NFL Player News - Week 6

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

NYG - Odell Beckham done for the season

    Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) will miss the rest of the season with a fractured ankle, according to head coach Ben McAdoo.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McAdoo confirms what most had already speculated. The Giants superstar finishes a disappointing 2017 with only 25 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns in four games. He should be ready in time for the season opener in 2018. The Giants already picked up his fifth-year option for next season and Beckham is currently scheduled to hit free agency in 2019.

SF - San Francisco to use hot hand at RB

Source: Sacramento Bee - Matt Barrows

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde will be the first running back to play in games and will be followed by RB Matt Breida, then the team will use the hot hand approach for the rest of the game, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to keep this in mind when considering Hyde for their lineups. He's the lead back, but we could see Breida on the field at key moments for the 49ers. We'll have to see how this plays out, but this news certainly puts a damper on Hyde's fantasy value on a weekly basis.

OAK - QB Derek Carr expected to play

Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal - Michael Gehlken

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (back) is expected to play against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6, according to head coach Jack Del Rio.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carr was going to need 2-6 weeks to recover from the back injury he suffered against the Broncos in Week 4...and it looks like only two weeks were necessary. One has to wonder if the team is rushing him back too soon because the offense lacked spark with E.J. Manuel as the starter against the Ravens in Week 5.

NYG - Odell Beckham, WR Dwayne Harris on IR

    Source: Giants.com - Michael Eisen

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) and WR Dwayne Harris (foot) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 9. The team also re-signed WR Tavarres King. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants are going to be incredibly thin at the WR position in Week 6 as they travel to the Mile High City to play the Broncos on Sunday night. Avoid the Giants passing game at all costs this week.

IND - QB Andrew Luck to miss another game

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has been ruled out for the team's Week 6 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was an earlier plan that had Luck's potential return in Week 6. That was knocked off course by a delay in his recovery. Luck is back at practice and he may return to the field in Week 7 for the Colts.

TEN - WR Corey Davis' status uncertain

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (hamstring) is getting closer to play but his status for Week 6 is uncertain at this time, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis hasn't played since the Week 2 game against the Jaguars. When at full strength, the talented rookie could get double-digit targets per game. We'd feel a lot better about the Titans offense when Marcus Mariota returns as backup Matt Cassel does nothing to jumpstart them.

NYG - WR Brandon Marshall expected to miss time

Source: NFL Network - Kimberly Jones

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) is expected to miss multiple games because of the ankle injury he suffered in Week 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall could miss multiple games and so could Sterling Shepard (ankle). Add in Dwayne Harris and Odell Beckham Jr. who are both lost for the year and you can see how bad the Giants are hurting at the WR position. They travel to face the 'No Fly Zone' of the Broncos defense and QB Eli Manning will be forced to throw to guys like Roger Lewis or Travis Rudolph in Week 6...good luck with that.

ATL - WR Julio Jones takes part in practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) participated in at least a portion of practice Monday, Oct. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones could have a big game against the Dolphins in Week 6. Keep an eye on his status as the week goes on, but he should be ready for the game on Sunday.

DET - QB Matthew Stafford has chance to play

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle, quadriceps) is dealing with ankle and quadriceps injuries, but the Lions are optimistic that he will play in Week 6, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners are hopeful Stafford can play on Sunday against the Saints. He battled through these injuries against the Panthers in Week 5 and posted decent fantasy numbers. We expect Stafford to be limited early in the week of practice but he might be able to practice fully on Friday. Stay tuned.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota still day-to-day

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) is making good progress in his recovery and is still considered day-to-day, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans need to do whatever it takes to get Mariota back on the field. Matt Cassel is an uninspiring option as a starting quarterback, and they don't want to keep losing and fall behind in their division. The Titans play against the Colts on Monday Night Football in Week 6.

ATL - WR Mohamed Sanu does not practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanu was only able to play 31 snaps against the Bills in Week 4 before going down with this injury. The Falcons had the week off last week and we'll see if Sanu can return to practice before the Week 6 game against the Dolphins.

BAL - RB Terrance West expected to miss 'some time'

    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West (calf) received good news from his MRI on Monday, Oct. 9. Although he is expected to miss some time, he is not facing an extended absence, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
With West out, the Ravens will turn to Alex Collins and Buck Allen. Collins may be the most talented RB on the roster but he needs to hang onto the rock (two fumbles so far this year). Allen is more than capable of producing as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. Both backs are potential flex plays with West out.

CLE - Cleveland undecided at quarterback

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson told reporters Monday, Oct. 9, he will take more time before deciding whether DeShone Kizer or Kevin Hogan will start at quarterback in Week 6 against the Houston Texans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Kizer has been benched twice in the last two weeks. That's a trend he will find difficult to overcome. The Texans defense will be without Whitney Mercilus and J.J. Watt, but they still have plenty of playmakers that should disrupt what the Browns want to do on offense. It should be a long day for either Kizer or Hogan on Sunday.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard day-to-day

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (ankle) has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle and is day-to-day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shepard is expected to miss some time even though the results of his MRI were positive. It would be great for the offense if he could play in Week 6 against the Broncos in a really tough matchup. We're not expecting him to play and fantasy owners need to make other plans.

BUF - TE Charles Clay out 'multiple weeks'

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Buffalo Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Monday, Oct. 9, and will miss multiple weeks with a torn meniscus and sprained MCL, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Terrible news for the Bills passing game that is already missing WR Jordan Matthews. Nick O'Leary will take over for Clay while he's out. From a fantasy perspective, we're not starting any Bills assets not named LeSean McCoy.

WAS - RB Rob Kelley out of practice

    Source: CSNWashington.com - JP Finlay

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) is out of practice working with trainers Monday, Oct. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers are coming to town on Sunday, and we're expecting Kelley to suit up. He suffered this ankle injury in Week 4 and had a bye week last week to rest and heal. Kelley should be limited during the week of practice, but we should see him as the starter in Week 6.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker injury minor

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker's (ankle) sprained ankle is believed to be minor, and he hasn't been ruled out for Week 6.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Dolphins travel to play the Falcons in Week 6. If Parker is able to play on Sunday he could perform like a WR3/flex play.

    Wednesday Update

ARI - RB Adrian Peterson lands in Arizona

Source: ESPN.com - Dianna Marie Russini

New Orleans Saints RB Adrian Peterson was acquired by the Arizona Cardinals Tuesday, Oct. 10, for a conditional draft pick, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson has more chance to have fantasy value in Arizona than he did in New Orleans, but we should temper expectations with the reality of the Cardinals running game. Even David Johnson was lackluster as a runner before he went down. David Johnson, Chris Johnson, and Kerwynn Williams combined for barely two yards a carry in their respective stints as the lead back. He needs to get up to 15-20 carries for his effectiveness to peak, but it is questionable that the Cardinals will get him there in many games - no Cardinals back has more than 13 carries in a game this year. Peterson is worth a waiver add to see what happens, but he shouldn't be prioritized over Jerick McKinnon, Aaron Jones, or Elijah McGuire, and maybe not even over Marlon Mack or Matt Breida.

NYG - WR Brandon Marshall goes to IR

Source: SiriusXM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Oct. 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall's got to be about done, from a career standpoint. His tenure with the Giants accounted for just 154 yards on 18 catches, and that was with Odell Beckham Jr out for part of the time. There's no reason to have him in redraft and little to no reason to have him in Dynasty.

DET - TE Eric Ebron meets with Matthew Stafford

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron met with QB Matthew Stafford Monday, Oct. 9, in an effort to correct the slump he's been in this season. Ebron said he is 'in the dumps' mentally and needs to get his act together. Through five games this year, Ebron has managed just 12 catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron hasn't just been bad this season--at times he's been disastrous, including a critical drop against the Panthers last week. Until we see that he has Stafford's trust back and doesn't choke when he does, we're avoiding him.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard sporting walking boot

    Source: NJ.com - Dan Duggan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (foot) is wearing a walking boot on his injured left foot to protect the same ankle he sprained in training camp. Shepard is considered day-to-day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he comes back healthy, Shepard could be the top option for Eli Manning, for what that's worth. Given how bad the offense is, that might not be worth much.

MIN - Decision on QB Teddy Bridgewater next week

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) will be re-evaluated Monday, Oct. 16, after which the Vikings will decide whether or not to activate him from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Sam Bradford clearly not all the way back having Bridgewater back could help the Vikings immensely. That said, financially the Vikings could save a year on Bridgewater's contract if they shut him down. The reality is if they win this weekend, they may throw Bridgewater in there in the hopes he can give them the surge they need to make the playoffs.

SEA - RB C.J. Prosise to return after bye

    Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson

Seattle Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise (ankle) will return to action following the Seahawks' Week 6 bye, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Since Chris Carson went down, the Seahawks run game has been a bit tricky. Prosise should at least get a share of carries and the third down work, if he is truly healthy.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook's surgery a success

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (knee) underwent successful knee surgery Monday, Oct. 9, according to a source. Cook said he will be back for the start of the 2018 season.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We're hoping Cook is back and healthy by next summer, but short term the Vikings are making due with Latavious Murray and Jerrick McKinnon. McKinnon went off against the sad-sack Bears, with 146 total yards and a touchdown. We're not sure how much we trust him, but Green Bay is vulnerable on the ground so he could be a solid flex option.

NE - QB Tom Brady has shoulder ailment

    Source: CSNNE.com - Mike Giardi

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) suffered a non-throwing shoulder injury in Week 4 and re-aggravated the injury last week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Since it's the non-throwing shoulder, our worries are limited. The Jets aren't getting lit up for yardage by quarterbacks so far this year, allowing just 219 a game. They did allow a pair of touchdowns to Kevin Hogan, though, and both Derek Carr and Tyrod Taylor touched them up for at least a pair. Brady is the best quarterback they've faced this year, so we expect higher yardage and multiple touchdowns by the future Hall of Famer this week.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart upgraded Tuesday

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was a limited practice participant Tuesday, Oct. 10, after missing practice Monday, Oct. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart has been getting a decent share of touches, but not doing much with them. Is it the ankle or is he just struggling? With the exception of Kareem Hunt, the Eagles have been pretty good against the run, so we don't have high hopes for the Carolina ground game this week.

CAR - WR Devin Funchess should be fine

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (knee) is expected to be fine to play Thursday, Oct. 12, despite not practicing yet this week, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Funchess missed Monday and Tuesday practices but it sounds like this is mostly him getting a break if they already intend for him to play. As Cam Newton continues to get back on track, Funchess continues to play big. We'd like to see him practice Wednesday, but feel good about him heading into the game against the Eagles.

PHI - RB Wendell Smallwood misses Tuesday practice

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood (knee) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Oct. 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It doesn't look like Smallwood is trending in the right direction. With a short week and a game on Thursday night against the Panthers, we could see the Eagles backfield consist of LeGarrette Blount as the primary back. Corey Clement and Kenjon Barner would serve as change-of-pace backs in Week 6.

ARI - RB Chris Johnson let go

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson was released Tuesday, Oct. 10.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
That could be the end of the road for Johnson in the NFL. Formerly known as CJ2K, Johnson has only averaged 2.5 YPC on 45 carries in 2017. He hasn't played a full 16-game season since 2014 and no longer has the crazy speed that made him a special back in his heyday.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski practices Tuesday

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) took part in practice Tuesday, Oct. 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

When Gronkowski missed the team's Thursday night game last week there was already reports that he wouldn't miss Week 6. It looks like he's on track to play Sunday against the Jets. Gronk is a must-start TE for fantasy owners anytime he puts a jersey on.

LAR - WR Sammy Watkins confused about recent role?

Source: Los Angeles Times - Gary Klein

Los Angeles Rams WRs Sammy Watkins was held without a reception on four targets in Week 6 and has one catch on six targets for 17 yards over his past two games. Watkins expressed his displeasure on social media by saying, 'Something (has to) be going on,' prompting a discussion with head coach Sean McVay on Monday, Oct. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Confused is never the way fantasy owners want their WRs to describe their role on offense. Watkins is upset with his role after only getting targeted six times over the last two games. We'll see if the Rams make a concentrated effort to get Watkins more involved. This week, the Rams are playing the Jaguars in a tough matchup for the passing game. This current role and that matchup make Watkins a lower end fantasy option in Week 6. He's a WR3 or flex play, but we'd recommend sitting him until we things shake out.

GB - RB Aaron Jones has earned more work

    Source: Packers.com - Mike Spofford
Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones has 'earned more opportunities moving forward,' but head coach Mike McCarthy isn't ready to call his backfield a 'one-man show.'
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
That should be apparent to everyone after Jones racked up over 100 yards rushing against the Cowboys in Week 5. We're excited to see him with more opportunities, but Packers head coach Mike McCarthy also threw this quote out "This is not a one-man show. It's going to take them all." Even with the coach leaning things towards a RBBC in Green Bay, Jones is worth as a start if Ty Montgomery (ribs) continues to miss time.

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) said he is feeling much better and believes he has a good chance to play against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) underwent an MRI Tuesday, Oct. 10, that showed no new damage in his knee.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

GB - WR Jordy Nelson goes through full practice

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (back) was listed as a full participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nelson is on track to play against the Vikings if he practiced fully on Wednesday. He was absent from the final drive in Week 5 due to an apparent hamstring injury.

GB - RB Ty Montgomery practices in full

Source: FOX 11 Green Bay - Josh Moser

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Oct. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a good sign for Montgomery's availability if he's practicing fully on Wednesday. If Montgomery does play against the Vikings on Sunday it would negatively impact the fantasy potential for Aaron Jones. With Montgomery down last week, Jones rushed for over 100 yards against the Cowboys in Week 5. He was a hot waiver wire addition this week, and Jones may be working in some form of RBBC in a tough matchup against the Vikings in Week 6.

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Cleveland Browns QB Kevin Hogan was named the starting quarterback Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
After DeShone Kizer was benched each of the last two weeks for Hogan, the writing was clearly on the wall which direction the Browns were going to go in. Hogan is an athletic passer who can gash a defense with his legs. He's got steaming fantasy value in deeper leagues because of his rushing ability...and because the Browns should be playing from behind a lot.

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Williams is 'very close' to returning according to Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn. The big-bodied rookie could make an impact as a red-zone target for the Chargers, but we want to see him in action before trusting him as anything more than a super deep 'what the heck' flex.

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (back) was able to take part in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11, on a limited basis.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Carr was initially supposed to miss 2-6 weeks with this back injury he suffered against the Broncos in Week 4. It looks like he's back for the Week 6 game against the Chargers.

WAS - RB Rob Kelley misses practice

    Source: Redskins.com

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ribs) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Kelley is considered a 'longshot' to play this week, according to head coach Jay Gruden. With Kelley down we'll see Washington turn to Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson. In PPR leagues, Thompson has incredible upside (put him as a RB2) against a 49ers team that struggles to cover RBs out of the backfield.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette limited

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jaguars are going to take it easy on Fournette during the week of practice...then they'll unleash the rookie battering ram on Sunday. Against the 27th ranked rush defense (Los Angeles Rams) in Week 6, Fournette should continue to dominate on the field.

NYJ - RB Matt Forte listed as limited participant

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Matt Forte (knee, toe) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Forte hasn't played since Week 3 due to this toe injury. With Bilal Powell (calf) banged up, the Jets could use him back in this big matchup against the Patriots in Week 6. If Forte and Powell can't go, rookie Eli McGuire will lead the way in the Jets backfield.

MIA - Full practice for RB Jay Ajayi

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Things aren't going well for the Dolphins this year, but Ajayi should be in line for another sizable role against the Falcons in Week 6. Fantasy owners should consider him a RB2 with upside in this matchup.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart set for Week 6

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 11, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the game Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers have a short week as they play against the Eagles on Thursday night. The Eagles have a strong rush defense, ranking 2nd in the league by allowing an average of only 62.8 rushing yards per game. In this tough matchup, fantasy owners should consider Stewart a RB3 or flex play.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay limited Wednesday

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Golladay hasn't been on the field since the Lions Week 3 game against the Falcons. He certainly has disappointed fantasy owners after his big Week 1 game (four catches, 69 yards, two touchdowns) and this injury has lingered for quite some time. If he plays against the Saints, we'd only call him a desperation 'what the heck' flex in Week 6.

DET - Full practice for QB Matthew Stafford

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) put in a full practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Stafford is dealing with a couple of injuries (ankle, quadriceps) and was seen with a bit of a limp. Even with all that, he's likely to play against the Saints on Sunday.

MIA - No practice for WR DeVante Parker

Source: The Miami Herald - Adam H. Beasley

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) missed practice Wednesday, Oct. 11, but head coach Adam Gase said he isn't counting the receiver out for Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The ankle injury was supposed to be minor, and Parker is likely getting a day of rest. We'll see if he can participate (even on a limited basis) later in the week.

MIN - No practice for WR Stefon Diggs

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (groin) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners want Diggs to bounce back this week against the Packers after his one-catch performance on Monday night against the Bears. They're at home this week and Case Keenum will be under center. The Packers corners have allowed at least 100 yards or one touchdown to an opposing lead WR in each of their last four games.

BAL - No practice for RB Terrance West

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West (calf) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
West is expected to miss time with this calf injury. That means the Ravens will turn to Buck Allen and Alex Collins more going forward. Against the Bears in Week 6, Allen could play like a RB2 and Collins could post RB3 numbers for fantasy owners.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard, RB Paul Perkins miss practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (ankle) and RB Paul Perkins (ribs) were unable to practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Giants travel to face the Broncos on Sunday night...and their offense is going to have a tough time moving the chains, let alone scoring points to win. We could see Shepard and Perkins both miss this contest.

CAR - WR Devin Funchess returns to practice

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (knee) was able to participate in the team's walkthrough Wednesday, Oct. 11, and is expected to be able to play Thursday, Oct. 12, versus the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This has been the outlook all along for Funchess. Over the last two weeks, QB Cam Newton has six touchdowns compared to just one interception...and Funchess has been one of his main targets. Funchess now has amassed more targets than Benjamin in each of their last three games on the field together. He can be considered a WR2 or flex play in Week 6 against the Eagles.

PHI - RB Wendell Smallwood questionable

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smallwood is likely on the doubtful side of questionable. If he misses the game against the Panthers on Thursday night, the Eagles would turn to Kenjon Barner or Corey Clement in the change-of-pace role behind lead back LeGarrette Blount.

NO - WR Willie Snead healed up

    Source: NewOrleansSaints.com - John DeShazier

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) has recovered from his hamstring injury, according to head coach Sean Payton.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Snead was eligible to return in the Saints last game but this hamstring injury prevented him from playing in Week 4. With the bye week behind them, the Saints come out at home against the Lions. That's good news for Snead and the New Orleans passing attack. If healthy, Snead is a favorite target of QB Drew Brees and could post WR3/flex numbers for fantasy owners in Week 6.

    Friday Update

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott's suspension reinstated

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension was reinstated by the 5th circuit court of appeals Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This could change again during the bye week, as we know Elliott's lawyers are drafting something as we sit here, but if it doesn't Elliott owners had better have Alfred Morris on their rosters. Rod Smith or Darren McFadden could emerge as a factor, but Morris looked good in limited carries and McFadden has been inactive all year. Smith has never shown anything.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski also upgraded

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) put in a limited practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he plays, and we think he will, he's a TE1 start against a Jets defense which has been hammered by tight ends since back in BR times--that's 'Before Rex.' Start him if he's active.

NE - QB Tom Brady upgraded to limited

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It's not his throwing shoulder, so we aren't worried. Brady has been pretty consistently good and the Jets defense has been inconsistent, so this should be another good Brady outing and he should be a top option this week.

ATL - WR Julio Jones limited again

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Kelsey Conway

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip) put in a limited practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We expect him to play and torch the lackluster Miami secondary this week. So unless we see a day where he does nothing, we're not worried.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he can get on the field this week, Kelce is a sure-fire No. 1 tight end.

IND - QB Andrew Luck to do some team drills

    Source: Colts.com - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) will begin taking 7-on-7 repetitions in practice this week with the scout team, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Colts might be best served shutting him down from a long term point of view, but the AFC South is still anybody's to grab, so they'll get him back as soon as they can. Hopefully that doesn't cause a setback. Jacoby Brissett has done ok in Luck's stead, and would serve as a middling QB2 this week against the Titans.

OAK - QB Derek Carr has another limited practice

    Source: Chargers.com

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (back) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carr's back may still be a factor even if he returns to action this week. He was struggling before the injury, so the back issue won't help. We see him as a middle of the road QB2 and hope that he can bounce back this season.

ARI - JJ Nelson a limited participant

    Source: NFL

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nelson isn't a great option in an offense which is struggling. In a pinch he could be a WR6, but our expectations aren't higher than that.

OAK - WR Amari Cooper limited again Thursday

    Source: Chargers.com

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper has had issues with drops and just generally bad play and even if Derek Carr is back, he's not the start he used to be. Cooper is a WR3 at best right now, even if Carr returns.

ARI - WR John Brown limited

    Source: NFL

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (quadriceps) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Aside from Larry Fitzgerald, we don't love this passing offense, so even if he wasn't banged up, Brown wouldn't be a great start. As it stands, he's no more than a WR5 this week.

GB - RB Ty Montgomery fully practices

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We still think Aaron Jones could get the start but he and Montgomery might eat each other's carries and we can never tell what the Packers will do in terms of carries in a tough matchup. Jones could be a decent RB3 with upside, and Montgomery looks like a RB4.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill limited at practice Thursday

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (hamstring) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We love Hill against a spiraling Steelers team, though we'd love to see a full practice from him. He could put up WR1 numbers this week and is definitely safe to start as a WR2.

NO - WR Willie Snead listed as limited

    Source: NFL

New Orleans Saints WR Willie Snead (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Snead has missed three games due to suspension, a week for a hamstring injury and the team's bye week and he has been saying he is being eased in. Were not sure what his role is, so we're hesitant to put him in lineups as more than a WR5 if you are in a tough spot.

GB - WR Jordy Nelson takes part in practice

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (back) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jordy Nelson's back is back! The Vikings can be a tough matchup, but Aaron Rodgers loves him some Nelson, and the receiver has scored five times in the last three games. We think he's a very good WR2 who you can start as a fringe WR1 if you have need.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay a limited participant

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay is very hit or miss and has been out a few weeks. We'd like to see what he can do when he is healthy, but as it stands he's not worth a roster spot, much less a start.

TEN - Limited participation for QB Marcus Mariota

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We're a little concerned how his injury could hamper him and he was a bit shaky before his injury. He could be a game time decision, and even if he isn't, isn't more than a QB2 as it's likely his injury will hobble him short term.

ATL - No practice for WR Mohamed Sanu

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu (hamstring) remained a non-participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bump Taylor Gabriel to WR3 status with upside, and if Sanu is definitely out, he could see more targets than usual.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker does not practice

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's not looking good for Parker this week. Not that it matters as bad as the offense has looked this year. We were hoping for a breakout Parker this season, and the yards were there, but not in the totals we were expecting. Touchdowns have been equally hard to come by.

MIA - RB Jay Ajayi sits out

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ajayi has only topped 15 carries twice this season and 100 yards once. He has yet to record a touchdown. The offensive line has been shaky and he hasn't had much luck, nor will he against Atlanta. Ajayi is someone we're not expecting to top RB3 production this week.

HOU - D'Onta Foreman limited Thursday

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lamar Miller is the only back here worth having on your roster, and should be in a solid place for RB2 production. Foreman could see enough cleanup work as to warrant a flex back start if you are short players due to bye, but keep your expectations low.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin remains limited

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Baltimore has been pretty weak in terms of fantasy production at wide receiver. Maclin and teammate Mike Wallace are no better than WR6 plays this weekend.

IND - TE Jack Doyle has full practice

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if he plays this weekend, but the tight end position hasn't been great for the Colts this year and Doyle has had one good week. We'd likely skip him or any other Colts tight end this weekend.

JAX - Limited practice for WR Marqise Lee

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (ribs) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Next to Allen Hurns, Lee is the other passing weapon in this offense. Neither of them are great options and Lee is no better than a WR6.

CLE - WR Kenny Britt leaves practice

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns WR Kenny Britt (groin) left practice Thursday, Oct. 12, after being bothered by his groin injury. He is considered day-to-day and it is unclear at this point if he will be able to play this weekend.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That should leave Ricardo Louis as the No. 1 in Cleveland, and against even a Houston defense with less Watt-age than usual, he's no more than a WR4. Britt would be little better if healthy, which he isn't.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette listed as limited

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fournette is a surefire RB1 start pretty much every week. Don't question it. Just go with it. A solid offensive line, a passing offense that is banged up and a good defense gives Fournette a great opportunity to pile on the yards.

MIN - WR Stefon Diggs doesn't practice

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (groin) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Case Keenum makes Diggs' upside lower than we'd like, but he should serve as a nice WR3 this week at least and it's worth remembering he has played well despite Keenum's limitations.

MIN - QB Sam Bradford sits Thursday

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford (foot) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He shouldn't see the field anytime soon. Bradford was likely back too soon. Now it's down to Case Keenum, who we aren't projecting as more than an emergency start and perhaps Teddy Bridgewater if he is cleared next Monday.

NYJ - RB Bilal Powell sits again

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That could leave Elijah McGuire in the lead back chair, against a Patriots team which has struggled defensively. Unfortunately, the Patriots offense tends to get enough of a lead as to negate the issues the defense has against the run. McGuire can catch the ball, but the potential of a big Patriots lead early will limit his overall production to a RB3 level in standard leagues.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch starting to throw

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch threw 15 passes after practice Wednesday, Oct. 11, and said his injured shoulder felt good.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch isn't getting the job back from Trevor Siemian anytime soon. He might overtake Brock Osweiler on the depth chart at some point, but unless Siemian gets hurt, who the number two is really is irrelevant. Siemian is a solid QB2 this week against a Giants defense which has underwhelmed.

WAS - No practice for RB Rob Kelley

Source: The Washington Post - Master Tesfatsion

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ribs) was once again absent from practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chris Thompson and Samaje Perine are the guys you likely want to think about getting into your lineup. Right now, both are solid RB2 options but if Kelley happens to play, Perine might take a hit. This isn't an easy matchup as San Francisco has a decent run defense, but they should get plenty of carries and see some success nonetheless.

BAL - RB Terrance West misses another practice

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West (calf) was not present for practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Javorius Allen will get the lead back carries and the game script should favor him even if he hasn't been terribly impressive as a runner overall this season. Still the volume he will probably see against the Bears plus his receiving ability makes him a good start this week.

IND - Indy not hurrying RB Marlon Mack

    Source: WTHR.com - Bob Kravitz

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack is not being hurried into a featured role, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. Mack has only played in three games this season due to a shoulder injury and Pagano doesn't want to rush him into something he's potentially not ready for.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gore can handle the load, though let's be honest - this Colts team isn't giving great production in any phase of the game. Mack is likely the future, so they might as well preserve him for that, while Gore is in the waning moments of his career and they can run him as hard as they want. Neither is a good start as more than a hail mary flex against the Titans.

NYG - RB Paul Perkins sitting out again

    Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants RB Paul Perkins (ribs) remains out of practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wayne Gallman will be the lead back here but against a tough Denver defense, with a poor offensive line and no wide receivers, we'd avoid anyone in the backfield right now.

ARI - RB Adrian Peterson coming out for third downs

Source: 98.7 Arizona - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson will not play on third downs, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson has never really been a good third down back and at his age, the reality he is a liability in pass protection. He's the lead back, so he'll get carries, but his age and the general limitations of his body at this stage in his career make him no more than a low-end RB3 against Tampa this weekend.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford will play, but he won't be as mobile against a Saints defense that was playing much better heading into their bye last week. It could be a rough week for Stafford in the Superdome.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski ready to play

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (thigh) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is very reassuring after Gronkowski was a late scratch last week. A questionable tag would have forced us to keep tabs on him up until game time on Sunday.

IND - Full practice for TE Jack Doyle

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13.

Doyle is on track to make a return on Monday night. He's a bye week/streamer level tight end option this week.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin listed as questionable

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin has just been on the fringe of what the heck flex level wide receiver plays, so there's no reason to force him into your lineup coming in with this injury even if he is active.

WAS - RB Rob Kelley doubtful for Week 6

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (ankle) did not practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 13, and is listed as doubtful for Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Taylor Gabriel will get the start and he has a high ceiling against a Miami secondary that is starting a rookie corner this week.

GB - RB Ty Montgomery could play limited role Week 6

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) has yet to be tackled to the ground in practice since suffering his broken ribs in Week 4, but he did take some contact to his ribs during a full contact practice Thursday, Oct. 12. The team doesn't believe the flak jacket and extra padding Montgomery will need to wear around his ribs presents a ball-security issue, but ESPN's Rob Demovsky believes the Packers will limit his snaps in the event he is cleared for Week 6 anyway.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Aaron Jones is still the back to play this week and with another strong performance he could relegate Montgomery to an RBBC.

KC - TE Travis Kelce practices fully again

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) was able practice fully for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 13.

Kelce is expected to play and should be in your lineups despite the late afternoon Sunday start.

NYJ - RB Bilal Powell remains sidelined

    Source: NJ.com - Darryl Slater

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) was unable to practice for a third straight day Friday, Oct. 13, and has been listed as questionable for Week 6 against the New England Patriots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't expect him to play, although if he's active, that will diminish the outlook for Elijah McGuire with Matt Forte likely back this week.

NYJ - RB Matt Forte likely to go Week 6

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Matt Forte (toe) is expected to return from a two-game absence and play in Week 6 versus the New England Patriots.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Forte is unlikely to take on a lead back role in this game, making rookie Elijah McGuire the best option to play in the Jets backfield in what should be a high-scoring game against the Patriots.

MIN - QB Sam Bradford ruled out Week 6

    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) will not play in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Case Keenum will get the start. We might see Teddy Bridgewater pilot this offense before we see Bradford again.

MIN - No practice Friday for WR Stefon Diggs

Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (groin) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 13, for the third straight day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Diggs has been ruled out. Adam Thielen could get more attention from Case Keenum and the Packers pass defense, which might free up one of Michael Floyd or Laquon Treadwell to have a breakout game. Kyle Rudolph and Jerick McKinnon are also candidates to get more targets, although the Vikings offense will be hurt by Diggs' absence in this key NFC North game.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker unlikely to go Week 6

    Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 6 versus the Atlanta Falcons after failing to practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kenny Stills could be a better sleeper play with Parker out, and Leonte Carroo should get on the field for three wide sets against the Falcons. It probably doesn't matter for fantasy unless Jay Cutler can do a 180 from his lackluster last three starts.

TB - RB Doug Martin ready for more work

Source: Florida Football Insiders - Roy Cummings

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin admitted to wearing down after logging 26 snaps in his season debut in Week 5 but feels as though he is ready to go wire-to-wire in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals if necessary.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This makes the Bucs decision to not establish the run with more authority defensible and perhaps takes a small edge off of Martin's upside against Arizona.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay sitting out

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett
Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay (hamstring) isn't participating in practice Friday, Oct. 13.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Golladay provided a vertical element and red zone presence before his injury. TJ Jones will get more snaps and Marvin Jones might get more red zone looks with Golladay unlikely to return this week against the Saints.

    Sunday Morning Injury Updates

    QUARTERBACK

*Marcus Mariota | Hamstring | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited | Sat - Limited

Mariota's Saturday practice participation and official game day status is still unknown. However, he's been able to do much more in practice this week and observers report his movement in drills is much better. The Titans have stopped short of saying Mariota will play but it looks like he's proven he'll be able to protect himself in the pocket this week. Whether Mariota will be able to manage a full playbook of run-pass option and rollouts remains to be seen but I expect him to be active Saturday night. I'll update after the Saturday practice participation and game status reports are released.

***Saturday Update: Mularkey told reporters "it might be a game-time decision" after the Titans listed Mariota questionable following Saturday's limited practice. The primary Tennessee beat writers -- Jim Wyatt and Cameron Wolfe -- both believe Mariota will play Monday night but be limited to a pocket passer. Nothing in today's team comments has dissuaded me from my earlier belief Mariota will play.

    Derek Carr
    | Back | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

Carr will play just two weeks removed from a fracture to a bone in his spine. The broken bone is a painful injury but not a structural injury. The primary concern -- as it was for Tony Romo and Cam Newton, who also missed just one game with the same injury -- is pain management and limiting the possibility of muscle spasm around the fractured bone. Carr recovered quickly and was reportedly close to being cleared to play last week. This week, he returned to a full practice and isn't on the game status report. It'll take some bad luck for a kevlar-protected Carr to be hit in the same place in the same way severely enough to cause recurrent spasms and an early exit. While there may be some early inaccuracy as Carr readjusts to the pace of live action, expect the Raiders to game plan as they did before Carr was injured.

    Matthew Stafford
    | Ankle | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

The Lions list Stafford questionable but he will play after a full week of practice. It's no surprise -- Stafford has played through finger, shoulder, and multiple lower leg soft tissue injuries throughout his career. Stafford did not leave the pocket as much after his ankle and hamstring injuries last week and may be less likely to scramble again this week. But don't expect many limitations in the game plan or accuracy.

*Jacoby Brissett | Wrist | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Thurs - Full | Fri - Full | Sat - Full

The Colts have yet to release Saturday's practice participation and game status report but Brissett has fully practiced through Friday and is expected to play without limitation.

***Saturday Update: Brissett again fully practiced on Saturday and is not listed on the Colts' game status report.

    Others of note: Tom Brady
(shoulder), Blake Bortles (wrist), and Josh McCown (shoulder) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Sam Bradford (knee) and Andrew Luck (shoulder) have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    RUNNING BACK

    Ty Montgomery | Ribs | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

I wrote Thursday night the Packers had cleared Montgomery for contact. Despite the team listing him as a full Thursday participant -- traditionally a padded practice with contact and images of Montgomery in uniform and not wearing a red non-contact jersey -- there were reports Montgomery had yet to take hits on Friday. Packers running backs coach Ben Sirmans told reporters Friday Montgomery was "moving around at least enough that it seems like he can play. But that's without taking any hits to make that call."

Montgomery is officially questionable. And it's absolutely questionable whether the Packers would clear a running back to play in a game without clearing him for contact first. If Montgomery is active, he'll see a limited role with Aaron Jones earning an expanded role after last week's strong performance. But don't be surprised if the Packers decide Montgomery needs to prove himself ready to take hits in practice before clearing him for the gameday roster.

***Sunday Update: Overnight reports from Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, and Tom Pelissero have a clear consensus. The Packers are preparing to rotate carries between Montgomery and Jones. It's very tough to handicap the distribution, however. I expect that will be dependent on how Montgomery feels, whether he takes a hard hit to the protected area, how effective Jones runs, and whether the Packers plan to use one more than the other in passing situations. Proceed with caution and consider both RB2 plays w/ upside.

    Bilal Powell
    | Calf | Questionable | Likely Inactive

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

Matt Forte | Toe | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

Todd Bowles told reporters Powell would work out Sunday and should be considered a game-time decision. There's no reason to believe Powell has a good chance to play, however, and he certainly has no chance for a significant role. Running backs struggle to play through calf injuries and Powell wasn't healthy enough to practice all week. He may make an appearance during pregame warmups but expect him to be inactive.

Forte said his toe injury has healed enough to allow him to cut at speed this week for the first time and he's confident in his ability to return. Even with Powell likely out, a healthy Forte may not be trusted to see a full workload. Elijah McGuire played a season-high 36 snaps last week. Though he wasn't effective against Cleveland's front seven, his performance against Jacksonville -- 12 effective touches on 19 snaps -- has earned him a rotational role, especially on passing downs. Reliably projecting a game script this week is difficult but it's unlikely Forte will see 50+ snaps or 15+ touches.

    Others of note: Jay Ajayi
(knee), Leonard Fournette (ankle/shoulder), Chris Ivory (hip), and D'Onta Foreman (hip) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Terrance West (calf) and Paul Perkins (ribs) have been declared out, with Rob Kelley (ankle) doubtful and likely inactive. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    WIDE RECEIVER

Julio Jones | Hip | Not Listed | Expected to Play

    Practice Participation: Wed - Limited |Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Jones is not listed on the Falcons' game status report and will play. He specifically told reporters on Thursday to ignore the practice participation report, saying the team had a plan to limit his reps during the week and he was "ready to go" this week. Usually, when Jones either returns to a full Friday practice or is not listed on the game status report, the Falcons have used Jones in his usual role. What's always difficult to project is whether Jones will suffer an aggravation of a minor soft tissue injury or a compensatory injury. This week is no different, unfortunately. If Jones avoids both scenarios, he has a chance to reach a ceiling expectation of 10+ targets and a big statistical day.

    Jordy Nelson
    | Back | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Full | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

There was no video evidence of a significant injury to Nelson last week. While concerning Nelson wasn't on the field for the deciding drive late in the fourth quarter, he was able to return to a full week of practice and told reporters on Wednesday he was fine. The practice participation line supports his assertion and the Packers did not list Nelson on the game status report. Other players have had spasm associated with back injuries recur at inopportune times so Nelson isn't completely certain of a full workload this week. But it's reasonable to expect him to see his usual workload with only a slim risk of an in-game setback.

    Tyreek Hill
    | Hamstring | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Not Listed | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Hill was added to the practice participation report on Thursday with a hamstring injury. He went to the locker room with what was reported as cramps on Sunday night but showed no limitation after he returned. The Chiefs allowed Hill to return to a limited Friday practice and didn't list him on the game status report. Hamstring strains of any kind in a player whose greatest asset is top end speed should make you nervous. But all indications suggest Hill's current injury is minor.

    DeVante Parker
    | Ankle | Doubtful | Likely Inactive

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

Video didn't show an obvious mechanism of injury as Parker's right foot was tangled with a defender's foot on a shallow drag route last week. After trying to loosen up on the sideline multiple times, Parker was not able to return. Low ankle sprains are generally easy to see on video and rarely result in a missed week of practice. The Dolphins weren't optimistic on Parker's status on Wednesday and have listed him doubtful. It's a formality -- Parker will be inactive on Sunday. The more pressing question is whether Parker is dealing with a high ankle sprain that will limit him in future weeks. Miami's post-game and early week press conferences will provide more information.

    Jeremy Maclin
    | Hand | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

There's been little information from Baltimore on Maclin's injury. He was able to return and finish last week and there are no reports of a fractured bone. I expect Maclin to play but will watch the Sunday morning media notes for any developments.

    Willie Snead
    | Hamstring | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Snead was inactive in Week 4 after he returned to practice not yet fully recovered from a preseason hamstring injury. This week, Snead told reporters he was "definitely ready" to return but acknowledged he hasn't earned a full-time role in the New Orleans offense. Expect Snead to be active but he's unlikely to see a significant role yet.

    Mike Williams
    | Back | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Williams will return this week after a protracted recovery from a herniated disc that required multiple steroid injections this offseason. Williams has spent three weeks working on conditioning before earning clearance for contact this week. The Chargers are unlikely to use him extensively but Williams should see time in multiple receiver packages and around the red zone. If he responds positively and effectively, the playbook may open up for him in future weeks.

    Kenny Britt
    | Knee / Groin | Questionable | Game-time Decision

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

The Browns are hopeful Britt can play this week after his groin strain began bothering him again on Thursday. The return to a limited Friday workout is a good sign. However, the team may choose not to risk a longer term aggravation of the injury and Hue Jackson told reporters Britt would have to be fully recovered to be active. Consider him a game-time decision but likely inactive.

    Others of note:
Amari Cooper (knee), John Brown (quad), J.J. Nelson (hamstring), Marqise Lee (ribs), and Josh Doctson (shoulder) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Stefon Diggs (groin), Sterling Shepard (ankle), Mohamed Sanu (hamstring), and Markus Wheaton (groin) have been declared out. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    TIGHT END

Rob Gronkowski | Thigh | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

The Patriots game status report was a welcome sight this week. Ordinarily, New England lists 5-10 players as limited throughout the week and questionable on Friday's game status report. This week, Bill Belichick allowed nearly everyone to be listed as a full practice participant and didn't list any of the potential questionables on the game status report. There wasn't much concern for Gronkowski's availability this week but the full Friday practice leaves no doubt he'll be active this week. It also provides reassurance about his likely return to a pre-injury workload.

    Travis Kelce
    | Concussion | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

The Chiefs fooled me earlier this week. I cannot recall another player who didn't practice on Wednesday with a concussion who was cleared to play by Friday. Most likely, Kelce was asked to do a significant amount of exercise on Wednesday -- but not in any practice-related capacity. When he was cleared to practice in pads on Thursday then again listed as a full Friday participant, it was clear that Wednesday's practice line was of little concern. Kelce was not listed on the Chiefs' game status report and will play.

    Others of note
: George Kittle (chest) and Jack Doyle (concussion/neck) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. I'll update return to play expectations on all inactive players in Monday's column.

    DEFENSIVE PLAYER NOTES

    EDGE:

Vic Beasley will return to Atlanta's front seven. He's admitted he's not fully healthy and is likely to play a situational role only. If he avoids a setback, he should be ready to assume his pre-injury role soon.

Jadeveon Clowney and Justin Houston both managed only a limited Friday practice this week but were not listed on their team's game status report and will play.

Olivier Vernon has again been declared out. With the Giants' Week 8 bye looming, he may also take next week off to rest.
    DEFENSIVE LINE:

Muhammad Wilkerson is a game-time decision at best after adding a toe injury to his already-limiting shoulder injury.
    LINEBACKER:

The Bears continue to struggle to find healthy linebackers. John Timu is out multiple weeks with a high ankle injury. Nick Kwiatkoski is practicing but likely not ready to return yet.

Benardrick McKinney did not practice much this week but expects to play. Mark Barron is also questionable with minimal practice but there's been no update on his status.

Reuben Foster has been campaigning to play all week but the 49ers would not commit to activating him this week -- even after NaVorro Bowman was released.

Lavonte David returns for Tampa Bay but Kwon Alexander is out after another week of conditioning.
    DEFENSIVE BACK:

Landon Collins has been adamant all week he'll play. But he's not practiced and the Giants' inactive list may not be informative. New York has already declared six players out and doesn't have much room on the list. It's possible Collins could be on the active gameday roster and play very little. More on Sunday morning here.

T.J. Ward is expected to return for Tampa Bay. Keith Tandy has been declared out.

Eric Reid was limited all week but it's not clear whether the 49ers will activate him. Consider him a game-time decision with a lean toward the inactive list.

Morgan Burnett is out for Green Bay. In past years, Burnett's soft tissue injuries tend to keep him out multiple weeks.

    Sunday Update

OAK - QB Derek Carr to start Week 6

    Source: NFL.com - Conor Orr

Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (back) will start Week 6's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Carr is back after suffering this injury against the Broncos in Week 4. The initial prognosis was 2-6 weeks of recovery and obviously Carr is on the short side of that. Fantasy owners should look at him as a QB2 in Week 6.

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) fully participated in practice Saturday, Oct. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doyle suffered a concussion against the Seahawks in Week 4 and has been out of action since then. It looks like he'll return this week for the Monday night game against the Titans. Fantasy owners should consider Doyle a TE2 in Week 6.

NE - RB Rex Burkhead to miss another game

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (ribs) has been ruled out of the team's Week 6 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead hasn't played since the team's Week 2 game against the Saints. With him out of action again, it could lead to more touches for guys like Dion Lewis and James White.

TEN - QB Marcus Mariota listed as questionable

    Source: TitansOnline.com

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (hamstring) was limited during practice Saturday, Oct. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mariota has been trending the right direction all week. Fantasy owners that are considering Mariota as a possible starter in Week 6 should see him as a QB2 if he plays on Monday night against the Colts. You likely have a better option than Mariota in his first game back since missing Week 5.

DET - Big game on tap for QB Matthew Stafford?

Source: The Detroit News - James Hawkins

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 6, and in his last two meetings with the Saints, he has completed 52 of his 67 passes for 595 yards and five touchdowns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stafford is a bit banged up right now, but we could see him putting up QB1 numbers for fantasy owners in Week 6.

IND - WR Donte Moncrief's future uncertain

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts WR Donte Moncrief said he'd like to remain with the team next season but isn't worried about his impending free agency.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moncrief has been disappointing as a fantasy player in 2017, but he should produce at a better rate when QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) returns. He's a WR5 against the Titans on Monday night.

SEA - J.D. McKissic praised by QB, coach

Source: Seahawks Wire - Andrew Carlin

Seattle Seahawks RB J.D. McKissic has shown 'nothing but good stuff,' according to head coach Pete Carroll, and QB Russell Wilson praised McKissic's running ability. 'He is as fast as lightning,' Wilson said. 'He is physical, doesn't mind hitting you, can catch the ball, can do a lot of things, and is smart.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McKissic could continue as the team's change-of-pace back coming out of their Week 6 bye. Watch the health status of C.J. Prosise as he's McKissic's main competition for that role. We're still rostering McKissic in deep leagues even though he frustrated fantasy owners in Week 5 after his 2-TD performance in Week 4.

DAL - RB Darren McFadden the lead back?

    Source: DallasCowboys.com - Bryan Broaddus

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden is the likely starter if RB Ezekiel Elliott begins serving his suspension, according to Bryan Broaddus of DallasCowboys.com.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
That's the feeling around most Cowboys reporters is that McFadden has been 'saved up' for this possibility. Fantasy owners who can add McFadden should do so via the waiver wire and anticipate that he could post RB2 or at least flex-worthy numbers in the lead role for the Cowboys. We still see Morris getting work too. Bottom line, this looks like a murky RB situation to us.

Imagine the numbers Fournette would be putting up if he wasn't always facing an 8 men in box.

Saints | Michael Thomas held in check Sun Oct 15, 09:04 PM New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas posted three catches for 11 yards on six targets in the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions.

Footballguys view: Chalk this one up to Darius Slay, who is one of the more unheralded shutdown corners in the NFL. Thomas should have a better time of it and stay in our lineups against the Packers next week.

Saints | Ted Ginn totals 69 yards, TD Sun Oct 15, 09:02 PM New Orleans Saints WR Ted Ginn Jr. hauled in four receptions for a team-high 66 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions and he added a three-yard rush.

Footballguys view: Ginn was the best matchup against the Lions secondary with Darius Slay often taking away Michael Thomas. The return of Terron Armstead at left tackle should also help this offensive line create more time for deep passing. Ginn is a good what the heck flex against the Packers depleted secondary next week.

Saints | Alvin Kamara post 87 total yards Sun Oct 15, 09:02 PM

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara rushed 10 times for 75 yards in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions and he added four grabs for 12 yards on four targets.

Footballguys view: Kamara was explosive and showing that he deserves to be larger part of the offense going forward. He'll be a high ceiling PPR flex going forward with an even higher injury ceiling if Mark Ingram goes down.

Saints | Mark Ingram finishes with big game Sun Oct 15, 09:01 PM

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 25 times for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions and he added five receptions for 36 yards on five targets.

Footballguys view: The Saints had a huge lead in this one, allowing Ingram get a ton of carries and also rewarding him with goal line opportunities. His fantasy scoring was mediocre through four games, but this game reminded us of his high weekly ceiling as the lead back in a high-powered offense.

Saints | Drew Brees tosses two touchdowns Sun Oct 15, 08:57 PM

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees completed 21 of his 31 pass attempts for 186 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions.

Footballguys view: Brees was quiet for fantasy and not very sharp in the second half as his team was nursing a huge lead. He didn't get much help from Michael Thomas, who was shut down by Darius Slay. The Saints do get the depleted Packers secondary next week, keeping Brees well within the QB1 ranks.

Buccaneers | X-rays negative for Jameis Winston Sun Oct 15, 07:58 PM Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston (shoulder) plans to play in Week 7 against the Buffalo Bills after leaving the game Sunday, Oct. 15, due to a right shoulder injury.

Footballguys view: The Bills pass defense has been a tough one to crack, so it's not a must play matchup. Winston's x-rays came back negative, but he still has an MRI tomorrow. Ryan Fitzpatrick would start if he can't go next week.
    Jameis Winston player page

Lions | Golden Tate posts 96 yards, TD Sun Oct 15, 07:54 PM Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate racked up seven receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Footballguys view: We might not find out much about his shoulder injury during the bye. He was underachieving for fantasy and actually had his score when the game wasn't out of hand yet, so not all of his good game happened because of garbage time.

Lions | Marvin Jones returns to end zone Sun Oct 15, 07:53 PM

Detroit Lions WR Marvin Jones racked up six receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints.

Footballguys view: Jones had his best game of the year in this garbage time inflated game for the Lions pass offense. He could get more targets if Golden Tate's shoulder injury keeps him out after the team's bye this week.

Lions | Matthew Stafford tosses three TDs Sun Oct 15, 07:52 PM

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 25 of his 52 pass attempts for 312 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints and he lost a pair of fumbles.

Footballguys view: Stafford only had a good fantasy day because the Lions fell behind by a huge margin and the Saints defense let up for a good part of the second half. The Lions offense is still struggling to have consistent success entering their bye.

Vikings | Adam Thielen leads way in Week 6 Sun Oct 15, 07:20 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen racked up nine receptions for 97 yards on 13 targets in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers.

Footballguys view: Thielen was still the apple of Case Keenum's eye even though Stefon Diggs was out. He has been a high floor WR2/WR3 option for us this year and should remain one despite a tougher matchup against the Ravens.

Vikings | Latavius Murray goes nowhere fast Sun Oct 15, 07:20 PM

Vikings | Jerick McKinnon visits end zone Sun Oct 15, 07:18 PM

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 16 times for 69 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers and he added five receptions for 30 yards and a score.

Footballguys view: McKinnon split the carries almost down the middle with Latavius Murray, but he was the much better receiver and better goal line back. He should remain a borderline RB1 in PPR leagues against the Ravens next week.

Vikings | Case Keenum throws for 239 yards, TD Sun Oct 15, 07:17 PM

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 24 of his 38 pass attempts for 239 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Footballguys view: Keenum kept the lapses to minimum and managed the offense well without Stefon Diggs. He could face a challenge to his starting job from Teddy Bridgewater as the Vikings have newfound life in the NFC North.

Packers | Davante Adams posts TD in loss Sun Oct 15, 06:59 PM Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams posted five receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Footballguys view: Adams was covered by Xavier Rhodes for a lot of snaps, but still got a score on an extended play from Brett Hundley. His value still took a big blow with the loss of Aaron Rodgers.

    Davante Adams player page

Packers | Jordy Nelson posts six receptions Sun Oct 15, 06:58 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson hauled in six receptions for 60 yards on 10 targets in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Footballguys view: Nelson salvaged okay numbers in this one, but he's not a deep ball receiver any more, and the Packers offense won't set up the copious red zone opportunities that had fueled his fantasy value last year and through Week 6. He's just a middling WR2/WR3 against the Saints next week.
    Link to story

Texans | Ryan Griffin posts 52 yards Sun Oct 15, 05:46 PM Houston Texans TE Ryan Griffin hauled in three receptions for 52 yards on a game-high eight targets in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.

Footballguys view: The Browns matchup vs. tight ends still gave up a lot of yards and a two-point conversion, but it was split between Griffin and Stephen Anderson. Delanie Walker should be great against them next week.
    Link to story
    Ryan Griffin player page

Texans | Will Fuller shines again in victory Sun Oct 15, 05:45 PM Houston Texans WR Will Fuller posted two grabs for a game-high 62 yards and a touchdown on five targets in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.

Footballguys view: Fuller now has five scores in three games. He'll be back in our lineups in Week 8 after a bye next week, as Deshaun Watson has every reason to keep targeting Fuller deep. The margin of error is small with Fuller not getting a ton of targets, but until he cools off, he deserves a lineup spot.

Texans | DeShaun Watson tosses three more TDs Sun Oct 15, 05:44 PM Houston Texans QB DeShaun Watson completed 17 of his 29 pass attempts for 225 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. He also rushed six times for 23 yards.

Footballguys view: One of Watson's touchdown passes went about six inches in the air, so that makes up for this matchup not forcing Watson to open up the passing game because the Browns weren't in the game for most of it. Watson is a strong QB1 heading into the bye.

Bears | Tarik Cohen has decent outing Sun Oct 15, 05:39 PM Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen rushed for 32 yards on 14 carries against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6. He also caught one pass for 14 yards and also threw a 21-yard touchdown pass during the game.

Footballguys view: Cohen got more work because the Bears went so run heavy in this game, but they still aren't going back to him in the passing game the way they did earlier in the year. He's just a bench stash as you can't expect a passing touchdown from him every week.
    Tarik Cohen player page

Bears | Jordan Howard rushes for 167 yards Sun Oct 15, 05:33 PM

Chicago Bears RB Jordan Howard rushed for 167 yards on 36 carries against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.

Footballguys view: Howard is clearly going to get as much work as he can handle as long as the Bears are still in games and maybe even when they aren't. He'll have a tough matchup against Carolina next week, but it's difficult to bench him with the Bears run-heavy approach.
    Link to story

Jets | Josh McCown throws for 354 yards Sun Oct 15, 04:58 PM
New York Jets QB Josh McCown went 31-for-47 for 354 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions against the New England Patriots in Week 6.

Footballguys view: McCown kept the season-long string of quarterbacks going over 300 yards against the Patriots going (next week it's Matt Ryan). He was able to spread the ball around and the Jets did not lose because he wasn't up to the task, although there were a few throws he might want back. Next week against Miami he's more of a second tier streamer than the preferred option he was today.
