divisional opponent who knows the Tampa Bay offensive well was the primary limiting factor.

While Carolina's defense certainly played a role, it's reasonable to think Winston's shoulder is affecting his accuracy. The Buccaneers again limited Winston's throwing in practice this week before returning him to the usual Friday full -- but minor -- workout. Winston will play this week but until we see his accuracy improve and Tampa Bay comfortable increasing his practice load during the week, expect some hiccups in his performance.

    Jay Cutler
    | Ribs | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

Cutler had no chance to recover on a short week to play in the Week 7 Thursday night game. But Adam Gase had seen enough of Matt Moore and told reporters in his post-game press conferences Cutler would start ten days later. Though he's listed questionable, Cutler fully practiced and will start this week. There's a risk of inaccuracy and an in-game aggravation but Cutler can reasonably be expected to finish the game.

    Others of note: Joe Flacco
(concussion), Cam Newton (shoulder) and Blake Bortles (chest) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Deshaun Watson (knee) and Andrew Luck (shoulder) were placed on injured reserve. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    RUNNING BACK

Leonard Fournette | Ankle | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

Fournette's low ankle sprain kept him out of last week's game after he responded more slowly than expected to rehab and the medical staff wasn't quite comfortable with his ability to cut at speed late in the week. Now, three weeks from the ankle injury, Fournette had no practice restrictions this week and the Jaguars intend to return him to his pre-injury role. Expect Fournette to play with minimal, if any, limitations this week.

    Devonta Freeman
    | Neck / Shoulder | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Television replays of Freeman's shoulder injury were not clear enough to determine a precise injury. By midweek, it was reported Freeman suffered a stinger. The Falcons chose to keep him in a non-contact jersey this week, though Dan Quinn jokingly said Freeman didn't have to wear it on Thursday -- he just liked the look of it. The Falcons consistently told reporters Freeman's shoulder would not limit him this week and supported their contention by not listing him on the game status report despite no full practices this week.

It's a little disconcerting to see a player restricted from contact after a stinger. If there are lingering pain, weakness, or range of motion concerns after a stinger, players usually are restricted from practice until they can protect themselves. And that can take days to weeks. If Freeman had a stinger, his symptoms likely resolved quickly, with this week's restrictions more likely due to a sprain or contusion. While the game status report is reassuring, be aware that handicapping the Falcons' offensive target share this season has been difficult. If there are any in-game issues, Atlanta may increase Tevin Coleman's usage -- as they did at the end of last week's game.

Unfortunately, we don't know enough about Freeman's condition to approximate odds on that happening. Watch for Sunday morning updates. If the Twitter feeds of Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport are quiet, Freeman can likely be expected to see his pre-injury workload.

***Sunday Morning Update: Freeman was not mentioned by either Schefter or Rapoport this AM. While there's no guarantee the Falcons won't use Coleman more this week, I see the lack of "need" to update the public on Freeman's condition as a positive sign.

    Rob Kelley
    | Ankle | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Washington had a quarter of the players on their active roster out or limited in practice this week including Kelley, who's been playing on a sprained ankle. There doesn't seem to be any concern locally about Kelley's availability. However, Washington continues to use multiple backs in multiple roles, at least two starters on the line are out with another two starters limited at best, and both Vernon Davis and Niles Paul will be inactive. Though Seattle's defense has its own injury issues, any limitation for Kelley will be rough. After only 12 offensive snaps and eight carries last week, don't expect much more from Kelley this week.

    Matt Breida
    | Knee | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Although I didn't see it specifically confirmed anywhere else, Stephania Bell tweeted early this week that Brieda suffered a low-grade MCL sprain last week. The 49ers limited him to non-contact work until late in the week but did not list him on the game status report. He's expected to play.

    C.J. Prosise
    | Ankle | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

Two weeks ago, Prosise fully practiced on Thursday and Friday but had only a lukewarm Friday endorsement from Pete Carroll and played just two snaps against the Giants. On Friday, Prosise told reporters the pain he was experiencing two weeks ago is gone and Carroll told reporters Prosise was "full speed and looking good." Still, the Seahawks have a stable running back depth chart and Carroll wouldn't fully commit to Prosise returning to the active roster. He's officially considered a game-time decision. While Prosise looks to be ready to return, it's not clear whether the Seahawks fully trust him to take up a roster spot and execute their game plan.

    Andre Ellington
    | Quad | Questionable | Game-time decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

There were no actionable local reports on Ellington through Friday night. The limited practices, after a bye week to rest and now three weeks after what's been reported as a contusion, are worrisome. Hopefully, Ellington is being eased back in to work without much concern from the team. But watch the Sunday reports and inactive list closely if the market share in the Arizona backfield interests you.

***Sunday Morning Update: Ellington is expected to play today.

    Others of note: Lamar Miller
(knee), Ty Montgomery (ribs/wrist), Jonathan Stewart (toe), and Paul Perkins (ribs) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Terrance West (calf) has been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    WIDE RECEIVER

Emmanuel Sanders | Ankle | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

Sanders was reportedly given a six week timetable after his ankle injury in Week 6 and was still limping significantly during practice last week. This week, Sanders told reporters he could make all the cuts he needed to make and returned to a full Friday practice. Sanders also told reporters he isn't "all the way" himself yet but expected to play. The potential of a limited route tree and quarterback change to Brock Osweiler are both concerns for Sanders' upside.

    DeVante Parker
    | Ankle | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

The practice line looks good for Parker and all indications are that Parker will return this week. However, Adam Gase has pulled no punches with his team over the past two weeks and wasn't ready to say all is well with Parker on Friday. While Gase told reporters Parker has looked good and isn't restricting himself in practice, he also said Parker wasn't ready for a physical secondary last week and said there were no guarantees Parker was healthy enough to finish a game yet. It's dangerous to read too much into observations in the locker room, but at least one beat reporter noted a limp during the week. I expect Parker to play but there are enough red flags to worry about a lower than usual floor for Parker in his return. Working in Parker's favor will be a matchup against a banged-up Oakland secondary that will be without David Amerson again.

    Sterling Shepard
    | Ankle | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

Shepard fully practiced out the Giants' bye week, is not listed on the game status report, and will play. One of many players close to playing in Week 7 before their team elected to hold them out to rest through a Week 8 bye, the extra two weeks of rehab and recovery are positive signs for those looking for Shepard to play without limitation.

    Marqise Lee
    | Knee | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited

Lee was very limited in practice in the Jaguars' Week 7 game but played. He's remained limited despite a bye week recovery period. Observers expect him to play this week. Despite the limited practice, Lee played 47 snaps and was targeted 6 times in Week 7.

    Jeremy Maclin
    | Shoulder | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Mike Wallace | Back | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

The Ravens listed 12 players questionable this week but expect nearly all of them to play. That includes Maclin and Wallace. Maclin has been listed with a shoulder injury for weeks and missed time, including one unexpected absence in Week 6. Watch pregame notes closely but expect him to play. Wallace has recovered from a recent concussion but continues to have sporadic practice participation due to back pain. His full practice on Friday suggests he'll be fully available barring an unexpected pre-game flare.

    Jamison Crowder
    | Hamstring | Questionable | Inactive

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

Crowder aggravated a mild, but nagging hamstring strain last week. Jay Gruden was not optimistic on Crowder's availability at all this week and Washington did not clear Crowder to practice. Crowder isn't reassuring either and told reporters after Friday's DNP he does not want to further aggravate his injury and "have it linger the rest of the season." An important note for those watching Washington's inactive list: The team has more than six players who are not healthy enough to play this week. At least three offensive linemen are going to be inactive. Two tight ends have already been ruled out. It's possible Crowder will be on the active roster but not play. If he is active and dresses, he'll likely see very few snaps at best.

***Saturday Update: Crowder did not travel with the team and has been declared out.

    Cole Beasley
    | Concussion | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

Beasley's practice participation increased throughout the week and Dallas cleared him to visit the independent neurologist for clearance to return to game action. At the time the team's game status report was published, the outcome of that visit was still unknown and the Cowboys list him questionable. Beasley is expected to be cleared and play.

    Dede Westbrook
    | Core abdominal muscle repair | Not yet on active roster

Westbrook was officially designated to return this week and practiced. He's not listed on the team's game status report because the Jaguars haven't yet moved him to their active roster. Doug Marrone was still unsure whether the team would do so this week. They have until Saturday afternoon to decide. If Westbrook is activated, he'll have no surgical restrictions and is ready to play. However, the Jaguars have said they'll limit his offensive role early. I'll update after Jacksonville makes their roster decision.

***Saturday Update: Westbrook was not moved to the active roster and is not yet eligible to play.

    Corey Davis
    | Hamstring | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

Davis admitted he wasn't fully recovered before his most recent aggravation. Unfortunately, aggravations are a common occurrence -- particularly in young players who may not understand the fine line between "still injured" and "limited but ready." After another month of rehab, Davis fully practiced out of the Titans' bye week and is ready to play. Mike Mularkey told reporters Davis wasn't yet ready for a full snap count but would have a significant role in the offense despite the limited snap count. If Davis is effective and finishes the game healthy, he'll see a full workload in the weeks to come.

    Adam Humphries
    | Rib | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

The Buccaneers routinely use the questionable tag as a surrogate for probable. Humphries increased his practice participation all week and is expected to see his usual snap count.

    Others of note: Dez Bryant
(knee), Terrelle Pryor (ankle), Brandon LaFell (hamstring), and Taylor Gabriel (tooth) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Kenny Golladay (hamstring), Tyler Boyd (knee), and Albert Wilson (hamstring) have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    TIGHT END

    Zach Ertz | Hamstring | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Not Listed | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Ertz left Thursday's practice with a tight hamstring and was short with reporters who asked questions about his status. The Eagles cleared him to return to a limited Friday practice, which is generally a good sign. At minimum, the medical staff was looking to see how Ertz responded the following day with the hopes of clearing him. Doug Pederson told reporters he expects Ertz to play, noting the medical staff decided to "back him down" and "not push him any farther." I expect Ertz's status to be addressed in the Sunday morning Schefter/Rapoport tweet updates.

***Sunday Morning Update: Adam Schefter tweeted this AM that Doug Pederson said Ertz will play. Shortly after, Ian Rapoport tweeted a source told him Ertz is expected to play. There were no reports of limitation. I'll continue to monitor news on Ertz this morning.

    Delanie Walker
    | Ankle | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - Limited

Walker wants to play this week and the Titans have no concerns putting veteran offensive talent on the field on game day whether they practice or not. Walker admitted his return would depend on how well he "can take the pain." That's an obvious response but a meaningful one. Bone bruises are painful, especially if it's in a weight-bearing area of the ankle. Given Walker's inability to do much in practice -- Mike Mularkey said Walker could only "do some things" and didn't trust him to do much on the indoor turf field -- it's clear Walker's bone bruise remains painful.

I think Walker is on the doubtful side of his questionable tag. If he is active, he'll be limited and at risk of an early exit if he's unable to perform.

*Martellus Bennett | Shoulder | Doubtful | Likely Inactive

Practice Participation: Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP | Sat - DNP

The Packers have not published their Saturday practice report and game status report yet but Bennett is looking doubtful to play. Mike McCarthy said the team was still waiting on test results at the end of the week and multiple beat writers believe Bennett will be rested. I'll update after Saturday's release.

***Saturday Update: Bennett did not practice Saturday and is listed doubtful. He is likely to be inactive.

    C.J. Fiedorowicz
    | Concussion | Not yet on Active Roster

Fiedorowicz was designated to return this week and returned to practice. As of Friday, his recovery continued to progress and Bill O'Brien told reporters Fiedorowicz had a good chance to be ready. As of Saturday morning, the Texans had yet to move him to the active roster. I'll update after the NFL's Saturday transaction press release.

***Saturday Update: Fiedorowicz was not moved to the active roster and is not yet eligible to play.

    Others of note
: Jimmy Graham (ankle), Ryan Griffin (hip), and Maxx Williams (ankle) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Jordan Reed (hamstring) and Niles Paul (concussion) have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    DEFENSIVE PLAYER NOTES

    EDGE:

Olivier Vernon didn't practice after resting through the bye week and will again be inactive.

Dee Ford aggravated his back injury and is out this week. Hopefully, this won't be a prolonged absence. It's reassuring there has yet to be reports of a specialist visit or steroid injection, but the missed games over two separate time frames are concerning.
    DEFENSIVE LINE:
Sheldon Richardson is considered a game-time decision with a mid-week strain of his oblique muscle. Pete Carroll wasn't particularly optimistic and it's a tough injury to play through.
    LINEBACKER:
Bobby Wagner generally plays whether he practices or not but Pete Carroll told reporters the team would see how he looked in pregame before deciding on his game day status.
Reuben Foster is expected to play this week, according to Kyle Shanahan.
B.J. Goodson and Jonathan Casillas are both out this week.
Todd Davis is recovering from a high ankle sprain. He's made good progress but remains a game-time decision.
    DEFENSIVE BACK:
Earl Thomas is out with a hamstring injury and could miss multiple weeks.
Ronald Darby will likely be inactive this week and return after Philadelphia's Week 10 bye.
Kam Chancellor is listed questionable but Pete Carroll told reporters Chancellor was ready to play.

    Sunday Update

PHI - RB Jay Ajayi might not play Sunday

    Source: NFL.com - Edward Lewis

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said he hasn't decided if RB Jay Ajayi will play in Week 9's game against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners shouldn't be expecting much from Ajayi if he does play against the Broncos. Ajayi has only been given a limited portion of the playbook, featuring just '10 to 15 plays' to focus on for now. If he's on the field it is likely a 'tell' that the Eagles are going to run as Ajayi may not yet be trusted in pass protection.

OAK - Normal load for RB Marshawn Lynch

Source: Sacramento Bee - Matt Kawahara

Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch's won't have a diminished role in the offense when he returns from a one-game suspension to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 9, according to offensive coordinator Todd Downing.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A normal load for Lynch just isn't that much as he's been averaging around 12 carries per game recently. With the Raiders season spiraling down, they might turn to Lynch more in order to help them out. Of course, they should have been doing that already so we're not going to get too excited about the possibility of an increased role for Lynch until we see it. With his current role, Lynch is a RB3 or flex option for fantasy owners.

JAX - WR Dede Westbrook not activated

    Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Dede Westbrook (core) was not activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Nov. 4, and will not play in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Westbrook can make an instant impact for the Jagaurs passing game as a big-play specialist when healthy. The rookie WR from Oklahoma has burst, speed and the attitude to gash defenders regularly. Stash him in deep bench leagues if you can.

GB - RB Ty Montgomery ready to play

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Even though Aaron Jones is the lead back for the Packers now, more touches for Montgomery as a reserve may be in the future. The team needs to limit QB Brett Hundley and run early and often when they can. Montgomery is a deep flex or RB4 in Week 9 against the Lions.

GB - Doubtful tag for TE Martellus Bennett

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers TE Martellus Bennett (shoulder) did not participate in practice Saturday, Nov. 4, and is listed as doubtful for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This injury forces Bennett out of the lineup for the first time in 2017. He's not been doing much with the Packers as a receiver this year, but Bennett is a strong blocker who helps blast open holes for the rushing attack. Lance Kendricks and Richard Rodgers will fill in for Bennett in Week 9 against the Lions.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay listed as doubtful

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring) was limited during practice Saturday, Nov. 4, and is listed as doubtful for Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay hasn't been on the field since Week 3. We like the rookie WR in dynasty formats but redraft owners should have moved on a long time ago.

The Texans did add Matt McGloin after Watson's injury. McGloin played under Texans head coach Bill O'Brien in college at Penn State. It shouldn't take him long to get up to speed in the offense. In the meantime, Yates is the veteran behind starter Tom Savage.

BAL - TE Nick Boyle a game-time decision

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens TE Nick Boyle (toe) will be a game-time decision for the team's Week 9 game, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Boyle had a season-high four catches for 29 yards in Week 8 against the Dolphins. We'd say he's on the doubtful side of questionable for Week 9 against the Titans.

DET - TE Eric Ebron still has support

Source: The Detroit News - Justin Rogers

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron's chances of being traded before the deadline were exaggerated, according to head coach Jim Caldwell, and Caldwell said he expects Ebron's production to improve as the season goes on.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron has support, but that is unlikely to lead to fantasy points. He's barely used this year, and should only be projected for a small handful of catches each week. The Lions are using TE Darren Fells more in the red zone, and that's why he has three receiving TDs compared to Ebron's lone score in 2017.

DEN - More carries for RB Devontae Booker?

Source: The Denver Post - Nick Kosmider
Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker has made the most of his limited touches, according to head coach Vance Joseph. 'He's a young guy with strong, fresh legs,' Joseph said. 'He has great ball skills. As we go along here, he should get more opportunities.'
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
All fantasy owners need to take note here. Booker may be on some waiver wires out there, and he needs to be stashed on your bench if possible. The Broncos really like Booker and had plans for him to be the starting back before he injured his wrist in June. As Booker gets more touches..and perhaps even starts for the Broncos...it will decrease the role for C.J. Anderson. Using more Booker could also really impact the touches for backup Jamaal Charles.

    Jay Ajayi

If you're a Jay Ajayi guy, know that it looks like he'll play today with his new team, but he's expected to have a limited role.

From the NFL.com article by Kevin Patra

"Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Friday he was still mulling whether to play Ajayi in his first week with the team, noting the tailback could be in on 10 to 15 plays.

"He's done a nice job," Pederson said Friday. "He's a smart guy. He comes from an offense that uses very similar terminology, so he's familiar with that. He's picked it up, he's had some extra meetings with [running backs coach] Duce [Staley] this week, so we're trying to get him up to speed as fast as he can and we can and he's done a nice job."

"This week, LeGarrette Blount should remain the early-down back with Wendell Smallwood playing the pass-catching role. Rookie Corey Clement could see his few snaps go to Ajayi."

Make sure to understand, Doug Pederson doesn't have to do what he said here. But this is what he said and we tend to believe and see Ajayi with a limited role this week.

    Here's to Football.

Jay Ajayi must be damaged goods for Miami to trade him for so little. He was great last year.

He probably likes the chance to play with a good Qb.

    Monday Update

IND - QB Jacoby Brissett posts 308 yards, two TDs
    Source: The Associated Press
Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett completed 20 of his 30 pass attempts for 308 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 9 game against the Houston Texans. He also ran twice for 12 yards.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Brissett was able to ride T.Y. Hilton to a good fantasy day against the Texans. He's proving that he has a future as a starting quarterback, but could have a lot rougher time against the Steelers next week.

JAX - RB Chris Ivory plays well in Week 9
    Source: NFL.com
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Ivory rushed for 69 yards on 20 carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9. He also caught three passes for 34 yards during the game.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ivory is the still the backup to Leonard Fournette and ahead of TJ Yeldon. He ran hot despite his low yards per carry and should be held as a handcuff to Fournette even after Fournette returns to face the weak Chargers run defense next week.

CIN - One catch for WR A.J. Green
    Source: NFL.com
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green caught one pass for six yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9 before he was ejected from the game for his altercation against Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Green had enough of Jalen Ramsey and threw punches at him three times while wrestling him to the ground. He is clearly frustrated beyond Ramsey's coverage and trash talking. He's still a WR1 against Tennessee next week but the cracks are showing in the Bengals team.

CAR - WR Devin Funchess delivers as No. 1
    Source: The Associated Press
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess posted five receptions for 86 yards on seven targets in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Funchess was up to being the #1 receiver after Kelvin Benjamin was trade earlier this week. He'll be worth a WR3/Flex look against the Dolphins next week.

CAR - RB Christian McCaffrey runs well in win
    Source: The Associated Press
Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey rushed 15 times for 66 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McCaffrey led the team in carries and got the rushing score to possibly symbolize taking over the lead back role from Jonathan Stewart after Stewart fumbled twice early in the game. He's moving toward RB1 status in PPR leagues heading into a matchup with Miami.

LAR - WR Robert Woods catches two TDs
    Source: NFL.com
Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods caught four passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants in Week 9.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Woods had one score on a 3rd and 33 wide receiver screen where the Giants defense looked like they were running in wet cement. He has had four straight good weeks in PPR leagues and should be a WR3/Flex against the Texans next week.

TB - QB Jameis Winston leaves game
    Source: Buccaneers.com
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston (shoulder) left the team's Week 9 game early because of a shoulder injury and is considered questionable to return.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ryan Fitzpatrick is in. The shoulder injury was possibly affecting Winston's accuracy. The team has been allowing him to play through shoulder ailments, but since they are going to 2-6 and effectively out of the playoff hunt with no bye, they might rest him against the Jets next week.

HOU - QB Deshaun Watson could need nine months to recover
    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson (knee) is expected to need eight to nine months to recover from his torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a source. However, the last time he sustained the injury, he was able to return to action in five months.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It will be a race for him to be ready for Week 1, but an 8-9 month timeline could get him back on the field for training camp.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch may start soon
Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora
Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (shoulder) is making progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury and could take over as the starting quarterback as soon as Week 10, according to sources. The team would like to evaluate him this season but want to wait until he is completely healthy.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Some local Denver media have disagreed with this report, saying Lynch isn't physically ready, although Osweiler may leave them no choice but to turn to Lynch if his play today resembles his play last year with Houston.

Why wouldn't Denver start Lynch over worthless Osweiler?
