Ouch! Shane Vereen Needs Wrist Surgery

Sounds like he will only be out for about three weeks though. He looked poised for a breakout season after his great game vs. Buffalo, and there should still be enough time to pit up solid numbers when he gets back, barring a setback. Pats needed Vereen to barely get by Bills and they will miss his ability as a pass-catcher out of the backfield while he's out.

see what happens when you're an sbr employee. now you've got to meet posting quotas. it really dilutes your ability to pick winners.

And Vereen's unexpected news is in addition to Zach Sudfeld pulling a hamstring. There was earlier speculation that Gronk might be back for Thursday's game and now the Pats may need him with Brady running out of third down options.

They were talking about Vereen the entire off-season, about how he would serve in a Darrin Sproles / Reggie Bush type role. And he did just that in Week 1.

Well Ridley owners luck out. Nothing can be said for the David Wilson owners at the moment though. He should be fine, but for the next week eh?

Washington may get the passing down reps and Bolden and/or Blount will give Ridley a nudge. Pats need a young wr to step up and be a deep threat. Amendola and Edelman are nice complementary guys. If Gronk can't go then Brady should make a few calls to get Hernandez released on bail and keep him locked up in Gillette Hanibal Lector style until game time. He was going to be the big boy on offense this season. Oh well.

you could put mother teresa in there as long as the OL blocks for her. running backs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. and the QB makes the receivers not the other way around. not hard to catch a football if you're wide open and then run for the sidelines. if wagering, always take the team with the injured players. others step up when given the chance.

Yep. Screwed my FF team. Now I gotta play B.G. Ellis or Pierre Thomas.

    Gotta look for a trade.

Well that just turned out to be even worse news on Vereen, everybody's favorite pickup this season. I was outbid on him in an auction league, but now it doesn't look so bad.

I thought Ridley was going to get the majority of the carries anyway?

Vereen was supposed to be a PPR monster out of the backfield, ala a Sproles or Reggie Bush.

Not if he keeps coughing it up.

Now he will be an IR monster for the next 8 weeks. This is why FF is nonsense. You can't cap injuries.

Yeah wrist surgeries take a while to heal. Dez Bryant still hurt from last year.

Ridley is a much more explosive runner than Shane V., of course he needs to hold onto the ball but if he does I would much rather Ridley get the majority of the carries. Two fumbles last week, that will not happen again.

    3rd down option=L Blount

Vereen has much better hands for the passing game than both, but I think the Pats will manage a strong performance on the ground.

Ridley is the better back. As long as he holds onto the ball, everything is going to be fine
