    Official cheap wins thread

Starting a new thread called cheap wins.

Here are the rules, can't be a starter, or a closer.

Most rotisserie leagues limit the amount of starts that you can have, so they don't come cheap.
Closers get a lot of wins through blown saves, and besides, closers are usually hard to pick up in rotisserie leagues.

    So, only mid-relief guys.

Today, I'm going with David Hernandez of the Arizona Diamondbacks

Tomorrow, I'm gonna try Shawn Kelly of the Yankess. He's had a couple of days off

ive noticed a couple guys on the sox get these cheap wins...uehara and tazawa mostly...the sox never seem to pull ahead until the later innings and yeah i know tazawa is a closer right now but once bailey gets back he'll be a setup guy

Ryan Cook could be a good one today. Oakland may have to win in the late innings with Bart on the mound

Matt Belisle of the Rockies is sometimes a good one. They often put him in when the games is tied. Also try Jesse Crain

not great or anything, I haven't got it figured out.
But, I think a topic like this could compile some interesting perspectives and maybe, figure a little something out about baseball and betting baseball. I think some of us hard core rotisserie guys might be able to bat around some ideas.

Shawn Kelly struck out the side, and let up 1 walk.
No wins, but it got me 3 strike outs and chipped in an inning of ERA/WHIP.
I feel good about that I had the open roster spot and utilize him for some stat plugging

I have used Ryan Cook in the past, back in April, and got a "cheap win."
I appreciate that you get this thread.
Thank you for responding. I would like to hear more from you.

That's right. This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Not only could this be handy for rotisserie, it might be useful for capping a game.
    Good job Otters

    That's a good point.
Personally, I am still a little uncertain where Boston is where they are with their bullpen(fantasy-wise).
    Just not sure yet.
Bailey's the close-oh yeah, he sure is. But he's gone if you don't got him.
I got him, and he's everyday on my roster, but that's not the point(because I'm lucky to snag him before the other owners could because I'm a lifeless degenerate). I still got open roster spots to fill in every day.
I can bench an ace starting pitcher for 4 days, but I don't want to drop him to free agency. I gotta find a way to fill in productivity while I got starters on the bench that I can't drop.

I like you're thinking dudekid. I hope you respond more, especially since you might know Red Sox information before the rest of us.

well they reactivated bailey from the DL last night, but per john farrell, he won't be used on back to back nights. i know he is unavailable, i was talking more about tazawa and uehara who both seem to have a few cheap wins themselves and probably easier to pick up in leagues.

    other relievers of interest:
    justin wilson, PIT - 4W, 1.40ERA, .90WHIP, 25K in 25.2IP
    jerry blevins, OAK - 3W, 2.08ERA, .69WHIP, 20K in 21.2IP, only 1 BB
    alredo simon, CIN - 3W, 3.43ERA, 1.05WHIP, 19K in 21IP

im sure those guys are probably available

Gonna go with Rex Brothers(Colorado Rockies set up man), today.

Currently owned in 5.7% of ESPN leagues.
He may be called on to get a save with uncertainty on wheter Rafael Betancourt will be available, due to an injury.

I'm gonna take the dudekid's advice and try out Jerry Blevins, this weekend against the Astros.

Got 3 roster spots that are going to mid relievers:
    Shawn Kelly Yankees
Rex Brothers Rockies (picked up a save on Wednesday)
    Jerry Blevins Oakland A's

Got Justin Morneau and Emilio Bonafacio on my bench, can't fit them on my starting lineup.
Nobody interested in a trade, either.

It looks like Matt Belilse has only 1 win this year. But you can ususally count of him to scoreless innings and holds so not waste

Gonna plug Alfredo Simon in, today. He got a win, the other day.

    Today, for mid-relievers, I got
    Rex Brothers Colorado
    Jerry Blevins Oakland
    Alfredo Simon Cincinatti

Wins by any pitcher on the Marlins or Astros should be considered cheap.

    they are the most expensive

they cost you a start, and if you do get a win, you're luckier than hell
plus those guys aren't very good at strikeouts

Jose Fernandez and Kevin Slowey might get you ERA/WHIP if you get them on the right days
Bud Norris might get you strikeouts
but they are not cheap-no goddam way are they cheap

    Got Jerry Blevins(Oakland)
    Joe Smith (Cleveland)
    for tomorrow.

I streamed Bartolo Colon for a win and got a quality start out of that fat ass burrito stuffer(0 earned runs over 7 with 7 strikeouts to boot).
So I'm gonna drop him, because I don't feel the urgency to keep him on my roster for 5 days. Owners in my league don't like him, so if I really wanted him on my squad, I think he'll be there in 4-5 days from now, anyways.

Anyways, I want to drop Bartolo Colon for a mid-reliever, tomorrow. Any ideas, fellahs?

    Looks like Vinnie Pestano.

The greatest set-up man of all time according to "How I Met Your Mother"'s Ted Moseley, played by Josh Radnor

    Going with Jerry Blevins (Oakland)
    Joe Smith (Cleveland)
Not a lot of time to research it. Just left the guys I got in from yesterday.
Didn't realize it till I looked at the schedule,
everyday this week we have morning games.
So, when I get home from work, late at night, I have to make decisions a little more quickly, as opposed to going to bed, sleeping on it and having the afternoon to scope out the mid relievers.

i'd be careful with pestano...he is getting lit up this year, seems like he's having elbow problems and his velocity is down. joe smith might be a solid candidate

btw, how i met your mother...great show

Gonna try Tyler Clippard for the Nationals for the Milwaukee series

He's got decent numbers: 6-1, sub 3 era, 1 whip
