NFL Player News - Week of 7/3/17

PIT - Le'Veon Bell 'good with everything' during contract negotiations

    Source: Jeremy Fowler - ESPN.com

Jeremy Fowler, from ESPN.com, reports Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell is not sweating contract negotiations. "I'm good with everything, just taking it day to day for real," Bell told ESPN about how he is approaching the process.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell is currently slated to play under the franchise tag in 2017. That tag will pay him a one-year deal worth over $12 million this year. Like all franchise-tagged players, Bell wants long-term security instead. The Steelers and Bell have until July 17th to work out such a contract. If/when signed, Bell should be the highest paid running back in the NFL.

HOU - QB Tom Savage in line to start?

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage is ahead of QB Deshaun Watson in 'how he functions with the offense' heading into training camp, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Make sure to understand this is standard July coachspeak. This kind of talk is to be expected as Savage is a veteran with limited starting experience while Watson is a rookie. However, Savage is not an exciting option as a starter and we think Watson wins the job eventually even if he begins the regular season as a backup.

MIA - QB Ryan Tannehill says knee is a non-issue

Source: Barry Jackson - Miami Herald

Barry Jackson, from the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is going to wear a brace this year but his knee is a non-issue. "One hundred percent," he said. "We've been running our full gamut of run plays, and that includes zone read, play action, inside zone, outside zone power, we really have it all."

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
A severe knee sprain in Week 14 against the Cardinals last year knocked Tannehill out for the rest of the season. He didn't have surgery and he's fully recovered according to multiple reports. Earlier reports this year said Tannehill would be more of a pocket passer moving forward. With a full season and a better grasp of the offense in year two under Adam Gase, it wouldn't be a shock to see him Tannehill finish as a top-15 fantasy quarterback. He's getting drafted at QB22 late in 12-team PPR leagues at this time.

TB - QB Jameis Winston pumped to have O.J Howard

    Source: NFL.com - Max Meyer

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston said TE O.J. Howard is going to do 'amazing' things for the offense. 'This is the fastest, most athletic 6-6, 255 guy I've ever seen in my life,' Winston said Saturday, July 1. 'It's unreal.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We're pumped to see how it works out for the Bucs this year. It will be a headache for fantasy owners when considering TE Cameron Brate. A breakout player in 2016 (TE6 in standard leagues), Brate will see his numbers negatively impacted with the addition of Howard and WR DeSean Jackson. The Bucs are going to have a high-powered passing attack, but they may use a TEBC - which will likely come with a level of frustration for fantasy owners.

CLE - DeShone Kizer noticeably improved in spring

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer made the 'biggest leap' of all the team's quarterbacks during off-season practices, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. Kizer has a better deep ball and his accuracy and touch have improved under head coach Hue Jackson and quarterbacks coach David Lee, according to Cabot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kizer is the quarterback of the future, and the Browns are trying to give him the Dak Prescott treatment. The Browns have built a strong offensive line in front of Kizer, and now it's up to him to see if he can beat out Cody Kessler and Brock Osweiler for the starting job. Kizer is big, mobile and has a strong arm -- think of him like a poor man's version of Daunte Culpepper. We'll see if the Notre Dame rookie can get his roll on in training camp.

CIN - WR A.J. Green focused on winning

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he wouldn't mind seeing fewer targets this season if it means the other receivers are contributing and the team is winning.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners are focused on winning when they add Green in drafts. Green is going off the board at WR5 (1.10) in 12-team PPR leagues. It's fair to project him for 90-plus catches in the Bengals offense this year. The other receivers have been upgraded (hello John Ross!) but Green is still the main weapon in this offense.

NFL - RB Matt Jones hires new agent

    Source: Drew Rosenhaus on Twitter

Washington running back Matt Jones has signed Drew Rosenhaus as his agent.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's likely Rosenhaus will help Jones secure his release from Washington. Too bad the superstar agent can't help Jones hang onto the rock. The starter to begin 2016, Jones fumbled the job away and only appeared in seven games last year. Jones is big (6'2" 231 pounds) but runs like a finesse back. He'll have a new home at or near the start of training camp.

DEN - Chad Kelly to throw in a couple weeks

    Source: NFL.com - Max Meyer

Denver Broncos QB Chad Kelly (wrist) said Friday, June 30, that he expects to start throwing in a couple weeks with the goal of being ready by training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelly is a fine developmental prospect for the Broncos, and he was head coach Vance Joseph's favorite quarterback in the 2017 NFL draft. This 'Mr. Irrelevant' is far from that, and for fantasy owners he's well worth rostering in dynasty leagues. Kelly is unlikely to do much this year as Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian compete for the starting job in 2017. Next year, Kelly could have a chance to win the job if neither Lynch or Siemian impresses this season.

    Wednesday Update

DAL - ESPN Reporter Adam Schefter Would Be 'Hesitant' Drafting Ezekiel Elliott

Source: Sirius XM - Adam Caplan & John Hansen / Philly Voice - Jimmy Kempski

Philly Voice reported an appearance by ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sirius XM Radio with Adam Caplan and John Hansen. Schefter was asked about the domestic abuse case allegedly involving Elliott that the NFL has been investigating for almost a year.

Schefter said, "I would just say this. It is definitely a factor, and if I were drafting today, I would be hesitant to (draft him). But this is a situation that has gone back and forth so many times. I've spoken to some people within the league who, during the course of the offseason, got a sense that some form of discipline could happen.

"And then I spoke to somebody last week and they're like, 'Yeah, I don't think anything is going to happen here.' And then a decision that many people thought would come before the start of the the July 4th weekend on Friday when the NFL usually makes a lot of decisions, hands down some news, I was told that was being pushed back.

"Now why is that being pushed back? Was it being pushed back, actually? Maybe it wasn't even. But I was told there wasn't going to be an answer here for a little while, that there was more information. There have been more meetings between either Zeke's people and the league, or the NFLPA and the league, or whoever. It's just been an ongoing issue that has had no conclusion. And so, if you're drafting today, it's hard to say, 'Well, nothing's going to happen there.'

"Nothing may well happen there, but something could happen there. We just don't know right now. It's just sort of out there."

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Yes, it's a Philadelphia site that loves anything negative regarding the Cowboys. But that's not relevant. What's important is Adam Schefter's take. Schefter is absolutely unbiased and one of the most reputable sources in the league. When he says he's hesitant, one would be wise to listen. We've all seen great players like Le'Veon Bell and Tom Brady miss time and return with great success. But missing games is not insignificant. Stay tuned.

PIT - WR Antonio Brown on hot streak

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown is the third wide receiver in NFL history to amass at least 400 catches, 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in years four through seven of a professional career. Former WRs Herman Moore and Marvin Harrison are the other two receivers to accomplish the feat.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

And it's pretty clear Brown is better than ether receiver, so the sky is the limit for him. Even though his yardage was 'down' - for him - last season, he remains one of the most potent receivers in the NFL. With Ben Roethlisberger back to 100 percent, Brown should be back up above 1,500 yards while keeping the double digit touchdown totals we see from him every year. You'll need to pay a premium to get him though as he's going as the first receiver off the board in early drafts and the price won't go down any time soon.

NE - RB Mike Gillislee in prominent running role?

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss
New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee is the most likely back to fill the void left by RB LeGarrette Blount's departure, in the opinion of beat writer Mike Reiss.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
He still has a lot of competition in a backfield which has never been known for consistency in distribution of carries. He is a bit more versatile than Blount was but is two inches shorter and 33 pounds lighter. He isn't quite the aggressive runner Blount is either. That said, he'll get a lot of carries on early downs. That may not be as good a thing as we think it will be. Gillislee had a 5.7 yards per carry in 2016, but that was on 101 runs. Blount carried the ball 299 times. Can Gillislee carry that big a load? Keep that in mind when looking at his current ADP of 79 overall and ranking as 28th back coming off the board.

    Thursday Update

NFL - RB DeAngelo Williams still wants to play

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams (Steelers) said he's waiting on a phone call from an interested team to continue his playing career.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Once someone gets hurt, he may hear his phone ring, but unless he drops into a perfect situation - which he had to an extent from a fantasy standpoint when he backed up a suspended Le'Veon Bell - his fantasy value will be a bit shaky. Age and ability are also a concern.

PIT - JuJu Smith-Schuster wants chemistry with QB

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Joe Rutter

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster said he is looking forward to building better chemistry with QB Ben Roethlisberger during training camp. He did receive some work with the first-team offense as a slot receiver during offseason workouts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If he and Roethlisberger can get on the same page, we could see a lot of red zone work for Smith-Schuster. The Steelers still have Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell for red zone work, but could use another weapon now that Heath Miller is finally gone. Tight end Jesse James might emerge as another weapon, but Smith-Schuster is big, athletic and aggressive. We'll watch camp closely, as the former USC Trojan is currently holding a bargain basement ADP of 258 overall and 76 among wide receivers. He could have some decent value at a nice price if he can develop chemistry with his quarterback.

    TEN - Taywan Taylor shining

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Taywan Taylor looks like a perfect fit for the slot receiver, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt. Taylor has already gained the trust of the quarterbacks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He could run into some issues with all the potential talent suddenly at the Tennessee wideout position. With Corey Davis and now Eric Decker, Taylor may struggle to see targets. However if he can continue to show the quarterbacks can rely on him, we might see him emerge later in the season.

    TEN - Corey Davis explosive

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis has looked explosive with strong hands, according to beat writer Jim Wyatt.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good to hear about a guy who had ankle surgery to repair tendons in the offseason. When healthy he has very good route skills and physicality, as well as a high football IQ and work ethic. His ADP is currently sitting at 96 overall in early drafts and could climb as we hit training camp.

WAS - Samaje Perine may be limited early

Source: CSN Mid-Atlantic - Rich Tandler

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine could receive limited touches during the early portion of the season but has the chance to lead the team in carries during some games in November and December, in the opinion of CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's going to have to carve out carries from the load Rob Kelley and Chris Thompson get. Kelley is the one we favor, though we still don't love him as more than an occasional start or bench depth. His ADP is currently 102, the 37th back off the board, while Chris Thompson, who serves as more of a third down back, is the 197th player overall in ADP, and the No. 63 running back off the board.

NFL - WR Dorial Green-Beckham unclaimed

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent WR Dorial Green-Beckham (Eagles) cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Green-Beckham has the skill but has not been able to put the rest of it together. Even if someone gives him another chance, he probably won't walk into a situation where he is able to contribute right away. Now that he has busted out in OTAs with what is being reported as a lazy and near-effortless performance. We think it's safe to write him off as a bust.

WAS - Two RBs may be on bubble

Source: CSN Mid-Atlantic - Rich Tandler

Washington RBs Mack Brown and Keith Marshall may be on the roster bubble during training camp, in the opinion of CSN Mid-Atlantic's Rich Tandler. Brown could make the roster as the No. 4 running back if Washington decides to keep three tight ends.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With rookie Samaje Perine along with Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson and even Matt Jones, there's very little room left for either Brown or Marshall. Even if one of them sneaks on the roster, he won't have fantasy value.

    Friday Update

TB - WR Mike Evans not expected to have big spike

Source: Florida Football Insiders - Roy Cummings

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans isn't expected to make a big jump in numbers with the addition of WR DeSean Jackson. 'I'm not sure (how much better he can get) from a numbers standpoint, but Mike's confidence is at an all-time high right now,'' head coach Dirk Koetter said. 'And I think with Mike, like with a lot of our guys, the main goal is to win, not create stats. The goal is to win games.''

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Even if he doesn't 'get better' he's still one of the best NFL receivers out there right now. We also wonder how much DeSean Jackson really has in the tank. At this point in his career, Jackson is a strict one trick pony - fast and straight - and it's not a trick which should limit Evans much. Evans will continue to be a guy going in the first round of most fantasy leagues as he is in early drafts right now. We expect good production even if it's not a huge leap over last year.

PIT - RB DeAngelo Williams open to PIT return

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams (Steelers) said he is open to re-signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams will happily go where he gets an offer, maybe even back for another pro wrestling engagement in the squared circle (where he was excellent, by the way). When not wrestling, Williams still looks like a guy who has a little left in the tank. However, whether with the Steelers or elsewhere, his fantasy impact will probably be low. He's a backup, and that means more than anything his value would be as a handcuff.

DET - TE Darren Fells could be used more

    Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Detroit Lions TE Darren Fells could be utilized more in two tight-end sets and see his targets increase in 2017. Fells could be utilized as a blocker more after the injury to OT Taylor Decker (shoulder) as well.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Not only will he see more time as a blocker, he'll still be behind Eric Ebron as the chief tight end receiving option. So we aren't expecting much from him in terms of fantasy point production. The Lions selected another tight end during the 2017 NFL Draft, a beast by the name of Mike Roberts. Roberts was a machine in the end zone during college, but we don't expect a ton from a rookie tight end. Ebron is still your choice, and he's a potential top ten tight end who is going off the board as the 14th tight end in early drafts.

TEN - WR Tajae Sharpe to be ready for training camp

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe (foot) should be ready for training camp, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sharpe was a starter during a portion of last season, but the Titans have a lot of other options so nothing is guaranteed. As anyone in the NFL can tell you the most important ability is availability, so he cannot afford to miss camp. Even if he makes the roster, we're not excited by his prospects. With rookies Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor, newly arrived veteran Eric Decker as well as Rishard Matthews, there are just too many bodies to climb over.

    Saturday Update

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin the go-to option?

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin has averaged 67 catches, 913 receiving yards and six touchdowns over his seven NFL seasons, and since 2010, only one Baltimore receiver has reached all those marks in a single season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin could lead the team in targets, but the values of he, Mike Wallace, and Breshad Perriman are similar in drafts. Maclin has the highest floor, Perriman has the highest ceiling, and Wallace has the best track record with Joe Flacco. At least one should outperform ADP in the high volume pass offense.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart to remain a factor?

    Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart's role will remain unchanged according to head coach Ron Rivera and running backs coach Jim Skipper.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stewart was able to turn his typical workload into a boom/bust weekly profile last year, with some RB1 weeks and some on the fringe of flex range. Christian McCaffery may not cut into Stewart's workload in games that the Panthers control, but Stewart is still more likely to be marginalized in high-scoring games or games where the Panthers are playing from behind.

NYG - WR Brandon Marshall putting in extra work

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Brandon Marshall has regularly used FaceTime to review plays and signals with QB Eli Manning in the six weeks players have off between minicamp and the start of training camp on July 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy football players used to avoid receivers in the first year on their new team because of chemistry issues among other things, but smart quarterbacks and wideouts have devised ways to speed up the acclimation process. Marshall could be a huge value at his current price if he approaches his production with Jets when he had a competent quarterback.

BAL - TE Gary Barnidge hasn't received Ravens call

    Source: NFL.com - Tyler Horka

Free-agent TE Gary Barnidge (Browns) said the Baltimore Ravens haven't called him yet.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens have lost Dennis Pitta to injury and Darren Waller to suspension. Ben Watson is coming back from an achilles tear, Crockett Gillmore is coming back from two surgeries and Maxx Williams is recovering from a rare knee surgery. The team needs help at tight end, but it doesn't seem like Barnidge is in their plans. They could change those plans when they get a better idea of where their remaining tight ends are at.

OAK - RB DeAndre Washington more confident

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders RB DeAndre Washington said he is a lot more comfortable than he was this time last year, and he is hoping to take the next step and be more consistent.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington had the better draft pedigree, but didn't really come on until the end of the season. He would be in a committee with Jalen Richard if Marshawn Lynch falters, but just as he did last year, Washington can still get 5-8 touches a game if Lynch holds down the starting job.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald effective from slot

    Source: ProFootballFocus.com - Cam Mellor

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald finished tied for second in the NFL last season with 63 catches from the slot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzgerald is set up for another high reception, low yards per catch season with the Cardinals featuring speedy deep threats elsewhere at wide receiver. He's a value in PPR leagues at his current ADP.

LAC - Tyrell Williams in select company in '16

Source: The Oregonian - Geoffrey C. Arnold

Los Angeles Chargers WR Tyrell Williams was one of eight wide receivers in the NFL last year with at least 19 catches of 20 yards or more. The other seven were New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr., Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown, Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper and Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams was playing through a shoulder injury for the last third of the season, too. The return of Keenan Allen should cut into his opportunity, but fantasy drafters have overreacted to this additional factor, often allowing Williams to fall into the double digits.

CIN - WR Brandon LaFell likely will make team

    Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell likely will make the 53-man roster this season because it would leave at least $3 million of dead money on the salary cap if he was released, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Katherine Terrell. The Bengals also like that LaFell has a mentor-like relationship with WR A.J. Green.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

LaFell was surprisingly productive both with and without Green in the lineup last year, but he is likely taking a back seat to first-round pick John Ross sooner than later. He'll be on our waiver wire watch list, especially if Ross is slow to get up to speed after offseason shoulder surgery.

ARI - JJ Nelson working to improve

Source: 98.7 Arizona - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson spent to offseason working on his route running.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nelson is going to vie with Jaron Brown for snaps as the #3 receiver. His deep speed gives his best ball appeal even as a 3A, but if John Brown struggles to stay healthy again this year, Nelson will have value in typical redraft leagues.

CAR - RB Fozzy Whittaker lost in the shuffle?

Carolina Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker will likely provide depth but could have trouble seeing touches as long as RB Christian McCaffrey is healthy, according to Max Henson of Panthers.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Whittaker was the team's best receiving back in previous years, but now he is contending with one of the best receiving backs in the league. He'll be injury depth if he makes the team.

    Sunday Update

BAL - RB Terrance West the Week 1 starter?

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink

Baltimore Ravens RB Terrance West is projected to be the starter in Week 1, according to Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com, with RB Danny Woodhead seeing some carries but being used mainly in the passing game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

West has RB2 value for the first four weeks while Kenneth Dixon is suspended, but after Dixon returns this will turn into an ugly three-way committee. The Ravens backfield didn't support one consistent fantasy starter as a two-way committee last year, so the outlook isn't great for any of these backs. Woodhead in PPR leagues is best commodity because of the high target volume to running backs in this offense.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas hopes for quick QB decision

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he hopes the Broncos decide on a starting quarterback before their second preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. QB Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch will be competing for the job when training camp begins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Thomas is poised to improve his numbers regardless of who plays quarterback, but an early decision will make establishing chemistry in Mike McCoy's offense much easier. Expect more wide receiver screens and high percentage plays targeting Thomas, who is a lot healthier after playing through a debilitating hip injury.

BAL - RB Kenneth Dixon to have big role?

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com - Ryan Mink

Baltimore Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon could have a bigger role in the offense this year, according to Ryan Mink of BalitmoreRavens.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Dixon isn't coming into the year hurt, and he should be fresh after his four-game suspension to begin the season. He might not be the #1 runner between the tackles or the #1 running back target, but he is best all-around talent in this backfield.

ATL - WR Mohamed Sanu locked into No. 2 spot

Source: CBS Atlanta - John Fricke

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu solidified himself as the No. 2 receiver with his play last season, according to John Fricke of CBS Atlanta.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanu played through a shoulder injury last year and still produced four games over 15 fantasy points in PPR leagues while sharing with an emergent Taylor Gabriel. He's an excellent late round best ball pick and could have consistent value if Julio Jones misses any time this year.

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins hoping to stay

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins said he feels the city has embraced him and Houston feels like his hometown. 'I love being here,' Hopkins said. 'I love playing for this team, great organization.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopkins is going to be one of the highest paid receivers in NFL history once he gets his contract, but the Texans could also choose to franchise him to see if he produces like a #1 if he has a 2017 similar to his disappointing 2016. They need better quarterback play to properly evaluate his value.

CIN - RB Jeremy Hill to remain involved

    Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is 'going to get some carries' and will remain a factor near the goal line, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Hill may keep Joe Mixon from reaching everyweek fantasy starter status, but he probably won't have much standalone value unless Mixon gets hurt. Giovani Bernard will turn this into a three-way committee once he is recovered from ACL surgery.

CLE - WR Ricardo Louis continues to draw praise

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Dan Labbe

Cleveland Browns WR Ricardo Louis has 'really helped himself' and 'is a talented young man,' according to senior offensive assistant Al Saunders.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Browns wide receiver group is unsettled after Kenny Britt and Corey Coleman, so an opportunity is there for Louis and other youngsters like Jordan Payton and Rashard Higgins. This isn't a pass offense that can support three fantasy relevant wideouts, but Louis's top-end measureables and possible separation from his fellow 2016 third-day picks merits attention in deep dynasty leagues.

WAS - TE Vernon Davis still elusive

    Source: Pro Football Focus

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis forced 13 missed tackles last year, the most by any tight end, according to Pro Football Focus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If Jordan Reed misses time this year, Davis will be on our priority waiver wire list. He has had a surprising amount of good football left in him after a lackluster stint with the Broncos.

BAL - TE Crockett Gillmore eyeing training camp

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec
Baltimore Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore (shoulder, hamstring) is expected to be ready for training camp.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Gillmore has watched Dennis Pitta go down with an injury and Darren Waller go down with a suspension of at least one year. Ben Watson took a pay cut as he returns from an achilles injury. Gillmore has the pass-catching talent to be the top target at the position, but he also needs to stay healthy after two offseason surgeries and a pro career that has rarely seen him stay off of the injury report for long.
