NFL Player News - Week 17

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

CLE - RB Duke Johnson a silver lining

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson is fourth among running backs in catches (68) and receiving yards (618) with one game left to play this season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things have not gone well for the Browns this year. Offensively, the unit was marred by turnovers all season long. One bright spot was the play of Johnson, and fantasy owners have relied on him as a flex play in PPR leagues all year long.

KC - RB Kareem Hunt in rare company

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt is just the 10th running back in NFL history to achieve at least 1,000 rushing yards, 400 receiving yards and 10 total touchdowns in his first season. He's the first rookie running back to accomplish the feat since Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin in 2012.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hunt showed that he can play at a high level almost immediately this year. After his first career rush that ended in a fumble (for a player who never fumbled as a workhorse in college at Toledo), Hunt made big plays as a runner or receiver. The Chiefs have won the AFC West and in the playoffs they should do what they can to feature Hunt early and often.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch to play in Week 17

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) will receive playing time in Week 17, according to head coach Vance Joseph.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He'll play and he should start for the Broncos in their season finale against the Chiefs. Lynch has not earned the opportunity to start for the Broncos in two seasons. His work ethic and desire are in question, in addition to a couple of injuries (shoulder, ankle) that have prevented him from being full strength. Even if Lynch plays well in Week 17, we doubt he is an option for the Broncos to start in 2018. Expect the team to make a strong move for a quarterback (either through the draft or free agency) this offseason.

NE - RB Dion Lewis receives a lot of snaps

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis played a season-high 51 snaps against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15. His previous season high was 33 snaps.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Without Rex Burkhead in the lineup we saw Lewis get a much larger role. That should continue in the season finale in Week 17. Reports indicate Burkhead should be ready to return from his knee injury in the playoffs. The Patriots have a first-round bye, so he's got a couple more weeks to rest.

NE - WR Kenny Britt may be odd man out

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots WR Kenny Britt likely will be benched when WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) is ready to play again, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Britt was added in December after he was waived by the Browns to give the team veteran depth. When Hogan is ready, Britt is unlikely to get a jersey on gameday.

WAS - QB Kirk Cousins makes franchise history

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins became the first quarterback in Redskins' history with three seasons of at least 25 touchdown passes.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

All that and Cousins has not been worth locking up with a long-term contract. Washington has placed the franchise tag on Cousins each of the last two seasons. They could do that again for 2018 (for one final time) with a price tag of $34.5 million fully guaranteed for one year. Reports indicate they are scouting the top quarterbacks likely to be available in the 2018 NFL draft. Cousins may not want to come back, and they seem ready to move on. However, expect them to tag Cousins (franchise or transition) so they get something for him if (when?) they lose him.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon will be examined

Source: Los Angeles Daily News - Jack Wang

Los Angles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (ankle) will have his injured ankle looked at Tuesday, Dec. 26, after rolling it a couple of times in Week 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation if you're playing a championship game in Week 17. He was wearing a walking boot following the injury but has suffered similar ailments this season and been able to recover well. The Chargers are still alive in the playoff picture and will give Gordon his normal (large) workload if he can handle it. Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn has indicated that this situation will come down to the end of the week. Stay tuned.

NYG - QB Eli Manning to start finale

    Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants QB Eli Manning will start the Week 17 season finale, according to interim coach Steve Spagnuolo.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Spagnuolo confirmed Manning will start, but he also indicated they could see what others can do. That would be a hint that rookie Davis Webb could get some playing time. A third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, Webb has all the tools of a pro passer but he was robotic in a college career that saw him play for two schools (Texas Tech, Cal).

PIT - WR Antonio Brown wouldn't be ready for WC game

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown (calf) is unlikely to be ready if the Steelers had to play in a wild-card game in the postseason, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers have locked in a first-round bye with their win over the Texans on Monday. That'll give him more time to heal for their first playoff game in the Divisional Round.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard injures neck

    Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (neck) left the Week 16 game with a neck injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Neck injuries are tricky to deal with and the Giants should just shut Shepard down for the Week 17 finale. We'll see if that's their decision during the week.

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray unlikely for finale

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) is considered a long shot to play in Week 17 due to his lateral collateral sprain.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Without Murray in Week 17, the Titans will turn to Derrick Henry more than ever. The Titans will make Henry the workhorse in a tough game against the Jaguars in Week 17 with their playoff hopes still alive.

    Wednesday Update

PHI - Philly noncommittal on QB Nick Foles for Week 17

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles is not a lock to start or play a significant number of snaps in Week 17 against Dallas Cowboys.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Week 17 is going to be treated like a preseason game by multiple teams out there. The Eagles have visions of making a deep postseason run with Foles as the starter. They could get him a few series then give way to Nate Sudfeld. A sixth-round pick out of Indiana in 2016 (Washington), Sudfeld has never thrown a pass in a regular season game. He's a tall (6'6") pocket passer with a rocket arm.

IND - RB Frank Gore close to milestone

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Indianapolis Colts RB Frank Gore must rush for 139 yards in Week 17 to reach 1,000 rushing yards on the season. If he does reach 1,000 yards it will be the tenth time in his career he has reached the 1,000-yard mark in his career.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans aren't very good at stopping the run, so Gore will have a chance to hit that 1,000 yard mark. Keep this in mind if you need a RB3/flex play in Week 17.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas close to milestone

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas needs 108 receiving yards in Week 17 to reach 1,000 yards for the sixth straight season. He would be the second Broncos wide receiver to achieve the feat.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos are likely to start QB Paxton Lynch against the Chiefs on Sunday. He should have a mandate to get Thomas the ball as much as possible. Keep this in mind if considering Thomas in your Week 17 championships.

BAL - Baltimore works out WR Jeremy Kerley

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Free-agent WR Jeremy Kerley (Jets) worked out for the Baltimore Ravens Tuesday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens might be without WR Jeremy Maclin in Week 17, and his availability for a postseason run is in question. They're updating their emergency list with this Kerley workout.

DET - Detroit not expecting to rest starters

    Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell told reporters Tuesday, Dec. 26, he has given no consideration to resting his starters in Week 17 versus the Green Bay Packers - including players such as QB Matthew Stafford, WR Golden Tate and WR Marvin Jones.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If they're not going to rest their starters, then fantasy owners can look to Lions players with a bit of confidence in Week 17.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders day-to-day

    Source: Denver7 - Troy Renck

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) is still nursing a sore ankle and remains day-to-day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders missed Week 16 due to this ankle injury, and he hasn't been the same since injuring this ankle against the Raiders a few weeks ago. There's a chance the team could shut down Sanders for the season finale against the Chiefs.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin could return for season finale

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) has 'a chance' to play in Week 17 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach John Harbaugh.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin's knee injury was not season ending, but it was enough to keep him out of action in Week 16. With a Wild Card appearance possible for the Ravens, they may decide to hold Maclin out of Week 17 so he's healthier for the postseason.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch likely to start Week 17

Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala
Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch is tentatively expected to start at home Week 17 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, according to head coach Vance Joseph.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good luck with that. Lynch, a first-round pick in 2016, has failed to win the starting job each of the last two years. He's only started three games in his short pro career, and Lynch has struggled in each of those games. The team needs to get a longer look at him, but even if he plays well against the Chiefs on Sunday we see the Broncos moving on. They're already scouting the top quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL draft and could make a big push for a veteran quarterback like Kirk Cousins.

Maybe they'd rather have that #4 spot and avoid Minnesota in divisional round.

Not the most ethical thing to do, but it would make some sense for the Rams. But in the end, they will probably have to go through Minnesota anyway, if they want to get to SB. I just don't see any of these NFC south teams upseting Vikings in Minnesota and clearing the way for the Rams.

    Thursday Update

PIT - WR Antonio Brown still ruled out

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Chris Adamski

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown (calf) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 27. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not have any update on Brown's condition, but he will not play in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. The Steelers have a first-round bye, so Brown has two more weeks to get healthy. He'll return to the field for the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon not practicing

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Jim Owczarski

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) was not in uniform for practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon was back in action in Week 16, but he got hurt in the first quarter and did not return. With Gio Bernard playing at a high level, we should see him lead the way for the Bengals on the ground once again in Week 17.

KC - Patrick Mahomes to draw Week 17 start

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced QB Patrick Mahomes will make his first career start in Week 17 against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs have the 4th seed wrapped up in the AFC. They're going to be playing at home during Wild Card Weekend and don't need to get QB Alex Smith hurt in a meaningless game against the Broncos. Mahomes was their first-round pick in 2017 and he's their future franchise quarterback. The gunslinger from Texas Tech has a tough draw against a Broncos secondary that could make it a long day for him.

LAR - QB Jared Goff could take a seat

Source: Ventura County Star - Joe Curley

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff could sit out of the Week 17 contest against the San Francisco 49ers after head coach Sean McVay said there will be starters that won't play at all.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ah, the dangers of playing in Week 17. Fantasy owners need to have other options with Goff, RB Todd Gurley and others likely to sit. Even if Goff begins the game as the starter, he could have a quick hook so he doesn't get hurt before the Rams make their postseason run. Sean Mannion is the backup to Goff.

LAR - RB Todd Gurley could sit out

Source: Ventura County Star - Joe Curley

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley could sit out of the Week 17 contest against the San Francisco 49ers after head coach Sean McVay said there will be starters that won't play at all.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners still playing in Week 17 are likely to be without a sure-fire RB1 as the Rams rest players. Gurley is the key piece for the Rams as they get ready to make what they hope is a deep postseason run.

NYJ - QB Christian Hackenberg to make Week 17 appearance?

Source: New York Daily News - Daniel Popper

New York Jets QB Christian Hackenberg could get his first career playing time in the regular season when the club plays its finale Sunday, Dec. 31, versus the New England Patriots. When asked if Hackenberg could see action in the contest, head coach Todd Bowles said, 'We'll see.' Bowles added that he'd make his decision 'probably sometime during the game.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets drafted Hackenberg in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft but he hasn't been good enough to see the field. They need to see what he can do with some regular season snaps to determine what his future with the team is (as a backup). We're expecting a ton of changes for the Jets this offseason and the QB room should get an overhaul.

LAC - Austin Ekeler practices in full

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hand) took part in a full practice session Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Melvin Gordon (ankle) banged up, Ekeler could be in line for a large role in Week 17. It's good that Ekeler is practicing in full on Wednesday, but monitor Gordon's status as the week goes on.

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray does not practice

    Source: NFL

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray's knee injury is expected to make him a game-time decision in Week 17. Derrick Henry will be the lead back for the Titans this week even if Murray does play against the Jaguars.

CLE - RB Isaiah Crowell limited Wednesday

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell (shoulder, ribs) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

On the road against the Steelers in Week 17, Crowell has RB3 value for fantasy owners in PPR leagues.

NE - RB Rex Burkhead misses practice

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead is unlikely to play in the regular season finale against the Jets. With a first-round bye, Burkhead is expected to return in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin misses practice

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Bills are on the road against the Dolphins in Week 17. If Benjamin can play, fantasy owners should consider him a flex option or WR3 option in PPR leagues.

GB - RB Jamaal Williams likely for bulk of work

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams is likely to handle a bulk of the workload in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions with RB Aaron Jones (knee) unlikely to play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams should get to grind against the Lions in the season finale. The rookie can get stronger as the game goes on, and he fights for every yard on every carry. His ability and role makes him a RB2 option for fantasy owners in Week 17.

MIN - RB Jerick McKinnon fully practices

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (shoulder) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In PPR leagues, McKinnon has RB2 value against the Bears in Week 17. This full participation on Wednesday is a good sign for his playing status this weekend.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard a no go Wednesday

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (neck) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No word on his playing status for Week 17. Neck injuries are incredibly tricky to deal with so the Giants will obviously take it easy on him.

NYG - TE Evan Engram doesn't practice

    Source: Giants.com

New York Giants TE Evan Engram (ribs) missed practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Engram may not be able to play in Week 17. Ribs injuries come down to pain tolerance, so we'll see if Engram can get through a practice later in the week.

WAS - RB Samaje Perine has full practice

Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine (groin, shoulder) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Perine was able to play against the Broncos in Week 16 even though his playing status was up in the air during the week. This full practice on Wednesday is a good sign for his status in Week 17 against the Giants.

DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders not practicing

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) was a non-participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'd be shocked if Sanders plays on Sunday against the Chiefs. His ankle has been bothering him for weeks, and even when he does play he doesn't look like his normal self. His future with the team is up in the air after a down season with the Broncos.

BAL - WR Jeremy Maclin remains sidelined

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) was not able to practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin's knee injury is not season ending, but the team doesn't want to rush him back with a postseason run looming. He may not be able to play again in Week 17.

LAC - No practice for RB Melvin Gordon

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (ankle) was held out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 27, as he remains day-to-day with an ankle injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

His ankle injury is considered minor, but the team may not practice Gordon until Friday. Monitor his practice status this week if you're playing in a Week 17 fantasy championship.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson back at practice Wednesday

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (foot) was spotted at practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson missed Week 16 due to this injury but it sounds like he could get on the field this week. His first season in Tampa is not going well, and the big-play receiver only has one catch of greater than 40 yards in 2017...and that was in Week 5 against the Patriots.

NE - WR Malcolm Mitchell practices Wednesday

Source: Boston Herald - Jeff Howe

New England Patriots WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee) was able to practice Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mitchell has missed the entire year with this knee injury. He now gets a three-week window to get activated or get put on IR for the rest of the year.

GB - WR Davante Adams remains in protocol

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (concussion) is still in the league's concussion protocol as of Wednesday, Dec. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's Week 17 and the Packers aren't going anywhere. They'll monitor his status during the week of practice but we'd be surprised if Adams plays with nothing to gain. Adams is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (shoulder) will not practice Wednesday, Dec. 27, and head coach Mike McCarthy admitted it will be 'tough' for Nelson to play in Week 17 against the Detroit Lions.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Davante Adams still in the concussion protocol, the Packers could turn to guys like Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison in Week 17.

MIN - QB Sam Bradford to return to practice next week

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters Wednesday, Dec. 27, that he expects QB Sam Bradford (knee) to be able to return to practice next week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings placed Bradford on IR back in November. They could bring him back during the playoffs if he's ready. Case Keenum has thrived as the starter and Teddy Bridgewater is his primary backup. The Vikings do have a third-string quarterback, Kyle Sloter, who could lose his roster spot to a healthy Bradford.

SEA - RB Chris Carson won't practice this week

    Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson
Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (ankle, leg) won't practice this week, according to head coach Pete Carroll.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
At 9-6 the Seahawks are still in the hunt for the playoffs. Carson is trying to come back from a broken leg but it doesn't look like he's on track to do that, even if Seattle makes it to the postseason. The rookie from Oklahoma State appeared in four games this year, rushing for 208 yards on 49 carries.

    Friday Update

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins will miss first game

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (calf) will be sidelined for Week 17. It is the first game he will have missed in his five-year career.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Really, there's zero reason for him to play aside from keeping that streak alive. The Texans are out of contention, TJ Yates is awful and he's done plenty to warrant a new contract, given his 1,378 yard, 13 touchdown season.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon not practicing

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (ankle) missed his second straight practice Thursday, Dec. 28, but he is expected to be limited Friday, Dec. 29.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this Friday, as Gordon would be a nice RB1 play this week against Oakland. If he's out Friday, we'd be concerned.

LAC - TE Antonio Gates sits out practice with illness

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers TE Antonio Gates (illness) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Hunter Henry out, Gates is suddenly relevant again. If he isn't too sick, expect him to put up TE1 numbers this week against a poor Oakland defense.

LAR - WR Cooper Kupp remains sidelined

    Source: TheRams.com

Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kupp might see some work but we expect the Rams to give most of their starters ample rest this week. He might produce some WR6 numbers, but that's his ceiling this week, so look elsewhere.

OAK - WR Cordarrelle Patterson limited in practice

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Cordarrelle Patterson (hip) was limited in practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Patterson is of limited value most of the time when healthy, so this pretty much keeps him far away from our lineups even though Michael Crabtree is out.

OAK - Another limited practice for TE Jared Cook

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders TE Jared Cook (wrist) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Outside of a few really good weeks here or there, Cook has been pretty subpar. We expect that to be the case this week again, and wouldn't have him near our lineups in any format.

OAK - WR Amari Cooper limited in practice again

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (ankle) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At this point, Cooper probably would just like the season to end. Banged up fro part of it and suffering through some bad play by the quarterback and rest of the team, Cooper is still capable of good days - they're just not consistent. We think he should have a solid WR2 day on Sunday, at least ending 2017 on a good note.

TB - WR DeSean Jackson listed as limited

    Source: NFL

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It still looks questionable for Jackson this week, and we'll see if he can get in close to a full practice on Friday.

NO - WR Michael Thomas limited again

    Source: NFL

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas should be playing, and this game actually means something for the Saints, so don't expect them to throttle back. Thomas will be a great WR2 start with WR1 upside.

NYJ - WR Jermaine Kearse misses practice again

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets WR Jermaine Kearse (ankle) missed practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kearse is likely out this weekend. It will be interesting to see what the Jets do with him, as he pretty much exceeded the meager expectations they had for him this past season.

GB - RB Aaron Jones remains sidelined

    Source: NFLMedia.com

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) did not participate in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is unlikely to play this week, and there is no reason for the Packers to risk him in a game which means nothing in a season that is over.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant does not practice

    Source: NFL

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We aren't expecting a ton out of the Dallas passing offense this week, though Bryant is probably the best of the bunch. That doesn't mean we're excited though, as we think their starters could see a bunch of rest. It's risky to rely on Bryant as more than a WR3.

MIN - RB Jerick McKinnon practices in full

    Source: NFL

Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McKinnon and Latavious Murray will split carries in what should be a run-heavy gameplan. That said, Murray will get more work and produce more so McKinnon is no more than a RB3 against Chicago.

MIN - TE Kyle Rudolph a limited participant

    Source: NFL

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings have nothing to play for, as they are locked into the second seed. So while Rudolph might play, the Vikings won't have him do too much and will probably not give their starters too much time on the field to avoid injury. We'd avoid Rudolph.

ATL - WR Julio Jones limited

    Source: NFL

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (ankle, thumb) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones should be fine and since this game is one of the few meaningful ones on Sunday's docket, we expect him to see a lot of action. Just about the last elite receiver standing right now, Jones will cost you plenty in Daily Fantasy, but he will also be one of the surest best at the position.

DET - TE Eric Ebron limited Thursday

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think they're just being cautious with him, and Ebron should be in the lineup this weekend. He's found the end zone in both of the last two games, and had ten catches for 94 yards the week before that. We feel the trend will continue in one way or another and you should have him in lineups with the expectation he will put up TE1 numbers.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon, RB Giovani Bernard both limited

    Source: Bengals.com

Cincinnati Bengals RBs Joe Mixon (ankle) and Giovani Bernard (ankle) were limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We think it more likely that Bernard end up in a meaningless game than Mixon, who is more of the future. Bernard should have low-end RB2 production, as he will combine some receiving yards with his ground work.

NE - WR Chris Hogan remains limited

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We aren't expecting Hogan in the lineup this week, and you shouldn't be either. Even if he shows up, we wouldn't risk starting him this week.

NE - RB James White listed as limited

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots RB James White (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

White is banged up and hasn't been used much even when healthy. He might see extra work if the game gets out of control, but we wouldn't bet on it. Keep him out of your lineups.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker fully practices

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's the end of the season and once again DeVante Parker has failed to live up to expectations. He has yet to crack 100 yards this year and has a grand total of one touchdown. Our expectations for this week are more of the same -- a WR4 production from a guy who everyone thought could be so much more.

MIA - RB Damien Williams limited Thursday

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is pretty much irrelevant in this offense anyway, so no real loss.

NYG - TE Evan Engram not practicing

    Source: Giants.com
New York Giants TE Evan Engram (ribs) was unable to practice Thursday, Dec. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If Engram plays, he could be a solid TE2 this week, held back in part because his ribs could still be sore. As he couldn't practice today though, we suspect the Giants could be cautious with him, and then Rhett Ellison will get more work. Ellison could be a low-end TE2 this week, if that's the case.

    Saturday Update

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray not playing in finale

    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (knee) has been ruled out for Week 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Derrick Henry should get a lot of run this week with a playoff berth on the line.

GB - WR Davante Adams receives extension

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter and Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams signed a four-year contract extension with the Packers Friday, Dec. 29, worth $58.75 million, according to a source. The deal includes $32 million in guaranteed money and an $18 million signing bonus.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams won't test the free agency market and has smartly decided to stay with Aaron Rodgers. The team will have tougher decisions on Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson and their hefty price tags. Adams' contract will set the market for a solid 2018 free agent class.

TB - TE Cameron Brate questionable for finale

    Source: Buccaneers.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Cameron Brate (hip, knee) practiced in full on Friday, Dec. 29, and he is listed as questionable for Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brate was the team's primary tight end last week with OJ Howard out, but he didn't produce against the Panthers. He'll be a desperation play against the Saints in Week 17.

OAK - WR Amari Cooper fully practices

    Source: Raiders.com

Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper outplayed and outproduced Michael Crabtree by a large margin last week, and he's clearly the better Raiders wide receiver play this week, although he could see a lot of Casey Hayward.

NO - WR Michael Thomas should play in Week 17

    Source: NFL

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 29, but is not on the injury report for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas's status was in doubt last week, but he played well through his injury and he should be one of the best wide receiver plays for Week 17.

DAL - WR Dez Bryant on track to play

    Source: NFL

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bryant is still not a safe Week 17 play with his recent downturn in play and the Cowboys possible resting of starters this week. It could be his last game in Cowboys uniform.

DAL - WR Cole Beasley questionable

    Source: NFL

Dallas Cowboys WR Cole Beasley (illness) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys could give their starters some rest in this week's game, which would open the door to more playing time for rookie Ryan Switzer in Week 17. The Cowboys could release Beasley and his 3.25 million 2018 price tag if they think Switzer can offer more.

LAR - WR Cooper Kupp listed as questionable

    Source: NFL

Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kupp is unlikely to play with the Rams choosing to get their starters rest instead of pushing to get the three seed instead of the four seed in the NFC bracket.

NE - WR Chris Hogan questionable for Week 17

    Source: Patriots.com

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and he is questionable for Week 17 against the New York Jets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hogan has been in this pattern for the last two weeks, and has not been active on game days. The Patriots could get his balky shoulder two more weeks of rest before the divisional round if they sit him this week.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill to miss Week 17

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (non-injury) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and has been ruled out for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill is mourning the loss of his father and won't play in the meaningless Week 17 game. Demarcus Robinson, DeAnthony Thomas, and Albert Wilson will be the primary receivers for Patrick Mahomes.

MIN - TE Kyle Rudolph not on injury report

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 29, but is not on the injury report for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rudolph hasn't been his normal self since suffering the ankle injury. He's not a clear TE1 for Week 17.

DET - TE Eric Ebron on track to play

    Source: DetroitLions.com

Detroit Lions TE Eric Ebron (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ebron was the most valuable fantasy tight end during the fantasy playoffs Weeks 14-16, and he should be one of the best plays of Week 17.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon listed as questionable

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (ankle) is expected to play Week 17 against the Oakland Raiders despite being listed as questionable on the injury report.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers have called up a running back from their practice squad, so we should check back on Sunday to make sure Gordon is active. The Chargers should err on the side of playing him with a possible playoff berth on the line.

BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin on track to play

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 29, but is not on the injury report for Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin had what looked like a touchdown taken off of the board last week and despite playing with an injured knee, he's not a bad WR3/Flex option against Miami this week with the Bills vying for a playoff spot.

BAL - Baltimore's top receivers banged up

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Baltimore Ravens WR Jeremy Maclin (knee) is listed as doubtful for Week 17 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. WR Mike Wallace (knee) is listed as questionable.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wallace should play and he's a solid WR3/Flex option with the Ravens playing for a spot in the playoffs.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 17 versus the Baltimore Ravens.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Mixon can't go, Giovani Bernard should be an RB1 level play, coming into this one after putting up his best game of the year in relief of Mixon against the Lions.

Source: The Bergen Record - Art Stapleton

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (neck) and TE Evan Engram (ribs) have been ruled out for Week 17 against the Washington Redskins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roger Lewis will be the #1 receiver and rookie Travis Rudolph will also get a lot of snaps at wide receiver. Rhett Ellison will be the Giants top receiving tight end this week.

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WRs Davante Adams (concussion) and Jordy Nelson (shoulder) as well as RB Aaron Jones (knee) and TE Richard Rodgers (shoulder) have all been ruled out for Week 17 versus the Detroit Lions.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Geronimo Allison and Michael Clark will get the start at outside receiver for the Packers in the tilt with the Lions.

LAR - Top wideouts to play sparingly?

    Source: ESPN.com - Alden Gonzalez

Los Angeles Rams WRs Cooper Kupp (knee), Robert Woods and Sammy Watkins are unlikely to see much action in Week 17, according to head coach Sean McVay.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rookie Josh Reynolds, along with Pharoh Cooper and Mike Thomas should see most of the work at wide receiver, with Tavon Austin possibly figuring in.

DEN - QB Paxton Lynch not fully healthy

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold

Denver Broncos QB Paxton Lynch (ankle) is still bothered by his ankle, and the injury will be a 'factor' in Week 17, according to offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That probably means the team will run Lynch less by design and lower his fantasy ceiling. The Broncos offense is unreliable in Week 17 with Lynch at the helm.

PHI - Big role for RB Wendell Smallwood?

Source: Philadelphia Daily News - Paul Domowitch

Philadelphia Eagles RB Wendell Smallwood should receive a 'lion's share of carries' against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, according to Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Smallwood joins the unlikely cast of Week 17 running backs with fantasy relevance because of resting starters on playoff teams.

Sunday Morning Injury (and REST) Updates

    QUARTERBACK

Alex Smith | Not Injury Related | Not expected to Play
Jared Goff | Not Injury Related | Active as backup only
Ben Roethlisberger | Not Injury RElated | Not expected to Play

Sean McVay told reporters early this week Goff would not play. Expect Goff to be active -- the Rams do not have another quarterback on the active roster to serve as a backup -- but play only if absolutely necessary. Smith has taken scout team reps all week as the Chiefs prepare Pat Mahomes to start. While the Steelers haven't officially confirmed a lineup change, Roethlisberger hasn't practiced this week and offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert said Roethlisberger would not play during a midweek radio interview. With the Steelers still in the mix for homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs -- a win and Patriots' loss gets them the #1 AFC seed -- I'm not convinced Roethlisberger sits. But the practice participation looks telling here.

Sunday Update: Ian Rapoport reported overnight Roethlisberger will not play.

    Others of note: Tom Brady
(Achilles, shoulder), Blake Bortles (wrist), and Cam Newton (shoulder) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Paxton Lynch (ankle) practiced all week and is expected to start.

    RUNNING BACK

Todd Gurley | Not Injury Related | Not expected to Play
Le'Veon Bell | Not Injury Related | not Expected to PlaY

Kareem Hunt | Not Injury Related | Likely to Rest

As noted in the Quarterback section, the Rams plan to rest their critical starters. That will include Gurley. Pittsburgh hasn't made any lineup changes official but the team has rested Bell in practice this week and offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert may have tipped the Steelers' hand in a radio interview and revealed plans to rest Bell. With the Steelers still in the mix for homefield advantage throughout the AFC playoffs -- a win and Patriots' loss gets them the #1 AFC seed -- I'm not convinced Bell sits. Bell did not practice Thursday or Friday, though, and the Steelers look to be planning to go with Fitzgerald Touissant and Stevan Ridley against Cleveland.

Hunt is the most interesting case of the three listed. Andy Reid started game planning with Pat Mahomes in mind early this week. The Chiefs ruled out Tyreek Hill on Friday for rest purposes. There has been nothing specific reported on Hunt but he's as critical to the Chiefs' playoff success as Alex Smith and Hill. But Charcandrick West has been ruled out with an illness and the Chiefs did not add a running back to the roster on Saturday. It's also notable that Hunt is just a few yards behind Gurley (and even with Bell) for the league lead in rushing yards. Hunt may play just long enough to clinch that title -- or he may be inactive. Either way, Akeem Hunt and DeAnthony Thomas are likely to see the bulk of the work.

Sunday Update: Ian Rapoport reported Bell will not play.

    Melvin Gordon
    | Ankle | Questionable | Limited if Active

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Gordon plans to try to play through a low-grade high ankle sprain in a must-win game. Although Anthony Lynn acknowledged Gordon didn't participate in any full-speed practice reps this week, the limited individual work was good to see for a player recovering from a high ankle sprain. Gordon has told reporters all week he was "fine" and would start. But Lynn said the Chargers would ask Gordon to sprint at speed on Saturday before making a decision. That's not reassuring. Getting up to straight-line speed is the easiest hurdle to clear for a player with a high ankle sprain. Deceleration and, most important, change of direction are much tougher asks. Gordon may prove himself capable on Saturday. The Chargers didn't wait until Saturday to add another running back to the active roster, however. Even if Gordon is active, all indications are he'll see a much lighter workload than usual. He'll also be at risk of an in-game aggravation or being shut down as the game script / playoff situation warrants.

Sunday Update: Both Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter consider Gordon likely to play today, though neither gave a strong endorsement about his health. Rapoport reports the team "isn't sure how long he'll be able to go."

    Joe Mixon
    | Ankle | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Practice participation usually provides accurate clues on Cincinnati's injured players. When a player is able to practice on consecutive days at the end of the week, they're usually cleared for the active roster. Watch for pregame news and don't expect Mixon to see a clear majority of the running back snaps, but it looks like Mixon will play.

Sunday Update: Ian Rapoport is reporting Mixon "wants to test his ankle" but is expected to be active. If he plays, Mixon is unlikely to see more than 10-12 touches.

    James White
    | Ankle | Questionable | Likely Inactive

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Last week, White was limited in practice all week and declared inactive after a week of no information out of the local or national media until Sunday morning. This week, White has been limited in practice all week and there's been no information from the local or national media through Saturday morning. Mike Gillislee has been declared out with a knee injury and the Patriots have yet to add a back to the active roster. That suggests White will play but watch the Saturday transactions and overnight reports for confirmation.

Sunday Update: White is likely to be inactive today, according to reports from Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport.

    Kerwynn Williams
    | Quad / Ribs / Back | Questionable | Likely to Play
Elijhaa Penny | Hand / Groin | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited
Both Williams and Penny have been limited in practice all week. Williams has continued to see high workloads through multiple nagging injuries despite limited practices. That's likely to be the case again this week. Williams has added a back condition to his list of concerns, however. If the back issue is significant, it could limit Williams' ability to warm up in Seattle's weather tomorrow afternoon.

    Matt Forte
    | Knee | Questionable | Injured reserve

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

Forte hasn't practiced during the week for over half the season but continued to take his usual 30-40 snaps and see 10-15 touches. That won't be the case this week. The Jets moved him to injured reserve on Saturday afternoon.

    Charcandrick West
    | Illness | Questionable | Declared Out

Practice Participation: Wed - Not Listed | Thurs - DNP | Fri - DNP

The Chiefs ruled West out on Saturday. It remains to be seen if that affects the workload of Kareem Hunt, who was likely in line for a significantly decreased workload as Kansas City rests starters. The Chiefs' third running back, Akeem Hunt, is dealing with a shoulder injury and is listed questionable.

    Others of note:
Giovani Bernard (ankle), Samaje Perine (groin, shoulder), Jerick McKinnon (shoulder), Isaiah Crowell (shoulder), and Duke Johnson (shoulder) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. DeMarco Murray (knee), Rex Burkhead (knee), Mike Gillislee (knee), Aaron Jones (knee), and Damien Williams (shoulder) are doubtful or have been declared out.

    WIDE RECEIVER

Tyreek Hill | Not Injury Related | Declared Out

There will undoubtedly be other starters on the inactive list but Hill is the only offensive starter already declared out on the injury report without a designated injury.

    Julio Jones
    | Thumb / Ankle | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

The Falcons again limited Jones' reps in practice but left him off the game status report. He's had 30 targets over the past three weeks and 51 over the past five weeks and has not appeared limited by either injury. With Antonio Brown and DeAndre Hopkins out, Jones is a 150+ yard game from passing both for the season receiving yardage title. And the Falcons are in a must-win situation for a playoff birth. Expect Jones to see heavy usage again this week.

    Michael Thomas
    | Hamstring | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Thomas was a very late addition to last week's injury report but able to play through a hamstring strain. The Saints' managed his reps and targets, however. Usually a 75-85% snap, 8-12 target option, Thomas had just five targets on 67% of his team's offensive snaps last week. This week, Thomas was able to participate in all three practices and the Saints do no list him on the game status report. A New Orleans victory earns them a home playoff game as the NFC South champion. Thomas is still within the risk window for an aggravation but expect him to return to his usual workload.

    Chris Hogan
    | Shoulder | Questionable | Likely Inactive

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

The Patriots have not risked an aggravation to Hogan on gameday for two weeks and there's been no indication that changes this week.

    Allen Hurns
    | Ankle | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Hurns has had two weeks of limited practice as the Jaguars slowly reconditioned him to football-related activity. Now off the injury report, Hurns will return to action to get some work in game conditions before the Jaguars' playoff game. Expect Jacksonville to limit his snap count, though there's a small chance Hurns sees more playing time than expected if his conditioning allows.

    Mike Wallace
    | Knee | Questionable | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Full | Fri - Full

The Ravens commonly list players who fully practice and expect to play as questionable. That's the case with Wallace this week. He'll again play through a minor knee injury.

    Eric Decker
    | Hamstring | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Not Listed | Thurs - Not Listed | Fri - Limited

Decker was limited in practice on Friday with hamstring soreness but the Titans did not list him on the game status report. He is expected to play.

    DeSean Jackson
    | Ankle | Questionable | Awaiting Information

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Jackson was unable to play with an ankle injury last week but practiced all three days this week. Dirk Koetter wouldn't commit to Jackson's availability on Thursday and the team did not update his condition on Friday. It's possible off-field issues will play into Jackson's availability, too. If active, Jackson could be limited.

    Others of note:
Robby Anderson (hamstring), Dez Bryant (knee), Amari Cooper (ankle), Kelvin Benjamin (knee), Devin Funchess (shoulder), Marquise Goodwin (back), Keelan Cole (quad), have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Antonio Brown (calf), DeAndre Hopkins (calf), Cooper Kupp (knee), Davante Adams (concussion), Jordy Nelson (shoulder), Sterling Shepard (neck), Marqise Lee (ankle), Emmanuel Sanders (ankle), Jeremy Maclin (knee), Cole Beasley (illness), and Cody Latimer (thigh) have been declared out.

    TIGHT END

Kyle Rudolph | Ankle | Not LIsted | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Rudolph has had a slow and deliberate recovery from an ankle injury. Two weeks ago, Rudolph played just 21 snaps (34%). Last week, his usage increased to 35 snaps (57%). Both are well under his usual 90-100% snap usage. Rudolph's targets have dropped dramatically, with just three over the past two weeks. For the first time in nearly a month, Rudolph participated in all workouts during the week. Still more reassuring is Minnesota not listing Rudolph on their game status report. However, with the Vikings all but locked into the #2 seed in the NFC, it's likely Rudolph plays enough to remain in condition but not much more. The Vikings have no reason to risk an aggravation, even with a bye in the wild card round.

    Eric Ebron
    | Knee | Not Listed | Expected to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

Ebron was inconsistent early in the season but his second half has been much better and he's proven more durable than usual. He's in line to play through a minor knee injury and participate in all 16 games for the first time in his career. Another strong game to end the season will help his case as he enters free agency.

    Cameron Brate
    | Hip / Knee | Questionable | Likely to Play

Practice Participation: Wed - DNP | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Full

On Thursday, Dirk Koetter told reporters he was unsure whether Brate would be able to go. After a full Friday practice, Brate looks likely to play.

    Adam Shaheen
    | Chest | Questionable | Awaiting Information

Practice Participation: Wed - Limited | Thurs - Limited | Fri - Limited

Shaheen hasn't played since Week 14 against the Bengals despite participating in limited drills in practice. Whether the Bears choose to continue to rest Shaheen with injury or look to get him reps with Mitch Trubisky for the future remains to be seen.

    Others of note
: Rob Gronkowski (illness), Jimmy Graham (ankle), Greg Olsen (foot), Charles Clay (knee), Antonio Gates (illness), Jared Cook (wrist), Marcedes Lewis (ankle), and George Kittle (ankle) have practiced, are not listed on the game status report, and are expected to play without limitation. Evan Engram (rib), Austin Seferian-Jenkins (ribs / foot), and Richard Rodgers (shoulder) are doubtful or have been declared out.

    >>>> Note: Due to travel and time constraints over the next two weeks, the table will include offensive skill position players only.
