    Hypothetical: MLB #1 overall pick?

    Miggy or Trout?

    (Or other)

    5X5 league

    20 percent each catagory

    BA
    HR
    RBI
    R
    SB

Miggy IMO even though people talk about a Trout having a down year I think it could either way I dont either one is a bad choice

its not so much that Trout will have a "down year"; but replicating last years numbers will be hard.

Between the two Cabrera should go before Trout, and you could argue that Braun could be number one also.

Hope I don't have to make this decision. Hate being first pick,
    But I would take Cabrera.

Until you get to the SB category.
    Remember this is fantasy BB

Miggy gives you 0 there in the SB department.
Trout gives you a crap load of points.

Trout gets you tons of points in 100 percent of the categories, Miggy 80 percent.
Some argue that (remember, we are talking 5X5 fantasy BB here) that Braun is a better value than Miggy

I would go with Cabrera. I'd like to see another season of what Trout will do.

very true nash trout does give you a lot more pts in that area, so I am up in the air, I think that it would be a coin flip

It's not hard, Trout is the obvious choice. His edge in SBs will be bigger than Cabrera's edges in HR + RBI combined.

Taking names out of the question, based on the averges of a few projection systems which of these lines is the best?

    avg/HR/R/RBI/SB

    305/25/115/85/45
    310/33/105/110/23

OK so its rankings and not raw numbers, so Trout it is for the reasoning I gave.

Id have to go with Miggy just because you get a proven commodity. Of course Trout is good but do we know that he can replicate last years season? If you end up with Trout it's obviously great, but to me Miggy just does it year in and year out and you can basically just lock him up for .300+, 30+ hrs, and 100+ RBI no question

trout is a top 5 pick but no way should he be going first overall. Cabrera first overall no doubt. As stated above Braun also deserves to be drafted before Trout. I don't think Trout repeats the power #s he had last year and stolen bases are an overrated category and theirs other options in later rounds who will get a solid # of stolen bases.

I would not trust picking Trout early.
Will he produce again is to be seen.

Good point about the stolen bases factor. Cabrera only has 33 thefts in his 10 MLB seasons.

I'd go with Trout if it were up to me.

In 5x5 the 1st payer is the most valuable. And I think Trout will have a better year than that.

You know me very well with my passion for baseball Andy, I love those February and March annual publications and their projections, you are right, the projections are dumbed down some ever season.

I think I am going to run a season MLB thread this year.

You have one proven player versus another player who had a very good start. No choice is really horrible.
