Pau Gasol is Nearing a Deal with the Bulls

IF it gets done, it just about guarantees Carmelo goes back to the Knicks.

Washington.....Cleveland...Chicago....In diana will be the top 4 teams in the Eastern Conference.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Phoenix Suns be a 55+ win team this year with the addition of Iasiah Thomas Jr. In the western conference.

San Antonio would be great. Gives Duncan an even smaller regular season workload. Both would avg 24 minutes a game.

Bulls have too much front court power. Not enough backcourt shooting.

Great move for Chicago as he will put them over the top and make them a very viable threat

Yeah east could be getting more interesting in next year or two. Obviously with a healthy Rose and if they add Gasol the Bulls will still be right up there with Cavs and Indy as faves. Kinda like some of the young blood teams tho that could be exciting and make some noise Raps, Wizards and I'm really looking forward to seeing Charlotte as well!

Nearing means nothing. Until shit gets done, I don't believe anything anymore. If Bulls sign Gasol, it has to be a precursor to other moves. Just doesn't make sense otherwise. I guess it wouldn't rule out Carmelo. What if Pau signs with current cap space and then the Bulls used Gibson in a S&T along with Boozer and picks to the Knicks for Melo. Boozer + Gibson = 25 mil so Carmelo could get his money.

    Rose
    Butler
    Melo
    Gasol
    Noah

Not sure if Mirotic would fit in or would also be dealt to NY.

Bulls could also toss in Dunleavy and take back J.R. Smith.

    Knicks get: Boozer (16.9, 1 yr), Dunleavy (3.3, 1 yr), Taj Gibson (8.5, 3 years) and a #1 pick
Bulls get: Melo (25 mil) and J.R. Smith (5 mil)

Knicks get Smith off the books and after next season are left with Taj and a pick.
    Bulls have:
    Rose Hinrich
    Butler J.R Smith
    Carmelo McDermott
    Gasol Mirotic
    Noah Gasol

San Antonio would be a much better choice....much better. Less mins better chance in the playoffs no state income tax play for coach pop etc etc pay is soft as charmin tissue paper spurs brand of basketball a much better fit IMOIMO

Spurs only have the mid-level (5.35) to offer.
    - What makes you think he wants less minutes?
    - better chance in playoffs? debatable
    - income tax? Hardly matter if the contract is half as big
    - Coach Thibs

Spurs just won title. It's just not the same. I'd never want to go into a situation like that. A title would be the same, anything less a disappointment. Winning in Chicago much better.

I believe they can trade Mirotic's rights, but if the Bulls sign him, then he can't be traded for something like 30 days. I think Gasol is the Bulls plan C. They believe Melo is signing with NY and need to move forward. It would be nice if they could move Boozer in a sign and trade for Gasol. I would rather have seen them go after an Ariza/Blatche combo in free agency along with signing Mirotic.

He's old as fukk well an old 34 not the same pau I'm a laker fan/watcher he isn't the same guy ....I've spent time in both places if I had to chose it would be SA ....lol debatable ? SA is top two team in the west without pau if they can make it by okc, clippers possibly golden st. You wouldn't want to work less? If money is an issue stay with the lakers good luck with the playoffs though and state income tax is always a factor or lack there off with these guys. You can have coach thibs....Chicago even with pau isn't winning shit your trippin

Depends on what else the Bulls do. As it stands now Doug McDermott is seemingly the starting SF with Butler at SG. No apparent backups at either spot. Something has to give. We'll see.

I am REALLY not a fan of this move, unless it turns out the Bulls amnesty Boozer as a result.

Boozer is gone....They really want someone to take him in a sign and trade, but they will amnesty him as the last resort. Boozer will not be on the Bulls roster this season.

Currently have Snell and Dunleavy off the bench, with the signing of Mirotic looming. They still need to address the back up point guard and a serviceable back up big, which becomes less of a need if they do bring in Gasol.

While I agree he probably has a better shot at a ring with the Spurs, I don't think he will play monster minutes with the Bulls. Rumor has it that the Bulls promised him a starting spot, but come 4th quarter winning time, Tibs has shown hes going with Taj and Noah. At least this way hopefully Tibs doesn't play Noah and Taj for the whole 4th quarter and wear them down.

Does anyone know if the Bulls can sign Gasol outright right now or whether they have to amnesty Boozer first?

If the Bulls can squeeze Gasol in, then what about trading Boozer for Eric Gordon?

I know Gordon has his own health issues, but I think he'd still be a good fit on the Bulls, despite his bad contract.

They did that the last season Rose was healthy. If Rose is healthy, ECF is pretty much a sure thing at a minimum.
