Still, he has tools and would not need to be developed for NFL from scratch. We shall see.

Could be interesting if the Texans draft Clowney and trade him to the Patriots for Mallet.

I really wish that the Browns would entertain an offer for Hoyer, but it looks like he's definitely the starter, at least for this year. I do think Mallet has more potential than any of the draft picks on the board, plus he already knows the NFL way.

As a Pats fan i hope you are right but highly, highly, highly unlikely.

Mallett has size and arm to start but he comes off as a downsy.

The Texans need to do something about their QB situation, it wouldn't be a horrible idea to draft Carr in the 2nd round.

The pats will never do anything in any draft. all they do is trade around and try to find every diamond in the rough. Doesn't work everytime Bill. wtf

Patriots drafted Garoppolo. Almost guarantees Mallett is getting traded, especially since Texans have not drafted a qb.

Didn't Matt Flynn only have one career completion for 400 yards when Seattle paid him billions?

Pats drafted a QB with one of their picks yesterday so mallet days are very short now

Why would Pats put a rookie to back up Brady next year? They will keep Mallet until the new kid learns the system. Pats offense is very complicated and Belickek is a perfectionist.

Better to get something for Mallet now, he is a free agent after the year.

Pretty telling Houston has yet to take a qb AND they traded their 4th rounder. So something is up. They have an enormous hole at qb and have done nothing

Glad teams haven't reached on these bum qbs though. SEC scribe still sitting there where they should be

Saw Mallett play when he was in high school at Texas High.

Houston will draft one of the 3 SEC QB's left in the draft. No need to burn a high round pick. I like what Houston did in the draft. They need to make defense stronger first. The offense was putting up numbers last year even with Case Kanum. The defense couldn't stop anyone.

Jimmy Claussen was a badass in HS too. Things often change in a decade. Cowboys should have traded for him so they'd get a real qb.

houston can take mettenberger in the 5th round. he's far better prospect than mallet.

Savage and Mettenberger are backups at best on a bad team.

Savage is complete garbage, would rather have Boyd...at least he did well in college. Savage never amounted to anything and never will but I guess his prototypical NFL size is more important than his ineptness at actually playing the position. Guy folds under pressure and that's not gonna magically change. Hope they get Mallett for their sake.
