thank god I drafted Weaver AND Greinke....help

ok so my top two pitchers (were) weaver and greinke...awesome...so everyone in my league noticed this and is trying to get trades out of me, my offense is pretty loaded so I do have chips. here are some trades sent to me

    trade 1:
    my lohse/beltre, for his chris sale/i. kennedy/moustakas

    trade 2:
my lohse/beltre/huston street for his cliff lee/sandoval

    lineup:
    c- ruiz (doumit for now)
    1b- pujols
    2b- b. phillips
    3b- beltre
    ss- rollins
    of- ellsbury
    of- h. pence
    of- torii hunter/ichiro
    util- konerko

    pitching:
    peavy
    lohse
    wandy rodriguez
    k. medlen
    juan fernandez
    huston street/mitchell boggs/jj putz closers
    weaver/greinke/garza DL

what do you guys think? Im kind of leaning towards trade 2 because I love cliff lee, and I get a serviceable replacement in panda for 3B giving away beltre

trade 1 is a no brainer imo. Beltre will put up solid numbers again especially when the weather warms up however Moustakas isn't that bad of a replacement and he will have relevant numbers that won't hurt you. Guy has power potential and he could have a solid year. Lohse isn't anything major as he was undrafted in most drafts due to being a FA at the time and I wouldn't suggest keeping him longterm either. Ian Kennedy tends to have a high era as I remember from last year however he is still a decent pitcher and should get you by as well.

as far as trade 2 Sandoval is injury prone and he is very risky.

see the reason i lean towards #2 is that chris sale is also a very high injury risk...if he goes down, then thats pretty much that for my team seeing that he would be the big piece i would trade for. you can pretty much pen cliff lee in for 200Ks, a bunch of cg's, and the phillies look like a much better team this year so i dont think we'll only see him post 6 wins. and pablo sandoval may be risky, but hes playing well and will hit more HRs and have a MUCH higher batting avg than moustakas. moustakas also strikes out over 100 times a year...

my only concern is giving up huston street leaving me with boggs/putz as closers, but i do have valverde stashed on my roster hoping that detroit finally comes to their senses. im always on the prowl for closers too and it seems like there is a new guy getting a shot every week

1 looks okay but you're going to have to drop someone so it's not as good as it seems.

I just about auto-reject everything I get in circumstances like these at first because you're in panic mode and they're in "take advantage" mode. Wait a few days for it to cool off, then make a move. Hopefully these guys will be back in 2 months.

Zips updated projections for this year:

    13W/2.90 ERA/1.13WHIP/200K
    12W/3.70 ERA/1.23WHIP/180K

And those are Cliff Lee and Ian Kennedy.

as for Panda and moose tacos

    290/19/66/81/2
    260/18/68/75/5

so in reality you win either trade by getting rid of Loshe. the first trade gives you more depth in you pitching as both Kennedy and Sale a good starters the 2nd is more top heavy.

Im not really sure the specifics of you league, but i really think you should lean toward trade 1.

does ZIPS project strikeouts for the batters? i guarantee there is a HUGE difference there between panda and moose tacos (lol i like that name)...i also have a very hard time seeing ian kennedy putting up a 3.70 ERA playing his home games in arizona, but then again that's just me...

i am also a huge cliff lee fan, which plays into it, i just really love having a guy like that on my team that i can set in my top rotation spot and forget about him

well Kennedy's ERAs the last 3 years in Arz have been 3.80/2.88/4.02 so its certainly doable -

Moose is listed at 111K and Sandoval at 69K, but Sandoval is also projected at alot less PAs (499 vs 643) the k% is closer 16.7% for Moose and 12.5% for Sandoval.

And of course keep in mind Lee is a 34 year old pitcher who has posted 200+ innings in 7/9 seasons, this time last year Roy Halladay was a 35 year old pitcher who had posted 200+ innings in 8/10 years; thing can go south quick for a pitcher in his mid 30s.

Take anything you can get for Weaver, he's not going to be very good once he comes back you can see Dave Cameron's take on the matter here http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jered...iant-red-flag/

I would ask for a little more on the trades.
Because you can stream pitchers.(if it's rotisserie)

Trade 1 if you are in a head to head league.
Because you need wins and you can't give away wins in April.

i prefer trade 1 for the better pitching depth, plus you won't lose a closer. I am not all that high on lohse anyway.

I'm leaning with the late voters and I like the depth of getting two solid pitchers for Trade 1.

Rough break having Weaver and Greinke. In my keeper league, those were both keepers on the same team.

I like the trade for same reason you dont want to lose a closer. I do think that Lohse is will do alright though

Sale struggling is all the more reason for trade 1 if you haven't already done it.

im holding tight for now although i am going to try exploring trades to get rid of weaver....even once he comes back healthy, his fastball velocity is wayy down and he has just looked below average...dont want to just give him away for nothing

You can still make Trade 1 AND later explore trading Weaver. I like trade 1 on the surface without outside considerations.
