    Daily Fantasy Football Contests

We had a very successful thread going on daily fantasy baseball so let's see if we can carry that over to some daily fantasy football games.

I have been looking over some players this week and I am really liking Eli Manning this weekend to have a big game. Manning plays in a pass first offense and now gets to face a Cleveland Browns defense that is allowing 42 pass attempts per game against them. Cleveland is allowing 286 yards per game through the air while opponents have a 61% completion % against them. Cleveland is allowing over 2 touchdowns per game through the air. Manning has some nice targets with Cruz and Hixon who have the ability to put up big numbers. Hixon might be a steal this week in daily fantasy contests also, against this poor pass defense while he gets another opportunity to start with Nicks being banged up again.

For Running Backs you have plenty of choices this week with Marshawn Lynch against Carolina, Adrian Peterson against a poor run defense in Tennessee, Ray Rice against the Chiefs, Frank Gore could be a steal with his cheaper price tag against a struggling run defense of Buffalo.

Who is everyone liking this weekend for some daily fantasy football games?

for some reason nobody is wanting to tell anyone anything about who they have in their lineups

tenn actually has a good run d, and i like Rivers against New orleans
j graham, d sproles, frank gore, hixon as a cheap wr, j jones has some value as a cheap wr,
alot of good wr's every week compared to running backs.

Hixon looks like a solid option at WR with a cheap pricetag on him. Frank Gore is another who doesn't have a very heft pricetag that could have a good week.

Daily fantasy football contests are extremely tough due to how many people participate in fantasy football. To be honest though I kind of enjoy it. It is just like betting on games. Our goal as handicappers is to outsmart the odds makers while in daily fantasy football it is to outsmart our opponents.

I agree. I'm having a tough time playing daily fantasy football.

I'm much better at season long leagues. That is all I've ever played for years.

It is going to take some time to make the adjustments.

Ain't this the truth. I always get a kick when someone says, "Wait til so-an-so season. I will win my money back plus some." Always good for a laugh.

Guys don't freak out if the first week in daily fantasy football didn't work out. Try and just play one game maybe a 50/50 so if you place in the top half you still make some money. I have played all 5 weeks and I am 4-1 in the 50/50 games I played. Yeah I didn't win them but I was able to place in that top half for some money. Remember we still have 12 weeks left in this season so still plenty of time to make some money. NBA is right around the corner also which gives us the opportunity every night to make some cash.

Looking at this week I am almost positive I am going to go with Matt Ryan this week. It is going to be hard to talk me off of that considering he is playing a Raiders defense that allows 283 yards per game. The Raiders also allow over 2 passing TD's per game and their opponents have a pass completion percentage of 71.52% this season. Tony Gonzalez, Julio Jones and Roddy White might be worth a look also.

Ryan is mushed for this week.

What's a good strategy for basketball?
I've noticed I can put together quite the "all star" team with the salary cap.

A good strategy for basketball? Who knows. It's all about having your team score the as much as possible. But other than that I don't know.

    K13,

Remember this, if you can put together a solid all star team your opponent or opponents will be able to also. You want to dig a bit deeper when it comes to setting your lineup.

Here are a few things I like too look at:

    1. Is that opponent able to stop him. Take a look at the last two-four games they played against that player you want and see if they have trouble containing him.

    2. Is that player better at home or on the road. Alot of guys find spots on their home court that they are comfortable with and that is where they want the ball to them.

    3. I like to see how players are doing the last few games. Are they catching fire or have they been struggling.

    4. I like players who are going to give me a solid line all the way across. Example: Lebron James is the one that comes to mind all the time. It is no problem for him to score 28 points with 10 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. On Fanduel.com that is 53 points which is huge. I know the pricetag on James is huge but try and look for guys that can give you a solid line similar to that.

    5. Looking for a center I like to see if the opponent has a poor shooting percentage since my center then has a great opportunity to grab plenty of Boards.

    6. Look at the total on the game. I feel more comfortable taking a player who is playing with a total set in the 200 plus range then a guy who is playing with a total of 175-180. We know points will be scored which gives your player more opportunity in that higher range game.

    7. My goal when playing fantasy basketball is I want to score in the 280 to 300 plus point range on fanduel since that is when I have cashed the most. You are looking at 33 points per game from each player to get to 300 in a fanduel contests.

I can go on and on but just wanted to give you some things I like to look at. People may agree or disagree with me on what I look at but I have found it to be successful for me. Hope this helps you a bit.

One other thing. I don't play College Fantasy basketball too many teams to look through to find players.

Allin1, Sometimes I wish I wouldn't know sports. I wish at times I could be like alot of my buddies and just be a fan. When someone ask me who my favorite team or teams are I answer who ever covers the line or whoever gets me the most fantasy points. They laugh but it is not a joke.

Yeah Jeeps I have Matty Ice as a qb,and Julio as a reciever in a few lineups myself. As far as rb not sure, but planning on using R.Bush in a few. Also what you said about 50/50 leagues is true! a great way to get started and I usually count on those to cash to cover the other leagues I am in if I do not place in the $

    Noles,

Looking over the running back position for this weekend and I might take a look at Darren McFadden. His price tag is not all that bad and he does have somewhat of a nice matchup this week against Atlanta that has had a few games where running backs have had success against them. Another thing that caught my eye on McFadden is the Raiders need to run the ball alot in this game to keep that high powered passing game from Atlanta off the field as much as possible. Atlanta will get their points but the Raiders can limit that a bit if they control the clock with running the ball if they want to compete in this game.

still looking at some more guys yet nothing written in stone for me just yet.

Atlanta is ranked 27th against the run (142.8 yards per game) and 27th in yards per carry (5.4). Therefore, I like McFaddens chances this week.
