Weis will laugh all the way to the bank with the Notre Dame payments and Kansas payments, but he is a major fool. If he just stayed as OC of the Patriots, he would have gotten an NFL head job at some point. Instead, he just took the ND job for he money. Then, he gets back to the NFL with the Chiefs, and leaves to be OC at Florida? Then takes the Kansas job? Career suicide.

Everybody wants to be a 1 ...problem is not everybody is a 1. He was righting the ship as much as he could check recruiting 3 star and a few espn 300 kids sprinkled in is about the ceiling for Kansas. I'm not sure who they think they are or who they get better than weis but I think this is a mistake unless they have some hotshot they're bringing in. They need a Ron zook recruiter type say what you will about the x an o's but the zooker could recruit they are t winning jack shit in the big 12 without better recruits no matter who they bring in should hire an air raid guy if they can't get a recruiter.

About $19M from ND plus another $7M more from KU for not working. Sounds nice.

You have to be insane to coach Kansas.

They should have just kept Mangino

Why would a college team fire the coach mid season?

    this is not professional sports.

this move shows a lack of class.

Getting shutout by a Texas team that is horribly bad means he wasn't coaching anyway. Might as well give someone else a shot. Anyone. Hell the ball boy should be able to coach up some plays to score at least a FG.

The team wasn't competitive. Only a matter of time before kids start getting hurt. He lost the kids. Time to move on.

It's a typical move of a power conference school that sucks at a sport - they have to try to show the boosters/fan base that they will not stand for losing. He's obviously a terrible head coach and I think in general, the college game is too "different" for him. I'm sure he'll resurface in the NFL somewhere as an OC or maybe QB coach first and then OC.

That's Kansas City....not where the University of Kansas is in Lawrence. Charlie's family didn't even live in the area...the hire was doomed from the start, but the AD thought that his name would be HUGE for recruiting....it was a disaster
