Dolphins Still Uncertain of Fate of Mike Wallace

I thought it was a no-brainer that Miami would cut him given his huge cap hit and the fact that he quit on the team a couple of times last season, but apparently he has some support from the front office.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are still "genuinely uncertain" about Mike Wallace's future with the team.

Per reporter Barry Jackson, there is front-office support for keeping Wallace, but "the cap hit is an issue." Owed $32.9 million over the next three seasons, Wallace comes with a $12.1 million cap number for 2015. That's steep for a team that's apparently all in on free agent Ndamukong Suh. On the other hand, Miami has already cut Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson, and isn't entirely assured of keeping transition player Charles Clay. Cutting Wallace is far from a no-brainer.

$12.1 mil for 2015. No way they keep him. I see them waiting to the last minute to cut him. That way it makes it a little more difficult to catch on to another team. The stunt he pulled at the end of last year hopefully costs him some $.

WR is becoming disposable, like RB. Look at the WRs for SEA and NE. WR output doesn't require big coin anymore.

    not true.

If cam newton had 2 good WR's Panthers would win the Super Bowl.

    Seahawks only weakness was WR.

I disagree, Big Bear. Benjamin played really well and they had another solid pass catcher in TE Olson. Another WR wouldn't change a thing for them. Their O-line was nonexistant and secondary was mediocre at best, imho. They are long way from superbowl at the moment. They even got into playoffs, just because their division was so bad.

All these teams sign these WRs for big money hoping they will change their team when it is the QB that makes the WR in most situations

Yep. It's a QB league. Every penny should be spent supporting the QB and/or attacking the opposing QB.

That's the problem with guys like Harvin/BM/Wallace, etc. Do they really support a QB that much?

I'd rather spend that kind of coin on some great o-line guys or maybe some DLs that can attack a QB.

and this is why the rams are not legit sb contenders. wanting tannehill shows how bad bradford has been due to injuries and the fact he won't throw downfield ever when he is upright.

Speaking Tuesday, Mike Wallace hinted he's open to a restructure.

"I’ll definitely help the team out, but it has to be reasonable — what I feel is reasonable." Wallace declined to say what he felt was reasonable. "Like I said, I’m not about to do something too crazy. I still have a family that comes first." Wallace isn't believed to be open to a pay cut. At this point, it's hard to see any meaningful alterations being made to his contract for 2015.
