Pop is the best coach in the NBA. Pretty sure that is mutual all around, but who is everyone's 2nd best?

    Carlisle would be mine.

Very True. For them to win it all at with an aging bunch last year was more difficult than people think

Pop is ahead of the curve man. Resting yours stars is smart, keeps them fresher for playoffs and also gives the bench guys important reps during the regular season so they will be ready when called upon in the playoffs. Also gives him a chance to look at different lineup combinations to try out.

He did coach Stephen Jackson for a stint. Booted his ass of the team too.

    He makes
    Mistakes like everyone

    Richard Jefferson
    Tracy McGrady (huge overrated
    Loser)

But the mistakes are less costly then say signing josh
Smith to a gazillion dollar contract

A loser huh? Coach Poppovich is only the ninth NBA coach to get 1,000 wins and he did it wit the same team the San Antonio Spurs!

Go crawl back under your rock you loser.

Popovich was asked about that fateful night before collecting win No. 1000 in dramatic fashion against the Indiana Pacers on Monday.

"You know, you say that sarcastically but it’s a true story," he said, according to Scott Agness of Vigilant Sports. "It’s a true story. I loved the way Scot played. Timmy was really smooth and all that and so I wondered, 'Is that going to translate. Is he going to be tough. Is he going to do what he did … he’s long and he’s lengthy and he’s thin.' Scot Pollard was out there kicking you-know-what and taking names.

Never knew this. How things almost could have been different.
That instantly made me lose 90% of my respect for Pop, because without Duncan he would not have achieved a tenth of what he has achieved. And if he indeed drafted Pollard the then spurs would continue to suck and Pop might have been fired after a couple of unsucessful seasons. And it's not like Pollard was drafted at No.2 or No.3, he was eventually drafted at No.19, that means other than Pop no other general manager ever even considered Pollard as being remotely close to being a great NBA player, which proved to be right. That might have topped Olawokandi and Kawme Brown as the worst No 1 pick of all time and it was that close to actually happening.

Yep you are right Popps has had great talent but that comes from the Spurs organization with their recruiting and scouting these guys from high school.

Give credit where credit is due.

The owner of the Spurs Mr. Holt is a Vietnam war veteran.
