NFL Player News - Week 4

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

CHI - OLB Jared Allen traded away

    Source: ESPN.com

The Chicago Bears traded DE Jared Allen to the Carolina Panthers Monday, Sept. 28, in exchange for a conditional draft pick. The Bears are paying $11.5 million of Allen's salary, while Carolina will pay him $823,000, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen did not fit into the Bears 3-4 defense, and he should look more at home as a defensive end with the Panthers. Charles Johnson is banged up with a hamstring injury, so the Panthers needed to make a move to add a pass-rusher. Allen is not the same player he used to be, but he could work well as a part-time player for the Panthers.

PIT - Bruise a concern for QB Ben Roethlisberger

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger's (knee) bone bruise is as big as or bigger of an issue than his medial collateral ligament sprain.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reports at this time indicate Roethlisberger is more likely to miss six weeks than four weeks. We shall see about that. Roethlisberger will not be rushed back, but it wouldn't surprise us if he was ready to go in a month. Stay tuned.

BAL - No practice for TE Crockett Gillmore

    Source: Baltimoreravens.com

Baltimore Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore (calf) did not practice Monday, Sept. 28, due to a calf injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on Gillmore and whether he can practice later this week.

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch to undergo MRI
    Source: ESPN.com - Sheil Kapadia
Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his injured hamstring Monday, Sept. 28.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
His status for the Week 4 game against the Detroit Lions is not known at this point, and head coach Pete Carroll said he probably will not have a good idea until Friday, Oct. 2.

PIT - PIT HC confident in QB Michael Vick
    Source: ESPN.com
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Michael Vick still has plenty of playing time left in his career, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Vick will be the Steelers' starting quarterback for several weeks with QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) sidelined. Vick completed five of six passes for 38 yards after Roethlisberger exited in Week 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
What else is Tomlin supposed to say, "Vick sucks unless he cares, then he's just average as a starter." The Steelers should use a simplified playbook for Vick as he gets used to the players around him on the Todd Haley system. One would think an absolute mandate for the Steelers offense is to get RB LeVeon Bell involved early and often. Another command should be getting WR Antonio Brown the ball about 10 times per game.

NYJ - N.Y. non-committal on WR Eric Decker

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles is non-committal on whether WR Eric Decker (knee) will play in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The two teams play bright and early in London on Sunday morning. Move forward as if Decker is not going to play or at least very limited. In other words, have other options at the ready.

STL - WR Brian Quick could play in Week 4

    Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner

St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick has a chance to be active for the Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Jeff Fisher.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll believe it when we see it. Quick has been a healthy scratch the first three weeks of the season. At one time, the shoulder injury he had last year was thought to be career threatening. Now, we just don't know what's going on with Quick.

CLE - WR Dwayne Bowe staying on roster

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Dwayne Bowe will remain with the team and is expected to contribute as the season goes on, according to head coach Mike Pettine. Pettine said the team has not considered releasing Bowe.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Here's the reason why Bowe is staying on the roster (per Spotrac.om) -- Dwayne Bowe signed a 2 year, $12,500,000 contract with the Cleveland Browns, including a $3,500,000 signing bonus, $9,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $6,250,000. In 2015, Bowe will earn a base salary of $2,650,000, a signing bonus of $3,500,000 and a workout bonus of $100,000. Bowe has a cap hit of $4,500,000 while his dead money value is $9,100,000. 'Nuff said.

PHI - Coach happy with RB Ryan Mathews' play

    Source: ESPN.com - Phil Sheridan

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews showed good size and explosion during the Week 3 game against the New York Jets, according to head coach Chip Kelly. 'He's a real decisive, one-cut runner. Stick[s] his foot in the ground and go. You're going to have to run through some arm tackles and he did. He's got some size to go with his explosion. You've got to be physical through there and he was really physical today,' Kelly said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelly should be happy as Mathews was the best part of the team's offense on Sunday. Who knows how this RB situation is going to work out when DeMarco Murray (hamstring) is healthy enough to play. Stay tuned.

HOU - RB Arian Foster close to return?

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) could be close to returning, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This was about the expected timetable for Foster's return. The guy is in tune with his body, perhaps more than any other player in the league. When he's practicing fully, we're going to trust him as a RB1 upon his return.

NE - RB Dion Lewis similar to former NE RB

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots RB Dion Lewis reminds running backs coach Ivan Fears of former Patriots RB Kevin Faulk. 'He's very similar to Kevin. The only limitation that these guys have had is the size factor,' Fears said. 'Everybody just knocked them because of it. But believe me, they've proven a lot of people wrong.' Fears did also say that Lewis still has a lot of work to do.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Faulk was a fantastic receiver out of the backfield, but we feel that Lewis is a better runner. Going forward, Lewis should be the team's lead back. In blowouts, the Patriots could turn to LeGarrette Blount just like they did in Week 3 against the Jaguars. The Patriots have a bye this week.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart should be fine

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (calf) should be able to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4 even though he suffered a calf injury in Week 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Isn't that what we're always hearing about Stewart. The dude is talented, but man does he get banged up quite a bit. This week against the Buccaneers, Stewart should be able to perform like a RB2 with RB1 upside.

NYJ - RB Chris Ivory will be able to play

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (quadriceps) should be good to go against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Ivory will rest a couple days this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch for him to practice fully later in the week before trusting him in your lineup as a RB3/flex play. The Jets go up against the Dolphins in London on Sunday morning bright and early.

DET - RB Joique Bell struggling early

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell has not been the running back he was in the past, but head coach Jim Caldwell said he believes he will able to return to that level of play. Bell is averaging only 1.1 yards per carry during the first three games of the season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team has been loyal to Bell up to this point, but quite frankly the team is just better when Ameer Abdullah is getting featured. We'll see if Bell's role continues to shrink as Abdullah's role continues to grow as the season rolls on.

CLE - QB Josh McCown feels fine

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (hand, finger) said he feels fine despite a swollen right hand and a wrapped ring finger. McCown also said he won't miss practice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCown doesn't want to miss any time because that could open the door for Johnny Manziel to be the starter again. Sounds like he's good to go for the team's Week 4 game against the Chargers.

ARI - RB Andre Ellington expected to practice

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) will participate in practice in a limited fashion during the early part of the week, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch to see if Ellington can practice fully later in the week. If he can play, it will hurt the fantasy value of both Chris Johnson and David Johnson.

IND - WR Andre Johnson off to slow start

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson has only tallied seven catches on 18 targets for 51 yards and no touchdowns through the first three games of the 2015 season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Father Time catches up with everyone, and it seems like Johnson is just a shadow of his former self. This reminds us so much of how Hakeem Nicks looked last year struggling to make plays for the Colts. Fantasy owners can feel confident in moving on to waiver-wire additions like Travis Benjamin or Allen Hurns.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz works out

    Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) ran routes and caught passes on a side field during the team's walkthrough Monday, Sept. 28, and believes he will be able to play against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team plans to have Cruz practice Wednesday, Sept. 30, and possibly again Thursday, Oct. 1, if does not have any problems. Cruz could be held out another game if he has any problems with his knee or calf.

STL - WR Nick Toon will join St. Louis

    Source: FOXSports.com - Ross Jones

Free-agent WR Nick Toon (Saints) will sign with the St. Louis Rams, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This could be bad news for Brian Quick. He's recovering from a shoulder injury that was once thought to be career threatening. Quick has been a healthy scratch for every game this year, and there's been no spotting him on the injury report. It's one of the most mysterious situations right now. If Toon signs, then perhaps it's a sign that Quick is done.

BUF - WR Sammy Watkins avoids serious injury

    Source: NFL.com

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (calf) was diagnosed with a mild calf strain and is listed as day-to-day, according to a source informed of the injury. However, head coach Rex Ryan said there's a chance that Watkins won't be able to play in Week 4 against the New York Giants.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills will be cautious with their superstar wide receiver here. Before he was hurt, Watkins had one catch for 39 yards. So long as Tyrod Taylor continues to gain confidence as a passer, we could see Watkins flourish.

CAR - WR Jerricho Cotchery to miss a few weeks

    Source: NFL.com
Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) is making progress in his recovery from an ankle injury but likely will not return to the field until after the Week 5 bye.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
That could lead to more of rookie Devin Funchess. The no1 WR in Carolina is Ted Ginn Jr. as he seems to have the best chemistry with QB Cam Newton. We'll see if Funchess can do more with an increased role.

STL - RB Todd Gurley will need some time
    Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner
St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley, who had only six carries for nine yards and one catch for five yards in Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers in his first game of the season, said it will take him some time to get back up to speed after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last year. Gurley doesn't expect his knee to be very sore this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're not surprised. It's not even been 12 months since Gurley originally hurt the knee. Fantasy owners just need to be patient as the Rams are wisely being cautious with their potential superstar.

    Wednesday Update

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger doesn't need surgery

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) will not need surgery for a sprained medial collateral ligament and bone bruise in his left knee. He said he is dealing with a lot of pain.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roethlisberger will do everything he can to get back on the field, but he's still likely to miss out on a month or so of NFL action. He will need to play with a brace when he comes back, but Roethlisberger told doctors he'll wear one for a couple weeks but might stop after that.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy unlikely to play

Source: NFL Network - Rand Getlin

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is unlikely to play in Week 4 against the New York Giants as he deals with his hamstring injury, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy needs to give the hamstring time to properly heal before he gets back out on the field. We will see rookie Karlos Williams take over in the backfield while McCoy is out. Williams has scored a touchdown each of the last three weeks. Against the Dolphins in Week 3, Williams had 12 carries for 110 yards and one touchdown.

CLE - QB Josh McCown still the starter

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (hand) said his injured right hand will not hold him back, and head coach Mike Pettine named McCown the starter for their Week 4 game against the San Diego Chargers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There are rumblings that behind the scenes players are pushing for Johnny Manziel to be the starter. Keep this in mind when considering all Cleveland options. We may see a QB change, even though the staff seems committed (at this time) to McCown.

BAL - TE Crockett Gillmore not expected to play this week

    Source: Jamison Hensley - ESPN

Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman doesn't expect starting TE Crockett Gillmore to play Thursday at Pittsburgh. "With Crockett being out ... we expect [our young tight ends] to step up and play well for us."

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Look for Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle to carry the TE load.

    Source: Around The NFL

Texans have waived kicker Randy Bullock, and will replace him with Nick Novak.

if you need a cheap kicker, Novak could be your guy.

DET - Play caller won't change for Lions

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi will remain the play caller on offense despite the Lions' recent struggles, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. 'It's not an easy fix,' Caldwell said. 'It takes work and I think we're on the right track. I just think that we obviously, we're just kind of missing a little bit here or there which is kind of enough to slow us down.' Caldwell also said that he believes the issue lies in execution.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. It's just not working for the Lions on offense, and they need to change it up. When multiple defenders are telling WR Golden Tate that they know the plays before the Lions run them, it's a clear sign that something is wrong.

NE - Several players work out

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

Free-agents RB Montee Ball (Broncos), TEs Brandon Bostick (Vikings) and Brian Leonhardt (Raiders), QB Zac Dysert (Texans), RB Darrin Reaves (Panthers) and TE Konrad Reuland (Ravens) worked out for the New England Patriots Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots are likely just updating their emergency list here. It's interesting to see Montee Ball get a look from the Patriots. Ball failed in Denver, but it's been a bit surprising to see him out of work for a few weeks. Perhaps some team is going to add him in the near future.

ARI - AZ off to historical start

    Source: ESPN.com

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer and the Arizona offense are tied for the fourth-most points scored through three games (126) in NFL history.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals have looked fantastic on both sides of the ball. A big reason why is Carson Palmer is healthy...plus WR Larry Fitzgerald is healthy too. Fantasy owners should start 'em if you've got 'em.

SD - QB Philip Rivers on INT streak
    Source: ESPN.com

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers has thrown an interception in nine straight games -- the longest active streak in the NFL. The next longest active streak is three games.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Rivers needs to take care of the football if the team wants to get back on track. They could still be a factor in the AFC West, but right now the team is 1-2. That's tied for the worst record in the division with the Chiefs.

DET - WR Golden Tate says offense is predictable

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate said in each of the first three games this season he has had opponents tell him they knew the plays that were being called. 'I don't know how they know or what film they're watching that we're giving away,' Tate said. 'That's something we got to go back and watch our tendencies to figure out where we line up or how we line up or what formation or whatever it may be.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At 0-3, the Lions clearly need to change things up. We'll see if the team starts being even more creative with dangerous weapons like Tate and RBs Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker progressing

Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker is improving every game, specifically with his route-running, according to head coach Joe Philbin. 'The guy is getting better every single day and I expect nothing but more play, more production and it's just going to keep getting better,' Philbin said. 'The guy really is talented and he's working hard to catch up, but let's face it, he's missed a lot of time and he's catching up fast.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watch Parker's progress here. We love the rookie's speed and ability to get on top of the defense in a hurry. Parker doesn't lose speed when turning to find the ball over his shoulder, and he could make for a nice deep target for QB Ryan Tannehill.

SF - QB Colin Kaepernick backed by HC

    Source: ESPN.com - Paul Gutierrez

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick still has the support of head coach Jim Tomsula. Tomsula said he believes in Kaepernick and that Kaepernick has the tools to be a good quarterback in the NFL. Tomsula added that he hasn't thought of Kaepernick as not being their starting quarterback.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Isn't that a double-negative? Anyway, here we go with the dreaded vote of confidence for Kaepernick. They're unlikely to bench him even if his poor play continues as nobody is saying "let's see what Blaine Gabbert can do!" Fantasy owners should find better options on the waiver wire like Marcus Mariota or Tyrod Taylor.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz convinced he'll play
Source: New York Daily News - Ralph Vacchiano
Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) finally feels like himself again and is 'convinced' that he will make his season debut against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4. Cruz has no pain in his left calf or right knee, although he hasn't taken part in a full practice yet. Head coach Tom Coughlin said the return of Cruz will open up the team's playbook and make them more dynamic. 'I think the training staff kind of wants me to pace it, to not just go from 0 to 100,' Cruz said. 'Just kind of take it and kind of go incremental throughout the week and get myself ready to play.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Against a tough Bills defense, we're tampering our expectations for Cruz in his first week back. We like him as a "what the heck" flex for those that have been waiting. If you can, keep him on the bench and watch to see how he looks upon his return.

CLE - WR Dwayne Bowe not 100%

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns WR Dwayne Bowe (hamstring) is not 100% healthy yet and playing him now could set him back more, according to offensive coordinator John DeFilippo. Bowe was inactive in the season opener and again in Week 3 despite not being on the injury report all week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Browns have no intentions of cutting Bowe right now and insist that he will factor into their plans at some point this year.

PHI - WR Nelson Agholor grinding it out

Source: Philadelphia Daily News - Les Bowen

Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor is grinding his way through similar to how WR Jordan Matthews did early in the 2014 season, according to offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matthews only had three catches for 44 yards over the first two games of his rookie season. However, in Week 3 of 2014 Matthews had a eight catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns. We haven't seen that explosion from Agholor--and we may not if Sam Bradford doesn't start taking some deep shots.

TEN - WR Dorial Green-Beckham still being eased in
    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt
Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham will continue to be eased into the offense, according to head coach Ken Wisenhunt. 'I think the one thing you have to be careful about is overloading him, because right now he is on a good track. He is making progress and we are excited about seeing him make these plays, Wisenhunt said. “But if you think you can just put him in for 82 snaps, it is going to be a problem, so you just don’t want to see him take a step back.”
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
You can see the big-time talent that Green-Beckham has. From a pure natural talent standpoint, Green-Beckham may be a top-10 player at his position. As the season goes on, we could see him mixed in more than just the red-zone target that he is now. The Titans have a robust passing game, and rookie QB Marcus Mariota has scored the 7th-most fantasy points of any passer this year. Stash Green-Beckham if you've got the space on your bench.

    Thursday Update

NFL - Possibility Of Postponing Philadelphia - Washington Game

    Source: John Breech - CBSSports

If Hurricane Joaquin makes its way to the East Coast this weekend, the nasty weather could force the NFL to postpone Sunday's game between the Eagles and Redskins that's scheduled to be played at FedEx Field.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

IND - QB Andrew Luck day-to-day

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is listed as day-to-day after being limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30, but head coach Chuck Pagano said he has 'supreme confidence' that Luck will play in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Luck fully expects to play Sunday, Oct. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Luck has been taking a beating as a pro. The Colts need to do a better job of protecting their number one asset. He has never missed a snap in a game due to injury in his career but was sacked three times and hit four more times in Week 3. Luck has been sacked 105 times in his career.

HOU - RB Arian Foster must practice fully

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) must go through a full practice before he is cleared to play in a game, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's getting close people. Foster practiced again Wednesday, Sept. 30, but it's unclear if it was in full or a limited session.

CHI - QB Jay Cutler limited Wednesday

    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30, according to head coach John Fox. Fox said Cutler looked good and had a good day of practice after missing Week 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Originally, Cutler had been expected to miss a minimum of two games. Cutler must prove he can avoid the rush and escape the pocket before he'll be allowed to return. This week against the Raiders, his playing status is up in the air.

PHI - RB DeMarco Murray limited again

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No word on Murray's status for Sunday against Washington. If he doesn't play, then Ryan Mathews will see a bump in his fantasy value. If Murray does play, then he could split time in a RBBC with Mathews.

BAL - Crockett Gilmore out for Week 4

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore (calf) has been ruled out for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Gillmore out, the team will turn to rookie Maxx Williams. He was our favorite tight end in this year's draft class, and his play in college at Minnesota reminded us of a young Jason Witten.

ARI - RB Andre Ellington limited

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ellington is getting closer to a return to the field. In the meantime, it sounds like Chris Johnson has earned a larger role with his play when Ellington is back.

STL - WR Kenny Britt does not practice

St. Louis Rams WR Kenny Britt (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In a tough matchup against the Cardinals, we can't recommend Britt as anything more than a "what the heck" flex play in Week 4.

NYJ - WR Eric Decker may not play

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Eric Decker's (knee) status isn't certain for Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. Head coach Todd Bowles said he's not sure if Decker will play. Decker did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep Decker on your bench. At this time, fantasy owners need to approach Week 4 like Decker is not playing in London against the Dolphins early on Sunday morning.

IND - TE Dwayne Allen not practicing

    Source: NFL.com

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We may see Allen shut down this week. That would lead to more opportunity for Coby Fleener on Sunday against the Jaguars.

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

This is a good sign for Lacy's availability in Week 4. The Packers are on the road this week against the 49ers.

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (hamstring) is day-to-day with a hamstring injury that has kept him out since Week 1.

Jackson is getting closer, but he may not quite be ready. See how he practices on Friday before considering him for your lineup.

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (ribs) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

MIN - WR Charles Johnson may be questionable

    Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan

Minnesota Vikings WR Charles Johnson (rib) is considered questionable for the Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos because he is dealing with a painful injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rib injuries always come down to pain tolerance. Don't start Johnson if he plays against a tough Broncos defense.

CAR - RB Jonathan Stewart on the sidelines

    Source: Panthers.com

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (leg) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The matchup against the poor Buccaneers defense is a sweet one, but will Stewart be able to take advantage? Consider him a RB2/flex play due to this injury, but the upside is there for him to have 100 yards and a touchdown on Sunday.

BUF - No practice for WR Percy Harvin

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin (hip) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Harvin is a player who needs his practice reps monitored. Check back to see if he can practice later in the week.

GB - WR Davante Adams in walking boot

    Source: ESPNWisconsin.com - Jason Wilde

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (ankle) was sporting a walking boot Wednesday, Sept. 30, but said he has a regular ankle sprain, not a high-ankle sprain.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's not what you want to hear if you're an Adams owner. If it's not a high-ankle sprain, then he's likely to have a quicker return. A walking boot on Wednesday does not bode well for his availability on Sunday against the 49ers.

NYJ - RB Chris Ivory limited Wednesday

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (quadriceps) participated in practice in a limited capacity Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ivory could have played last week, but the Jets kept him off the field. This week, he should return...but he's likely to be in some form of RBBC with Bilal Powell.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz in doubt for Sunday

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Dan Graziano

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) is now in doubt to return in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills after aggravating a left calf issue in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Well, that's a bucket of cold water on Cruz's potential return. This calf injury has been problematic, and it could be several more games before he returns to the lineup. It was Cruz's first practice since Aug. 17.

Colts QB Andrew Luck threw a little before practice today but the Colts shut him down for the day, per league source. It is unlikely Luck throws much, or at all, before Sunday. Luck is now considered legitimately questionable to play Sunday vs Jaguars. Another factor in the Colts' decision will be that they will play again Thursday night against the Texans.

    Friday Update

PHI - RB DeMarco Murray to be game-time decision

    Source: ESPN.com - Phil Sheridan

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray (hamstring) will be a game-time decision in Week 4 against the Washington Redskins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners take note here. Murray missed Week 3 and has only 11 yards on 21 carries in two weeks this year. If Murray doesn't play, we like Ryan Mathews as a low-end RB2 with upside in Week 4 against Washington.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy, WR Sammy Watkins ruled out

Source: New York Post - Bart Hubbuch

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and WR Sammy Watkins (calf) will not play in Week 4 against the New York Giants.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Those are two significant blows to the offense, though Karlos Williams is a tremendous alternative and an RB1. The net impact is Percy Harvin is a borderline WR2/3 and Charles Clay a very good TE1 play.

NYG - WR Victor Cruz to have another MRI

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Kieran Darcy

New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf), who has already been ruled out for Week 4 after suffering a setback in practice Wednesday, Sept. 30, will go for another MRI exam. There is no timetable for Cruz's return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We wouldn't be shocked to hear something else is up with Cruz. The team was talking about Week 1 or 2 and here we are in Week 4 and he's not close. If you have him on your roster, it might be time to rectify that.

NO - Limited practice for WR Brandin Cooks

    Source: NFL

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) had a limited practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Questions about the quarterback and the overall dysfunction of the offense hold Cooks' value down to a very nice WR3 play.

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch does not practice

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's possible Lynch could miss this week. Watch to see if he's able to work Friday. If Lynch misses, Thomas Rawls will get the start, though it's hard to completely trust him behind an offensive line that was giving Lynch issues. Consider him a high end RB3.

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown has a very high ceiling, and his overall has been exceptional. A big game is coming and meanwhile, he should be good for a solid WR2.

DAL - RB Christine Michael to see some action?

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr.

Dallas Cowboys RB Christine Michael took repetitions with the first-team offense in practice this week and is being prepared for game-day duty in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints. The Cowboys are trying to find a way to carry four running backs on their active roster including RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar. Michael spend the first few weeks in Dallas learning the offense while on the scout team. Michael brings size and a physical style to the run game that the other backs on the team do not. He could serve as the hammer with the Saints expected to use plenty of eight- and nine-man fronts with QB Brandon Weeden at the helm.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Michael has a lot to prove after some lackluster chances in Seattle. The pecking order in Dallas' backfield is cloudy, so we wouldn't drop him in the lineup unless you're desperate until we see what he has to offer.

HOU - RB Arian Foster limited

    Source: NFL

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We want to see Foster fully practice before trusting him in the lineup. If he doesn't play against the Falcons this week, then Alfred Blue becomes a RB2/flex option for your fantasy team.

CHI - WR Alshon Jeffery has limited practice

    Source: NFL

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

    Source: NFL

Minnesota Vikings WR Charles Johnson (rib) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Against the Broncos defense, we're not starting any Vikings except Adrian Peterson or Kyle Rudolph. If Johnson plays, we wouldn't start him and even Mike Wallace is more of a "what the heck" flex on the road against Denver.

IND - QB Andrew Luck limited Thursday

    Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

During the media portion of practice, Luck was merely handing off the ball. This whole situation is mysterious, and one to watch for fantasy owners. We love the matchup against the Jaguars this week, and if Luck is playing then he needs to be in your lineup.

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (ankle) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The offensive line, the offensive struggles and Martin's own issues relegate him to an RB4 status at best.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We don't expect him to miss the game, and the Falcons are just trying to be cautious. He should put up WR1 numbers this week yet again, although they might be merely ridiculous as opposed to astronomical.

JAX - RB Denard Robinson remains out

    Source: Jaguars.com

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We still think Robinson could be the more dynamic back in Jacksonville, but he can't stay healthy right now. Yeldon should be a solid RB3 play against t he Colts this weekend though and has some decent upside.

CLE - QB Johnny Manziel has plays ready

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel has plays prepared for Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers, but the team insists QB Josh McCown is still their guy. 'To say we don't have plays ready for Johnny Manziel against the San Diego Chargers, I'd be lying to you,' general manager John DeFilippo said. 'OK? I'd be lying to you. So you never know. We may use them and we may not. Josh is our guy. There's no doubt in my mind.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Everyone outside of the Browns facility thinks Manziel should get a shot while he's hot but the team isn't convinced. Still, he'll be ready in case McCown does what McCown does so well and struggles. McCown is no more than a QB3, and we would avoid him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on Decker, as he could be a sneaky WR play if he is good to go. Of course, unless he has a full practice it will be hard to avoid concern about the knee flaring up again mid-game. If he plays, he could emerge as a solid WR2 this week.

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (quadriceps) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 1, and he looks like he'll play in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Good news for a Jets run game which definitely wasn't the same without Ivory. We like Ivory as an RB2 against a suspect Miami run defense.

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person
Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (leg) is out of practice Thursday, Oct. 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Keep an eye on reports tomorrow as missing today is one thing - missing Friday as well would raise the concern level. Stewart briefly left the game against New Orleans this past week and while we are not overly concerned, two missed practices would certainly put the week in doubt. Fozzy Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne will split duties though neither one is really worth a play.

PHI - QB Sam Bradford sticking to game plan
Source: Philadelphia Daily News - Les Bowen
Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford was quizzed on why the team's offense hasn't produced many big plays, and Bradford said the ball is going where it is supposed to go. 'I think a lot of it is the way we're trying to attack defenses right now,' said Bradford, whose figure of 5.8 yards per pass attempt ranks 37th among 41 passers charted by the NFL. 'The ball goes where it's supposed to go. That's what we've been calling and that's what's been given to us.' Bradford is 0-for-5 on balls thrown at least 20 yards this season, which is worst in the league, according to ESPN. 'Listen to the play call. Take what's there. You can't try to force anything,' Bradford said. 'When you try to force it to someone, and you make an extra effort to get someone the football, sometimes you run yourself into problems, because you skip over progressions trying to get someone the ball. I think you've just got to stay disciplined in your reads. The ball goes where it's supposed to go.'
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bradford is being a generic robot. Players are getting open deep, but Bradford is okay with dumping off short passes. We're not excited by this passing game unless and until Bradford starts taking more chances as a passer.

    Saturday Update

IND - QB Andrew Luck limited again Friday

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Wells

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited for the third straight day in practice Friday, Oct. 2, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. However, Luck wasn't on the field in the portion of practice open to the media. Luck is questionable for Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Colts will take into account the fact that they play on a short week against the Houston Texans next Thursday. QB Matt Hasselbeck would start in Luck's place if he doesn't play.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's time to start thinking about this game as if Hasselbeck will start. That means downgrades for TY Hilton, Donte Moncrief, Frank Gore, and Coby Fleener.

ARI - RB Andre Ellington should play

    Source: AZCardinals.com

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (knee) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 2, and is probable for Week 4 against the St. Louis Rams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ellington will play, but not start. Earlier in the week his conditions was characterized as being fine at speed in a straight line but still working on the stopping and changing direction. He should be on your bench this week, but any talented piece of this offense has great speculative value.

HOU - RB Arian Foster sheds positive light

    Source: ESPN.com - Tania Ganguli

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) said his surgeon told him the best rehab for his groin injury is getting out there and playing. Foster said he'll see how he feels Sunday, Oct. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It seems slightly more likely than not that Foster will play this weekend, but the extent he'll play is unknown, and could even be determined in game. He's a risky start if he's active and Alfred Blue is a risky start, rendering the Houston backfield not very useful unless Foster is ruled out.

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch sits out again

    Source: Seahawks.com

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Lynch is 50/50 for Monday night, he's on the lower 50 side. Thomas Rawls is looking like a solid flex or even RB2 at least with Lynch probably unlikely to assume his full load even if he is active.

MIN - WR Charles Johnson will not play

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Charles Johnson (rib) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and has been ruled out for the Week 4 game against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cordarrelle Patterson and Adam Thielen should get more work with Johnson out and Jarius Wright very questionable for Sunday's game at Denver.

HOU - RB Jonathan Grimes ruled out

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans RB Jonathan Grimes (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and has been ruled out for the Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans did not add another running back to the roster, so there's a possible sign that Arian Foster will indeed be active on Sunday vs. Atlanta.

GB - WR Davante Adams a question mark

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams (ankle) did not practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 2, but is questionable for Week 4 against the San Francisco 49ers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams is almost certainly out. James Jones is set up for another big day.

TB - RB Doug Martin listed as questionable

    Source: Buccaneers.com

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (knee, quadriceps) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as questionable for the Week 4 game against the Carolina Panthers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Martin is still looking sharper than last year, but this line and offense isn't going to give him opportunities for big games while he's sharing with Charles Sims.

ARI - WR John Brown iffy for Week 4

    Source: AZCardinals.com

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (shoulder) was limited in practice for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 2, and he is questionable for Week 4 against the St. Louis Rams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There are no obvious signs Brown won't play, but seeing as this is a late game, check back on Sunday morning to make sure there is no buzz of him being out before leaving him in your lineup.

NO - WR Brandin Cooks expected to play

    Source: NewOrleansSaints.com

New Orleans Saints WR Brandin Cooks (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 2, and is probable for Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drew Brees return can only help Cooks, but he has been mostly a non-factor to this point. If Brees shoulder woes keep the deep game in check, this will be a disappointing year for Cooks.

DET - RB Joique Bell sits out again

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) did not practice again Friday, Oct. 2, and is in danger of missing Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Oct. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ameer Abdullah and Zach Zenner could get a shot to evict Bell for good with a big Monday night at Seattle. Bell appears to offering little to the offense, so the rookies will be in the spotlight.

CLE - Probable status for QB Josh McCown

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (hand) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 2, and is probable for Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCown will start this week, but another poor outing and loss and the calls for Johnny Manziel (or Austin Davis) will get louder.

CLE - WR Travis Benjamin will be ready

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Travis Benjamin (ribs) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 2, and is probable for Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin is a risky start with Josh McCown because his deep ball is suspect, but if the Browns make a quarterback change, he could turn into the rare consistent deep targets.

SD - TE Ladarius Green questionable

    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 2, but is listed as questionable for Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There's no word yet whether he has been cleared after his second concussion this year, but this is a good sign.

SD - Friday injury report for Week 4

    Source: Chargers.com

San Diego Chargers S Jahleel Addae (ankle), OG Orlando Franklin (ankle), WR Jacoby Jones (ankle), CB Craig Mager (hamstring) and LB Tourek Williams (foot) have been ruled out for Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns. OT King Dunlap (concussion) and C Chris Watt (groin) are doubtful. OT D.J. Fluker (ankle, chest) and CB Jason Verrett (foot) are questionable, while CB Brandon Flowers (knee) and OG Chris Hairston (ankle, knee) are probable. Franklin, Jones, Mager, Williams, Dunlap and Watt did not practice Friday, Oct. 2. Addae, Fluker and Verrett were limited, while the others practiced in full.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers offensive line is decimated. This might be a good week to err on the side of benching Chargers except maybe Danny Woodhead, Stevie Johnson and Keenan Allen in PPR leagues, since they are short range targets.

PHI - RB DeMarco Murray's status in question

    Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as questionable for the Week 4 game against the Washington Redskins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray should play, although he's in a three-back committee that is trending the wrong way for him. This could be another disappointing week for his owners.

ATL - RB Devonta Freeman should play in Week 4

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman (toe) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is listed as probable for the Week 4 game against the Houston Texans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Freeman is a strong RB2 start while Tevin Coleman is out.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson remains starter

Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (concussion) will remain the starting running back, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak said Anderson had a good practice Thursday, Oct. 1, and needs to make plays and make guys miss.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson's the starter, but not necessarily a true feature back or #1 until he starts to play like one. Getting dinged up in every game has made Anderson tough to trust against Minnesota this week.

NO - QB Drew Brees expected to go in Week 4

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (shoulder) is expected to start in Week 4, according to head coach Sean Payton. Payton said Brees throwing Thursday, Oct. 1, sealed their decision.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's tough to recommend starting Brees without knowing how his shoulder issue will affect his play, but this is a positive development for his owners and the Saints offense.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy admits setback

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) said he hurt his hamstring again Thursday, Sept. 24. McCoy said he 'messed something up and kind of hurt it again.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This could easily be a multi-week absence for McCoy. Karlos Williams is there to fire up as strong RB2 while McCoy is out.

NYJ - WR Eric Decker questionable for Week 4

    Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and is questionable for Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Decker will be a game time decision. With the Jets bye around the corner, they may find it beneficial to let Decker have three straight weeks of rest and hopefully have no complications upon his return.

IND - TE Dwayne Allen practices

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Stephen Holder

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) was at practice Friday, Oct. 2, and he has a chance to play in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen isn't advisable to start until we see how he plays. He wasn't himself coming back from an ankle injury in the second half of last season. If Andrew Luck isn't playing, it doesn't really matter anyway. Allen is borderline droppable.

CHI - WR Alshon Jeffery out Week 4

    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) will miss his third straight game in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery is one of many cautionary tales about teams rushing back a player from a soft tissue injury too early and inducing another injury. The Bears are going to be a sad state even when Jeffery does return, and it's hard to imagine him returning the draft capital spent even once he's back.

So Sam Bradford is 0 for 5 on throws over 20 yards this season. Bet on Eagles and/or play their wide receivers at your own risk.

    Sunday Update

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch a game-time decision

    Source: Seahawks.com

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) will be a game-time decision Monday, Oct. 5, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas Rawls to the courtesy phone please. We saw the undrafted rookie rush for over 100 yards last week, and he could be the answer for the Seahawks again this week...but this time on Monday night against the Lions.

BAL - WR Steve Smith has four broken ribs

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (ribs) is dealing with four broken ribs, but it is not considered a long-term injury, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rib injuries come down to pain tolerance. Smith is one of the toughest players in the game, but his status for Week 5 against the Browns is up in the air. The Ravens don't have a bye until Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

IND - TE Dwayne Allen expects to play

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (ankle) expects to play in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is listed as questionable with an ankle injury.

We're not going to Allen as a TE1 this week. Have other options even though it looks like he's going to play.

DET - RB Zach Zenner opportunity?

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions RB Zach Zenner could be in for a bigger role Monday, Oct. 5, against the Seattle Seahawks with RB Joique Bell (ankle) out. Bell did not practice Saturday, Oct. 3, and will miss the Lions' Week 4 outing. Head coach Jim Caldwell gave Zenner a vote of confidence, saying if Zenner does play, he won't have any problem knowing what he's doing.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're excited to see what Zenner can do. He's a good all-purpose runner and fine receiver out of the backfield. The team will be playing without Bell, and rookie Ameer Abdullah may be best suited as a change-of-pace back only.

TB - RB Doug Martin ready to play

    Source: PewterReport.com - Eric Horchy

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (knee, quadriceps) said he feels good and is ready to play Sunday, Oct. 4, against the Carolina Panthers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He's a low-end RB2 this week against a tough Panthers defense. Martin said he nicked his knee in practice Thursday, Oct. 2, but that he'll be perfect for the Week 4 contest.

STL - WR Brian Quick expected to play

    Source: StLouisRams.com - Myles Simmons

St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick is expected to be active for the Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals after a solid week of practice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Chris Givens getting traded to the Baltimore Ravens, it could create a small opportunity for Quick. We'll be interested to see how he looks if he's active for the first game this year. The shoulder injury he suffered last year was once thought of as possibly being career-ending.

BAL - WR Chris Givens acquired

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

St. Louis Rams WR Chris Givens was traded to the Baltimore Ravens Saturday, Oct. 3. It is not known what the Rams will receive in return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens needed help at the wide receiver position, and that's why they make the move here. Michael Campanaro is out for the year, rookie Breshad Perriman is still coming back from an injury and now Steve Smith Sr. has a back/ribs injury and is considered day-to-day. Over three games this year, Givens has played only 50 snaps with one rush for 24 yards and one catch for seven yards. It's been all downhill for the speedy receiver since his breakout rookie season of 2012 when he snared 42 catches for 698 yards and three touchdowns. We'll see if he can quickly carve out a role with his new team.

    Monday Update

SEA - RB Marshawn Lynch out for Week 4

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Updating previous reports, Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (hamstring) has been declared out for Week 4's game against the Detroit Lions, following the team's walkthrough Sunday, Oct. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas Rawls becomes a solid RB2 and Fred Jackson a flex play on this news. Lynch is no sure thing for Week 5 at Cincinnati either.

HOU - QB Ryan Mallett benched during Week 4

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Zac Jackson

Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett was benched in favor of QB Brian Hoyer during Week 4's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Mallett went 12-for-37 for 150 yards and one interception before giving way to Hoyer, who was 17-for-30 with 232 yards and two touchdowns.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At least this quarterback woes aren't dragging down the stock of DeAndre Hopkins, who went off in garbage time. The Texans need Arian Foster to be his old self Thursday night against Indianapolis.

CHI - RB Matt Forte on the trade block?

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte is a player the Bears are willing to listen to trade offers for, but the asking price is believed to be high at the moment, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Teams like Indianapolis, Baltimore, and Denver come to mind right away as potential trade partners. We often project NFL trades like it is one of our fantasy leagues, but this trade rumor passes the sniff test. Jeremy Langford is a good preemptive pickup in deep leagues as the potential starter if Forte is shipped out.

    Source: The Associated Press

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray had eight carries for 36 yards and two catches for 12 yards in a 23-20 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 4, and after the game, Murray said he was not being given enough touches.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray is just one of a three-headed committee despite being paid like a #1. He had one 30 yard run but was otherwise held in check. He's only a flex play with the Saints coming to town.

SD - Stevie Johnson limps off

    Source: CBS Sports - Television

San Diego Chargers WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) limped off the field in the third quarter of the Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns due to an apparent right hamstring injury. As he walked to the sidelines he appeared to be grabbing the back of his right leg.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson's injury leaves the Chargers with two healthy wide receivers, Keenan Allen and Dontrelle Inman. Danny Woodhead and Ladarius Green should get a lot of targets from here on out.

SD - QB Philip Rivers leads the way

    Source: The Associated Press

San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 23 of 38 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-27 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rivers was shorthanded on the offensive line and the wide receiver corps, but he still had a huge game. The Browns pass defense is one to exploit, and the Ravens, who have a wide receiver shortage of their own, will draw them next. Rivers gets the Steelers defense on Monday night in a good matchup for him and the Chargers.

KC - WR Jeremy Maclin stays hot

    Source: The Associated Press

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin had 11 catches for 148 yards in a 36-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Maclin is a target hog in this offense that has no other proven wide receivers. The touchdowns might be rare, but this kind of target volume can make Maclin a near WR1 in PPR leagues without scores. Next week against the Bears should be another high point for him.

KC - RB Jamaal Charles piles up yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles had 11 carries for 75 yards and six catches for 70 yards in a 36-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Charles got a little dinged up in the first half, but he was explosive on all of his touches. The Chiefs couldn't find the end zone and he was a still a good start. Next week against the Bears should be another strong game for Charles.

CIN - RB Giovani Bernard heads backfield

    Source: The Associated Press

Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard had a team-high 13 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown in a 36-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bernard was one yard from a second score late and he was also the trusted back late in the game. He did not have a reception for the first time in his career.

CIN - RB Jeremy Hill scores three times

    Source: The Associated Press

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill had nine carries for 40 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill wasn't that much better on his carries that weren't on goal to go downs, but his size and stubborn determination came in handy there. The quality of the Bengals offense will keep Hill's ceiling in RB1 land, but the low volume shows you the floor where we've been the last two weeks. The Bengals also went to Giovani Bernard for the most part in the fourth quarter.

NYJ - WR Eric Decker back to the end zone

    Source: The Associated Press

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee) posted four receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins in London. He was targeted five times.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Decker wasn't a sure thing to play, and he looked good on his limited targets. He's a nice WR3/Flex going into his bye.

NYJ - WR Brandon Marshall continues to produce

    Source: The Associated Press

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall hauled in seven receptions for 128 yards in the Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins in London. Marshall was targeted a team-high 11 times.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall is an everyweek start now. He and Ryan Fitzpatrick are definitely on the same page, including in deep passing game.

NYJ - RB Bilal Powell injures groin in win

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (groin) left the Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins in London due to a groin injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Chris Ivory could get a true feature back workload if this is a multi-week issue for Powell. At least the bye is up next.

WAS - RB Matt Jones struggles in Week 4

    Source: The Associated Press

Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones had seven carries for 11 yards in a 23-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington is going to use all three of their backs. Jones has the most upside, but the split workload and the low overall quality of the offense with its quarterback issues will limit Jones to a what the heck flex unless injuries strike the backfield.

NYJ - RB Chris Ivory runs wild in London

    Source: The Associated Press

New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (quadriceps) rushed 29 times for 166 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 win against the Miami Dolphins in London. He did not have any receptions, although he was targeted twice.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ivory was a beast in this game, running hot and almost always breaking or eluding the attempt of the first tackler he encountered. Ivory is over his maladies, and whatever residual effects this workload would cause can heal during the bye. We're back to being as excited about him as we were after Week 1 following the short injury detour.

MIA - RB Lamar Miller non-productive yet again

    Source: The Associated Press

Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller carried seven times for just 26 yards in the Week 4 game against the New York Jets in London, and he added one reception for 10 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller looked fine but once again was never given a chance to get in a rhythm in terms of touches or snaps. Hopefully there's a new coach on the other side of the bye who recognizes Miller's talent and need to be used more in this offense. Don't bail on him just yet.

MIA - WR Greg Jennings, WR Rishard Matthews silent

    Source: The Associated Press

Miami Dolphins WRs Greg Jennings and Rishard Matthews did little in Week 4 against the New York Jets in London. Jennings had three receptions for just 15 yards on seven targets, while Matthews hauled in just one ball for 16 yards on three targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matthews had an appearance of some consistent value after Weeks 2 and 3, but like the rest of the Dolphins players not named Landry, he can't be trusted in your lineup.

MIA - WR Kenny Stills posts 81 yards, score

    Source: The Associated Press

Miami Dolphins WR Kenny Stills posted team highs with five receptions, 81 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 game against the New York Jets in London.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stills finally did something when it mattered least and after redraft owners had moved on. We'll monitor his play coming out of the bye, but he's not worth a roster spot again yet.

MIA - WR Jarvis Landry leads team in rushing

    Source: The Associated Press

Miami Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry had four receptions for 40 yards in the Week 4 game against the New York Jets in London, and he was targeted a game-high 12 times. Landry also led the team in rushing with two carries for 29 yards.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Landry is the only safe haven in this offense, and only in PPR leagues. Hopefully he and the rest of the Dolphins will see their tide rise with a coaching change during the bye.

WAS - RB Alfred Morris leads the backfield

    Source: The Associated Press

Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris had a team-high 17 carries for 62 yards and two catches for three yards in a 23-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington stayed true to the idea that Morris was their lead back, but they weren't any more successful in the running game. Matt Jones was even less effective, so Morris at least has flex value heading to Atlanta next week.

PHI - QB Sam Bradford fires three TDs

    Source: The Associated Press

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford completed 15 of 28 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns in a 23-20 loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bradford finally threw deep, and the defense seemed as surprised as we were. He's still just borderline rosterworthy with his early struggles, but next week against the Saints is a good matchup for Cam Newton owners needing bye coverage.

CHI - TE Martellus Bennett busy in Week 4

    Source: The Associated Press

Chicago Bears TE Martellus Bennett had 11 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown in a 22-20 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Start your tight ends against Oakland. All four have had at least one score and a season high in yards when facing the Raiders. Next week Bennett goes to Kansas City while Owen Daniels gets the joy of facing Oakland.

CHI - RB Matt Forte carries the load

    Source: The Associated Press

Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte had 25 carries for 91 yards and four catches for 64 yards in a 22-20 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Forte was strong in a game that could have been showing him off for potential trade partners. Stay tuned here because it makes all the sense in the world for the Bears to turn Forte into a draft pick.

TB - RB Doug Martin tops 100 yards

    Source: The Associated Press

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin had 20 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown and five catches for 37 yards in a 37-23 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Martin was able to break out even though it was a long day for the Bucs offense. He should be featured against the Jaguars next week and give you a solid RB2 play.

ATL - WR Leonard Hankerson has big game

    Source: The Associated Press

Atlanta Falcons WR Leonard Hankerson had six catches for a team-high 103 yards and a touchdown in a 48-21 win over the Houston Texans in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hankerson is clearly the #2 wide receiver no matter what the starting lineup is in Atlanta. He is making plays and getting more comfortable every week. Hankerson is worth owning in typical leagues with Julio Jones being the preoccupation of opposing defenses.

ATL - WR Julio Jones held in check

    Source: The Associated Press

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones had four catches for 38 yards in a 48-21 win over the Houston Texans in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones day was short-circuited by the Falcons jumping out to a huge lead and Devonta Freeman finishing drives. He's still the gold standard at wide receiver for as long as Ben Roethlisberger is out.

HOU - Busy day for WR DeAndre Hopkins

    Source: The Associated Press

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins had nine catches on 22 targets for 157 yards in a 48-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopkins was quiet until the game got out of hand, but all the points count the same. He has been a garbage time all-star twice, but with the return of Arian Foster, Houston game might become more low scoring and competitive.

IND - QB Matt Hasselbeck strong in relief

Source: The Associated Press - Michael Marot

Indianapolis Colts QB Matt Hasselbeck was solid in relief of QB Andrew Luck (shoulder), as he threw for 282 yards and one touchdown in a 16-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hasselbeck kept Donte Moncrief and T.Y. Hilton viable as fantasy plays and seemed to really click with Coby Fleener. If Hasselbeck starts and Dwayne Allen is inactive against on Thursday, Fleener will be a good start.
