Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy didn't throw at the NFL combine due to an injury to his throwing hand, he was however able to wow NFL scouts in other ways.
McElroy scored 48 out of 50 on the Wonderlic Test given by the NFL. Athletes have 12 minutes to complete the exam. To put that in perspective, the average score for a quarterback ranges around 20 to 24. Some of you may remember that Vince Young reportedly scored 6 on this test. No wonder he was never able to digest the Tennessee Titan playbook.
Way to go Greg McElroy.....hope some team gives you a chance.
Maybe he should tutor some of these borderline illiterate athletes coming to the NFL and save them some embarassment when their bad scores are relased. McElroy definitely is a bright kid, saw him on a few segments on ESPN previewing the National Championship game and he seemed to be a better fit than most of the "experts" ESPN has on their payroll.
