Enough With Referring to Ohio State/USC as "Game of the Year"

While you can understand the hype from the media beacause of the big names of the schools, the fact is that USC should win handily by double-digits and that there will be more intriguing matchups later in the year that are much better than this.

There is absolutely no reason to think OSU will compete in this game. Ohio U. is one of the worse teams in the MAC, played their backup QB, and still almost beat 'em. Unless something happens injurywise, I'm making a huge play on USC, and also a play on the 1st half, assuming the line for the half is under a TD. this one gets ugly early i think.

I am laying the lumber on this game at -10 for USC. There is no reason why they don't win by 24. Big Ten is the most overrated confrence with OSU leading it. No way this line should just be -10 but I'll take it.

on paper, before the year began, this was one of the best non-conf matchups i have ever seen, and i have watching cfb closely for 20+ yrs

now, after the ohio game, the buckeyes have lost their luster

remember, usc won a part of the natl title in 03, won in 04, played for in 05

ohio state won in 02, played for in 06 and 07

this non-conf on paper was as good as it pretty much gets when thinking about it pre-season, i mean come on, these are 2 freaking cfb HEAVYWEIGHTS dude!

i challenge you to find one better in the last several yrs

texas @ ohio state in 05 was good on paper, and it turned out very well too

I watched USC, and I watched Ohio State.
Today, I put 6 units to win 5. Bought a point, so I got USC -9.5 USC should kill'em.
If I have any more money, I might put alot more on USC, by the end of this week.
USC looked great in the home opener.
Ohio State looked crappy against Ohio.

If you go back over the last two months or so, you will find my posts predicting a blowout here for quite some time. The Week 1 performances have nothing to do with it, and I am even willing to excuse Ohio State's performance in an obvious look-ahead spot.

The fact is, heavyweights or not, USC is better in virtually every phase of the game this year, and it is an insult to the Ohio State/Texas matchup to even mention it in the same breath as this game.

That game was truly close on paper and it played out that way on he field. This matchup was already a blowout on paper even before this season started, and will most lilely play out this way on the field also.

Buckeyes are a joke, they have been for the past 2 years and somehow they get to the big game where they are reminded they don't belong. They will be hyping this game until the kickoff just like LT said and then after the first quarter people will be changing the channel.

I wouldn't be suprised to see USC defense not even give up a touchdown

In some instances public hype can be beneficial from a betting angle.

not at all. are you saying 10.5 is a sharp line (and thus my bet at -8 is good)? or is there some other reason not to play this game?

    power rankings to close

i say you would need atleast a 7+ point diffrence in what you preceive the game to be won by and how much/compared to the lines offer

-8 looks like 2 score diffrence

That depends on the performance of your specific model.

    Again, model specific.

And at this pt in the season with 1 game played for USC and 2 for Ohio St. you are at least somewhat guessing with your inputs.

Nevertheless when i get 8 and the market goes to 10.5, i'm rather pleased

no way OSU has the talent that USC has.. matter of fact I dont know who does. With home field and on the big stage, the Buckeyes will get crused (sound familiar?)

You're crazy. USC wins by two scores easily. Your power rankings are faulty. OSU is the third best team in the Big Ten this year behind Penn St. and Wisconsin, respectively. And with Wells struggling with injury, this game should easily be a two score win and could very well be a lopsided affair. I think the line closes at -13.5, as I said in another thread earlier this week and I think they'll cover the closing number as well.

LOL. East Carolina is a SOLID football team. I suppose beating TWO top 25 teams was a fluke, right?
