    October 9th fantasy football news

Multiple reports say Chiefs RB Peyton Hillis (ankle) is NOT expected to play in Week 6 versus the Buccaneers.

Hillis continues to deal with a high ankle sprain that has forced him to remain sidelined the last 2 weeks. The Chiefs appear to be taking it on the cautious side with Hillis and can do so with the resurgence of RB Jamaal Charles. With Hillis sidelined Shaun Draughn has made the most out of his carries and has totaled 31 touches over the past 3 weeks, with 12 carries for 40yards coming this past week against the Ravens.

Charles owners can expect to see him continue to be giving a HEAVY work load with Draughn to see "breather" carries and some change of pace work.

Cundiff given the boot-- The Redskins have released kicker Billy Cundiff according to an ESPN report. He missed 4 of his last 6 field goals.

Bears rookie wide receiver Alshon Jeffery will miss at least a month after breaking his right hand during Sunday's blowout win over the Jaguars. The break was discovered on Monday, he was placed in a cast, and he is expected to be out for four-to-six weeks. One small piece of good news is that Jeffery's injury won't require surgery. The Bears are on bye in Week 6.

Titans quarterback Jake Locker never really had much of a chance of playing in Week 6 considering that the Titans take the field against the Steelers two days from now. But head coach Mike Munchak said Monday that they are targeting a return date for him soon after that. "Jake is getting better, no doubt about that," Munchak said. "The last couple of days he feels a lot better

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News tweeted that for the second time in as many weeks, New York Jets running back Bilal Powell played more snaps than his counterpart RB Shonn Greene. Powell saw 25 snaps and Greene played 24. Powell rushed four times for 18 yards, while Greene rushed eight times for 26 yards.

Houston Texans inside linebacker Brian Cushing may have torn his ACL on Monday night. Cushing was injured during a cut block from New York Jets offensive lineman Matt Slauson. "Hoping for the best right now," Cushing said. "Obviously, it could be everything with the knee or nothing in the knee. It's a knee injury, and we'll see."

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson was diagnosed with a Lisfranc (foot) injury and will be out for a minimum of eight weeks. Benson had already been ruled out for Week 6. It is possible that doctors could determine that Benson requires surgery, which would keep him out for the rest of the season.

For what it's worth, New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham chose a good week to injure his ankle because they are on a bye in Week 6. Graham was seen wearing a walking boot after Sunday's win over the San Diego Chargers. Graham rolled his ankle after logging his only catch for the evening late in the first quarter.

Tennessee has looked extremely week on both sides of the ball. Any reason they show up to play on Thurday? Pitt should carve their defense up so Tennessee is going to need to be great on offense. Johnson got shut down on Sunday.
